Tasty Noodle House
2501 S El Camino Real, Carlsbad, CA 92008, United States
Amazing food, which came out hot, tasted phenomenal, & the service here was above average. My wife picked this place, & she told me it was new, so we gave them some business. The only thing I didnt like about this place, was their Thai iced tea, as well as this iced green tea was $4.75, per glass, for a regular-sized glass-with no free refills. I showed up here super thirsty, & theres no way I was gonna pay apporox. $10 for 2 glasses of tea.Tasty Noodle House starts off by bringing you two small, free bowls -1 filled with fresh salted peanuts, which were very good! The other was a bright green mound of pickled cucumber, mixed with seaweed. This was also mighty ?.I ordered the $15.99 Beef Chow Mein, In Black Pepper Sauce. When my plate came out, my eyes bugged out, when I saw how gynormous, the mound, of steaming hot noodles, mixed with green vegetable & thin, tender strips of beef, was! Not only that, my food tasted amazing! The pepper sauce...gave this dish a nice zing of flavor. My wife ordered the Beef Brisket Noodle Soup. She loved hers, as well. There were humongous chunks of Asian-spiced Brisket, along with a large bowl of tender, super hot noodles, plus baby greens. In the broth, you could clearly taste the cardamom, & the flavor from red chile peppers, plus also the tastes derived from cinnamon sticks. Yowza, this was so good!To cap it off, we ordered Shanghai-Grilled Pork Buns. These babies looked beautiful, tasted incredible, & were loaded with ground pork. There were golden brown sear marks on the bottom of these, & pale-colored sesame seeds, on the bottom of these, & black sesame seeds, sprinkled on the top of these Pork Buns, which really rocked!Id definitely come back here!
Chins Szechwan - Carlsbad
2820 Roosevelt St, Carlsbad, CA 92008, United States
Stumbled upon this Chinese restaurant the other night while driving home. The waitress working was so kind and maintained great customer service while juggling bunch of phone and delivery orders.Black Pepper steak - 10/10Honey walnut shrimp - this isnt something I usually prefer at a Chinese restaurant but the waitress recommended it since its the most popular 10/10Ma La Three Flavor - had shrimp, chicken, & beef. I love the numbing spice and got a 5 out of 5 spicy. Dont be hesitant to order 5. I would say its a pretty normal spice and Im not one to eat too spicy. 10/10Chow Mein - the noodles are fried and it comes with the sauce that you pour on top. I didnt expect the whole thing to be fried and its usually not for me. Overall still great flavor just wouldnt order again. 8/10Salt & pepper wings - amazing! Must get this when you come 10/10

Carlsbad Alkaline Water
2802 Carlsbad Blvd, Carlsbad, CA 92008, United States
Amazing place to grab Alkaline water by the gallon! Ive always had to purchase alkaline water from Fresh and Easy by the 32 oz. water bottles, and those can get pricey after a while. Compare to the 3-gallon jugs I get for about the same price, and the water sold here are a STEAL! You cant beat that.PARKING/HOURS: Depending on your timing, you can either get lucky with parking in front, or having to park across the street (2 spaces across the street are dedicated to Carlsbad Alkaline water customers only). If all are taken, I usually end up waiting for about 2-3 minutes before someone pulls out of their spot. Not too bad. All of the customers are parked just so they can refill their gallons. Whats great is their water service is 24-hours, BUT if you need to speak to an employee, they are there only during their hours of operation. I love how its accessible 24-hours though. I sometimes end up going here really late at night with no problems at all.WATER QUALITY : Amazing! I love their water here. Anyone reading this who is wondering what alkaline water does for your body, (as opposed to regular drinking water), look it up! The difference is HUGE. I forget the pH level of the water here, but its consistently silky.PRICE: They did raise their prices once since my husband and I first started coming here 2 years ago. Filling up a 3-gallon is still cheaper than buying a single bottle of alkaline water elsewhere though. :) Cant beat that price.LOCATION: My only downside, which really isnt a downside. I live in the Golden Triangle area so its quite a drive up to Carlsbad Village, but still worth it and not even an issue. I bought several 3-gallon jugs from them (they sell 1-gallon, 3-gallon, and 5-gallon. 5-gallon jugs would be too heavy for me to carry upstairs to my apartment, so Ive opted for 4 3-gallon jugs, and 1 1-gallon jug. Because of having this many, I dont really have to make too many trips to this place. Only when theyre all empty, or Im down to the last jug. :)WATER PORTIONS: The machines pour out the water in either 1-gallon, 3-gallons, and 5-gallons. Theres also an ozone rinse you do before you refill your jugs. Since its all computerized, thereve been times when my 3-gallon water purchase will literally overflow to what feels like 3.5 gallons, so err on the side of caution when its about to reach the top. I close the plastic door shut just in case it does. Other times, itll be just right. And a few times, it seems to be missing about a quarter gallon more, but I leave it alone. There has been a customer whos complained about this while I was there (minding my business, but cant help to eavesdrop because they were complaining to the employee really loud). Eh. I digress. Its ALKALINE WATER! I love it here, so I cant complain.

My girlfriend found metal in her food from our purchase at the Carlsbad location. As a Food Safety Professional in the industry with over 10 years of ensuring consumers eat safe food, it was a natural instinct for me to report this foreign material incident. Therefore, I called the store and ask to speak to the Manager on the shift at the time. After a pleasant conversation with me sharing my concerns about them checking their process, the manager ask if I would bring the metal back to the restaurant. I kindly agree feeling it was best in order to prevent re-occurrence. I mean, what if this had been a small child? I even agreed to send this Manager pictures of the metal to his personal cell phone (as seen in pics). Anyway, the Manager thanked me and took my home address ensuring me that he would send us free meal coupons for the contaminated meal. This happened on a Saturday and I brought the metal to the restaurant the following Monday.I waited for about two weeks for my coupons and nothing ever came. Therefore, I text the same Manager back asking about the coupons, and he went completely ghost on me. As an avid Vegetarian customer, this was very disappointing to me. Unfortunately, I will be spending my money someplace else because of this poor experience. You lost a lifetime customer. ...I dont have children yet, but you lost them too.
Tabu Shabu Bressi Ranch
2674 Gateway Rd Suite 190, Carlsbad, CA 92009, United States
Ive eaten at many Shabu places and Tabu Shabu didnt appeal to my taste buds at all. What makes a great Shabu is the combination of meat, sauces and the soup base. Although the meat was fine, the pork bone soup base was extremely salty. Worst parts are the ponzu which was vinegary, and instead of a sauce, the sesame was a paste that was grainy. From the very first bite, I was not happy. Tabu was also the most expensive Shabu place Ive ever been to and based on other ratings, was very excited to try it. Unfortunately, it didnt even come close to my expectations. I thought maybe it was just me, so I asked my wife how she liked it and she too said it was very salty. Definitely not a place I can recommend.
China Fusion- La Costa
3410 Via Mercato #100, Carlsbad, CA 92009, United States
Great value and good size portions. When my wife recommended go for a quick lunch I really wasnt impressed because I thought it was just to take out place. I was pleasantly surprised. Im sure a good part of their businesses is take out the restaurant spotless and well designed. As soon as we sat down we were greeted with a complementary cup of soup and I will say the service was excellent. They went out of the way to make sure what we ordered was exactly what we wanted. My wife enjoys spicy foods but not too spicy and they were happy to accommodate. I like shrimp and lobster sauce but Im not fond of mushrooms and again they were happy to accommodate. While we had the lunch portion I was surprised how much food was on the plate besides the entrée there was fried rice and noodles. It was served steaming the hot and thats a big plus in my eyes. I do not like Luke warm food. They have an extensive menu almost 30 items on the lunch menu for under $10 and looking at the menu there are over 100 items to choose from any time of day. While this is a good-sized space they do not have many tables but they do have simple booths. Im sure that lends itself to be more of a takeout place however I would have no problem going there again for a sit down dinner or lunch. It also appears that they deliver so that might be an option that appeals to some.China fusion is located in the Carlsbad the Costa shopping mall off of Rancho Santa Fe and La Costa. My wife has bought takeout a couple of occasions but this was the first time chose to eat in but Im sure it will not be the last time
Krave Asian Fusion Restaurant
6021 Innovation Way Suite 130, Carlsbad, CA 92009, United States
I felt honored to be invited to participate in a soft opening event for Krave Asian Fusion. Although their menu is heavily invested in various Korean Fried Chicken dishes, there are also noodle, burger, fish, and vegan options available (although I didn't find any Gluten Free items).Executive Chef and owner Will Chen was present and was careful to explain that this isn't his first launch, but rather an expansion of his initial footprint first planted in Orange County, California (where his fried chicken has been recognized as award winning). Both the number of courses and portions at this event were generous. Each of the chicken dishes featured very distinctive flavors with my favorite being the “Chinese Chili” offering. It was covered in a sweet and crispy shell with a tender and flavorful chicken center that reminded me of the Lemon Chicken dishes that I've enjoyed elsewhere. A close second for me was the “Spicy” version. I sampled it immediately after the “Mango Habanero” (which was pretty spicy and created apprehension about the “spicy” dish that was to follow). Surprisingly I found the “spicy” dish to be less so than the “habanero” dish.To round out the chicken dishes I also sampled the “Soy Chili” (which I found crispy, but not as sweet as the “Chinese Chili”), “Lemon Pepper” (which was a bit salty for my palette), and the “Taiwan 5 Spice” (which had a very thick and crunchy shell).Their other offerings included “Taiwanese Garlic Noodles” (the garlic smell was wonderful and the noodles were light, but buttery, possibly because they were sautéed in olive oil) and the “Loaded Kogi Fries” (the Sriracha Cheddar Sauce was a 2/10 on the hotness scale while the Jalapeños achieved the high score of 6/10).If you enjoy Korean Fried Chicken, Krave is worth your time. And that's…Henry's Take.#sandiegokoreanfriedchicken
Windmill Food Hall
890 Palomar Airport Rd, Carlsbad, CA 92011, United States
Super disappointed with this place. Let me preface by saying the lady that worked here was very nice and helpful, but the food was AWFUL. And very expensive...not the best combination. We went for the Sunday buffet and I urge anyone who wants to try this to reconsider. It is $30 per person first of all, so you would expect this to be a rather decent buffet. Barely any options (the pictures of the buffet are false advertisement because they dont have half the stuff they advertised) It was cafeteria food at best, which might not even be fair to say because my high schools cafeteria had WAY better food than this. I think they may have just bought a bunch of stuff from Food for Less and dumped it into metal trays. The orange juice was 80% water and 20% juice. Not an exaggeration. It was orange in color but tasted like water with a faint hint of orange. Youre really going to cheap out on the only beverage option (besides gas station tier coffee)? Sunny D would have been a major upgrade. I wouldnt visit this buffet again if it was $10 per person..or heck, even free. This didnt come anywhere close to Dennys quality with a worse atmosphere and double the cost. I fully understand now why we were the only patrons for the buffet....
Islands Restaurant Carlsbad
889 Palomar Airport Rd, Carlsbad, CA 92011, United States
Higher Prices and No FriesApparently, the corporate executives of Islands Fine Burgers & Drinks do not care about loosing customers. Like most restaurants I am sure they felt the pressure of the pandemic and were challenged by the many restrictions during the past months. However, the pandemic is no longer and they are operating as usual. Well, that is not completely accurate! They don't have two things that are going to push patrons away. First, they raised their prices. More, importantly one of the things that made Islands a great place to visit was the unlimited hot basket of French fries. They were good, they were bottomless, and they were included with each hamburger and sandwich. Well, no more hot basket of French fries included in the purchase of a hamburger or sandwich. Now, you have to pay for them as a side dish to a hamburger and there are no refills. When you add the price of as drink, the French fires and sales tax to the hamburger, you can spend more than $20 for a meal that is probably worth $10.When I asked the restaurant manager what was going on, she pointed the finger at the corporate executives of Islands. She said she was getting lots of complaints with lots of people saying they do not intend to come back.I contacted the regional manager of the Tustin Islands location at their corporate office in Carlsbad. I was told that person would call me back. Apparently, they really don't care about a customer that is upset. I never received a call.So don't be surprised the next time you want to visit one of the favorite burger spots in Orange County. The prices will be up, there are no fries included, and the restaurant managers will do nothing about it.Islands Fine Burgers & Drinks opened in May 1982 as a casual dining restaurant chain that specialized in burgers, fresh cut fries, and specialty drinks. I have been a customer for 39 years after having first visiting the first Islands in West Los Angeles. Islands justifies their actions by suggestion that they are on a move to offer “cleaner and healthier foods”. Well, I think that action is going to backfire on them and have financial consequences of their success as customers seek out other restaurant alternatives.I don't recommend Islands after almost 40 years. They have taken away from what was part of their legacy… bottomless French fries!
