Chins Szechwan - Encinitas
625 Encinitas Blvd, Encinitas, CA 92024, United States
I have to start by saying we use to love Chins. Weve been customers for a long time. Unfortunately the quality of the freshness of the food started to fail and not be consistent. We stopped going for a bit but returned to enjoy their generous lunch specials. We enjoyed bringing family and friends as was the case today. We started with shrimp wonton soup but the shrimp tasted awful. I didnt say anything in case it was just me. I noticed one other family member put their shrimp on the side of the bowl. Going on to our meals, we had 2 honey walnut shrimp oreders and Kung pao shrimp. This is something we have ordered many times. Again the shrimp tasted terrible like they were spoiled or going bad. I said nothing until I noticed the other person not eating it as well. When I finally asked, they thought the same thing, that the shrimp were spoiled. We kindly and I promise it was very kind, told them we like their restaurant and this had never happened before but the shrimp could possibly be going bad and did not taste good. He answered, maybe we used a different distributor but I will tell the manager. We heard him speaking to the manager and waited and waited. He finally came over and asked if we wanted to take it home. We said no. He picked up our plates and returned with our check. The manager never came to speak with us, they didnt offer even a 10%discount or replacement meal. We are locals and want to support local businesses but not with the risk of getting sick or bad customer service. P.S. We are the type of people that are quick to put a good word in not just complain so I dont do this lightly.
Surf Brothers Teriyaki and Catering
274 N El Camino Real A, Encinitas, CA 92024, United States
I have been eating here (and its previously named iterations) for more than 20 years. It is my favorite place for teriyaki.Their rice is so so so good. Sticky and slightly sweet. It is a great vehicle for the teriyaki sauce. And the chicken and steak are both cooked well, they arent greasy or full of connective tissue. Now, the sauce. This sauce is to die for. I would buy it by the gallon, if they sold it that way. I moved from Encinitas to Santee almost 7 years ago, and I still drive up to eat, and buy sauce to go. They do sell bottles of sauce. Its sweet, but not too sweet. It doesnt have that excessive saltiness that is common with most store bought teriyaki. The viscosity is perfect, so it can be used for dipping, or pour it onto foods directly, and you arent going to end up with too little or too much.I dont have photos of the delicious food, the generous portions, or the glorious sauce. It is consumed far too quickly. Its just too good to wait.
Hooked on Sushi
272 N El Camino Real, Encinitas, CA 92024, United States
I had the pleasure of dining at Hooked on Sushi, and it was an experience that I think is worth sharing. It was an unusual scenario because I arrived just 20 minutes before closing time. Despite the timing, the staff welcomed me with open arms and displayed genuine warmth and hospitality.I could tell they were preparing to wrap up for the day, but they didn't let this show in their demeanor or in the quality of their service. If anything, they seemed to go the extra mile to ensure my dining experience was as good as any other customer's would be at peak hours.I want to commend the staff for their professional conduct. I understand that my late arrival could have been an inconvenience, and I appreciate their graciousness in accommodating me. The level of service I received was beyond what I expected, and it's not something you come across every day.As for the sushi, it was a feast for the taste buds. Every piece was a perfect blend of flavors and freshness, testament to the chefs' skills and passion. In conclusion, Hooked on Sushi not only won me over with their fantastic food but also with their exceptional customer service. They've set the bar high for hospitality in the industry, and I can't wait for my next visit. My sincere thanks to the team at Hooked on Sushi - I hope this review conveys just how much I appreciated your efforts last night.
Harumama Noodles Buns Beer (Encinitas)
1460 Encinitas Blvd, Encinitas, CA 92024, United States
A Saucy Tale of Love, Loss, and Ramen!Alright, yall, lets gab about Harumama, the local belly-lovin gem smack dab in the plaza where Ive clocked more hours than I care to admit (dont judge me, okay?).First off, yes, the service. Its like a good date - attentive, charming, and occasionally tardy. But hey, arent we all? Theyre worth the wait, promise. Now, onto the tragedy of our tale. Imagine my shock, my heartbreak, when I found out that my beloved pulled chicken bao buns had been banished from the menu! I mean, I mightve shed a tear. Just one, mind you.And yes, sure, they sometimes run out of stuff. But hey, the early bird gets the bun...whatever the saying is. You get my drift. But fear not, dear reader, for there is a silver (or should I say, spicy) lining. Allow me to introduce you to my new infatuation - Me so hot! Ramen. Talk about a meal and a half, folks! Packed with enough punch to keep me fuelled from lunchtime till the stars come out.And their character buns? Think doughy deliciousness meets a Pixar movie. Irresistible, I tell ya!I still adore Harumama. Would I eat there more? Heck yes. But you know what they say, you are what you eat. And as much as I love em, Im not quite ready to be as soft and squishy as their buns. You dont want to turn into a bun, do you? Or... do you?
Poki Poki - Encinitas
1042 N El Camino Real G, Encinitas, CA 92024, United States
I was in the area running some errands. Before heading back home, I offered to get lunch for me, my dad, and sister. For some reason I've been craving Poki and when I saw this place, I was like oh that is what I am going to get for lunch. I called to place my order, which was 3 bowls with the whole shibang. It was the my first time ordering from here, so I thought why not go all out. When I was ready to go pick up, I didn't realize the one I called to place an order for was not the location I was thinking I was picking up from. I did not realize this mistake until the workers at the location I was at told me I called the other location. I was appalled. I was driving almost in circles trying to find this location. I had to park and call. Luckily, the location I called the worker was nice and understanding as I wasn't the first person whose gotten confused with the locations. Despite that mix up, the food was delicious. I realized I forgot to ask for extra sauce as I was so frazzled about getting lost. However, getting the whole shibang there was enough flavor that extra sauce was not necessary if you didn't have any. Additionally, the one bowl portion size was very filling. I had leftovers that was eaten over 2 days, and it was still good. This place is recommended if you're craving some Poki.

My food is always correct, and they always do their best to accommodate any extra things you may ask for. They are also very quick when I order via doordash, I've never had to wait for my order. Love this place and their team ❤️

Inn at Moonlight Beach
105 N Vulcan Ave, Encinitas, CA 92024, United States
Tucked away in a lush garden setting on the side of a hill lies this wonderful retreat that focuses on connecting with nature and with oneself. We had a one night reservation so we got there right around the 3pm check-in time to make the most of our stay. The staff was very welcoming and friendly. The property was smaller than I thought it would be, but the fact that the Inn is only a 6 room bed and breakfast adds to the intimacy of the place, and made it feel so cozy. The property and our room was so clean, and the Covid measures they had in place felt very safe and made me feel comfortable. We stayed in the Rosemary room which is one of the rooms on the bottom level. The room had an outside deck to sit at which overlooked the outside gardens which is a shared common space for the other rooms as well. A couple of guests were enjoying the outside table next to the water feature the next morning, but that did not bother me, and the deck still felt fairly private at night. The garden was lovely to walk through and you can feel free to clip some fresh herbs from the garden to enjoy at home. There are many succulent plants growing there, and you can purchase them to take home, with the smallest plants starting at two dollars. The holistic vibe continues with a focus on the healing energy of nature such as through crystals, for instance there is a large selenite globe in your room, and you can purchase other crystals from the small display cases in the lobby. I purchased some honey, fresh preserves, and bath salts to take home. The room was very comfortable with a sitting area, and a nice kitchenette including a microwave, dishes, and utensils. The bed was very comfy and I slept wonderfully. The humidifier, and the sound machine, which you could change to hear sounds of the ocean, rainfall, etc, added to the relaxing vibe. There was a very large flat screen TV, but did not feel the need to turn it on because it was so peaceful just listening to the sound machine, or my bluetooth speaker I brought from home, or the croaking of the frogs out in the garden at night. The included herbal flower tea bath set was a great way to end the day in the deep soak bathtub, tea light candles are also provided to add to the ambiance. The included fresh herbal tea setup served in a clear glass kettle that is kept warm over a tea light burner, as well as a snack plate with dried fruits, nuts, and organic chocolates, is a lovely welcome in your room upon check in. Breakfast is delivered outside your room in the morning. It is not a hot breakfast, but was still a very delicious assortment of items such as yogurt parfaits, bakery goods, fruit, and boiled eggs, which you can pre-select the night before. In addition to the many complimentary offers, the availability of the various add-ons is a great way to enhance the experience of your stay. For my birthday stay here I added the herbal foot soak which is enjoyed out on the deck, and was served with more hot herbal tea to enjoy. I also added the Full Moon package which included extras such as a large charcuterie board, sparkling wine, a large fresh flower bouquet from the garden, a meditation kit including items such as a selenite stone, and complementary late checkout. The Inn is a short walk to Moonlight Beach, be sure to stop at the very unique rock garden on your way there. The nearby Cottonwood Creek park was lovely to stroll through, and downtown Encinitas is a short walk away as well. Just be advised that there is no sidewalk from the Inn down to the street corner, so be aware of cars, or when walking at night. I walked to nearby Chiko, they served delicious Asian fusion cuisine and brought it back to our room, but you can also have food delivered to the Inn from one of the nearby restaurants if you don’t want to walk at night. I would highly recommend the Inn at Moonlight Beach for anyone looking for a peaceful place to relax and recharge!
East Village Asian Diner
628 S Coast Hwy 101, Encinitas, CA 92024, United States
Oh my God this is actually the most amazing and delicious restaurant in San Diego. I was walking by it one day and decided to try it and Im so happy I did.Ive Only gotten the Mongol pot (I think thats what its called) and its so good. All it is is a bunch of vegetables, some meat of your choice (they also have vegan options and you dont even need to order meat), white or brown rice, and an egg. You can also substitute the rice with kale and add or take away anything you want. They serve it in a really hot bowl that keeps the food warm the entire time youre eating it (its what makes the food so delicious). However, you should take their advice and never touch the bowl under any circumstances ever unless you want to burn yourself. Anyways, so on top you can add their sauces and some Sriracha and it all melts together. to be honest Im not even the biggest fan of vegetables but they become so tender and flavorful that it would be a shame to eat the bowl without it.In terms of the restaurant, its very rustic and clean. The waiter that works their is really chill and cool so Ive never had a problem with the service. The price of the bowl is around $9 with no meat and with beef (which is what I highly recommend) its around $14 after taxes. You get so much food and its so delicious that its really worth it in my opinion.Tl;dr If you are looking for a healthy place to eat thats extremely delicious and unique, I highly recommend eating here.
CHIKO
101 N Coast Hwy 101, Encinitas, CA 92024, United States
Had a yummy lunch at Chinese Korean fusion restaurant CHIKO. We sat on the dog friendly patio where you order through QR codes on the table. We ordered the XO shrimp, spicy kumin lamb stir fry, and pork belly bao. The staff is very friendly and helpful and the food comes out quick. Recommend, not many Asian fusion restaurants in the area.
