Best Taste Chinese and Sushi Restaurant
2360 S Bascom Ave, Campbell, CA 95008, United States
People who ran the restaurant were very friendly, but I did not care for the food. Its the first time I can ever recall getting lukewarm to cold hot tea. The wor won ton soup was dark like it had a lot of soy sauce based sauce poured in it. There were three very thin slices of BBQ pork that tasted really old and had no other flavor. It had 2 jumbo shrimp and 3 small lumps if something (mushy chicken maybe?). Thats it for protein! No bok choy (there were only a few pieces of Napa type cabbage) no pea pods, just 3 zigzags of carrot and some green onion. Inside the won tons, the filling very dark (more mystery meat). There was also an aftertaste, the kind you get when a restaurant uses a lot of msg. I ordered a combo fried rice to go and it doesnt smell right Im not sure it will be edible.. There wasnt one single piece of protein showing in the rice and I suspect there will be precious few beef, chicken, pork, or shrimp pieces within the rice if I take a chance and eat it later. Not too good for $15 rice. Even mediocre restaurants are capable of making delicious fried rice (Panda Express even makes fried rice with a better aroma).
Sushi Confidential - Campbell
247 E Campbell Ave, Campbell, CA 95008, United States
Sushi Confidential has two locations in the South Bay: San Jose and Campbell, both located in California. The location I will review and went to today was at the Downtown Campbell location. The downtown Campbell is located in Campbell, CA where there are a bunch of restaurants and little family owned stores. Right now, Sushi Confidential is doing take-out orders and outdoor dining due to COVID-19 and I saw the staff and the customers handling the protocols pretty good. I got my order pretty quickly and when I got home and ate the sushi, it was so delicious! I ordered 4 of their vegetarian rolls since I am a flexitarian. The first roll I will review is their Anti- Phishing which is with spicy tofu, tempered green beans, topped with ahimi, avocado, unagi sauce, green onions. Ahimi is basically a play on raw tuna but it's not raw tuna, it's tomato but has that ahi tuna feel. To be fair, I thought there was no way tofu can be put into a sushi roll but it turns out they did! I really liked the tofu with the unagi sauce and avocado, I thought it gave the roll a nice freshness. I also liked how the tofu was soft and it actually had flavor that I absolutely enjoyed! I also liked the ahimi which was soft and it did taste like it was raw tuna but it's not! I enjoyed how I can still have that “tuna” taste without eating any fish. I did wish the tofu was a bit spicier. I was expecting it to be slightly more spicy. To be fair, this was actually my favorite roll out of the 4 I got! Highly recommend this roll very much! The second roll I got was their Snitch which is spicy tofu, cucumber, topped with avocado, spicy spy sauce, and sweet potato crisps. This roll was definitely spicer than the first roll which I really liked I thought that this roll had spicer tofu than the Anti-Phishing which I liked very much! I liked the avocado and cucumber so that the roll had some freshness and I like the spicy spy sauce, it complemented the roll very well. I did like the addition of the sweet potato crips, really nice texture element I do wish it was a bit crunchier. Overall, really liked the roll, it had every tasting element you should definitely taste ina sushi roll. The third roll I got was DTF (Down to Fiesta) which is basically an avocado roll topped with fresh pico de gallo, jalapenos, Persian lime & jalapeno olive oil, sesame seeds. This was a really nice, fresh roll and l liked the addition of the other ingredients to help elevate the flavors of the sushi roll. I think a bit of lemon maybe would of helped get another flavor level of the sushi roll because I didn't taste acidity which I think that's what pico de gallo really needs. Either a lemon or lime would of helped the roll out more and tie in the flavors together. I do however really liked the fun fresh flavors they were going for I thought it was thought out!The last roll I got was their Hollaback which has shiitake mushroom, cucumber, topped with avocado, lemon, garlic crisp, soy vinaigrette, and spicy sprouts. I really liked how mild this sushi roll was and all of the vegetables really helped tie the sushi roll together. I did like the lemon on top to give the roll acidity. I thought that was smart so all of the flavor components shined through. I did like the addition to the shiitake mushrooms because those were like the “meat” part of the sushi roll which was super filling. Overall, this sushi roll was delicious and perfect. I don't have anything to say except, this was some great fresh sushi!Overall, I really liked Sushi Confidential and this is definitely a must go spot if your ever in Campbell or San Jose! Their sushi rolls were very fresh and the rice was just right! Don't forget to support local businesses like this one and check out their sushi! It's really delicious and I love the variety of vegetarian/vegan sushi rolls! I wish there was more because I have a feeling their rolls are terrific and definitely I hope they come out with more vegetarian options in the future! Sushirrito
1640 S Bascom Ave, Campbell, CA 95008, United States
The sushirrito at this local kitchen is not on par with the sushirrito in directly owned locations (e.g. Palo Alto). Not only are the rolls about 2/3 of the normal rolls, its overpriced, lower in quality, and not as well made. The protein portion is abysmal, rice hard, seaweed soggy, and tempura drenched in grease. Ive been a couple times hoping that the poor quality was a fluke the previous time, but each time Ive been disappointed. Tried reflecting this with the management but never received a response or saw an improvement. Do yourself a favor and just go to the Palo Alto location!

Roddy contacted me just at the right time in regards to office lunches and I decided to give it a try. I do not regret it! He is super accommodating and responsive. The food is always arriving on time and is hot, presentable, fresh and delicious. I used to order lunch from different vendors and was always stressed out the entire morning thinking about if it will arrive on time or not and also spending hours looking at restaurants website/EZ Caters for interesting options. Thanks Latin Asian Fusion for saving me hours of work per week!
One Fish Raw Bar
193 E Campbell Ave, Campbell, CA 95008, United States
Horrible service (literally KICKED OUT) and mediocre food...Service: Our reservation was at 6:30 and were seated at 6:20 because the table was ready for us. We got a bottle of champagne and told the waitress that we plan to stay all night to catch up and asked when they close (we didnt want to delay closing). She said we could stay as long as we wanted. Fast forward to 8PM, they approached us and said theres a 2 hour dining limit (surprise!) and we needed to leave before 8:20 (note our reservation was 6:30 and they offered to seat us early). They need our table for a large party. Side note, were fine and respect dining durations. No one is walking around looking for confrontation... HOWEVER, this was not mentioned on the reservation confirmation e-mail nor at the beginning of our dinner. We (two light weights) drank a whole bottle of champagne (large format) and was asked to leave during night time while not ready to drive. We dont live nearby nor are we familiar with the surrounding area. Thankfully we found a nearby restaurant where we had dessert and sobered up before driving home.Food: To give context both my friend and I work in tech and our bucket list is the new and fancies in the bay. We can proudly say we have crossed off half of the Michelins in the bay. Now to the food. Its a small menu so we ordered half of all the dishes they offered. The caviar dip had too much cream cheese vs. caviar. At $50, we werent expecting the mother load, but with the first scoop the limited amount of caviar was mixed with overwhelming amount of cream cheese. Not to mention it was just Lays chips. The oysters were swimming in oyster wash, while fresh, it lost the oyster taste. The white fish was grilled to perfection (on par with the price), but lack seasoning. The lobster bisque soup had a lot of flavor but what I assume were lobster chunks had a weird sweet taste to it (not seafood sweetness more like candy sweetness yikes). The best dish of the light was actually the carrots. We didnt try any desserts because we were kicked out, so yeah. With so many better restaurants in the bay, youre better off skipping this one.
Tapsilog Bistro

Its sad for me to just give 2 starts to my fellow kababayan. But its mainly on the food and price. The service and friendliness, the atmosphere and cleanliness are great. I did not mind the setup looking like bahay kubo when you first come in but then a american pub when you start looking around. Maybe they are trying to mimic those kakanin in the Philippines ?? by the american military bases. I dont know...Now for the food... its fast and came in almost the same time. We tried the Chicken Pancit, Lumpia, Kare-Kare with Beef and Bangus Sisig. I know thats alot but thats what happened when you passed your meal time for few hours. Anyways...First that came Lumpia... first look store bought, not hand made. Its cut in half, cooked in high heat but still very, very bit cold ? inside. Taste store bought...Second that came Chicken Pancit... looks good with some Canton noodles very fine chopped bits of chicken and typical Filipino Pancit ingredients. Taste good enough...Third that came Bangus Sisig... wife looking forward to have for a long while. But on a first looked its very, very, very oily. Good portion of the Milk Fish and again typical Filipino ingredients which is not bad, its how it is. Precooked fish that was crumble and fried in oily and ingredients. Lacking in flavor of Sisig. Milk Fish is a very mild tasting fish and usually needs more flavor to help with the taste. No Taste at all...Fourth that came Kare-Kare... this is my wifes favorite dish and keep in mind its not easy to prepare such a dish. So all the ingredients are pre-made. Vegetables and Meat are cooked ahead. Thats okay but the problem specially with the meat it dries up. The beef is tender and not hard to chew but no flavor and judging on looks, its been sitting out of the water for a while so it will not overcooke, I know coz Ive done it myself. Not all are coated with the Peanut sauce and tasting the beef by itself is just like its been boiled in water without salt. The vegetables are great. The Peanut sauce is okay. Overall taste 2 stars...Okay, you dont have to take what Ive said above and you can taste for yourself. By the way, all our orders are a la carte. We paid over $80 + tip.Conclusion... for two very, very hungry ? people all food should taste good ? right? Well, that is usually the case but not in our experience. Will we go back, NO ???One more thing... come early and bring a snack coz you will spend 15 minutes to find parking.Stop the press... I almost forgot the Turon. Wow, wow, wow... deep fried banana wrap in a spring roll wrapper. Frozen, frozen, frozen ???inside warm outside ???

OCK has some hits and misses, so Im not sold just yet. I was slightly regretting not making a reservation ahead of time when I saw a crowd around the hostess stand around dinner time on Sunday evening. Luckily we were seated within just a few minutes. There were rows of tables alongside a bar looking into an exposed kitchen, and even more seating in a large patio area.$14 One in a Melon - Japanese whisky, aged agricole rhum, cantaloupe, toasted sunflower, nigori sake, sirop de canne:Theres nothing like a cool, refreshing, summer cocktail with fresh fruit.$15 Mac n Cheese - Carolina BBQ sauce, sharp cheddar, smoked chicken, spiced breadcrumb:I love me a baked mac n cheese, but I wasnt too impressed with this one. The cheese is more on the liquid-y side and I dont think the BBQ sauce is very good to pair with it. However, I appreciated having a little protein in a more fatty dish, as well as the breadcrumbs.$8.50 KFC Korean Fried Chicken - gochujang, green onion, sweet heat, garlic:These are just chicken nuggets dressed in sweet and spicy sauce, dressed with sesame seeds, pickle slices, and a lime wedge. Not impressed.$7.50 BBB Biscuits, Bacon, Honey Butter:These 3 items slightly redeemed the above two dishes. The biscuits were warm and buttery. The bacon was on the thicker side, and a little sweet. The honey butter tasted very good, though its not a far cry from sweet cream butter that you can find in stores.$15 Bone Marrow - panzanella, stone fruit, levain, saba, purslane:Excellent! I dont think I have ever had bone marrow scoop out of the bone so cleanly before. Smooth, rich, and spreads nicely on the levain. The sweet and sour fruit slices helped to cut through some of the richness.$16.25 Steak Tartare - puttanesca capers, anchovies, olives, chili, garlic, tomato, lavash:Im always a fan of steak tartare, but this was just okay. I appreciated the thick chunks of beef, but it could have used a finer chop to eat with the lavash, and perhaps more acid flavor. Plus, steak tartare is not great with lavash, since it doesnt scoop or hold the meat very well.$16.75 Shrimp Dumplings - Brentwood corn, scallion, frizzled ginger, Calabrian chili, cilantro:Perhaps the worst of the dishes? I couldnt taste much shrimp or perhaps the shrimp was chopped and mashed beyond recognition. My friend commented that these just taste like well-plated, dressed up frozen dumplings. Well, with all the micro greens and flowers on a plate with just a few dumplings, I cant say I disagree.Burger & Fries:Excellent! Beef was cooked to a nice medium-rare. Cheese was gooey and melted. Arugula and fried onions paired very well. The fluffy bun held up well and was in good proportion to the patty. The herb fries were very good too.So out of the seven dishes we tried, I would only recommend the burger, bone marrow, and possibly BBB. I enjoyed the drinks, too. Some dishes werent worth the money, especially the dumplings. Im not sure I would come back, since I didnt find anything else on the menu I really wanted to try, but my friend did mention that the brunch is good. So far, I give this place a 7/10.
Pacific Catch
1875 S Bascom Ave #550, Campbell, CA 95008, United States
UPDATE: 3/17/2023 -My wife and I have eaten at Pacific Catch in Campbell many times in the 18 months since I posted my first review, so this update is long overdue. These days, we mostly go for lunch. We love their Original Ahi Poke but decided to try something different on our last visit so we ordered the Guaca-Poke starter. The guacamole was fresh, creamy, and perfectly paired with the deliciously marinated yellowfin tuna. There were plenty of crispy tortilla chips for scooping. The generous portion was perfect for sharing. We also shared a trio of tacos: Traditional Baja, Grilled Fish, and Cabo Shrimp which were ok but nothing special. The platter comes with a choice of fries, chips & salsa or miso salad. We opted for the salad which we thought was very good. On past visits, we've also enjoyed the seared Ahi fish burger on a sesame bun with avocado. The name is misleading since it's actually a sushi-grade slice of yellowtail, not a ground fish patty. The Ahi was fresh and the tangy Cole slaw was a perfect accompaniment. Our server, Lupe, was friendly, efficient, and highly professional and he took excellent care of us.Parking at the Pruneyard shopping center can be difficult at times, so bring your patience. It's worth the hassle, especially on Tuesdays when bottles of wine are offered at half price.ORIGINAL REVIEW: 9/30/2021 -This aptly named “West Coast Fish House” features deliciously fresh seafood from the Pacific, sourced in an environmentally responsible manner. They have eight restaurants, all in the Bay Area. My wife and I had dinner at their Pruneyard location in Campbell. We started by sharing the Original Ahi Poke. The generous bowl of deliciously fresh yellowfin tuna was lightly marinated in a sesame soy blend and served with crispy wonton chips. It was the perfect starter and just the right size for the two of us.We're from New England so my wife is a traditionalist when it comes to lobster. But she loved their West coast version of a classic lobster roll, dressed with a refreshing light tarragon-dill blend instead of the usual mayo.Unfortunately, my grilled Kanpachi Yellowtail dinner was a bit disappointing. The substantial amount of heavy Asian herb chimichurri sauce completely overpowered the paper-thin slice of fish. My side order of grilled Brussel sprouts was nicely charred, but the fries were lukewarm and limp.We sat in a quiet booth in the semi-enclosed porch. Service was excellent and we were glad to see that the restaurant observed all the usual COVID protocols. We love fresh fish and shellfish, and we like the fact that Pacific Catch is committed to serving only sustainable seafood, so we'll definitely go back soon to try other items on their extensive menu.
TGIs Sushi
100 W Hamilton Ave C, Campbell, CA 95008, United States
Cant believe that I have FINALLY found my go-to sushi spot in Northern California! This place is incredible. Small, but incredible! Our dinner came with free miso soup, a salad, and edamame. That alone won me over, but wait, it gets better! We ordered the nigiri plate (chefs choice) to get a good sampling of their fish, and I swear, the sushi pieces here are 1 1/2 the size of a normal sushi piece. The cuts of fish were very generous and the quality was incredible. We loved it. In the end, we walked away with our favorites being the salmon, albacore and tuna. We decided to order another 2 pieces of salmon and to sample the gyoza which were delicious.By the end of all that, we were absolutely stuffed, but we cannot wait to come back. Im looking forward to testing out some of their rolls, but I watched them come out to other tables and they looked spectacular. Im already dreaming about my next trip here. Until then... :)

Pay attention to the bad reviews if you are going there, and note no Manager or anyone ever apologizes to these customers..In short, I was EXTREMELY underwhelmed especially for about $120/person. My taste buds were screaming for some kind of flavor, any flavor. The absolute only thing that exhibited flavor was the very very eensy bit of smoked bit of Bleu cheese placed on the meat! I ordered the blackberry glazed filet and was LITERALLY presented with 3 half pieces of blackberries as a garnish. I couldnt taste a molecule of blackberry in the sauce. Im paying $52 and I get 1 1/2 blackberries? I had been intrigued by the roasted grapes mentioned in the menu and was given a bunch of grapes still attached to the stem/branch. I asked the waiter about it and he was more than happy to lie to me by stating that they only roast them for a second or two. The grapes were refrigerator cold, Ive had warmer grapes from a salad bar and at least they took the grapes off the stems! I also ordered the cheese bread appetizer, I swear the menu had the wrong price. I would never agree to spend $20 for bread. If you do order this be warned its drizzled with copious amounts of balsamic drizzle and it was disgusting.Every item presented had zero seasoning. If you dont season a steak before cooking, you will never properly flavor it. An ACTUAL chef can tell the doneness of a steak by pressing on it, not this chef, he or she instead just cuts a gigantic gouge into it. It made for an ugly presentation. As for dessert, I was given a plate that came from the freezer. I think the cake was too. It was not good at all. They were extremely stingy with the fruit coulis too. These type of chain restaurants will cut corners anywhere they can to ensure profit over quality.. As for the coffee, I used to order illy brand at a restaurant all the time and it was so good. At Willard Hicks however, this brand of coffee was obviously over extracted and produced the worst cup of espresso/milk drink I have ever had, it left a sour and burnt taste in my mouth I could not even rinse out and lasted a very long time. I was so desperate to eat something that tasted good, I went down to Ice splash for some excellent frozen yogurt and fresh fruit, thank goodness for them, finally something with actual flavor.
