King Chuan Restaurant
1188 San Carlos Ave, San Carlos, CA 94070, United States
Pros:One of the few restaurants in San Carlos downtown which is open till midnight.Cons:Pretty much everything else, except may be the place which was relatively clean and service which was not bad for an Asian restaurant. The food was very ordinary and kinda pricy too! I would any day drive a mile further and go to Panda Dumplings for some real Chinese food.
Pho Vinh Vietnamese Restaurant
1065 Holly St #A, San Carlos, CA 94070, United States
Ill start by saying the service here is top notch, especially for a Vietnamese restaurant. Two people were always watching if I happened to glance up, and I was served promptly and graciously. The food here is very palatable, and it arrive quickly and fresh to my table. My issue with this place is that the food does not taste like Vietnamese food to me. I was still craving grilled pork when I left, although the grilled pork I had here was not bad. There was fresh white onion slices and served on my place along with the veggies, but that was a first for me. Another variable was price. For a rice plate (grilled pork with imperial roll combo, $11.95 as of posting) and a drink (Vietnamese iced coffee, $4.50 as of posting) my total came to $17.93, leaving me to leave put an end evening tip, leaving me a whole $20 lighter when I left. Knowing I can get a similar meal for $3-4 cheaper in my neighborhood in SF and knowing I would leave with my flavor cravings satiated, I will most likely only return to try their pho. From the looks of orders from other tables, maybe that is what they do best. For my first experience, I would say excellent service, about 25% overpriced, and a rather different flavor combination than usual for their rice dishes. Being an avid Vietnamese food lover, I will return to try again.
Asian Box
Located in: Noshery, 1754 Laurel St, San Carlos, CA 94070, United States
Critically, this is NOT a dedicated gluten free facility. Unfortunately for those of us who are Asian Box regulars due to them using dedicated gluten free kitchens, this is a shared ghost kitchen which also produces wheat-containing meals. This is not safe for those of us with Celiac, Hashimotos, or wheat allergies.
Red Hot Chilli Pepper
1125 San Carlos Ave, San Carlos, CA 94070, United States
We discovered this excellent restaurant while looking for food in the area. The food, perfect for those seeking Indian-Asian fusion cuisine, exceeded our expectations. Although street parking was challenging due to nearby construction, we luckily found a spot right next to the restaurant during our midweek noon visit.
SC Noodle House
648 El Camino Real, San Carlos, CA 94070, United States
New fusion restaurant at San Carlos. It serves Thai, Chinese, Vietnamese, and Korean dishes. It has full bar service. We didnt make a reservation and get seated right away. It was not busy when we arrived but after thatvit was packed. The interior is very nicely decorated. We ordered rare beef pho and salt and pepper wing. The dishes were ready pretty quickly. The service is goodThe chicken wing is yummy but a bit salty. The soup of the pho is not hot enough and also too sweet for me. I can taste a strong onion flavor, and sweetness is from the onion. I prefer less sweet. The meat is tender. Overall, the food is good, but if you are looking for authentic pho soup, this might not be the one. Next visit, we will try other dishes. Price is a bit high but reasonable. The restaurant also adds 3.25% for good living wages on the bill. If you want to try various asian noodles and cusines under one roof, you should give it a try.

Shiki Bistro
825 Laurel St, San Carlos, CA 94070, United States
I ordered dinner from here through DoorDash last night and tried to leave a review on DoorDash, but they don't seem to be putting it up. This was the worst sushi I've ever had and I got really sick ( violent stomach aches and vomiting). The sushi rolls, seaweed salad, nigiri and hand roll looked and smelled like old fish and like it had been sitting out for awhile (I should have been suspicious that it was delivered within 15 minutes after ordering on a Saturday evening). It all just seemed like very poor quality and not fresh, NOT what you want when ordering sushi especially. Even the shrimp nigiri was horrible and a rip off- they literally sliced the very top of the shrimp and placed on a bed of old smelling rice (see pic). The seaweed salad looked and tasted like it was from out of a can and was like soup with all the syrup-like sauce on it. The snow dragon roll just tasted like fake crab and mayonnaise. And the tuna hand roll was just as bad. Just for reference I do not have any food allergies and I am a regular sushi eater. I was excited to try this place out after reading some good reviews and it being my first sushi in California and man was I disappointed and sick. Save yourself the risk please and order elsewhere! I'm a nurse and just wanted to warn others.Side note: no chopsticks or soy sauce were given and there was not an option to add to the DoorDash order.
Poked Out Fish Bar
603 Laurel St, San Carlos, CA 94070, United States
Defintely Poked Out after the lunch. Ordering method is broken down nicely and listed down well in the menu. It goes like Base + Poke + Mix-in + Sauce + Add-ons. I have chosen the medium sized bowl where I got 4 scoops of poke instead of mentioned 3, all the sizes get additional scoop as complementary. Chose couple of miso shrimp and spicy crab(it was spicy indeed) scoops. Tofu medley was not that great, tough to satisfy vegetarians or vegans. I felt the quantity was overwhelming for one person, small would be more than enough. Priced around $20 for the medium, its on the expensive side, but the diverse selections make it recommendable. Note that it's only a to-go restaurant.
Rangoon Ruby Burmese Cuisine
680 Laurel St, San Carlos, CA 94070, United States
We came here for dinner and ordered chicken kebat and a Rangoon chicken curry, both at a medium level spice, a palata, a side of coconut rice and Burmese-Indian rice as sides and sticky rice with ice cream as a dessert. The Chicken kebash was delicious and complex in flavors. The curry was a rich dish with melt-in-your-mouth chicken. The spicy ness level in general was mild but not hot, so I asked for more spice and they gave us a homemade chili that was really spicy but flavorful. Use carefully! We also ordered coconut rice and Burmese-Indian rice as sides to have a contrast with the chickens. The coconut rice was delicious, rich and sticky and went well with the dishes. The Burmese Indian rice on the other hand was dry tasted as almost as if it was reheated but the flavor was nice and strong. The palata was really really good! The sticky rice with ice cream was delicious and well made. The rice was at a perfect level of sweetness so it wasn't overly sweet or overpowering the ice cream. The presentation was really nice and it was clear that the chef took their time to make a nice dish. The place was clean and tidy and it was a nice place overall with a simple decoration. I was surprised to see a piece of paper covering the table instead of a tablecloth tho. The food was served quickly and the servers refilled our water constantly! The service in general was just ok. There was one woman, (might be the owner or manager?) that went around asking for orders and how the food was. She was welcoming and warm and that made us feel valued and cared for. The rest of the staff was quite quiet, serious and even looked bored or sad.The prices are good but on the expensive end. The size of portions of the chicken dishes and the rice sides were big and the food was high quality, so it made us feel like we had a good value for the food. However, I do have to say that the palata was around $9-10 which was really too much.In general the food was delicious and I'd recommend this place to explore different flavors and dishes.Service 3/5Food 4/5Price 4/5Place 5/5
Noshery
1754 Laurel St, San Carlos, CA 94070, United States
This is a combination kitchen preparing the menus of a number of restaurants. I had some food from Asian box, and was disappointed as the quality was lower than other locations I have visited. The menu was also more limited.
