Holey Bagels & Asian Market
2193 S State St, Ukiah, CA 95482, United States
So excited to have an Asian Market/Eatery in Ukiah! We had so much fun looking at all the fresh produce, like Lemongrass, Logan Fruit, and Durian. The wide assortment of frozen seafood (fish, oysters, scallops) was also an inspiration for our next meal. 100 Year Old Duck Eggs? They got ‘em. Crispy Fish Skin? They have Garlic and Spicy. Fresh made Kimchi? They got you covered. Usually we would need to drive an hour away to find these items. The owner is also open to procuring any items shoppers may suggest, like that spicy Japanese mayonnaise with the red cap!We also enjoyed lunch while we were there. We were offered a taste before we decided. They feature a fresh daily Combo Bowl: Choose Fried Rice or Chow Mein. Add roasted Porkbellies or Teriyaki Chicken or Spicy Jalapeño Ginger Chicken. They also offer a wide variety of delicious bagels and bagel sandwiches. I asked for a Lox Bagel, and they obliged. I am a bit of a Lox Bagel junkie. This one did NOT disappoint. My daughter ordered a Honey Dew Boba, and it was cold and delicious. My son got a Blueberry Muffin. I'm telling you, there is something for everyone! What stood out the most was the Service. Thank you Amanda and Casey. Our first experience at Holey Bagel was so positive, we will be regulars! We can't wait to see what you do with the potential you have. We wish you all the best in Ukiah!

Didnt even have the food to rate it but what a terrible experience. I arrive to a completely empty restaurant which didnt bother me, I was hungry and figured my food would be that much better. I get seated and start looking over the menu. the waitress walks off and takes a call. A group of 3 arrive all the while, they are greeted and another call comes over. I have decided what I want but I am patiently waiting for her to return to my table when she goes directly to the group the just walked in and begins taking their order. I want to hope this is not because Im African American but I honestly dont see any other reason why I wasnt addressed first. I got up and left. No attempt was made nor was anything said to me. Pretty Crap experience for a place that looks like it could really use some business
Taste of Nepal
1639 S State St A, Ukiah, CA 95482, United States
This is a small location, the only place to find South Asian food in the area. Most dishes offered are Indian in style but there are a few Napolese choices on the menu. The restaurant itself is decorated with some items from Nepal. The choice of decor made the environment feel comforting as if you were about to enjoy a home-cooked meal. The staff was very friendly and was attentive to watching the progression of our food so we would not have everything come at once as common in this type of restaurant. We enjoyed the Vegetable Pekoras to start our meal with. Then our main dishes for the two of us was an order of Bhindi, Butter Chicken, and Onion Kulchha. My only disappointment is we had ordered everything as mild and should have said medium spice but now we know to order better next time.If you are in the area this is a must-try location if you enjoy South Asian style food.

I love the idea of going to vegetarian restaurants in the temple because I had such positive experience back in southern California but this one certainly not in my want to go back list. The food was great but the service was lack of letting you know what is exactly important ingredients in the dish especially if you are allergic to peanut they use peanut oil for deep-frying stuff which in the menu didnt show they just print that if you have food allergies please let us know and we did but they should have recommended us not to order deep fry menu since we cant eat peanut but instead they cook the food probably half way already then come to us and tell us. The price was high for such little potion that in fact all the ingredients are tofu and vegetables which cheaper that meat. Not going back for sure.
City of Ten Thousand Buddhas
2001 Talmage Rd, Ukiah, CA 95482, United States
The house of ten thousand Buddhas an old abandoned hospital that was purchased in the seventies and has been incredibly transformed into a school to teach one lineage of Buddhism. The staff I met was cheerful helpful laughing and working hard to make the facility even nicer to accommodate the people that are here as they continue their practice on a day to day basis. The small museum in the administration building is interesting if you want to know any of the history of this lineage, otherwise it will be some artifacts and just old things. The grounds are spacious. The roads and walkways are wide with plenty of room to stroll. As you enter you are greeted by a huge Chinese gatethat you drive beneath on your way to the first facility. TThe Hall of ten thousand Buddhas is quite a vortex of energy. To sit and meditatethere, well its quite powerful. There are gold Buddhas adorning wall row after row after row after row after row. Impressive as you sat and absorb this energy, people come in pay their respects, bow and pray move on about their day. It is a very impressive room and not to be missed. For me it was an overwhelming experience to consider all the good work that has gone on at this facility the energy was very powerful all I can say is triple wow! The good vibrations lasted long after my departure from this energy vortex.

I lived on Mill Creek Rd in 1961 in the summer.... not long. There was a State Hospital right in the area of this temple. I was wondering if this temple is in the same location, as that Hospital had a bad reputation of a lot of abuse, and closed. Going east as you go up the hill in the woods, on Mill Creek Rd there were a couple of reservoirs as you head in to the Cow Mountain Recreational area. The first and largest one of them, people would swim in them back them Camped there once with cub scouts then with my brother. We would see salamanders come up to the surface then dive back down. I remember them as being orange in color. People were swimming and going off rope swings on the other side of that reservoir that were tied to trees, when I was last there in August 1978. Very neat area. The dam there looks gated off to people now. Saftey thing Im sure.Going there this June 23.
Stanford Inn & Resort on the Mendocino Coast
44850 Comptche Ukiah Rd, Mendocino, CA 95460, United States
Im SO sorry to report that this establishment is simply NOT WORTH THE COST! Im only giving 2 stars instead of 1 because of the comfort of the room and the beautiful grounds. But having spent over $1100 for a 2 night stay that we intended to be a retreat for our anniversary, we are super unsatisfied customers, wondering what we actually received for that cost.Points of dissatisfaction:Massage -I called to book a couples massage the week before our arrival; it was unavailable, which was disappointing but understandable in these weird COVID times. An alternative location, however, wasnt suggested. I was told there was probably something in town for massage. That didnt sit right, but I did a search and found a place right away - over $100 cheaper than would have been at the Inn, by the way. I booked it feeling sorry that wed have to leave the Inn at all. Then, as we were checking in, someone offered us the massage on premises after all - but of course I would not cancel with the other business as it was less than a 24 hour notice, so we declined that offer and felt irritated that no contact was made to let us know in advance of arrival.Food -Were from LA. Were foodies and were vegan. There are COUNTLESS delicious vegan restaurants to choose from in our area, and we frequently seek new places. The idea that the Inn was completely plant-based and glowed with food reviews (including mention of Oprah Magazine) was one of the big reasons, if not THE big reason, for the stay. We were ABSOLUTELY led astray on the food! GREATLY disappointed with every dish we tried to enjoy while there. Dinner the first night was so poorly prepared and plated that my dish was removed from the bill, and we cancelled our reservations for the next night. We ordered a tofu small plate -strips of tofu with grill marks across them, not fried or crisped in any way, not seasoned or marinated at all, arranged in a tasty but very ordinary Asian sauce. My wild mushroom and creamy polenta was a plate of mushrooms that were so roasted that they were dried almost like jerky and unseasoned. The polenta was a porridge consistency, slightly chunky which was not creamy to me, with a drizzle across the top that was heat-lamp dried -the dish was supposed to have a port reduction... I think that was it. And the Brussel sprouts on the plate were undercooked and unseasoned. How a plant-based restaurant messes up Brussel sprouts is a puzzler for sure! My husbands enchiladas were flavorful but not hot. We got breakfast delivered the next morning, and giving grace for COVID and food delivery, we understood why things were not particularly hot. But we didnt understand the house made English muffin on my Benedict that was not English muffiny at all -not crisp or airy and tasted a bit of blueberry- or the tempeh in my husbands burrito that, like the tofu the night before, had no seasoning of its own and wasnt crumpled but instead diced and undercooked for color or crispness.Sustainability -This was another one of the selling points for this Inn, only to find that the in-room Keurig that did not use refillable or compostable pods, the spoons at the same coffee station were non-compostable (as were the food delivery utensils) and the sparkling water that was poured in my cocktail was from a plastic bottle.Honestly, the trip was long from LA. I imagine that people come from all across the country, maybe even internationally based on the past reviews. But this Inn is NOT worth the price on any level. And its particularly unfortunate because Mendocino is so quaint and beautiful. I hope they can turn it around.
