Panda Express

This location is very frustrating. The (kids) working here seem to have no direction at all, they lack training it seems. The food portions are insufficient, compared to the above average prices paid. The food preparation seems as if it is a task needed to be learned on a daily basis. The servers dont seem to be communicating with the cooks that the food bins are close to empty, or indeed empty, causing a line of customers to wait for the food to come out. The manager (if any) seems detached of any employee training liabilities . The parent company apparently pledged $9 million for childrens hospital, and thats fine, but we all know that the customers whom they ask every single day for donations wont receive any credit while the CEO basks in the limelight. I have donated my changw at this location a dozen times already, and they still keep asking, I said no more my last visit. You would think they would serve larger portions because of the charity-they dont !Its a simple concept...keep the food bins full, keep the facility clean, serve the customer, charge the customer, then move on to the next. Thats how restaurants (not) lose customers.

I had been coming here to this location for years. It had been a little while since going there, but wow, how the portion size has changed! The bowl is all rice and a small portion of chicken. They used to serve good portions. Im quite disappointed in that seeing as the prices have increased, yet the portions have decreased. The cashier was friendly, and the service was quick. But for me, the food pricing and amount of food you get is not worth it. There are way more options for bowls with bigger portions for that pricing. Hopefully, you guys improve your portion sizing, Ive noticed other reviews mentioning the same. ?

I seriously don't recommend coming here. I mean, by all means you can try it. But just be warned, the food is Awful, the food is straight AWFUL. It smelled like cow barn.(This gets even better, keep reading)And by FAR the worst staff, manager and owner I've ever encountered in my life. They don't care about you, they won't accommodate you, and the staff is extremely undertrained.Terrible smell, bad aftertaste, and probably the worst customer service I've ever encountered in my life. I almost puked after the first bite, which has never happened. And this wasn't just me, this was my entire party of 3.I asked if my friend could have a similar dish since the first one was just.. it was just terrible, they told me sure and began preparing it.It gets better.. keep reading..5 minutes later the waiter comes and says it's gonna be an extra $7. This is very odd. it's kinda inconvenient to not like your food, then be told, hey since you don't like the food, we'll replace it with a similar dish and then charge you extra, since you didn't like it. Again.. not about the money.. more like.. uh ???I asked why they would charge us extra, and not accommodate, I mean it really wasn't a big difference.(Id like to stare that I really don't look too deep into the details of a restaurant, but this was insane)There are standards for every food establishment. And this one ran its business worse than a fast food restaurant. Fast food restaurants are actually really accommodating, when there's an inconvenience and it's never like a back and forth war zone over $7. Taco Bell cares more about its customers than this place, it was quite hilarious.(It gets better)But the service was so bad that I eventually asked for the owner. The manager gave me the phone and I had a 30 Minute phone call with the owner. (30 MINUTES). I was just listening.. and listening.. and man.I was blown away from the insanity of the owner and his mindset on his business, it was 30 minutes of him basically saying, it doesn't really matter about dissatisfaction of customers, or bad reviews, or reputation. He kept going on how business needs to make money! It's all about profit! Basically screaming, this restaurant is essentially a cash cow for me, that $7 difference means a lot to me, and I'm willing to be on the phone with you for half an hour, but you're not getting that dish for same price. (Again, not about the money). This was amazing entertainment, I really wish I recorded it. The owner is a personally for sure.Keep in mind, this man doesn't mind being on the phone with me for 30 minutes, but is so focused on money that he wouldn't replace the dish my friend had that tasted terrible. This was about a $7 difference. 30 minutes with the owner. Over replacing a similar dish, because every dollar counts, and it's a business!Over and over again, he talked about how it's a business, and every penny counts!' (Not joking lol)Its important for restaurants to treat their customers well, especially when the food isnt good. Restaurants are in the industry of hospitality. I wont go back and I'll probably never forget that interaction. It was pretty funny being on the phone for 30 minutes with the owner exaggerating about how money rules everything around him. This was more entertainment than annoyance.Again, don't come. You wont like the food, but you might be entertained by a phone call with the owner. He's a personality.
Whittier - California Sushi & Teriyaki
11879 Whittier Blvd, Whittier, CA 90601, United States
Food is decent at best but beware of the cheap, rude owner.. Weve been overcharged a couple times before realizing it and when we did bring it up to him our food came out under cooked and the owner was acting like we stole something from him. Dude seriously its not gonna break the bank to give up some extra teriyaki sauce and theres no need to be a complete tool and huff and puff about it. This place would be a lot better if the cheap skate owner would let somebody more friendly do the ordering and deal with the public.
Montebello Pho & Sandwich
2456 W Whittier Blvd, Montebello, CA 90640, United States
I was in California on business and we were having a craving for Pho, so after a bit of a search we found a few places, we happened on Montebello Pho & Sandwich. Initially the GPS didnt do us any favors and got us lost twice saying we were at the address, but it is a little behind where the GPS sent us. We almost gave up but then eventually figured it out and I am so glad we did.Montebello Pho & Sandwich is one of the best Pho restaurants I have been to while I was in California!!! First off, I had never seen a Pho place with a drive thru, that was amazing!!! The menu was quite different than what Im used to in Canada at a Pho place, but it still had all the staple items you would expect ... The service was great and the owners were very friendly. I found eating on the outdoor patio while the sun was setting was such a nicer experience than Im used to for a Pho restaurant. We shared a few starters and each got a meal and no one was disappointed with what they got. The bubble tea was tasty and was a nice completion to the already great meal. All and all next time I go back to California I hope I get to stop in for another meal. 5/5 for sure !!!
Raku Teriyaki and Sushi Roll
5416 Norwalk Blvd # B1, Whittier, CA 90601, United States
Excellent prices for sushi. Not a lot of room to sit down, no actual dishes to eat off of (just paper/plastic plates and trays) and not much charm in the atmosphere there, this is a place to order to-go. The fish on the sushi was a bit warm for my taste, but everything tasted delicious anyway. I had to try the super dragon roll as the pictures looked amazing, and I have to say it didnt disappoint. Overall I really have no idea how this is the highest rated sushi place in Whittier, when there are probably sit-down restaurants that get the atmosphere right (though theyre probably more expensive). However that doesnt mean I wont be back, on the contrary, I will probably order from these guys again, whether through pick-up or through a delivery app. For these prices Im not sure if you can best their sushi, but Ive yet to try every sushi place in the area as I just moved to the area. Will update when Ive tried a few more places. As it stands Im sure you could find tastier sushi, but at what cost? These guys do a great job for a great price, and try to make you feel at home for the short time youre there.
WaBa Grill

Found a small metal nail, the size of a piece of rice in my waba plate, I ate it, felt something hard and cold, and immediately spat it out. I was offered to have my name put down on a piece of paper and and IOU for another waba bowl. I don't know how or why there is a nail in my rice, but that is never acceptable. If I was being less cautious, and I had swallowed the nail I would be in a big mess to try to get it out and it would've become a big legal problem for waba.
Panda Express

If youre trying to get lunch between Monday thru Friday when you only have a 30 minute break I would strongly suggest to go somewhere else because both times Ive gone around the hours of 12pm to 1pm it took them at the very least between 20 to 25 minutes (m-f), just order and get food to go. Good food but unorganized and seems slammed during the working persons lunch time. Hope the figure this problem out before I just stop going do to I cant eat my food at lunch. Lastly to top it off the past 2 times Ive gone they didnt give me a fork to eat the food they took forever to prepare. This really should never happen but it did both time in a row.
Maki Yaki Japanese Grill (Uptown)
6736 Bright Ave, Whittier, CA 90601, United States
2 crunch rolls 2 miso soups 2 drinks for $22.50. This was a meal that should have been for 2 people. Very pricey. The roll came in 8 pieces. Do not go here on an empty stomach and an empty pocket. Be prepared to pay a good amount a money for a little amount of food. I called another Maki Yaki same restraint different area in the city. Same city in Whittier in The Quad Shopping stores and they would have charged me $16.50 for everything. They said they have been working for 3 years. Well if they want more customers they are doing a horrible job at it. Its a 1 star strong.

Waba Soto is my go to for lunch in between my work meetings when I am in the area. They are quick and healthy and give the perfect balance between a delicious meal and a healthy meal. This location is clean and the staff there are always so accommodating. I order a chicken bowl with white meat only with veggies. That gets me to a perfectly satisfied portion without feeling bloated or full so I can get on with my day. Im so happy I found this Waba as I have been going here to this location for a little over 4 years now. If youre looking to make a quick change to your health and diet, Waba is a perfect and easy way to start. Also the Half and Half bowl is my cheat meal/treat. The beef is so YUMMY!
