Great food! Karaoke and restaurant in one. An older Asian crowd, and a very lively hostess!
Pick Up Stix Fresh Asian Flavors
5105 Candlewood St, Lakewood, CA 90712, United States
Pick Up Stix is a little pricy, but they often offer BOGO free w/drink coupons via email or in the Sunday paper. Hence, thats when I usually go here. Most of the food is really good!My usual suspects-House specialsBuddhas feast (with tofu for an additional cost)Garlic/Honey-glazed ChickenThe new Korean sesame sirloin noodle dish.Everything is wok-fired fresh & cooked in minutes.Stay away from the pad thai. It seems to be instant pad thai, and is a paltry facsimile to real pad thai.Customers have the option of white or brown rice. I usually go for brown because I never eat it otherwise. Its a nice change of pace. In my opinion, its as if rice & oatmeal had a baby. Thats the best I can describe it.The restaurant itself is usually pretty clean, has a nice decor and possesses ample seating indoors & outdoors. The decor is pretty chic, too.Dont forget to crack open your fortune cookie
California Sushi & Teriyaki 8--Lakewood
5916 Del Amo Blvd, Lakewood, CA 90713, United States
Formerly the location of Pioneer Chicken, then a Chinese fast food place, California Sushi & Teriyaki serves fast Japanese food in the city of Lakewood. I was looking for lunch that was cool in temperature on a warm Saturday in April, so sushi was the first thing that popped into my mind. Yasai Japanese Grill is my usual go-to fast sushi place, but I wanted to venture out and try something different. Not to mention have another business to review. Up comes California Sushi & Teriyaki to the plate.Arriving inside, I was greeted by a nice lady taking orders. Perusing the menu items on display, I decided upon the super maki special.Super maki special-5 pieces crunch roll, 5 pieces California roll & 5 pieces spicy tuna roll. The rolls were about average size, rolled nicely as to not fall apart when dipped in soy sauce. Not bad, but nothing extraordinary.Unfortunately, the nigiri & rolls come by themselves. Miso soup & edamame arent included. Which, to me, is a real bummer, because other places do offer bonus items to go with sushi.Besides sushi, California Sushi & Teriyaki has, you guessed it, teriyaki. I checked out the teriyaki plates & bowls and they seemed like a good amount of food for the price. The restaurant also has udon soup that is supposed to be pretty good, from what I hear.A fair amount of seating inside. Expect the same amount of seats as youd find at a Popeyes. Service was good. The woman working the register let me use the sole restroom in the kitchen.Parking is in a private lot, shared by Salon Allure, an orthodontist, McDonalds and other businesses. For sushi, I dont think California Sushi & Teriyaki would be my first bet. While the Super maki special served its purpose, not having soup, salad and/or edamame to go with it left me disappointed. The teriyaki & udon, on the other hand, look like they might entice me to try another visit here. I live really closeby, and the chewy bite of udon noodles is something Im mighty looking forward to. So, Ill be back for sure.
WaBa Grill
4144 1/2 Woodruff Ave, Lakewood, CA 90713, United States
Foodie Fozzy says WaBa, WaBa, WaBa!!Looking for another place to eat & review, a hot & humid Saturday had us stopping by the nearest newly opened WaBa Grill in Lakewood.Clean, modern-looking décor with ample table seating is what my eyes spied as I first walked in. Loved the refreshing full blast A/C to cool off on a sweltering day. Perusing the options, I knew I would get a plate.Steak plate-Well-done strips of beef w/WaBa sauce, salad, choice of white or brown rice & an orange for dessert. A hearty & healthy meal, the WaBa sauce wasnt cloyingly sweet. While I much prefer it rare to medium-rare, the beef was good. I loved the fact that brown rice is available at no additional charge. The salad provided the greens & roughage, while the tart orange gave a nice ending to my non-fried meal.A condiment bar lets diners load up on Waba sauce (teriyaki & hot), green onions, pickled carrots & jalapenos, and lemon slices. Being an onion lover, I availed myself of a heaping helping of green onions, of which I basically used to make a green onion salad on top of my steak plate. Good for you & crunchy to boot! Other menu options include salmon, shrimp & tofu. The sole unisex restroom was clean & tidy. Service was good. The cashier was friendly & seemed to be happy to be working there, which is refreshing. Attitude is everything!Parking is in a private lot shared by a bank, United Boardshop, Glory Days Sports Bar & other businesses.WaBa Grill offers up healthy & tasty meals in a pleasant environment. While not taking the crown from my beloved Yoshinoya, what WaBa has going for it is that brown rice is available at no additional charge, minimal wait & the food was filling & satisfying. I enjoyed my meal while listening to Train, LifeHouse & the Red Hot Chili Peppers on the house speakers. We received coupons for a free chicken bowl with purchase of a plate & free fountain drink with purchase of a bowl/plate. Ill definitely stop by soon to redeem them whenever my tastebuds scream WaBa, WaBa, again.Highly recommend!NOMNOMNOMNOMNOMNOMNOMNOMNOMNOMNOM

Hello, I just went to Panda Express at the LAKEWOOD mall and the chicken was spoiled, the shrimp was raw, the dough, I called them and talked to the manager and their response was, I need the resivo, I told him to throw it in the stores bin, but what if I didnt? I could ask for a check from my bank so he could see that I bought food at 10.40 and also check the cameras and his response was 100% without the receipt I cant help you and I told him Id make a conpley and he told me what you had. I cant believe I had to pay for a meal that wasnt served because the managers themselves dont care What the customers eat very bad service
Gengis Khan
500 Lakewood Center Mall, Lakewood, CA 90712, United States
I had an incident on 06/07/2023 at this location. I paid approximately 19.54 for a bowl combo. I have never been to this place. I had no idea how it worked. When you receive a bowl and you can select what is shown along the food selection line. I went ahead and select very specifically : Alots of beef, little chicken and pork muchrooms, solantro, onions, then their sauces that they asked you mild or spicy. I said mild. The cameras that they have in the store can elucidate what I have selected in the food to account with what I said. When the food was done, I was eating until I discovered green peppers. I thought to myself wait, I remember what I ordered and there was no green peppers in my food selection. Think about if someone was allergic to this. For one they didnt order any green peppers. I went to the cashier and asked do mix ups ever happen here ? she said yes sometimes. I told her I think my food there was a mix up because green peppers are in it. Again the cameras and the accomadating staff dude who was the sauce guy was nice and watched me keenly as I selected the food and he even gave me the tongs I accidentally left when selecting another meat. The cashier stated that they can make another bowl, then I asked what about the bowl right now. She said well have to throw it away, I said wouldnt that be a waste. Would it be okay if I gave to a family member she said sure. 4 minutes later they started making a big fuss about it, specifically someone named Reynaldo when i asked the cashier on who was making this a big deal when she had told me that it was okay given what happened. ( I UNDERSTAND, ANYONE CAN SAY ANYTHING LIKE MY FOOD IS TOO SPICY, ITS TOO SALTY, HOWEVER IN THOSE CASES THE RESTARURANT DOESNT HAVE TO SERVE YOU BECAUSE AGREED TO PAY FOR WHAT YOUR SEEING ) ( IN MY CASE ITS NOT THE SAME I DIDNT PUT ANY GREEN PEPPERS ON MY BOWL AND I PAID FOR I INDEED SELECTED HOWEVER WHEN YOU PUT SOMETHING I COULD BE ALLERGIC TO IN MY FOOD I CAN NO LONGER EAT IT, AND REMEMBER I DIDNT PUT THIS IN MY FOOD WHICH CREATED THE QUESTION OF THINKING IF THE ORDERS GOT MIXED ) I was thinking that the 2nd bowl would be given as a courtesy to this specific situation given that I again did not put this vegetable in my food selection. The cameras can elucidate this even further. The cooks were very very rude because he pointed and said I DONT SPEAK ENGLISH ONLY ESPANOL, I said okay no problem in a polite way. Then he screams at me to move to the end while Im was at talk with the sauce guy, it was an important question about the garlic and other flavor add ons to the food. Then the cook who emphasized he couldnt speak english said to me do you speak english ? In an deragatory tone with angry looks. He even told the sauce guy to not add anymore noodles. I could understand from the little spanish I know plus the hand gestures given. Overall this place gets an F -- Extremely rude cook it was the one when I was getting my second bowl and talking to near the sauce guy this can be specified in the camera footage ( looking at me angrily, talking very rudely, demanding a tip conveyed from the sauce guy when I asked him why is he removing some noodles )- Hostile attitude.- Terrible customer service representation.- Wasted my time and didnt offer anything as a courtesy when they made the mistake.- Did not offer any courtesy for wasting the customers time and the one to make the mistake.- If a restaurant is the one who makes the mistake they compensate their customers by doing the right thing. This in turn creates trust, and happy impression. Not assume the customer is trying to get a second bowl when all of the details were given. Im not going to make a big fuss for approximately 15.34 since its the bowl that was the mistake. Its the principal I dislike. If you demand for the customer to pay for the second one this would be akin to saying heey I messed up so Im going to charge for messing up and making the mistake. This is crazy regardless of how you look at it.
Joes Sushi
5607 South St, Lakewood, CA 90713, United States
Yo, Joe!Presidents Day meetup involving libations & AYCE sushiA bright & colorful interior with lanterns, umbrellas & artwork greeted me as I walked in. Flatscreen TVs all over with the game on for your viewing pleasure. Korean pop songs to jam out to over the house speakers. If you have the stomach for it, which I do, go for the $24.95 AYCE sushi. Its the best value for those that can stretch their stomach. Now, I did my part by eating everything I ordered.........................and some of everyone elses order, too! Including -Hot & Hot roll-Spicy tuna & cucumber on the inside, with escolar & onion on the outside. This was spicy good! The Hot & Hot had a nice ratio of rice to stuffing.Spicy Rainbow roll-Spicy tuna & cucumber on the inside, with slices of 4 assorted fish & avocado on the outside. Rainbow rolls are usually my go-to at most places, and the spicy rainbow at Joes held its on. Slather on the wasabi, a quick bath of soy sauce & it was on!Mr. Mango roll-Cream cheese & mango on the inside, salmon & avocado on the outside. I ordered this based on the recommendations of others, and I didnt care very much for it. Why? The cream cheese. For me, cream cheese just doesnt pair well with sushi. I did enjoy the brightness of mango slices, but I wouldnt order this again.Complimentary plates of salmon were brought out to our table to our delight!Fried, battered bits of salmon fin were oily & delicious. All those Omega-3s are both healthy & yummy! To end our meal, complimentary green tea ice cream left us smiling & happy.Birthday celebrants can spin the wheel for a prize! Our birthday girl won free soju! Cheers!Ample seating, with tables, booths & teppanyaki seating that can accommodate parties, large & small.Service was good, handling our rowdy group without batting an eyelash. Besides the free salmon & soju, we were also give even more complimentrary alcohol. Im talking the good stuff - organic sake.Parking is via a private lot in the back & street parking in all directions.I left stuffed & unable to look at sushi again for a long while. Joes Sushi, while not the highest quality sushi out there, proved to be a great local option for when the sushi hunger pangs rear their ugly head. The service was quite hospitable & all the complimentary perks made for a memorable night with friends. What more can you ask for?Recommend!NOMNOMNOMNOMNOMNOMNOMNOMNOMNOM
Flame Broiler
3821 N Lakewood Blvd Suite 102, Long Beach, CA 90808, United States
Tasty food, friendly & quick service. Definitely suggest you try it if you havent already!I went to The Flame Broiler on Candlewood Ave. in Lakewood, CA just across the street from the north side of the Lakewood Center.Be aware that this location IS NOT listed, nor found any where on, The Flame Broilers corp. website. I emailed the corp office, but I have not received a reply as of this writing. I also mentioned it to the cashier at The Flame Broiler when I was there & he was aware his locations omission from the corp. websites location listing, but he appeared, at least to me, to be frustrated from, or tired of, trying to correct the exclusion. So, if you want to find the Candlewood Ave. location in Lakewood, CA, youll need to include Candlewood Ave.& Lakewood, CA along with The Flame Broiler when doing an internet search.
Mammas Sushi
5679 Woodruff Ave, Lakewood, CA 90713, United States
I was lookIng for a sushi place around bellflower to treat a client.Based on the Yelp high review, I chose Mamas.I studied the menu before going there since this is the first time in order to make sure I select the good stuff for my client. For lunch, I ordered dinner sashimi (~$20) as an appetizer for beer.At the same time, I ordered two lunch combos; for me Teri beef and Tempura, for my client Salmon and Tempura.Dinner sashimi never came and two lunch combo were served first.I questioned about the sashimi order and my server confirmed the order was not put in to sushi chef. She ensured me it would be ready shortly.I was very disappointed for three reasons;1. Servers mistake of not double checking the order with chef2. Sashimi was very poor quality for the price; paper thin slices, artificial color of raw tuna3. Teri beef was so tough (it was like beef jerky). If I was the cook, I would throw away and never served such overcooked meat to customersPerhaps, they may be good for other dishes but I would not go back to this restaurant. For the future customer, dont trust most of the Yelp reviews, and dont expect too much from this restaurant.
Mehfil Restaurant
12225 Centralia St, Lakewood, CA 90715, United States
Mehfil has reopened in Lakewood with a brand new restaurant and a banquet hall that seats up to 200 people, probably the largest desi banquet in southern California! The food is fantastic and they have the best biryani, gola kabab, chiken tikka masala in town! Set up is very modern and really clean and amazing bathrooms (a rare thing for desi restaurants)! Tahir (chef) is probably the best desi chef in town, this place is breath of fresh air for the desi community!
