Blazing King BBQ & HOTPOT
72600 Dinah Shore Dr, Palm Desert, CA 92211, United States
As residents of Rancho Mirage, my partner and I were eager to try the newly opened Blazing King BBQ & HOTPOT. However, our visit took a turn for the worse, leaving us deeply disappointed.I recently visited Blazing King BBQ & HOTPOT in Palm Desrt, and unfortunately, my experience left much to be desired. While the initial wait time for seating was reasonable for a party of two, the service that followed was truly disappointing.Upon being seated, the decline in our experience became apparent. Despite being seated ahead of a party of six, we were left waiting with menus in hand, without any acknowledgment from the staff. Even as the table of six near us was promptly attended to and had their orders taken, my party was left unattended for over 20 minutes.Adding to the frustration, the lack of water or even basic courtesy during the wait was noticeable. What stood out most was the restaurants policy regarding gratuity for larger parties, which seemed to influence the waitstaffs priorities. The table of six, subject to an automatic 19% gratuity, received immediate attention, while our table of two was overlooked. The menu indicated that a 19% gratuity would automatically be applied to parties of six or more. This appeared to influence the waiters priorities, as the larger group received immediate attention, leaving us wondering about the fairness of the service.Even more disappointing was the waiters apparent selective engagement. Despite making eye contact, the waiter neglected to approach our table, leaving us without answers to questions or guidance on ordering. After 20 minutes of patiently waiting, we reluctantly made the decision to leave and informed the hostess of our choice to dine elsewhere.Regrettably, the lack of concern from the staff upon our departure was disheartening. As residents who were excited to support a new addition to our citys dining scene, our experience left us with no intention of returning to Blazing King BBQ & HOTPOT.In contrast, our go-to spot, YouGrill in La Quinta, consistently delivers outstanding service and a more enjoyable dining experience. The disappointment of this visit only solidifies our preference for establishments that prioritize customer satisfaction. In conclusion, the lackluster service, unequal treatment of tables, and overall disregard for our experience at Blazing King BBQ & HOTPOT left us with a negative impression. As much as we wanted to support a local venture, we cannot recommend this restaurant to others seeking a satisfying dining experience.

Sakura Palm Teriyaki House

I ordered the curry chicken Katsu. It seemed to take quite a long time to make and I was the only one in the entire place.1. The chicken. It was dark meat and not very thick. Almost loose pieces of chicken. Not bad tasting but just little scraps and the panko breading didnt stick very well to it. (2 stars)2. Curry. I like the curry sauce to be thick. This was not. Flavor was ok but I hate when they add so many vegetables that there isnt much room for the sauce. (1 star)3. The rice. It was sticky. Not sure if it was old or it was sushi rice. Or both. But it was not fresh. Not horrible but teetering edible. (1 star)4. Time to service. Very slow. (1 star)5. Service. I did not expect that I would have to fetch my food from the counter as the cook waved at me like I was working for him. Most of these other problems I already mentioned may have been overlooked but after the long wait and the cook or server lady couldnt even be bothered (with not a single other customer in the store) to take my food out to me. And what do you know, you are asked to pretip. If you know me, you know that I hate pretip places. I have not found a single pretip place that has given even decent service, let alone TIPPED service. I honestly thought this place would be the exception. It looks like a husband and wife struggling to keep this place above water but they dont seem to really want to work for it. I actually gave a higher tip because I was hoping this would break my observation that any pretip gives bad service and instead, I get a long wait and the cook snapping his fingers at me to get my meal that I paid for and tipped for. Why couldnt the server take it out? (0 stars)5. Value. Overall I was not satisfied for the price. I also ordered a mini can of imported soda from Japan. I did not think I would be paying imported prices. A half a can is 5 bucks and I hate how they dont put the price on it. 25 bucks for scraps of chicken with poorly made curry and zero service. (1 star)This business isnt for everyone.

Blue Orchid Thai Bistro

This is the second visit to Blue Orchid and the only thing that is great is the service. Out of three dishes, one was edible. The dishes were very sweet and extremely Americanized even for Asian fusion cuisine. All the dishes had the same vegetables and pricing was $$ for quality. Disappointing for a Thai owned restaurant cooking THAI dishes. A visit down the street on Hwy 111 will bring a more authentic Thai cuisine at a better value. A misrepresentation for a touch of Thai, 5 star reviewers should check their taste palate.

This is our go-to restaurant for good Asian fusion food alone and with a group. The food & staff are excellent, with a varied menu to please everyone. We especially like the Vietnamese dishes, such as the Bun bowls, that we cant get anywhere else in the valley. Highly recommend!

Dragon Sushi
72261 CA-111, Palm Desert, CA 92260, United States
Legitimately the worst sushi experience Ive ever had in my LIFE. 0 sarcasm.Half of the party of 6 I went with got food poisoning and threw up multiple times in the bathrooms. The vegetables smelt and felt dry, old, and genuinely kinda gross in every regard after we inspected them. Everyone at the table who got something with cucumber got sick very quickly, except for my buddy whos food came out 30 minutes after everyone elses and then the waitress had the GALL to tell him he didnt order anything, because he had seen what happened and picked out all the cucumber. The rice was oddly buttery and wasnt stellar. The tuna tasted overly fishy and I could barely finish one piece of the Nigiri. Also, when the waitress was informed of the horrible food quality she offered us miso soups INSTEAD of the dishes they had ordered initially. One said yes, 2 said no, and 3 soups were brought out anyways. We asked to speak with the manager because one party did not eat most of their food, and 3 other parties had caught food poisoning from their dishes so we wanted them off the bill. The waitress then told us that we ate too much of it and couldnt do anything and included that there Was no manager today. We then asked the hostess Gloria who, was an absolute saint and I genuinely hopes she escapes that hell hole, if we could speak to the manager. She told us he was in a meeting and that it would be about 30-45 minutes. So we waited. The manager, Johnathan, came out very dismissive and when we told him all of the issues he had the sheer audacity and look us in the eye and say Food poisoning takes 24 hours, there is nothing I can do which is such a gross inaccuracy. Half of us work in the food industry and 2 others are in active nursing programs, and it was clear this man didnt pay attention or had forgotten all of his food safety training. After a brief argument he acquiesced to removing a single spider roll, and discounting one dinner box. He also rung up those 3 soups that werent asked for, and were offered as replacements ON TOP of everything else. completely negating the comped and discounted items. The bill came out to 206 dollars and some odd cents, and gratuity was automatically factored in. I paid, left no tip, some of the group went to go throw up again, and we left. But it still doesnt end here. Upon leaving we stood around out front debating what the next course of action was for the rest of the day, and we noticed that the establishment did not have their food rating card in the window! One of the members of our group took a recording of the entire window window front showing that it wasnt up, on either Dragon Sushi or Dragon Cafe.Further research revealed some very interesting information such as what penalties the health department had given them during the last inspection, including but not limited to:Floors, Walls, and Ceilings - Not clean/fully enclosedRodents, Birds, or Insect problemUnsafe food containmentAnd the list goes on.All in all, please go anywhere else. Edoko, Joes, hell drive to Sams Sushi but please please please, for your own safety avoid this place at ALL COSTS.Even if it wasnt literally the worst food Ive ever put in my body, it was EXTREMELY overpriced compared to the competition. There was a cool Captain America picture though. +1 for atmosphere.

Ph Vu

This place needs an update. I went in with my baby after asking the front desk staff if they had tempura. (Fried veggies) he said yes, and this was the only reason I took in my son to have lunch. We sat down and were offered menus and water. I ordered but it was very complicated to order. When I asked about tempura or fried veggies the server had no idea what I was talking about. When I asked about ordering any other sides he only offered rice or noodles. I got pork rolls wrapped in rice paper for my son, but the meat was so little amount in there and low quality, I picked it out and ended up not giving it to him. (By low quality I mean just not tasting good, tough, fatty, idk but tasted bad.) Other than the very little meat in his wraps it was filled with just a bunch of lettuce and shredded carrots, so I tried to take it out and mix it with some noodles from my pho vu veggie & tofu bowl I got, but it ended up being not a good meal for him. I ordered the veggie and tofu soup/noodle bowl which had like 3 small pieces of tofu in it. The server never came back to check on us. I based my whole experience on coming in because they said they had fried veggies or tempura, which did not exist there. Something easy for my son to eat. I spent $20+ on a meal I couldnt eat, chose not to because of the experience. I couldnt let my son not eat so went elsewhere. On top of that when I first got there, a lady was complaining she got charged for an extra meal she should not be paying for, there was no reconciliation or apology on Pho Vus part but she had to assert the fact she would not pay. Umm..? Also as a third experience in close proximity to mine, the lady next to my table after her meal asked what is this? while holding up a piece of meat looking thing. The server told her tendon, and she tried to explain her discomfort which he was ignoring, the fact they served her a plate she didnt want. She put her finger to her tongue in disgust because he did not get it the first or second time, or chose to ignore what she was saying. He had the audacity to say, other than that, was everything great? with a thumbs up. Like, THAT WAS HER WHOLE MEAL! What she came in for! To eat something she likes. I was just blown away by the lack of anything logic in this restaurant. Really, really disappointing. What is happening with restaurants today?

Crpe(ing) Ramen
72840 CA-111 353 Floor 2, Palm Desert, CA 92260, United States
Went in for an early lunch time, ramen arrived at my table in like 5 min since only a bit of people was there. I ordered the seafood broth one with garlic oil, then later ordered iced Oolong Tea from table. Honestly, its not an authentic Japanese ramen as I remember, but it was a perfect bowl of ramen. The broth, vegetables and noodle didnt have much salt and the soup held only a healthy amt of oil (while still being flavorful), in which was complimented by the oily and salty pork belly and soy sauce flavored egg. So basically youre trapped in the cycle of meat/ egg to veggies/ noodle/ broth then back to the meat/ egg. On top of that, the bitterness of the black garlic oil made everything million times better. Some shrimps were the best added bonus.I wont go into the Oolong tea but I think we all know how they feel on our brain during the ramen time. One more thing, the employee was very helpful and cool with everything. Nice person.Overall, if you like ramen, give this place a shot. You wont regret.
