Thin Long Restaurant

It seems that as the years go by, more and more old school Vietnamese restaurants close, even in the Vietnamese enclaves in San Jose. This is one of those long-standing traditional Vietnamese restaurants in San Jose, and while Im not an old fogey, I can appreciate Vietnamese food beyond the Phở Vietnamese noodle bowls, and this is one of those places to enjoy traditional dishes. Case in point: there are over a dozen variations available of Chè desserts here, whereas most places, if they even have them, have maybe 3-4. Some other places no longer even serve this traditional dessert in favor of new fangled boba--blasphemy! No worries, you have a dozen to choose from here. Plus a plethora of other traditional dishes.

Pho Dao Restaurant

What a great find! We were shopping at hmart and were looking for a spot to grab some good pho. This was less than 10 minutes away so we had to try! We walked in around 6pm on a Saturday dinner, the restaurant was half crowded and we were able to grab a seat immediately. Self-seating, service was also pretty quick. The menu isnt super extensive as other Vietnamese restaurants - they had mostly pho, some appetizers, some drinks, and some desserts. No che, no vermicelli bowls or anything of that sort. This is a good sign, means they focus on select items and do it well. You pay at the bar area (looks like a bar area). We both got the large pho each which honestly is a good amount of food. Not too much but not too little. I got the pho tai and the husband got pho dac biet. We also got orders of chicken salad and spring rolls. The spring rolls came with 3 spring rolls, good amount! Most places noways only provide 2. The chicken salad was light and refreshing, huge, and came with generous portions of chicken. Love this! Our pho came out quickly too. The broth isnt as salty as other pho places - they probably dont use msg or overload it with salt. It has a hint a beef, but it does taste a little diluted. It was still good though. The quality of the beef is good quality - my husband kept raving about how it was the best quality meat hes seen used at a pho restaurant. They gave generous portions of rare steak slices in my pho too! My husband ordered the dao special drink which they forgot. We had to remind them. I actually thought that drink was good! It says it has sparkling water but it tastes like they used sprite, and it came with honey/mint. It tasted like it had the pickled plum candy in there though.Overall it was quick, affordable, and delicious. We would probably come back if were in the area especially if were shopping at hmart. I thought the broth could use a little more salt/seasoning, and a bit more beef flavor.

Beautiful decorations and clean restaurant. Very good service. We ordered Chả Giò Rế (Golden Bamboo Eggrolls), Gỏi Lưu Ly (Mix Green Salad), Mì Xào Dòn Thập Cẩm (Crispy Combination Stir-fried Chowmein), Lẩu Canh Chua (Vietnamese Style Sweet & Sour Hot Pot). All the foods were fresh and delicious ?. For desert, we wanted to try Mango Sticky Rice, the famous Thai desert, but they were out of it. ? Next time then. The best vegetarian restaurant in San Jose. Highly recommend .?

Pho Co is terrible dont ever eat here. Poor customer service and terrible food. Me and my friends were looking for a place to eat since we were at viet town and the only resturant that was open at the time was this one (11am to 11pm). We arrived at 9:30 pm and sat in at 9:40 pm on 1/31/22. The spoons and chop sticks were really dirty. It took 15 mins for them to take our order and we never got water/beverages. The waitress said all fried appettizers were no longer served due to the time... but the table behinds us were served fried food. My boyfriend had order us some sugarcane drinks(Ill get back to this). When the server brought the garnish like lime, basil, beansprouts, etc.. the plate was wet and the garnishes were soaking wet BUT still dirty with dirt and some were already rotting. We waited 20 mins to get our pho in Korean soup bowls. Just for my boyfriend to not get his bowl of pho but only his side of raw meat (3) pieces. He told the server they forgot his bowl. They supposely acknowledged but we had to asked every server every 10 mins in the resturant where the hell his bowl was. Its legit only noodles, broth and garnish. Another thing, my friend brought their toddler and wanted scissors to cut the noodles. The staff failed to give them scissors and my friends found some on the side. Then 10 mins later, the waiter finally brings the scissors and they told him they got it. Then 2 mins later another server shows with another pair of scissors. So back to my boyfriends pho it took over 50 mins for him to receive his food. By this time everyone had finished their food. When my boyfriend got his bowl, he asked for an update on our sugarcane drinks to the waitress who took our order. She told us that they dont serve that drink at this time. (Luckily, we werent charge for the drinks or that would had been another story to add on). Now with the taste of the pho... One of my friends couldnt finish her small bowl of pho due to the taste. The broth was bland, no flavor and was cloudy as for my noodles it was over cooked while my friends noodles was undercooked and crunchy. If you go to any other pho resturant their small is the large at Pho Co. When we walked to the front to pay; the floor was slippery and dirty. The kitchen was flithy and smelt weird. Overall, this resturant is the worst pho resturant i ever tried and is overpriced ($15 per bowl) with unedible food. I wish i could I give this resturant a 0 star. This will be my first and last time coming to this resturant. Beware coming here unless you like nasty food and bad service.

Cm Tm Thanh Restaurant
1150 Story Rd, San Jose, CA 95122, United States
The food at the end of the day was a bit stale. The broken rice packaging was stale and had a lot of MSG, the duck porridge was stale, and the vermicelli noodles were about to go stale and I was devastated. Oh my god, my owl, my god. The store only accepts cash, which is very inconvenient. Although the price seems a bit cheaper, the food portion is only 2/3 of other restaurants.Too much MSG. The pork skin for com tam and the duck porridge already went bad. The vermicelli wasnt fresh either. Smaller portion sizes compared to ones from other Vietnamese restaurants in San Jose. And especially, CASH ONLY! I do not support this practice of tax evasion.

It’s a good place for Vietnamese food! Great location and delicious food. We arrived in San Jose on Saturday around 8a and needed to find a good Pho place after an early flight. This restaurant is close to SJC airport and open in early hours. Pho bowls were hot and delicious at 8:05am!

Phuong Nam Restaurant

This place was highly recommended to me by my sister. She said that she and my mom had an amazing dining experience here last month. So today I called in to order food and was told that it should be ready in about 20-30 mins. I went there to pick it up and the place was clean and spacious. I love the chill vibe on a Sunday night. I’ve been to dozens of Vietnamese restaurant in the past but Phuong Nam Restaurant is by far the best in terms of cleanliness and ambience. I ordered their Shaking Beef and it was so damn good! The beef was so tender and juicy that it melts in your mouth. The owner was so nice and very accommodating too. I will definitely be coming back to try their other food. I highly recommend Phuong Nam Restaurant to those seeking a good service, good value, cleanliness, and top-notch Vietnamese cuisine.

This restaurant was a pleasant surprise. My family and I came on Saturday afternoon in late September 2018 after a doctor appointment nearby. We didnt know the neighborhood and GOOGLE-ed for Vietnamese restaurants nearby. The restaurant was empty except for one table. The menu was not overwhelming. The food came pretty quickly. My son and I enjoyed noodle soup with rare steak. My wife loved her grilled pork rice plate. We will come again.
