Chicken Meets Rice (inside EatUp by 99 Ranch)
10445 S De Anza Blvd Unit 101, Cupertino, CA 95014, United States
Found this place after scrolling through yelp, could not decide between sushi, ramen, or this restaurant. Nonetheless, what got me interested in this establishment was the surprising name, Chicken Meets Rice. Quite attention grabbing. This place is located in a mini food court next to the 99 Ranch Market. The manager, Jonathan, was kind and nice enough to explain and accommodate our requests to our order. What we had ordered:1) Split Protein Box: Fried Chicken, Tofu, Chicken Fried Rice, Chicken Broth, and Sweet Chili and Teriyaki Sauce.2) Grilled Chicken Box, Sticky Rice, Veggie Broth, Teriyaki and Sweet Chili Sauce. My friend and I enjoyed every bite of our meals. The concept of chicken and rice is simple, but the flavors were so delicious and flavorful. Super healthy with protein and a medley of vegetables with the rice. The broths were a good palate cleanser and not salty at all. I had not eaten the entire day, so I was super pleased that this was my first meal of the day!Would love to come here again! :)

I Heart Bento
10129 S De Anza Blvd, Cupertino, CA 95014, United States
This place has a great interior. Small, not meant to be a sit down place. Geared toward take-out.I got their chicken teriyaki bento box. First of all it looks stunning. I wish it tasted as good. The edamame salad was great. But the chicken was very dry and tasted like it had been cooked/reheated multiple times. Also the prices are a lot. I would have snapped a pic, if my battery didnt die inside the restaurant. This costed $10.95. So dont go by the Yelp prices anymore. Definitely $$.Overall, great ambience, food left something to be desired. Probably wont be back.

Sweet Maple
20010 Stevens Creek Blvd, Cupertino, CA 95014, United States
There always seems to be a ton of people at Sweet Maple, whether it’s the Cupertino or Palo Alto location. I stayed away for awhile until the hype subsided a bit. When I finally got a table with some coworkers, I was impressed by the creative selection of Asian fusion brunch dishes. The owner and many of the staff are Thai, which I wasn’t aware of but is cool. There’s another Thai-owned fusion restaurant called Son & Garden through the Bay that is similarly good for brunch. But Sweet Maple’s menu is definitely unique in their own right. The Tornado Omurice has a perfectly fluffy scrambled egg twisted atop seasoned rice with beef. The Loco Moco has a wonderful gravy and is loaded with mushrooms and vegetables. There are quite a few more menu items but I have only been there twice so I’ll need to try more over time. Would recommend this place to anyone who enjoys a contemporary fusion brunch.

Alexanders Steakhouse
19379 Stevens Creek Blvd, Cupertino, CA 95014, United States
Food: 4.8Service: 5Atmosphere: 4.2Alexanders Steakhouse in Cupertino is simply excellent. The food is delicious, the servers are attentive and friendly and the atmosphere is classy and chic. If youre a fan of good steak in the Silicon Valley area, this is the spot to get your fix.Weve tried several cocktails and glasses of wine and always enjoyed our selection. Ive enjoyed the 007 and Green Fairy while my girlfriend has always enjoyed the glasses of Chardonnay she has tried at Alexanders. The bread for the table is always a nice treat which includes some flaky croissants, french bread and a rosemary focaccia. They are all very tasty and served with butter which is a nice way to start off the meal.As far as appetizers go, weve always enjoyed what weve tried as well. They are fairly pricey and the portion size can vary pretty significantly:Popcorn Crab: This appetizer may be the best value for your money as the portion size was large enough to be an entree and it was delicious. Worth trying if youre a fan of crab and fried foods.Roasted Bone Marrow: This one is very nice and Ive ordered it a few times as Ive recently learned I love bone marrow. The bone marrow is not a huge appetizer but I decent serving size of bone marrow and absolutely delicious -- definitely recommend.Onigara King Crab Legs: These are a great choice as well. The crab legs have a nice spice to them and a reasonable serving size (when it comes to King Crab, anyway). If youre a fan of King Crab and dont mind a little heat these are the choice for you.Jamon Iberico Cinco Jotas: This mix of truffle burrata cheese and bread is a nice choice and very tasty. The value for your dollar is a bit lower here as its a pricey appetizer with a small portion size, but if youre a fan of burrata you may enjoy this choice. The entrees are almost excellent as well, and of course I am referring to the steak. Weve tried a few different types, but mainly I am always ordering the:Prime Bone-In Ribeye: Deliciously cooked and extremely tender steak. A nice amount of butter and scallions on top and often offered with a number of optional enhancements such as crab (Oscar style) or truffles which I am a fan of when they are available. The steak is cooked perfectly and has the right amount of delicious fat around the outside with juicy tender meat inside.Filet Mignon: Excellently cooked and very tender with very little fat, this is a nice choice for those with smaller appetites or who arent as big fans of the external fat found on the Ribeye. This is a favorite for my girlfriend and she definitely enjoys it so you wont go wrong with this option, either. They also have wonderful sides to accompany your meal, particularly:Lobster Macaroni & Cheese: Delicious! Im a huge fan of Lobster Mac & Cheese and this is the best Ive ever had. They use a cheese aged for a year and a sizable helping of lobster on top. This side is simply superb and if youre a fan of Lobster Macaroni & Cheese you have to order this while youre here. They have a small dessert menu and complimentary flavored cotton candy after your meal. They also generally try to do a little something extra if theyre aware its a special occasion for you, which is a nice touch.Overall the best steakhouse in Silicon Valley and a personal favorite of mine. I definitely recommend this to steak fans who are in the area and want a high-end steak experience.

Myungrang Hot Dog
19540 Vallco Pkwy Ste 150, Cupertino, CA 95014, United States
First time trying this place out with my daughter. Small, small shop in a huge shopping plaza surrounded by other shops and living spaces. The cashier was super ditzy (high schooler) perhaps ?. Im ordering corn dogs and asking questions explaining that it is our first time there, only to hear want a bag for 10 cents?... um she was too worried about a stupid bag and making sure to plug that into the system then maybe offering some help, recommendations, or suggestions to someone new. Asked if they had fountain drinks as I do not know what the system is there and she had an ugly attitude as if I was bothering her. She just gave bad vibes and had NO CUSTOMER SERVICE what so ever!Im a big foodie gal. The corn dogs looked nice but lacked flavor. I ordered the potatoe & mozzarella, rice cake and regular corn dog. The only one that was tasty was the regular corn dog. Potatoe mozzarella was flavorless. Add some flavor into your batter. The mozerella didnt even taste like mozzarella and my daughter also agreed. Is it good enough to come back for more? CERTAINLY NOT! ?Suggestion to the owner. Train your cashier on customer service. Add some flavor to your potatoe chunk batter. The mozzarella, I dont recognize it as cheese and does not taste Iike cheese AT ALL! Add some flavor to your sauces. The spicy mayo just tasted like a watered down hot sauce. Maybe add a few small high tables in and outside your restaurant. It would not hurt to have your customer stand at a high table (no seats required) to quickly enjoy a corn dog, you would totally increase your revenue and you welcome!

Bar Bonmot
19429 Stevens Creek Blvd, Cupertino, CA 95014, United States
My friends treated me out for my dinner here. I was excited to hear about a new nice-ish restaurant that was opening up so close by. it is located at Main Street Cupertino, so parking is pretty terrible. you have to park in the parking garage because it gets so busy.I got the the lychee de leche cocktail to start and enjoyed it. it came out pink and was super cute.as for the food --fluffy sweet potato: I was actually pretty hesitant about this one, but this was by far my favorite ones. if you get anything, get this one! the marinated salmon roe was a delicious contrast to the subtle sweet fluffy potatokaluga caviar: this was also a favorite. the creme fraiche and caviar was a great pairing, refreshing and a bit savory and creamy. the brioche was a perfect way to deliver boththe rest were only okay in my opinion, and I was not really wowed by their flavors like the other twobeef cold cut salad: this one sounded yummy but I felt like there was not a lot of beef, but a lot of bean sprouts. The chojang took over most of the taste here.day boat scallops: the scallops barely had any taste, and was overall pretty cold when we ate it. the house-xo was good but did not amp up any flavors in the dish.poached aori ika & shrimp: super excited about this one, the shrimp had a nice bite, which I enjoyed, but wish the kimchi broth was more executed into the shrimp and squid. Was coldtomato and nectarine: my friend couldnt eat this one because it was too spicy for her. thats all I remember about this dish!crispy chicken: This was the only thing that really filled us up! The pieces were pretty big, but very saucy! tbh, I am not a big fan of saucy chicken/wings, but if you like that, this could be good one for you.We debated on doing the tasting menu since we ended up almost trying the entire menu. This was for 3 people and we left feeling like we werent super full, but content.I felt like it wasnt really worth it since the menu was kinda pricey for what you get, and the flavors and quality werent up to par for me.this would be a good place to go for a small bite and a drink before heading on to the rest of your night.

Gochi Cupertino
19980 Homestead Rd, Cupertino, CA 95014, United States
I finally got to check out Gochi. I had Gochi bookmarked for a long time, I just dont frequent the area too often.Delicious Japanese home style comfort food: Gochi is located in a small plaza neighboring a Japanese Karaoke Bar on E. Homestead Rd. in Cuptown!! (Cupertino...for those no familiar with local lingo). They do have another location in Mountain View, Im not sure which one is the original. Theres a decent amount of parking in the plaza, but only if you arrive early...if not good luck! Gochi is a popular venue and gets packed! When we left there were several parties waiting to be seated and the wait times looked like it might have been an hour or more...We came early, didnt have a reservation, but were seated right away. They had some traditional Tatami seats available. Gochi is a good size venue with a decent amount of interior seating. They also have private rooms one can reserve for larger parties.Gochi is a bit on the Pricey side as the dishes arent very large and the menu is extensive. Thank God the food is delectable...do NOT come here hungry or Hangry or the Gods of Finance will most definitely frown upon you!On the the culinary delights:Yuzu Ceviche - 4/5- The tiny portion is my biggest complaint about this appetizer...errr morsel. I know...I know its an appetizer. The Ceviche was OK, nothing stood out for me, I had much better and more creative before and would rate this dish a solid 3. The extra bonus point came from the homemade potato chips...I thought they were store bought...well done.Hotate Uni Carpaccio - 4.5/5- Initially the flavor profile was a bit strange ans the Uni (Sea Urchin) seemed to overpower everything. IMHO this dish needed to sit for a while and let the flavors mature or mix / seep together if you will. We came to this conclusion because the last couple of pieces we had were the best. Loved the eccentric combination of Yuzu Soy and Truffle Oil with the Uni on top of each Scallop piece.Hon Maguro Akami Carpaccio - 5/5- Amazing! Just brilliant! Now I need to order about 10 more of these...lol. Fantastic dish! Great presentation and the Avocado Mousse, Sprouts, Soy and Truffle Oil just created this otherworldly flavor profile!Shisio Mentaiko Beefun - 4.5/5- Delightful, light with a unique flavor profile. The Vermicelli noodles were perfectly cooked in what I thought was Mustard leaves, but turned out to be Shiso leaves. The Roe was in the middle and needed a bit of mixing.Kani Tama - 4.5/5- This initially didnt look like an omelette and we couldnt see the Crab either. However after we started to dig in all the flavors came out and it turned out to be an amazing dish...just lacked the visual appeal. While I thoroughly enjoyed all the dishes we tried, IMHO everything was just lacking that elusive WOW factor that will blow your senses away....The service was brilliant and attentive. Ill definitely return if Im in the area or near the MV one.

Tasty Pizza
21000 Stevens Creek Blvd #200, Cupertino, CA 95014, United States
At first I liked the name. A place called Tasty Pizza implies that their pizza is tasty and who doesnt want tasty pizza? Then I started to think, is Tasty Pizza setting the bar too high. What if someone goes to Tasty Pizza for the first time with the expectation to get tasty pizza. If they end up getting tasty pizza, theyre not going to be impressed because thats what they were expecting to get. If the pizza ends up not being as tasty as they expected, then they will be thoroughly disappointed. I think a better name for this place would be Mediocre Pizza. That way when people try the pizza here theyll find out its way better than mediocre. The only problem with that name is that it would be tough to attract customers. Who would want to go to a pizza place for the first time if they thought the pizza was going to be mediocre? I guess a pizza place with a name like that would attract people with extremely low self-esteem that believe they dont deserve tasty pizza. It wouldnt be the worst business idea, I think theres a big market for people with low self-esteem.Maybe the best name would be Tasty Pizza?. Adding a question mark would make it less subjective because nothing can be tasty objectively. I would be more intrigued to go to a place like that. That name implies the restaurant itself doesnt even know if their own pizza is tasty. Theyre leaving it up to the hungry customers to decide. Anyways, at first I liked the name, but after I thought about it for way too long, I decided its not my favorite name, but their pizza is one of my favorites.

Amami Shima Sushi
19068 Stevens Creek Blvd, Cupertino, CA 95014, United States
As a Japanese person from Japan, Id say most Americans may think this is good sushi if theyve not tried any authentic ones. Just order the rolls and skip the Nigiris. Nigiris are cut pretty but I would almost consider it worthless. The name suggests a Japanese place but the place is entirely ran by Chinese owners, chefs and servers.Ordered:- 2 Sushi Deluxe (9 piece + rockn roll + miso soup per order)- Ankimo (4 pieces)- Oyster shots (2 spoons)- Mix-it-up roll- Tiger rollIntro:First of all, the male receptionist with spiky hair was flat out rude and a liar. We waited an hour outside and he came out and called peoples names on the wait-list. I noticed he skipped my name which was the next in line so I went in and checked with him, he said rudely that he called my name but I wasnt there so he skipped me. I responded by saying that I was there, he didnt call my name. He started mumbling something in Chinese with frustration and kept saying he called my name but I wasnt there. I started laughing because I thought he was joking as I was literally standing by the door, and turns out he was seriously lying to my face. (Maybe he couldnt pronounce my name? Who knows...) So I told him my car parked directly outside the door has a video recording if he wanted to see. Then he goes and speaks to one of the servers and gets me a table. He had a very entitled attitude and told me it happened because I didnt check in. (I walked in, put my name on the tablet wait-list, and spoke with the guy to make sure Im good, and replied to yelps text with confirmation, stood outside patiently and went in periodically to check the tablet for status for an hour so I dont know what I did wrong to make him angry?). At this point I was already feeling this was a terrible experience, in terms of service quality, for the money Ill be paying.Food:- Sushi Deluxe consisted of:3 Salmon, 2 Bincho Tuna, 2 Hamachi, 1 Aji and 1 Escolar. To me, anything that says Deluxe, I expect at least one piece of Ebi, Ikura, Chutoro, Otoro, or Uni. They provided the lowest and cheapest kind of Tuna ( Bincho Maguro), cheap Salmon (lean cut, no fat), borderline sickening Escolar (full of laxatives, Japanese dont use this for food). Hamachi and Aji were moderately good (when I say good, its Japanese supermarket sashimi grade). The best part was rockn roll as well as the wasabi that wasnt the typical paste-style youd find.We never got ginger, while other tables were served with it.Also, we didnt get our Miso soup until we had to ask 30mins into our dining experience.Marukai market has better salmon, tuna, and hamachi for much cheaper and fresher.- Ankimo:Tasted a bit old and stale but ok for the price. You can buy better ones at Korean supermarkets for cheaper and fresher.-Oyster Shots:I assume middle to low tier grade oyster, barely fresh. Covered by an overwhelming amount of flavorful toppings to cover/ fancy it up. Id say ok appetizer for the price but wouldnt have more than 1 for the fear of getting sick from old oyster. Also, one spoon had a tiny piece of Hamachi mixed in it accidentally. Could be extra bang for the buck but also shows the chefs dont care about contamination.- Mix-it-up roll:I like it. They have low tier fish so get them fried like Mix-it-up. It has 3 kinds of fish mixed up and lightly fried to cover the cheap taste.- Tiger roll was shrimp tempura, salmon and avocado, cant go wrong with that. Liked this too.Overall, youre paying for the premium looking pretty presentation, not sushi quality. I spent $140 for the two of us and the dining service and experience kinda sucked, tables are packed tight and the restaurant is not too clean. I almost regretted taking my date there but I promised her a genuine sushi experience next time.

Tiger Sugar Cupertino
19620 Stevens Creek Blvd #180, Cupertino, CA 95014, United States
I highly recommend trying the boba here. They have two sizes: boba is the regular size and pearl is the mini size. Although, I feel like the boba size is slightly larger than the typical boba you get from other places. I love how round and bouncy the boba is. It sounds weird because we usually think of boba as being spherical but if you try enough places, youll find some boba is not as round as it may seem.We got the #3 and #5. Its the black sugar milk boba and pearl with creme mousse and black sugar black tea latte with boba and creme mousse. I didnt expect it but I enjoyed the milk drink more than the tea latte. The tea latte is closer to milk tea but much more tea than milk taste. The milk drink has no tea, tastes really creamy and tastes more like milk tea than the tea latte. We arrived around 1:30 pm on a Saturday and were in line for about 45 minutes and got our drinks in about 5 minutes. The line was around the building to the backside and moves pretty consistently. There was a person going down the line to explain the menu and answer any questions. I really liked that touch and felt it was a great client experience since there are specific drinks that are not customizable to ensure the drink is consumed as it was designed. I appreciate to that this place thought ahead and share that information upfront to cut down on the amount of questions at the time of ordering. I also liked that after we order, we wait outside and theres a speaker where we can hear our number when the drinks are ready.
