I’ve eaten dim sum all over, but this was still the best! I’ve had dim sum in Chinese restaurants in India (the proximity to China makes India have excellent Chinese food), Singapore, Malaysia, Chinatown in the US (Chicago, Philly, etc). This was absolutely delicious! Definitely pair it with their passion fruit cocktail
Panda Express
2300 Harbor Blvd N-8, Costa Mesa, CA 92626, United States
I used to give this panda Express 5 stars, but after today this is all I can manage. After working in the food industry so long I understand the pressures of getting costumers through, but not at the expense of customer service. The lady that started taking my order asked if I wanted egg rolls and i said yes, she then proceeded to turn around and take the next customer without allowing me to say which ones. The next person who finishes the order, I think his name was Jonathan or something was speaking so fast I could not understand one word he said. And he was sweating sweating so much he proceeded to wipe his face with his sleeve. When I was trying to tell him I wanted egg rolls and I was also going to add rangoons, he turned around and ignored me and went on to the next customer. Once I voiced that I previously wanted egg rolls, but I guessed they were too busy he decided to ask which ones, but obviously I am not going to spend more money at a place with that kind of treatment towards the customers. Given I have been coming here for years this last visit definitely left a more than bitter taste.
Al Palace Chinese Restaurant
270 Bristol St STE 110, Costa Mesa, CA 92626, United States
Ive been going to Al Palace Chinese Restaurant for a decade, and Ive always loved the authentic and delicious food. The restaurant is family-owned and operated, and they take great pride in using fresh, high-quality ingredients. When you first sit down, youre greeted with a hot pot of tea, which is a great way to start your meal. The menu is extensive, with a wide variety of dishes to choose from. Al Palace offers daily special lunch menu, which has a variety of dishes at a great price.Ive tried a lot of different dishes, but my favorites are the beef chow mein, Mongolian beef, beef pepper steak, and honey walnut shrimp. The hot and sour soup is also a must-try, especially during the cold winter months.I also love the fact that they have different types of fried rice and steamed rice available. And the veggie egg rolls that come on the side are always a delicious treat.Al Palace Chinese Restaurant also offers delivery and catering services, which makes it a great option for parties or business gatherings.I highly recommend trying this restaurant if youre looking for delicious and authentic Chinese food.
No.1 Chinese Food
1175 Baker St #17, Costa Mesa, CA 92626, United States
I ordered green pepper (bell pepper) beef and they gave me jalapeno beef! This was ordered on postmates. I complained to postmates and they said to take it up with the restaurant. I called the restaurant to inform them of the mix up and no one answers the phone and it says to enter my code. Ridiculous. I feel let down by both No. 1 and postmates. Will order from a different Chinese food place for now on.
Sky Express Restaurant
665 Paularino Ave, Costa Mesa, CA 92626, United States
Its located inside the Mitsuwa Marketplace. Theres actually a large Japanese food court in the back of the grocery store. Very authentic Japanese food vendors. This place specializes in dim sum, bao buns, and some Chinese food. The shu-mai pork dim sum is good and made from scratch when you order it. The Xiao Long Bao are average, not enough broth inside. The BBQ pork Bao Buns are good. Excellent Orange chicken, ask for extra garlic. The Chow Mein is ok but somewhat flavorless. It needs a hit of soy sauce, and the chicken is a bit dry. You can choose the thin or thick egg noodle for the Chow Mein. I prefer the thin noodle. Egg drop soup is nice. Minus a star because cash only.

I gave this place another chance and the only real difference is that I called in my order rather than just show up to give my order. I called and the gentlemen took my order and gave an estimated time of 20 minutes. I arrived a tad bit early and the food was ready to go. The food was piping hot and after trying all of the Chinese restaurants in the area, this is by my classification to be the only real Chinese restaurant in Costa Mesa. I have eaten at many restaurants and I can tell you that this is what Chinese food tastes like. Panda Express and Hong Kong Express and the little hole in the wall place next to the 99 cent store could not hold a candle to the flavor of the food from this place. I ordered the Mongolian Beef, Chicken Chu Mein, Sweet and Sour Chicken, and Steamed Rice. All of the food was great, fresh, and hot! The fare is very typical of a quality Chinese restaurant so depending on what you order it can be either cheap or expensive.Im glad I gave this place another chance as they delivered through this time around. I raise my rating of 1 star to 5 star.Original Review:I waited over 20 minutes and received no service. No one took my order. Worst service I have ever experienced from any Chinese restaurant in Orange County, ever!

Paradise Dynasty (South Coast Plaza)
3333 Bristol Street, BLM, 1 Bloomingdale's, Costa Mesa, CA 92626, United States
Second time here but I will not come back. The food is okay but the service is so bad. The server was in hurry and didn’t even check on us the whole time. How come this restaurant in South Coast Plaza has such terrible and unprofessional service. Especially the female manager, she couldn’t even speak proper English, rude and inpatient. I expected this Chinese restaurant has someone who is professional (at least you want to be a competition with DTF).I rather wait 1.5 hour for DTF. Will never come back this restaurant. Don’t waste your money to go here.
Aoki No Chuuka
1525 Mesa Verde Dr E Unit 112, Costa Mesa, CA 92626, United States
When I heard that there was a town Chinese restaurant in America, I went there with some friends as I am a town Chinese fan. Its a shame, Japanese town Chinese food never fails, its generally delicious and theres no score below 80. However, there is no comparison here, and it doesnt deserve about 4 points, not even 1 star. Simple, fast, and delicious Chinese food all at once. Even when I remember it, the taste is still annoying, the alcohol isnt cheap, and the selection is tasteless. I dont really recommend it to Japanese people, and my American friend was also angry about how bad it tasted, so who can eat it? Its been a long time since I was killed by American fake Japanese food.

I recently had takeout at this Chinese restaurant, and my experience left much to be desired. If youre expecting a menu with 2-3 entrees that come as a set, this is not the place for you. Everything here is separate – sides, entrees, drinks, you name it. While I appreciate variety, the issue arises when the pricing doesnt align with the quality offered.I opted for the Orange Chicken and the House Special Beef, which supposedly boasts Angus Beef. However, I have serious doubts about the authenticity of the Angus Beef claim. In fact, I was so disappointed that I took the step of submitting a complaint to the BBB, suspecting that several advertised aspects of this place might not be accurate.Regrettably, I have to be honest about my experience – the price point does not justify the quality of the food. In comparison, a visit to Panda Express would likely provide better value for your money.Despite the convenience of a quick turnaround on a Tuesday night, where my food was prepared within 10 minutes, this was the only positive aspect of my visit. Its disheartening to share a negative review, but I believe in transparency and providing honest feedback. In conclusion, if youre seeking a Chinese restaurant that delivers on both quality and value, you might want to explore other options. My experience, unfortunately, did not live up to the expectations. While it may seem harsh to put them on blast, my intention is to share my genuine encounter and help others make informed choices when choosing where to dine.
