Boiling Avenue
943 Howe Ave, Sacramento, CA 95825, United States
The tl;dr version: their online reservation system doesnt work, and the food takes an eternity to arrive and be cooked, but other than that the restaurant is pretty good. Full review below...I hate leaving negative reviews for local shops like this, and maybe I caught them on an off day, but they really need to work out some issues.1) Both Google and their website offers an online reservation system. I tried it and it sent off a request to somewhere for approval. I thought I was set, but when arriving at the restaurant, I was told that they only take reservations on the phone. Ended up on the waitlist for 30 mins for a table. Not the best start, but fine.2) Probably took a good 10 minutes after being seated before anyone came by with water.3) Placed our order and waited around 30 minutes for it to arrive. When the food gets to us, I find that everything is completely uncooked, the broth is lukewarm, and now I have to wait at least another 10 minutes for it to reach boiling temperature and for ingredients to cook. What is up with this. Every other hot pot place Ive been to delivers the pot to you with the pot already boiling or near-boiling, so you can usually start to dig right in. So I really found myself questioning why in the world it took a kitchen 30 minutes to throw a bunch of raw vegetables into a lukewarm broth. To be fair to the restaurant, it was a Saturday night, the place was full, and it seemed like the wait staff were a bit stretched thin. Dont know what the kitchen was like. The food and drinks, after they eventually made their way to us and got cooked, were pretty good, flavorful, and seemed authentic. Prices are fair with good serving sizes. And the wait staff were friendly and helpful. The restaurant decor itself is also very neat and pretty. My gripe was that this became almost a 2-hour dining experience when it really could have and should have been much less. I could easily have put together my own hot pot meal at home in much less time than that, though admittedly I wouldnt be able to make as good of a broth. Still wasnt worth the wait though.

Lotus Fusion
1620 W El Camino Ave, Sacramento, CA 95833, United States
Over the course of the past year, I have observed a consistent decline in the quality of the cuisine offered by Lotus Fusion. Initially, I was quite taken by their culinary prowess and was compelled to provide them with numerous opportunities for redemption, as their food once demonstrated exceptional standard.Unfortunately, my most recent order served as the final straw in my patronage of this establishment. The dishes I ordered included Beef and Broccoli, Chicken Fried Rice, Chicken Chow Mein, and a side of Salt and Pepper Chicken Wings. Upon delivery, the typically tantalizing aroma associated with their fare was notably absent, a precursor to the disappointment that was to follow.Upon consumption, it became discernibly clear that the food lacked the freshness one would expect. The fried rice was unpalatably hard and exhibited an unusual dark coloration. The chicken wings were excessively dry and tough, lacking the succulence typically expected from such a dish. The Beef and Broccoli dish fell short of expectations, with the flavors not aligning with the traditional taste profile. The chicken incorporated in the Chow Mein was dehydrated, and the noodles possessed an off-putting stale taste.I promptly contacted the establishment and requested a refund, indicating the subpar quality of the food. The response from the cashier was defensive, asserting that the food was prepared fresh, a claim I found hard to believe given my experience. Upon returning the food, the owner was present but remained silent throughout the interaction.Consequently, Lotus Fusion has, regrettably, lost a loyal customer due to their compromised food quality and lack of proper customer service.

Andy Nguyens Vegetarian Restaurant
2007 Broadway, Sacramento, CA 95818, United States
I recently became vegan to support my sisters choice to be vegan herself, and to benefit from the affects of eating vegan. I have done it before, but with work, college, and 5 kids, its a challenge!Anyway, my husband and I had a chance to go out so I googled a vegetarian/vegan friendly restaurant. I found Andy Nguyens. It looked really good and we loved how the founders of the restaurant are Vietnamese refugees, and their kids still keep up the hard work of managing the restaurant! We ate outside, in the back. It was so nice. Even though it was around 100 degrees today, it didnt feel like it in our little oasis. There were huge pots of bamboo encircling the dining area, and oscillating fans with mist spraying to cool off the whole place. There were so many umbrellas to keep the sun off us that it was like a roof. They even had vegetables and herbs growing in pots in a separate section than the dining area. We really enjoyed the entire ambiance. But, most importantly, the food was BOMB! We wanted to try everything! But we decided on Maha mushrooms, patience noodles, fried okra (all 3 pictures I shared), Limitless compassion, Nirvana lemon salad, and the hot chili sauce.We. Were. Blown. Away. We were moaning and groaning with culinary delight. Lol!I very enthusiastically recommended the Maha mushrooms! They are 10x better than fried calamari. So! Freaking! Delicious! Crispy, flavorful crust, chewy, yet soft and spongy inside! They were served with something like mae ploi, a sweet and spicy (but not so spicy) sauce. The fried okra was also very delicious and satisfying. But the lemongrass dipping sauce for it? To die for. I wanted to spread it on everything I put in my mouth! And, I did! I even dipped the Maha mushrooms in it! I am wishing I would have ordered a tub of the sauce to take home. If you dont like okra, just ask for the sauce! I could have bathed in it and been so happy lol! It had perfect ratios of salt, sour, and lemongrass flavors, and something I cant quite pin, ...maybe... sweetness? Whatever it is, Im going back just for that! The patience pho was so good. I never thought I could have vegan pho and be satisfied. I was wrong. The flavor is almost perfect, just a little spoon of the hottest hot sauce Ive had in a long time and it was on point. And, I always thought pho could use more vegetables! There were so many vegetables in the pho that I lost count lol!The Nirvana lemon salad is reminiscent of the southeast Asian raw paper thin sliced steak and lemon salad with tomatoes and onions. Im not sure the name of it, but I sure do love it. This salad was the perfect replacement. Nothing was missing or left to be desired. There were pieces of sliced beef that I couldnt even tell were plant based!Next time I have a chance to go out to eat, vegan or not, Im RACING to Andys. Thank you to the wonderful people who left their home in Vietnam and built a wonderful place for people to find happiness in food for generations to come. And, thank you to their children who keep it going.

Origami Asian Grill

When your fried chicken reminds me of a yoga exercise studio ... Yup! I said it. The hype has been developing because their summer opening, yet what I really wish to return for is their Pork Stomach ramen!Im so torn. This location is a true 3.5-star dining establishment. What do I rate it? On the lower side with a three or the higher side with a 4? Well, undoubtedly ... I picked a 3 in the end.We HAD to get their renowned fried chicken appetiser because everybody asserts its the finest! I no longer think these individuals, currently that Ive tried it myself. It was plated truly charming and also you seem to get a suitable amount of chicken for the $12 appetizer rate. When I ate my drumstick it actually tasted reminiscent of a yoga workshop. Sage. Yes, all the sage. In addition, the hen was so oily, the covering slid right off and left me with a glossy item of chicken. I am most definitely going against the grain with this evaluation and also Im alright with this. I wont purchase it once more, however if I go and also someone orders it, Ill provide it an additional taste test. That ALL being stated, I will entirely come back right here for ramen! I picked the pork shoyu broth for my ramen. I allow the kind order taker make a decision which veggie options I would get, I honestly didnt care. I think decided to opt for the pork stubborn belly as my healthy protein. This is where I (once again) need to call them out on something. Their food selection prices is extremely misleading. It looks as if you reach pick a healthy protein for the $10 ramen rates, however, it really costs extra for whichever healthy protein you pick. I assume they require to call it out in a different way, so it is VERY clear just how their pricing works.Okay, I like the 63 \u00b0 egg and just how I can damage it as well as allow it exude in the brew. Normally, I just get the egg or allow somebody else have it. I loved the consistency of this egg, which was out of the norm for my ramen experience. The broth was appetizing and not also salty, which is a huge bonus offer for me! Oh man, their pork belly was sooo bomb! I appreciate the top quality of the noodles as well as amount also. Whatever concerning this bowl was perfect. It was a lot more food than I could have ever needed, yet it made assessing this place hard.Okay, I have another complaint. And I am very curious if any person else had this experience. My rice was truly oily and glossy, yet there was no off taste as well it. It was actually difficult to eat with chopsticks also. I needed to ask what was up with and also honor the workers heart for her the attempt at an answer. She said possibly it was as well watery. Anybody who eats rice on a regular basis understands when you add water to rice, it does not come to be glossy as well as oily. EVER. I thanked her as well as let it go, however I was rather discouraged at her reaction. Anywho, it was super tough to consume the rice and also so odd!Overall, for three ramens with proteins, one order of poultry wings, and also one beverage, $65 seemed truly expensive for rapid laid-back. Not that my viewpoint matters, due to the fact that they seem to be flourishing right here in their little Asian-is niche in East Sac. Im thankful to have checked it off the to attempt list, however I wont be demanding to come back and consume right here again. Their food selection isnt massive either.Ill be back to get ramen-tical, but not with the poultry ...

It has been my favorite restaurant for as long I can remember, the staff is courteous, helpful, but most importantly, the food is to die for, its always hot, fresh, and scrumptious, one of the most delicate Asian fusion eateries I have ever experienced.

Manchurian Indian & Nepalese Cuisine
767 Ikea Ct #100, West Sacramento, CA 95605, United States
Id be happy to write a review for Manchurian Indian & Nepalese Cuisine in Sacramento!Located in the heart of Sacramento, Manchurian Indian & Nepalese Cuisine is a fantastic restaurant that offers a unique fusion of Indian and Nepalese flavors. Owned by Mr. Shambhu Dhakal, who hails from Nepal, this restaurant is a true gem that offers some of the most delicious and authentic dishes in town. The atmosphere of the restaurant is cozy and welcoming, and the service is outstanding. Our waiter, Anjana Dhakal, was extremely attentive and helpful in recommending some of their popular dishes. Her friendly and hospitable nature made our dining experience even more enjoyable. Now, lets talk about the food! We ordered a few different dishes to try and were blown away by the flavors and presentation of each one. The Manchurian chicken was a real standout - perfectly crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, with just the right amount of spice. The lamb vindaloo was also a hit - the meat was cooked to perfection and the sauce had just the right amount of heat. We also tried the momos, which are traditional Nepalese dumplings filled with seasoned meat and served with a delicious dipping sauce. They were absolutely delicious!Overall, our experience at Manchurian Indian & Nepalese Cuisine was fantastic. The food was outstanding, the service was great, and the atmosphere was cozy and inviting. If youre in the mood for some amazing Indian and Nepalese cuisine in Sacramento, this is definitely the place to go!

I never leave reviews but for this place i feel like i have to share my experience since its one of those places that cant miss no matter what Ive tried there. The couple who runs this little spot are so friendly and put so much into everything they make here. My go to is always the chili cheese fries, cheese steak sandwiches and burgers but every other item Ive been trying from them has been so good every time. This is a great place to grab a bite to eat and definitely is worth a visit to satisfy your cravings if you hadnt already been. Definitely recommend this place!

Crab City
7837 Stockton Blvd #500, Sacramento, CA 95823, United States
I took my mom for a mothers day treat, to this place for crabs and seafood - and we are very familiar with seafood boil and Lousiana style of seafood cajun boils. we go to this type of restaurant all the time. I requested the lemon sauce and the waitress, which I later learned was also the manager, told me that they were out of this sauce . we opted for the mix of sauces, and I asked the waitress if it was spicy, and she said that the sauce was mild, not spicy since they did not have the spicy option, only mild. I asked for a thai ice tea and my mom asked for a sangria. the drinks were not good: the thai ice tea was watery and almost not sweet and the sangria was mostly water and tasteless. when the boil came, it looked good, however it was very spicy and hot, so much that we needed to seep water along . I am ok with spicy - even though I prefer not too spicy- however my mom is not ok with it. I called the waitress and told her about the drinks, and that the food was excesively spicy and burning my mouth, and her response was quote: that the food was NOT spicy, was mild, and that no one complained before, so I felt like I was talking to a wall and that she was not really interested on my experience at the restaurant, whether good or bad. we ate the food because we were hungry- my mom ate little because it was to spicy for her, which was dissapointing. the waitress took off the drinks from the bill which I think was reasonable, however I do not think they care if you like the food or not. be prepared for very spicy food even if they say it is mild .

Bonchon Arden
1600 Ethan Way Unit 40, Sacramento, CA 95825, United States
This location out of the 3 Ive already been to outranks San Leandro and Berkeley which are gimmicks! Bon Chon Arden rocks because 1) the food is always freshly cooked 2) their fries are not hard but just right and that right amount of that delicious sauce on their Soy Garlic wings, and 3) Their Customer Service is always bubbly and warm... if there is a problem they wont argue you down or hassle you; they will just fix the problem. The down side to the other Bon Chons mentioned is:1) Food is always dried out and old.2) Wings are nearly burnt and take away the soy garlic taste3) Fries are very dried out and when confronted about it they try to bargain with you to pay for it because of inventory/ waste costs when they served you old food in the first place. When I confronted one if the waitresses specifically at the Berkeley branch (in a monotone respectful way) about the fries being dried out she said I can charge you a lower price and I had not tasted but 1.When I started to her that the fries and the wings does not taste like Sacramento Arden branch she stated: we are not then plus we carry a different vendor than they doYet, they are carrying the name of such great franchise. When I am away from Sacramento Bon Chon and in the Bay Area and experience this type Asian snobbishness... I thank God that Arden Bon Chon is NOT like San Leandro nor Berkeley. Makes me wonder if the rest in the Bay area are the same. I have tried San Francisco and I hope not. Please do not go to the locations mentioned if they cant make fresh food or do fries they advertise which should be nsync with Arden and not dry and cheap.

Thai Canteen
1501 16th St Ste109, Sacramento, CA 95814, United States
I visited this restaurant a few days ago at the recommendation of my brother who had ordered food delivery from this place prior. We were leaving for a long trip over seas and we're excited for a yummy final family dinner. The service was great, and the cashier was very sweet. Unfortunately, the food was extremely disappointing. We ordered four items: soup, a minced chicken salad, noodles, and a beef curry. We asked for mild spice because my brother had said that when he has ordered medium in the past it is always super spicy(and we normally love spice). The food had zero spice at all and the chicken was very dry with no flavor. The soup had an odd sweet flavor and again, very dry chicken. The beef ‘curry' was a few pieces of rubbery beef piled with a big lump of brown peanut sauce, on top of a huge pile of uncooked spinach. It did not look like a curry at all and there had been no mention of spinach in the description. The noodles were acceptable, and the only thing that had at least some flavor. We ordered family style and four plates and ended up paying around $72. The portions seemed pretty small…no leftovers at all. Overall it was just super disappointing especially for the price. We should have said something but were just so hungry by the time all the food came out.It seems like this place has pretty good reviews, and like I said my brother had eaten their food before through delivery…so I'm not sure if they got a new chef or something, but I wanted to warn anyone who might be reading the reviews like I did. :(
