Pho Hot
6696 Lonetree Blvd, Rocklin, CA 95765, United States
I ordered the vermicelli with chicken and shrimp. It was not good at all. I have had this dish at other restaurants and never tasted like here. It had a funny unpleasant taste some spice or something. The chicken looked gray and 2 little shrimp that didnt taste fresh at all. I love to give good reviews but after spending $15 and then throwing it out I thought it best to make it known and save others the money. There are plenty of good Vietnamese restaurants around I would skip this one for sure. Also they had wrong prices on the internet. It stated $11.25 and it was over $15. No thank you.
Bangkok City Thai Cuisine
5050 Rocklin Rd Ste A12, Rocklin, CA 95677, United States
Ive given this place a few tries, and I give up. First try was Pad Thai, which should be the best thing at a Thai place. Bland dry boiled chicken, unseasoned small (probably also boiled) shrimp. Soggy old unseasoned veggies. Anything on the menu that says pan fried is a lie, noodles are all soggy. The curry base they use for everything is definitely just some store bought dry mix stirred with coconut milk. Ive never had more bland and flavorless Thai anywhere before. On my final attempt at giving this place a shot, I ordered Three Flavor Noodles, extra spicy. Their idea of making something spicy is just dumping red pepper flakes on it until its inedible. I love really hot and spicy foods, and expected it to be a hotter curry sauce or seasoning mix, but no, just about a cup of red pepper flakes mixed into the soggy (definitely not pan fried) noodles. After all my companions had finished eating (the server never stopped to check on us, this place is small its not exactly asking much) I pointed out that my wife and I had both had 1 bite of my pile of pepper flakes and found it inedible. He took it back and said he would take it off the bill, as I had just spent my lunch hour with a burning mouth while staring at the front counter, hoping maybe the server would notice. Much later, he came back and offered to replace the dish, which I agreed to get the bland pineapple curry my wife got (complete with the boiled plain unbrined unseasoned chicken). After about another 20 minutes, he comes back with my togo container(with a broken leaking lid). He goes around the table getting payment, and instead of comping my wasted lunch hour (and losing a potential customer forever + me telling everyone I work with across the street about it) he charges me $16 for it. The to-go cup is barely 2 cups worth, with the tiniest little soggy white rice box Ive ever seen. I assume theyve only stayed in business because of people with low standards who dont want to travel farther for lunch.Picture 1 shows the obscene amount of red pepper flakes dumped on the dish (and also mixed in).Picture 2 shows the teeny tiny to go containers of what their idea of a single portion is. The Tapatio bottle for reference is one of those small 10oz bottles, phone camera makes it look bigger than it is. Maybe 1 cup of rice and about 1.5 cups of the curry which is mostly boiled bell peppers and whole cherry tomatoes (what are cherry tomatoes doing in curry to begin with? Taking up space...)
Panda Express

Ive gotten food here so many times in the past year, I really no longer have an excuse not to write a review. These guys make the best fast Asian comfort food. Its not fancy dining, but when Im tired at the end of the day and I want something relaxing to eat, I can always rely on Panda Express to satisfy my cravings. It does get very crowded around lunch and dinner time, so you could always save time to calling in for pick-up.The staff are polite and professional. I might have had them change my order a couple times (sorries), and they did it with a smile. Also, the store is just really clean.Other (semi)-fast food restaurants should take notes from this store.
Crazy Sushi
6696 Lonetree Blvd, Rocklin, CA 95765, United States
It was disappointing to say the least. The sushi was pretty good so I couldnt rate it lower, but the service was not so good, and the chicken entrees were terrible. Went with a group of about 12 so knew it wouldnt be super fast, but when we went to place our orders, the waitress took 1 order at a time and then went back and input it into the computer. Basically taking almost 20 mins to take all of our orders. Mind you 20 mins after we had already been sitting for 20+ mins waiting for then to come take our order. So with the ringing up of orders all spread out, the food all came out, at completely separate times. The 1st group of people to get their food tried to be polite and wait, but it was almost 35 mins after they got their food, until the last person finally got theirs. Causing their food to be cold. Besides that the waitress acted very rudely to everyone as she brought out the food. Now moving on to the chicken. I got chicken katsu and my kids got sesame chicken. Both fried battered chicken options. When those came out they both had a ton of just fried batter in the box, than any actual chicken. I think I counted 8 pieces of just fried batter in my box and only 5 actual pieces of chicken. So I basically paid for fried bread crumbs. Same with the sesame chicken. I didnt actually count those though.I could continue, but I dont need to. As far as the sushi, the rolls were pretty good, but they were made on the smaller side, and they took forever to make. Oh and going back to the whole placing separate orders in the computer... there were several groups that came in after us and got their food at least 10 mins before we even got anything.Oh almost forgot, it was like pulling teeth to get waters for everyone also.
Panda Express

This is the worst experience I have ever had at ANY restaurant. I took my daughter to her school fundraiser at Panda Express. Upon paying the employee that was next to the cashier told the cashier that I needed to have a flyer. This is the first time I have ever heard of needing a flyer to participate in a school fundraiser. I attempted to look for it on my phone and could only find the fundraiser information on the school websites calendar. I showed it to the cashier and again the employee to the side of her said I need to have the full sheet flyer. I immediately told the cashier that it would take me a minute to look for what they were looking for and it was ok for people to pass me up. Meanwhile, other parents behind me were completely unaware of the flyer rule and began searching for the flyer on their phones as well. The other employee then proceeded to tell me that I needed to hurry up in an extremely rude manner. I kept quiet, finally found what they were looking for and paid. The parent behind me could only locate the school calendar information too so I tried giving her my phone so that she may show it to the cashier. Again, the lady that wasnt the cashier told her she had to look it up on her own. She found it and paid. The parent then came up to me and told me she was outraged by the experience.I noticed the lady came out behind the register so I proceeded to ask what her name was and told her her behavior was rude. Her demeanor didnt change and replied her name was Silvia and rules are rules. I explained that I understood that and thats why I was looking for the flyer and immediately told the cashier that it might take a minute and it was ok for people to pass me up. She said the other register wasnt working and I was holding up the line. I replied that it wasnt my problem that their other register wasnt working. She snapped back Yes it is. So according to her, it is my problem that THEIR register wasnt working. She said much more but I began to tune her out after that last comment. At this point, I am beyond outraged. I did everything that was asked of me, I stepped to the side and I had no problem waiting to pay so that my daughters school could benefit from my purchase. I asked the cashier for the name of her manager and she told me that the lady I was talking to IS the manager. I asked for another managers name and Silvia interrupted that I can call the phone number on the receipt.Obviously, I called customer service. I explained everything. They agree that this behavior was unacceptable, especially for a manager. I understand that I needed to provide a flyer, that wasnt the problem. The problem is that she felt the need to be rude from the moment I got to the register. Needless to say, I will never go to this Panda Express again. Rocklin is a friendly community. Too bad this Panda Express hires managers like Silvia that are the opposite of friendly.
Urban Rolls

The menu was confusing as they had several items that were not available but were written just like the other stuff that was. The teas that were available were either watery (house tea) or so perfumey (Jasmine tea) that it was impossible to drink. The regular Thai tea was okay though. I drink Jasmine tea very frequently and this was just too much. The Bahn Mis were ok. The bread was ok. The crispy pork was tasty but very soft, I only got two crispy pieces in one half of the sandwich. There was 1 jalapeño on each half. The sauce was sweet and so were the pickled vegetables. The whole sandwich lacked salt and balance. My husband and I ordered the same style Bahn mi and had the same experience. My son got something else he didnt eat much of, but said it was good (hes 3 so he doesnt always eat food like this). Tje price was insane as we spent almost 50 for two sandwiches, two teas, 1 sprite and 1 order of steamed buns. The place i normally buy from is half the price and 5x as good. Overall it was just okay. Ill stick with driving down to sac for my Bahn mis and will get my Boba teas somewhere else. I may come back to try their rolls though. ?Edit: customer service from the women there is top notch. They made me a second tea free of charge and said I could keep the first one, which didnt get drank, but was still really nice!
Yummy Pok
6696 Lonetree Blvd #300, Rocklin, CA 95765, United States
I love Poke places... but you just wont see me in a cacti garden getting up close & personal..*tee hee hee*I had seen Yummy Poke opening up for so long and always wanted to try it.. finally, after being open since January, my daughter wanted Subway, and I wanted me some Poke!! Walking in, it was super spacious, dainty tables & chairs all around except for your path to order your bowl. The menu is simple:1. Pick your base-Rice(white or brown) Mixed greens(salad)2. Pick your protein.Salmon, Tuna, Spicy Tuna, Spicy Salmon Albacore, Octopus.3. Choose your Sauce-Ponzu, Sweet Unagi, Sesame Shoyu, Sriracha Aioli, Wasabi Cream.4. Choose your Toppings-White Onion, Cucumber, Corn, Jalapeno, Edamame, Ginger and Carrot.5. Choose your Spice- Furikake, Crispy Onion, Dry Seaweed, Roasted Sesame Seed. The young man behind the counter let me sample the spicy tuna and spicy salmon... I did not like how mushy it was compared to the regular cubed fish. I also suggest sampling the sauces before you pick your protein if your not sure which one to go with. For my creation, I had hot cooked white rice, with salmon & tuna tossed in the Sesame Shoyu sauce, with imitation crab, onion, cucumber, edamame, and ginger topped with onion, Tobiko, and Furikake..My take?First, the bamboo chopsticks had an odd smell to them, every bite I took, I smelled the chopsticks, so I switched to a tiny plastic fork. After that, it was delicious! I do wish the Sesame Shoyu sauce was a touch thicker. I felt like it ran right off the fish and was not very apparent(I went up & got more sauce.) The cubed salmon & tuna tasted very fresh and for a regular size bowl, it comes with 3 generous scoops of your choice of protein (and thats what we like to see!!!!)Only bad thing to say is the gnat problem.. they definitely made their presence known. As you can see my Yummy Poke bowl was gorgeous! I was impressed that for $10.75, the portion sizes were more than expected. Still working on my favorite flavors, but the perfect creation takes patience & time...
GK Mongolian BBQ
6661 Stanford Ranch Rd Suite Q, Rocklin, CA 95677, United States
This is a new Mongolian BBQ that took over from what used to be Mongo GO-GO BBQ The owners retired to spend more time with family and perhaps do other things. Anyway, see.s timing is the key. Trying GK fornthe first time around 6pm, there was only 1 person at a table. We had 5 of us and then more families started coming in to have some GK.The hostest/server asked us for any drinks to get for us. Then after we sat down, we were given the options of included sides (plate of Cheese Rangoon, Crispy Wong Tongs and Fried Pot Stickers. Also included is a cup of Steamed Rice and cup of Soup. The selections for the veggies were minimal compared to the previous establishment. The sauce and the meat selection available are the usual. All in all, being serviced as we were, is excellent and the food was pretty good. With all that said, I will give a solid 5 stars rating for GK Mongolian BBQ that not only the service was spot on, the food delicious and for the fact that they are happy to honor veterans everyday.with a discount. Thank you so much GK. This is great.

Biryani & Chaat

As someone who moved from England—where Indian food is arguably the best outside of India—I had been struggling to find good Indian cuisine locally. That all changed when Biriyani and Chaat opened its doors.I recently visited with my family and my non-Indian in-laws, and even they were impressed. We ordered a variety of dishes including Chicken Tikka, Paneer Saag, Naan, Rice, and a Paneer Biryani. Each dish was exceptional: the curries were rich and creamy, and the rice was buttery and melted in your mouth. The complimentary chai was a delightful touch, and the staff were incredibly accommodating, especially with my toddler. What makes this restaurant truly special is its unique blend of South Asian flavors. Curious about their diverse menu, I spoke with the owners and discovered that the husband is from Tamil Nadu and the wife is from Punjab. This fusion of backgrounds is clearly reflected in the delicious and varied flavors of their food.Biriyani and Chaat is a gem, and I highly recommend it to anyone looking for authentic and delicious South Asian food!
