Harumi Sushi
19754 Stevens Creek Blvd, Cupertino, CA 95014, United States
As I entered the restaurant, I saw all 2 chefs were non-Asian behind the sushi bar, which is usually not a good sign. Ordered a bento combo box lunch, couple sushi and a combo udon. The uni and sweet shrimps sushi were not too bad, average. The udon broth seemed over-seasoned and included half a hard boiled eggs, (instead of a whole lightly boiled eggs), which lessened the flavors of the udon. Bento box: the fried tempura was good, but the sashimi was flavourless, and the teriyaki chicken was not tender. Also saw other customers ordered various California styled rolls. I would say this is an Americanized Japanese restaurant with average quality food and prices.

Maybe it was an off night, but it was one of the worst restaurant experiences I had in a while. Also, Im told there has been change of owner.I was expecting a mediocre service, it being an Asian restaurant. It turned out my expectations were too high.We got a private room because there were 8 of us. The waitress who served our room was not good. We had to remind her several times what we ordered through out the night. A couple of people showed up a little late, you would think the waitress saw this and bring extra utensils and ask the late arrivals what they wanted to drink, or at least bring extra water. Nope. One of the dishes we ordered arrived after everyone in our group was done eating for a while. At one point, someone from our party had to go out of the room to ask for more tea.Now on to the food. Their sushi was not good. I had better sushi from wholefoods. The fish wasnt very tasty, they ran out of uni, not very presentable. There are way too many delicious sushi restaurants in the area to give this place another chance. Im just glad I didnt get sick from their sushi. Ill be afraid to go back to the place.
Gyu-Kaku Japanese BBQ
19620 Stevens Creek Blvd #150, Cupertino, CA 95014, United States
I can’t believe that my husband and I found this restaurant in our road trip by mistake, I wanted Asian and he love steak. Best restaurant we have been so far in our trip, the food was delicious the service was fast we didn’t had reservation but the guy at the door hurry to give us a table and the waiter was great explaining us since was our first time in a Japanese bbq. Also was Monday so the whole day was happy hour prices.Normally don’t give 5 stars unless is amazing. Here you go I recommend everybody to go and give it a try.
Kura Revolving Sushi Bar
19600 Vallco Pkwy #160, Cupertino, CA 95014, United States
Im a big eater and my fav food is sushi. Whenever I visit Kura Sushi, I spend around 100 dollars avg between two people pretty easily. Im really spoiled in terms of sushi cos I spent almost 2 decades in East Asia alone eating decent sushi every other day. So my sushi reviews are always harsh, even when I eat at highly rated sushi restaurants in Japan..... So keep that in mind.Kura sometimes has bad days where their sushi tastes really off/fishy. Sushi should never have that taste if its fresh. Leave early if its one of those days. Most other days, its fresh enough that Kura Sushi is known as the place to go to enjoy fresh sushi in the area. That being said, you wont know what fish selection will be available that day. It usually feels somewhat limited so Ill usually end up eating just 2-3 types of fish repeatedly per visit. Their rice is a hit or miss. Sometimes its perfect, other times its a crumbly mess, once it tasted like it was actually going bad so I threw it away. Sometimes their fish is still frozen, at times you get worse fish by ordering directly rather than getting it off the conveyor belt. So the keyword for Kura is inconsistency. The restaurant is hard to reach if you dont have a car. Theres nothing to really do in the area (just other places to eat), so the fact that lately you have to go in person to put your name down and wait for an hour or more is tedious. Before, you could reserve a table online, but rn you cant for the San Jose restaurant. They have a cute mini game where you get a random gift that rolls out above your head in those little plastic coloured balls for every 15 plates and before that a little animated cartoon plays on the screen. Sometimes the machine breaks. It ruins the mood when they have to bring you the toy/gift themselves so I saw that they made a little box to put your hand in and pick one for tables where the machine is broken. I thought that was awesome (esp for the kids). You can buy those little gifts separately too via the menu screen. Sometimes they have promotions going on where they give you bigger gifts for spending a specific amount that runs on top of that mini game they always have. Both smaller and bigger gifts are related to the current promo/collab. They recently ended their demon slayer promo which seemed super popular. The photo you see is the phone stand gift we got for spending over 100usd (thats including tax etc so you dont have to eat 100usd of sushi alone). You can check for those promos/dates on Kura Sushis website. They do run out of stock for everything eventually so its better to go earlier than later on those event dates.Despite everything, its fun to try out all their different menu options. They added an automated server robot that brings you drinks etc which is cute. Ive only really seen variants of them at airports before. Anyway, its a pretty fun time with the mini game and the revolving sushi so I eat here a few times whenever I visit San Jose.Side note: Last time I visited, there was a group of Chinese ladies in their 20-30s at the table behind us (possibly tourists like me?) forcibly gripping the plate covers, opening a bunch somehow and not taking the plates... it was ridiculous. Its a health hazard so I wish staff would pay more attention. The plates are confusing to pull out of the cover when you first use Kura Sushi, so ask for help if you dont get how to. There are helpful signs and images telling you how at the tables too. My best advice is to grab the plate and push down against the brown base of the device the plate is placed in with your fingers never touching the lid itself. And the fingers holding the plate would pull the plate up at the same time. This actually auto releases the lid. Its intuitive, but can feel confusing and hard at first.
Panda Express

Poor management! This place is always a long wait, so today I ordered online to avoid the wait. When I got there they threw me in circles for 30 minutes until finally the manager told me she didnt have my order.I told her that I already paid for the order and had it set to be ready at 8:00pm (it was already 8:30pm by the time she spoke to me after waiting 30 minutes at the register like an awkward turtle). When I told her I had already ordered and paid she just kept telling me she didnt have it and waved me away. When I finally yelled at her to take two seconds and speak with me to clarify, she blew me off and she didnt have the order and since I didnt have a receipt theres nothing she would do for me. I didnt take my phone since it was on the charger and the online site didnt provide any printable receipt.I will also add that there were several other people waiting for their online orders, just like me, and they waited about 20 minutes to be helped as well. The main staff there is friendly and smile, I dont think its their fault that they are overworked and understaffed, this is completely on the manager that was working today. She showed poor management and horrible customer service.I checked my account later to see if maybe it had been an online glitch, but I was in fact charged for the meal that they never served me.

Took 10 minutes to be acknowledged, asian customers got sat first. I was waiting for a friend at my table and they had the nerve to tell me I could wait outside if they get too busy. Mind you I had already ordered a drink and the restaurant was not even half full. Terrible manners.
Taste Good Beijing Cuisine- Cupertino
20916 Homestead Rd, Cupertino, CA 95014, United States
Review of Tasted Good Beijing Cuisine-Cupertino:I recently had a negative experience at Tasted Good Beijing Cuisine-Cupertino, a restaurant located in Cupertino. While the food was acceptable, the service I received was shockingly rude and left a sour taste in my mouth. My family and I had a simple dinner, spending a total of $107.2, and I left a tip of $10.8. Little did I know that this would lead to a distressing encounter at the cashier. After paying, the lady at the cashier came over to my table and yelled at me, questioning why my tip was not even equal to 10% of the bill. I was taken aback by her audacity to interrogate me about my tipping habits. I calmly explained that $10.8 was indeed 10% of the total amount. However, she insisted that it wasnt and claimed to have recalculated it herself.I was utterly shocked by this entire exchange. In all my years of dining out, I have never encountered a place that had the audacity to question a customers tip amount. The fact that she implied that if they dont receive a 15% tip, their boss would question their service quality only added to my disbelief. The cashiers demeanor was both infuriating and unprofessional. Her youthfulness did not excuse her rude behavior and hostile attitude. It almost made me reconsider leaving a tip at all, as her actions were beyond ridiculous and completely unacceptable by any service standards.I feel compelled to share my experience with the public so that everyone can be aware of the questionable quality of service at this restaurant. Customers should not have to endure such treatment, especially when they are already paying for the meal. It is essential for restaurants to prioritize customer satisfaction and train their staff to handle situations with tact and respect. In conclusion, while the food at Tasted Good Beijing Cuisine-Cupertino may be satisfactory, I strongly advise potential customers to be wary of the rude and unprofessional service they may encounter. It is disappointing to see such a lack of courtesy in an establishment that should prioritize the overall dining experience.I recently had a negative experience at the Taste of Beijing Cuisine - Cupertino restaurant in Cupertino. Chicken Meets Rice (inside EatUp by 99 Ranch)
10445 S De Anza Blvd Unit 101, Cupertino, CA 95014, United States
Found this place after scrolling through yelp, could not decide between sushi, ramen, or this restaurant. Nonetheless, what got me interested in this establishment was the surprising name, Chicken Meets Rice. Quite attention grabbing. This place is located in a mini food court next to the 99 Ranch Market. The manager, Jonathan, was kind and nice enough to explain and accommodate our requests to our order. What we had ordered:1) Split Protein Box: Fried Chicken, Tofu, Chicken Fried Rice, Chicken Broth, and Sweet Chili and Teriyaki Sauce.2) Grilled Chicken Box, Sticky Rice, Veggie Broth, Teriyaki and Sweet Chili Sauce. My friend and I enjoyed every bite of our meals. The concept of chicken and rice is simple, but the flavors were so delicious and flavorful. Super healthy with protein and a medley of vegetables with the rice. The broths were a good palate cleanser and not salty at all. I had not eaten the entire day, so I was super pleased that this was my first meal of the day!Would love to come here again! :)
Grandmas Kitchen
19541 Richwood Dr, Cupertino, CA 95014, United States
Came here for the spicy boiled fish fillet 水煮鱼片, my daughters favorite Sichuan dish. The quality and value did not disappoint. It was very good. The spicy soup base and tender fish fillet, combined with veggies such as napa and bean sprouts sent you straight to heaven. It was a bit spicy but in a flavorful and tolerable way. Ordering from barcode can let you choose spicy level and opt-out MSG if its undesired. Highly recommend this dish to everyone. The A vegetable dish (A 菜)we ordered was changed to bok choys (小白菜) without telling us first, citing seasonal, which was fine yet Id prefer them to communicate first, perhaps we dont like bok choys. It shows respect, doesnt it?The sweet and sour pork and the Mongolian beef with onions were both good! ?Service was just adequate, nothing to rave about. Although the male waiter was friendly but wasnt helpful. I asked him to kindly pack the to-go box for us due to messiness, but he didnt do it so my intention of 18%-20% tips didnt happen and the liquid was spilled on the table from my handling. Comparing to my last experience of getting waiters help packing to-go and giving him good tips, service this time was average.Bright and clean environment.Overall great food and ok service. Hope they continue to improve service by communicating and checking with customers.
Happy Lamb Hot Pot Cupertino
19062 Stevens Creek Blvd, Cupertino, CA 95014, United States
Context- I love hotpot. I have eaten at multiple places in the country. My favorite as of now if the Happy Lamb in Salt Lake City. The review below is on my aggregated experience.Overall- I would not come back or recommend to anybody. For the price average $50 after base, taxes, tips, and sauce - you can get better service and quality food. A 18% tip is already required during payment regardless of the service. I am applaud by this place.- what can they do to make me come back; provide more sauce choices and not charge $.99, truly marinate the meat, be on top of their customer service by remembering their order.Food- the quality of food and broth is decent. For $31 to $36 you get a variety of meat and vegetables. The only downside I felt was the “marinated” meat. It is my favorite and for it to be presented with no flavor I I felt is a representation of their engagement of working there. With that said…Service- it was pretty frustrating. We were a table of 6 and the dining volume during 7pm on a Sunday night wasn't too crazy. They forgot our orders multiple times. We had to gave them multiple prompts to get rice, noodles, etc…- don't expect for them to give you detailed attention to your needs. You really need to ask for everything. Salt, cilantro, green onions…they have it, but for some reason hiding it in the back.- water wise, I felt they were pretty good to check to make sure everyone had water.- they are nice and helpful people, however I felt operational wise, there's a big disconnect between the workers understanding of what good customer looks like and how it should be delivered.Sauce- for me, the dipping sauce is a big part of hotpot and Korean bbq. Sometimes, I got to hotpot just with the dipping sauce as the most exciting thing I want to consume. Guess what, not only you are limited to 5 types of sauce ingredients e.g soy sauce, sesame oil, and their house sauce (no ponzu, pepper, or herbs), it cost $.99 cents to access their sauce. I am not sure why they don't just integrate the cost into their base price. It makes the you feel disappointed, chested, feeling taken advantage of.
