Aama Kitchen
22556 Foothill Blvd, Hayward, CA 94541, United States
Aamas Kitchen really surprised me. The starters are that the restaurant has a cozy and well decorated interior with a great staff. The dining experience almost felt as if long time friends or family were serving us a nice meal at their home. Not only is that rare but it really makes every bite feel a bit more special because of the hospitality. It also seemed like this restaurant has regulars and thats a great sign that its a genuine experience.I came here looking for momos and thali and these did not disappoint. The jhol momo is served in a delicate and light but surprising soup that really hits the taste buds just right. It was also stuffed and pretty massive so eating through a plate of these was quite a delight. The thali had a pretty nice spread of excellent dal, goat meat cooked in a curry sauce and a vegetables curry. It comes with a little dessert and some condiments, rice, crispy roti/ crackers thing. The spice and aroma was just right and I loved tasting all the little dishes. Impressively the vegetables curry was the best!! Something I might not usually say lol.I think I have eaten thali before only with a softer roti/ naan and would recommend ordering some too if you get this dish. We also got some panipuri which were really great- I have had them with a soury tamarind juice before but these had a light chutney type sauce which was super delicious. And we balanced the spicy meals with a mango lassi. All wonderful food, and a wonderful dining experience.

Wakamatsu
22724 Foothill Blvd, Hayward, CA 94541, United States
Pictured: the sign of a very happy meal! (Bonus picture of the clock and dining counter)My SO and I decided to impromptu go out since it was Friday night and we hadnt had sushi in a considerable while so we found a new place to try. The location is in a good spot of downtown where parking isnt too difficult, and the building itself is very cozy and has a pleasant, intimate feel with large windows to prevent the space from feeling claustrophobic. But what good would all of this do if the food wasnt worth it?The menu is very broad and diverse, with full meal options (my SO and I did the Wakamatsu dinner and split it along with a Lion King roll), and having sampled their teriyaki beef, the tonkatsu, their sashimi, the rolls, and the sake, everything was hands down fantastic. The sashimi melted in our mouths, it was pretty fantastic, and the potstickers were very authentic - handmade and clearly traditional (Im a potsticker snob and these guys kick butt!)My SO and I agreed, were definitely coming back with friends!

Veggie Lee Restaurant
1169 W A St, Hayward, CA 94541, United States
It's not often I can go to a restaurant and order everything on the menu. I usually have to scan the menu for something plant-based or at least pescatarian. At Veggie Lee, a vegan Chinese restaurant, the sky's the limit. The restaurant also accommodates the practice of some Buddhists who eschew garlic and onions. Those ingredients are not included in any of Veggie Lee's dishes and that fact is clearly marked on the menus.I have ordered Veggie Lee offerings through delivery service many times. I have only eaten in the restaurant twice. On this visit, I ordered from the lunch menu. My rating is more a reflection of the limited wheelchair access within the restaurant than the food or the service. My dining partner and I ordered pot stickers as an appetizer. The filling was wonderfully textured and flavorful. The outer shell was soft and crisp. I could have made a meal of potstickers and may do so in the future. We had hot tea with the meal and I heartily recommend the citron honey tea, a cold drink I've had with many Veggie Lee delivery orders. My entree was preceded by hot and sour soup. The spicy soup with small tofu chunks was an unexpected delight and prepared my palate for the entree, vegan sesame chicken.I ordered the vegan chicken with brown rice. It was so tasty. The flavor and texture made me want to be more adventurous and try more items on Veggie Lee's menu in the future. The sesame chicken entree came with broccoli. My years of plant-based eating have led me beyond broccoli. It was well-prepared, but I'm not in love with broccoli any more. Sorry, broccoli. It's me, not you. We also ordered green beans. The crispy green beans were packed with flavor, but were salty in spots. The disappointing part of my dining experience occurred when I had to use the restroom. The spaces between tables and booths are narrow. As long as waitstaff wasn't taking someone's order, I could clear the pathways in a small manual wheelchair. The barriers started when I left the dining area and approached the hallway to the restrooms. There were high chairs for children stacked at the beginning of the hallway. I could barely scrape (and I did scrape) by. With a larger wheelchair or mobility device, I wouldn't have been able to access the restroom without asking for help. Asking for help to the restroom is not something adults enjoy doing. The sink in the ladies room is far, far away from the counter edge. I had to lean far, far forward to reach it. That isn't something I can do all the time. The thought of having to leave the restroom without washing my hands is not a good thought. My recommendations to the restaurant to improve accessibility (because I'd like to come back) are to 1) consider replacing the sink and counter with something that isn't set so far back or, at least, give customers the option of using hand sanitizer in an accessible location within the restroom; 2) consider replacing restroom doors with ones that aren't so heavy; and 3) please, please, please move the high chairs.

Bamboo Steamer
24297 Hesperian Blvd, Hayward, CA 94545, United States
Wow, great reviews but unfortunately it was a meh for me. We arrived at 10:30am right when they opened. We were seated quickly and informed the worker that I made reservations via Yelp. We looked at the menu and its not huge and placed our orders.Due to COVID they still serve their food on foam plates and other restaurants are already serving their dishes on regular plates. My visit was on 6/12/2021.Food:Steamed Spareribs with Black Bean SauceGolden Crunchy Shrimp BallsCrispy Fried Salt & Pepper TofuSteamed Pork BunsXiao Long BaoPork ShumaiPork DumplingThe Pork Buns were served cold on the inside that I had to return it and ask for another one. :( The spareribs was okay and the highlight was the shrimp balls. The XLB, shumai and dumplings were also okay. Nothing really stood out. They did not have hot mustard which is a bummer cause I love hot mustard with all of my Dim Sum Dishes.Overall, this is not a place I would return to. The food was lacking and the service was meh and we were the only ones in there

Chefs Experience China Bistro
22436 Foothill Blvd, Hayward, CA 94541, United States
My boyfriend and I decided to drive back to Chefs again tonight and had the most horrible experience ever. We walked in and the host greeted us by telling us they were only taking cash..?? We left to grab cash to come back as we drive two hours just to come eat here. We came back, got sat and the server Jesus came by and asked if we were ready. No type of greeting or smile on his face. We ordered and didn't think much of it since this is how we get treated majority of times we come. When Jesus drops the bills we notice it's higher then usual so we take a look at it and notice he added the tip without following any of their policies they have such as a party of 6 or higher or a bill higher then 100$. We ask Jesus why he added the service charge and he immediately got aggressive and yells out in-front of everyone “because we don't tip” however we usually get Rose as a server and always leave cash for her instead of leaving it on card. As we were trying to have a conversation with him he walks away.We ask to speak to the manager and he says “here I took it off don't worry about it” We wait to speak to the manager or owner as he said he was and I was just in disbelief on how he handled the situation. My boyfriend and I are BOTH servers so completely understand the situation. The manager basically discriminated us because of our color and told us we were not welcomed back although we were passive and collected and he totally just flashed on us.It is sad and disappointing that we won't be able to come back as this one of our favorite spots however they were racist and discriminating us from the beginning. If that was the case they should of told us from the beginning that we couldn't eat there instead of having us waste our money and get yelled at in front of the entire restaurant by both Jesus and the Owner!

Chai Thai Noodles
20955 Mission Blvd, Hayward, CA 94541, United States
Food Critic - Poor Customer ServiceAs a food critic, this was the worst customer service I have experienced in a long time!! My party of 6 was first on their waiting list. We had waited for 45 mins. In that time frame, they had seated 7 groups of 2-4 people whom came in after my party. None of the staff came to check up or inform anyone in my party of the time frame. Therefore, we had made all the effort to check in with the staff to see how long the wait time would be. After the first time, we waited 10 more mins. At this time we decided we didn't want to wait any longer so we had asked to have our order to go. One of the hostess went & grabbed two menus and “slammed” it on our table (I had seated myself at the bar.) In trying to give them multiple opportunities to readjust their poor customer service attitude, we decided to look through the menu & at least order something to go so I can review the food. When we were ready to order, the original waitress came to take our order which at that time, she said they had a table ready for us. At this time it was way too late. She then proceeded to tell us that a to go order or done in would both take 45 mins. Wow, it would have been good to know that from the beginning. Now we have spent 1 hour in the restaurant waiting for nothing. The staff needs more training in how to inform customers more consistently & to at least check up on waiting customers. So yes, 1 star for poor customer service. I never made it to tasting their food, but with a wait time & poor customer service like that, I wouldn't waste my time again. Rude staff & poor customer service is not worth my time in my line of work. The staff did not seem to care if we stayed or left. After reading several reviews regarding their “poor customer service,” I understand where all those customers are coming from.

Buon Appetito
917 A St, Hayward, CA 94541, United States
So I have seen this place busy in the evenings. We went close to 3pm and it was not busy. I was excited to try their food and also went for a birthday dinner. First off my little boy noticed that the cups were dirty and the plates werent washed well either. The lady mentioned that cups looked like that because maybe the water wasnt change which I guess would explain why the cups were greasy. She then took the cups to switch them out supposedly. When she came back she filled the glasses quickly. My husband noticed lip marks on the glass before he even drank out of it and thankfully he noticed. That drew the line. When we walked out the waitress didnt care to ask why and said have a nice day with a smirk on her face.I am really bummed out that it didnt work out and I really hope this review will help so that this does not happen to someone else. Also, a word of advice for the host.. you should always go pressed and polished to work. First impressions are very important!

Red Chili Thai Vietnamese Restaurant
29583 Mission Blvd, Hayward, CA 94544, United States
Great place to go to when you are craving some Asian fusion foods. From the appetizers to the main course and the desserts, foods here are exceptional and consistent in flavor and taste. They combine many areas of Asia into their menus, which are not limited only to Chinese, Vietnamese, Thailand, and Burmese.Pros: Free parking, clean and good atmosphere, spacious, and really good menu selections, Service is good, but on extra busy nights, you will have to flag down the servers to get their attention, and you can really taste the freshness of the ingredients they use. Cons: Only a few spaces in front of the restaurant, and the extra lot of parking spaces is in the back, needs some updating, they seem to be family-run, so not a great system in place, have waited long for some orders. The prices are also a bit on the higher end.Their Thai Teas are really good, and appetizers we like are the satay chicken skewers, calamari, and the sampler plate. Main dishes the family orders are pho noodle soup, grilled beef over rice, pad thai, and you cant go wrong with any of their desserts.
