Shogun Sushi
7330 Fair Oaks Blvd #10, Carmichael, CA 95608, United States
I am extremely disgusted with my experience from this restaurant. I say disgusted because I was served ROTTEN TUNA on 6/11 and I have waited 8 days now for a refund (promised by Alex the owner)...still on 6/19 I have had zero communication since this incident.I have gone to Shogun sushi for close to 10 years. Ive gone there for multiple birthdays in my family, special occasions, as well as normal casual dining nights (it was easily the best in the area for such occasions).Unfortunately, that is not the case anymore. Shogun has been run by a new sushi chef and staff for the last 5 months (according to the owner).I was given ROTTEN TUNA. It smelled terrible and was placed in a box with all of my other food. I called and spoke to multiple servers and hosts and I was treated like I was the problem. It took 3 phone calls because people kept hanging up on me and/or dismissing the problem. One of the staff members (a host, who was a young man) told me my fish was torched which is why my tuna had a brown color to it without checking with anyone. He told me such false information rather than escalating a problem to the chefs or managers. The fact that he just said their ROTTEN fish was torched and that was the reasoning for the color, and then to just hang up assuming he was right to do so is so alarming.I also spoke to a hostess who put me on hold and then told me the sushi chef/owner will call me back. (Again let me remind everyone, this ROTTEN fish was in the box with my entire order and they didnt find it important enough to handle immediately.)I wanted someone to address my problem before they kept serving rotten fish but it was very low on their priority list. Im sure its annoying and frustrating to deal with customers problems but it felt very important to me to address food safety concerns but it didnt seem important to them at all.It wasnt until I refused to leave information or stay on hold that I finally talked with Alex (the owner). He told me they were sorry and he would look into the order and they are just starting out (5 months now) and he would talk to the staff about food quality. He promised me a full refund on my order. It has been 8 days and I have yet to receive any refund, store credit, or even a phone call or anything else trying to remedy the situation. I told him my money was the least of my problems. My biggest worry was their handling of the situation and how little it mattered to the entire staff (hosts, hostesses, servers, and sushi chefs.) He assured me he would communicate with the new team and train accordingly. He promised me a full refund on my entire order, and yet It has been 8 days. I do not think this restaurant understands the severity of the problem or the gravity of their responsibility to serve food that is fresh when giving a community raw options. It is very important to note that it only takes 2 cases of food poisoning in order to become a food outbreak with the health department. This establishment does not care about food safety, serving their community, as well as any form of understanding or respect.I would truly discourage ANYONE from eating at this restaurant. If you enjoy quality fish, avoid at all costs. They serve ROTTEN fish and dont care to remedy the situation. Each staff member I talked to was dismissive and rude and acted as if I was the problem for calling to complain. I am never a Karen or Kevin. The entire staff from hosts to servers and sushi chefs all dismissed me. I was hung up on twice. Please avoid this restauarant. Life is too short to waste time or money on such a place.

Skips Kitchen

If youre on a mission for a true mom-and-pop neighborhood hole-in-the-wall restaurant, Skips Kitchen is definitely worth checking out. Considering this place has had a lot of recognition, praise, and positive vibes as well as being one of Sacramentos top restaurants, I had to see what the whole fuss was about. Having been opened since late-2011, this place has been doing things right with their delicious comfort food.Located directly on El Camino Ave. (with Mission Ave. being the nearest cross street), this place is situated right at the Carmichael/Arden border in a predominantly residential area. There is a small parking lot near the rear of the business as well as generous outdoor seating (with green turf) located outside on the main street. Inside, there are at least 12 booths that vary in size for small and moderate sized parties. The large glass windows provide a ton of natural light. Additionally, they offer a self-serve fountain drink station as well as two gender-optional restrooms.Upon entry, you grab a menu and order directly at the front counter. I like this concept way more than an actual waiter service since it expedites the entire ordering process. After placing your order, the cashier lays out a full deck of cards face down. IF you pick the Joker out of the deck, your meal is FREE! All I grabbed was a deuce so I didnt win. However, your card is basically used as your order number when your food is brought out to the table. Definitely a unique process that Ive never seen before at any restaurant. After looking at the menu, I ended up going with the B.O.M. Sliders (which came as a trio of 3). These sliders included bacon and onion marmalade, house sauce, and provolone cheese. I chose criss-cut fries as my side as well as a Grilled Caesar Salad which had charred hearts of romaine, crostini, Caesar dressing, and shaved Parmesan cheese. I completed my meal with a regular sized self-serve soft drink. My +1 went with an order of their Chicken Strips. This was hand breaded, fried chicken strips complete with dipping sauce and also a side order of criss-cut fries. Total price for both of our orders came out to a very inexpensive $31.00 (after tax).Even though they were swamped with customers (keep in mind this was at 6:45pm on a Saturday evening in August), our food arrives in just under 15 minutes. Not bad since they were juggling the dine-in, to-go, and food delivery services while always keeping a smile on their faces. My sliders were seasoned to perfection and quite generous with a nicely toasted slider bun. The fries were hot and crispy. And the charred Caesar salad added to some of that smokiness to it. The salad was given to me with whole romaine leaves which I have seen at other various restaurants. All in all, Skips Kitchen does things the right way. Amazing service (our server and busboy both checked up on us), unbeatable prices, and a menu that both parents and kids will love. They have all the comfort food classics including pork sliders, mac & cheese bites, wings, sandwiches, and burgers. They also offer ice cream sandwiches and shakes. And for the over 21 crowd, they have a nice variety of bottled and draft beer as well as a small selection of red and white wines. With that said and done, I am giving the folks at Skips Kitchen an above-average four star rating.
Ancil Hoffman Park
6700 Tarshes Dr, Carmichael, CA 95608, United States
Great park, you dont have to pay much to enter the park $5. Its near a golf course across the park itself (whoever might be interested in golfing later or in future) - I dont know anything about the golf course by the park though-They have pathways to walk your dogs or walk individually. The only small issues there might be is that there might be a bit of steep walk down to the river (for some people).Another thing that some people might not like is that the bathroom is a bit too far away from the lake and the parking is limited (again it depends for everyone). There is a limit in parking (good amount but can be tough to find a spot in peak hours).Otherwise, I would say that this is a great place, good tables(you can cover them with tablecloth if anything), beautiful nature and beautiful place in general. This location is nice for family, pets and individual walks or picnics or any other occasion. In general, would I recommend this park? Yes, I would recommend this park for anyone who wants to go outside, celebrate, and/or explore and relax in nature.Everyone has their own tastes of course, this is how I view the park. Anyone who wants to see it in person for their own curiosity, personal knowledge, or even for their own personal experience are welcome to do so.I hope everyone has a great day! I hope everyone stays safe as well!Have a fantastical day/night!- These are my personal opinions and views, if it upsets or offends someone, I apologize in advance. Its not meant to cause anyone harm or offense. -

MATTEOS PIZZA & BISTRO
5132 Arden Wy, Carmichael, CA 95608, United States
I think Pete or Peter helped me and I just want to say because of him they made a customer. Im fairly new to the area and went for the bike shop next door (also great customer service i think Dave helped me) but saw this place and walked in to check it out. They have a huge wine selection and I dont know much about wine. He asked what I like and picked a few around that. I bought every one and even a few others cause I liked the labels. I had his first suggestion with dinner tonight and it was delicious. But beside that I decided to stay and eat because I overheard him describing a pizza to other customers. I got a Mendecino sandwich which was delicious. I ate outside and the atmosphere was relaxing. I went on a Friday and Im excited to go back Wednesday for their wine tasting. I also briefly spoke with a woman who apparently is the owner about a plant outside (kangaroo paw). *footnote* She was incredibly friendly and I felt welcomed to observe the landscaping even though I felt a little weird because its not a botanical garden crying out loud. Anyways if youre reading this and debating going here Id say stop reading and go. Even if pizza and wine isnt your thing they have burgers and wings and a full bar. Beside that the service is top notch and you cant buy that. Im so happy I decided to go to bike store instead of ordering on Amazon.P.s. they have wines specifically bottled for this establishment. Peter told me I probably wouldnt like them since I said I like box Moscatos because its sweet and east to drink... Im getting it next time I go though. I already left with 7 bottles and Im so excited to try every one. This place is classy but isnt pretentious about it. I work construction and had a day off this Friday, I feel completely comfortable going in work clothes wednesday so I can sample some of their wine selection instead of buying the entire bottle.*I was looking up the Google reviews while waiting for my food.*
Express Sushi & Teriyaki
6047 Madison Ave, Carmichael, CA 95608, United States
Food quality is good. So I'll give this review an extra star for that but. But as someone who has been consistently coming here on weekends buying sushi boats and paying cash at full price, I thought tonight's experience was absolute trash. We do family hangouts on Saturday's and so we ordered a Sushi Boat D along with 2 other entree plates on top. We were told to come in 45 minutes to pickup. We get there and we're told they're “finishing up” on our order, I look around and all tables were served. 2 small groups came in and were seated. We waited an additional 15 minutes, which was fine. Another 10 minutes go by and we see a group of friends to either the owner Alex, or his other chef's, come in by this time. Thy sat at the sushi counter and were served right away. This is when it became absolutely unacceptable business practices. It was already bad before but now, as full paying customers who were waiting for over an hour, while their friends were getting served right away, it was over the top. It took me talking to 3 people for them to bring the owner up to talk to me. He started with giving me his explanation of what was going on. I gave him a quick breakdown of why something like this shouldn't have happened. This is not somewhere I would recommend if you're not part of their community or crew. You'll be thrown on the back burner while their friends and family get priority over everyone else. Disposable business practices here. The employees told me that Alex would work something out for me “next time”. Homie don't give me that, there's no next time after I saw how they choose to treat customers that they're not close and personal with. Why give business to someone who can't treat paying customers with respect? Regular customers at that.
River City Brewing Company
6241 Fair Oaks Blvd suite g, Carmichael, CA 95608, United States
We got to RCBC at 3:30pm on a Friday afternoon. It wasnt busy and we opted to sit outside when there were only 4 tables seated when we got there. Our server didnt even come over to my wife and I until 3:55 and we didnt get our beers until 4:23pm! The beer was good but the service from our waiter was slow!We had long finished our pint size beers and we had to flag our waiter to ask for the check at 4:45pm. Seven minutes later our waiter came back and asked if we wanted another beer... ugh! We asked for the check like ten minutes ago! At 4:55 our waiter finally came back with the check and... it was wrong. We had two pint beers at the happy hour price of $4.00 a pint. Should have been $8 plus tax! The beer was charged at the regular price and he added on an order of the Happy Hour egg rolls. Seriously!!! It takes a lot to get me frustrated but at this point Im getting mad. It has now taken us an 1hr and a 1/2+ for two beers! The waiter took the check back to have it corrected and what do you know, it took him a while to get it fixed. The hostess asked if we needed anything else at 5:03 and we expressed in a firm voice that we would like our check so we could go! At about 5 minutes after 5pm our savior Beth, a manager, finally arrived and asked how we were. She had just come to work. We told her that we had been there since 3:30pm and all we had were two beers and just trying to go. Beth was awesome and took care of us right away. Thank you so much Beth for the wonderful customer service! I am giving this review 4 stars just because of her attitude and willingness to help! While our server made this a bad experience we dont let one server ruin a business for us. I hope he is able to get better training to handle customers better and more efficiently because everyone needs a job somewhere and they should be able to do their job to the best of their ability. The next time we come back well go straight to the bar tender. :-D
Green Jade Restaurant
2436 Mission Ave, Carmichael, CA 95608, United States
I have been eating here since 1989, thirty years. The food is always consistent, not salty, and tasty. Since I have been eating there I think there have been only 3 owners. I gave up on other Asian restaurants, even frank fats, whose food is over salted and somewhat greasy. Green jade has a selection for all kinds of diets. If you need a change, just ask them. Louis is a waiter there. He is a jovial man and he sets the right tone for you to enjoy your meal. He calls me channel 3 when I come in only because my first name is the same as one of their anchors. You will not be disappointed with your meal at green jade.

There is a Woman named Sheila that claims to be a Manager at the Carmichael Store on Fair Oaks Blvd and Engel Road that likes to steal merchandise from Shoppers that buy things and mistakingly leave them there after The Shopper buys them and Shiela says that You and Your Son took the merchandise with You after You paid for the Merchandise and Checked out at the Register. My Son and I took the Food and Merchandise with Us but accidently left a Baking sheet there by mistake but went back to get it and Shiela said that You took the Baking sheet with You when You left but We did not take it with Us when We left the Carmichael Smart & Final. We immediately went back to the Smart and Final with the Original receipt and showed it to Shiela but she wouldnt let Us have another baking sheet and She, Shiela had the Baking sheet put back so that another Shopper could buy it and that is why I, Robert Clary say that Shiela from the Carmichael Smart and Finsl2 stole Merchandise and Money from me and wouldnt give me either the Merchandise or the Money in return.
