Apey Kade Restaurant
19662 Ventura Blvd, Tarzana, CA 91356, United States
I had been wanting to try this place for a long time, and Im so happy I finally got to. Id never had Sri Lankan food, and it was different from anything Ive ever had before. The flavors are indescribable, and incredible. Everything tasted fresh. My expectations were high, and they were still exceeded by a marathon. I dont have the words to describe how stunning the food was. I had the vegetable hopper. It was a plate of noodles and a spicy vegetable salad (? Im not sure what it would be called but it was good), with three side dishes to put on the noodles- a coconut soup, a green-bean vegetable dish, and a squash curry. I went with my dad, and he ordered the same as I did, but his came with a dahl- like food instead of squash. I think its really cool how you can order the same thing and still get some variation, while also being able to have confidence that everything is delicious- my dad and I shared our side dishes, so I can confirm that the dahl was amazing. The people running the restaurant were helpful and kind, and the inside of the restaurant while small was impeccably clean. The food was quite spicy, which I loved, but if you dont like spicy food you might not like it as much. The spice is different from other spicy foods that Ive had, though, so if theres just a particular brand of spice that you dislike, you should still give this a try. Also, its a vegetarian-friendly place, which is always lovely to find.
Coco Thai Kitchen

Their food gave my husband food poisoning. Extremely bad! First of all, I loved their BBQ ribs with fried rice despite the fact that there fried rice is not the best. It was really the ribs that I liked but my husband ordered the same dish and while mine was barely war, his was very hot! We thought it was odd that we both ordered the same exact dish but they came at two different temperatures. I ordered these to go and picked them up. Anyway, I ate my almost cold food and he ate the hot food. Turns out that he got violently ill just a llittle while later and he hadnt eaten anything else so I know it was their food. I suspect that they left his dish out too long, it started going bad or got contaminated and then they reheated it to give it to us. Why else would they be two different temperatures? I dont know but he already complained that it wasnt fair that their shrimp fried rice came with three tiny shrimp and no veggies like they are supposed to put in fried rice. I wish I had listened to him and didnt order their food again only for him to get sick. Be warned. I wont go back and I wouldnt risk your stomach for the not so great food.
BBQ Teriyaki & Sushi
18855 Ventura Blvd, Tarzana, CA 91356, United States
I love the food, hands down great. Theyre Boba is beyond terrible and I dont think they care and know theyre skimming on ingredients.I just ordered a chicken teriyaki plate with a banana strawberry boba. The plate was great but the salad that came along with my order had next to zero salad dressing. I do love it so it was disappointing but I didnt think my drink would be so awful.I was crossing my fingers that their Boba would be on point for once. I got a milk smoothie with bland tasteless Boba. No strawberry and the faintest taste of banana.Every time I order a Boba there I think maybe I got a bad day or something, I try different ones that they offer but theyre terrible. Each employee doesnt make it correctly and its either too sweet or just like what I got today.Maybe remove Boba all together because that was LAME.New guy working there with glasses, has the worst customer service skills as well.I usually order there a lot but this is getting dumb

Niko Sushi

The food is not bad but the service was disappointing. We came in and were asked about drinks right away, but we wanted to ask for something else and our server just turned around and left not giving us a chance to order everything we wanted. The menu is not too big, no pictures, I used yelp pictures to choose what I wanted. We waited for 15 minutes ready to order and they would just walk by not stopping or asking if we were ready. The food came and it was nothing special, California roll was dry. I was pretty surprised to find out that they charge for sauces. The most disappointing part was that we werent asked if we want refills, not even once, everyone at the table had empty cups and 3 waitress walking by didnt notice. At the beginning of our dinner it was busy, but towards the end it wasnt as bad anymore so I hope we would get little bit more attention.

VIPs Cafe
18345 Ventura Blvd, Tarzana, CA 91356, United States
VIP's cafe is welcoming, serving classic staple food with a bang for your buck. Here's the break down.Environment:As mentioned, very welcoming with a mom and pop diner vibe. The waiters and waitresses will fix you up, if any trouble comes when deciding what to order. The interior has recently (couple years now) been refurbished, offering a nice mid century blend. There are plenty of seats whether it be dining at the counter, with two people, four people, or a party of 6+. Lastly, there tables situated in the patio, facing Ventura Blvd, with shade offered.Food & Drinks:They offer a vast menu for food and drinks, whether it be for breakfast, brunch, or lunch. You can't go wrong with the pancakes, French toast, and staple breakfast options. The burgers are standard sized, I believe their pattys blended by VIP's. Lastly, it's a great spot to sip on some mimosas, thank me later.Overall:VIP's is a classic spot to go to whether it be a lunch break, time alone, or gathering with friends and family. The interior elicits mid century dining (furniture). A well cleaned restaurant with hospitable workers and owners. The food is well portioned, and honestly for the price it is a bang for your buck. The food isn't extraordinary, but rather nostalgic and filling, it's not meant to be a Michelin oriented plate or experience. Example, the cheeseburger ($13) comes with two sides, whether you want onion rings, coleslaw (try this one out, imagine taking some to go and putting it on some bbq), fries, or some of their other side options. If you've read up to this point, I always like to leave a bit of crumbs to the readers. Free validation for the parking lot, with vast amount of parking. Coffee comes with free refills. Tons of famous people come to this cafe, just take a look at their walls with pictures of such people.

Sri Lankan cuisine is a delightful combination of flavors, spices, and unique dishes influenced by the countrys rich history and diverse cultural influences. Here are some popular Sri Lankan delights you should try:1. Rice and Curry: This is the staple dish in Sri Lanka. It typically consists of steamed rice served with an array of curries, including vegetable curries, lentil curries, fish curries, and chicken or mutton curries. The curries are often flavored with spices like cinnamon, cardamom, cloves, and curry leaves.2. Hoppers (Appa): Hoppers are a popular Sri Lankan breakfast item. They are bowl-shaped pancakes made from fermented rice flour and coconut milk. You can have plain hoppers or egg hoppers, which have an egg cracked into the center of the pancake.3. Kottu Roti: Kottu Roti is a famous street food in Sri Lanka. It is made by stir-frying shredded godhamba roti (a type of flatbread) with vegetables, eggs, and your choice of meat or seafood. It is usually seasoned with spices and served with a spicy curry sauce.4. String Hoppers (Idiyappam): String Hoppers are thin, noodle-like strands made from rice flour. They are steamed and served with coconut sambol (a condiment made with grated coconut, chili, and spices) or curry.5. Pol Sambol: Pol Sambol is a spicy coconut relish made with grated coconut, red onions, chili peppers, lime juice, and Maldive fish flakes (optional). It is often served as a side dish with rice and curry or as a filling for hoppers and roti.6. Fish Ambul Thiyal: Fish Ambul Thiyal is a popular sour fish curry made with chunks of fish cooked in a tamarind-based sauce with spices like black pepper, cinnamon, and curry leaves. It is a signature dish from the southern part of Sri Lanka.7. It has a custard-like consistency and is often garnished with cashew nuts or grated coconut. These are just a few examples of the delightful dishes you can find in Sri Lanka. The countrys cuisine is incredibly diverse, and there are many more unique and flavorful dishes to explore.
Garden Wok

As a long-time customer since 2016, I am deeply saddened to write this review about my recent visit to this particular location of the restaurant. Over the years, I have enjoyed numerous pleasant experiences at this establishment, but my most recent visit was an absolute nightmare that left me questioning my loyalty.Upon arrival, my boyfriend and I were promptly seated, expecting the usual excellent service and delicious food. However, what followed was an agonizing wait of over 1.5 hours before our food was finally prepared. To make matters worse, we noticed that three other parties who were seated after us were served their orders well before we were even acknowledged.Feeling frustrated and ignored, we decided it was time to leave. However, as we were on the verge of leaving the parking lot, the owner harassed us while we were in the car and blatantly lied, claiming that our food had been prepared and was just about to be served. It became apparent that his only intention was to collect our payment and prevent us from leaving the premises. It was a clear display of disrespect and disregard for our time and satisfaction.I find it deeply disheartening that the owners of this establishment, whom I had previously respected, have demonstrated such a lack of care for their customers. This incident is not an isolated one, as I have experienced rude behavior from them on multiple occasions. It is clear that they do not value their customers or take their satisfaction seriously. As a result of this distressing encounter, I have made the decision to no longer support this restaurant. I believe in supporting establishments that appreciate their customers and provide a high standard of service. I will be taking my business elsewhere, where my loyalty and patronage are valued. It is my sincere hope that the owners reflect on their actions and make necessary changes to improve their customer service. Until then, I cannot, in good conscience, recommend this restaurant to others. There are plenty of other establishments that prioritize their customers and treat them with the respect they deserve.
