Fortune Garden Chinese Restaurant
899 Embarcadero Dr #4, El Dorado Hills, CA 95762, United States
This is our favorite Chinese restaurant in El Dorado hills and the whole Sacramento area. The staffs are always super friendly and accommodating. Unlike many other Chinese restaurant in Sacramento, the food here are consistently of good quality and delirious.

Edit: Knocked off two stars. First one was because they changed up the order pickup and created a great deal of confusion with people thinking they had to wait in line to get their online orders when in fact they call your name. No masks on anyone waiting. Second star dropped is they actually doubled many of the prices once the county reopened. Theyre now the most expensive chinese restaurant in town. Back to Fortunat Garden!Well, I saw some bad reviews here and on yelp, but wanting some chinese and not many places offering take out in my area, I figured Id give them a shot, especially for their $20 family meal deal, which is a spectacular bargain. Other reviewers said the food was bland or dried out or they received very little. When I went in to get my online order (love touchless transactions during the CV!) their steam trays were full of fresh looking food. My order was 100% correct (while every other fast food place Ive been to lately screwed my order up...looking at you mcdonalds, taco bell and jack in the box), it was ready ahead of time, and while Ive only eaten a few of the items (dynamite shrimp and the greens side dish), I found them fresh, delicious and Im looking forward to a few more easy meals in the next few days. My guess is the bad reviews came from getting to the restaurant in between lunch and dinner hours or not long before closing. No, no outfit like this is going to make $300 worth of food at 8:00 at night or 3 in the afternoon. Its not cooked to order.I havent eaten at Panda in a while, as there werent any nearby. This one is new and close by. In case anyone is wondering about the sizes, I got 5 large and one small. The small is very small, about the size of a baseball. The large is enough to fill a normal person. A small and a little side like rice or noodles would also make a good meal.Ill definitely go back, especially while I can buy about an 8lb sack of food for $20. Theyre next to mechanics bank and have an entry both in front on the main road and also around behind. They dont show up yet on google street view (restaurant was an empty storefront in the one as of this writing), so if you want to avoid the nutty parking/drivers on town center drive, you can take a right at mechanics bank, a left into the parking lot behind and there is plenty of unused parking back there. Theyre very conservative in the time your order will be ready when ordered online, probably havent adjusted their traffic calculations to the covid lack of customers yet. The order said itd be ready at 2:18, I got there early so I could make sure which entrance to use at 2:05 and my order was hot and ready.

I would give this place 2.5 if I could. If you dont want to read the full review key points:*not kid friendly*good food*really small portions*overpriced*nice staff*visually appealing and relaxingIts a beautiful place but NOT KID FRIENDLY. My 11 month old dropped her bottle on the floor and some milk spilled on the floor. I would have cleaned it up but there were only white cloth napkins and I did want to use it to clean up. The waiter noticed it and made a face. I took it they werent into messes. The food was great. Flavor was great. Better than average chinese food. The plate was decorated beautifully....however..... The portions were small. I have a family of 4. 2 adults a 5 year old and a 11 month old (the 11 month old typically shares a plate with me and doesnt eat much). At any other place we are able to order 3 or 4 entrees and be over stuffed full. We ordered Lemon Chicken... Mongolian Beef .... And Shrimp Feied Rice. We had to seriously ration our food to make sure we all ate enough. And it cost more than a typical place. So good food ... Pay more ... Get less ....And a final thought.... The waiter was nice but never asked us of we wanted drinks but the water was refreshing. It was orange and lemon infused. So it wasnt too bad.

The best Chinese restaurant around! Not only is the food absolutely delicious, but the service & family friendly atmosphere is so welcoming. They always remember us. Please give them your take out business during this quarantine to keep them going until we can get back to normal.

Umi Sushi

So its Christmas day 2020 and Umi Sushi has come through to help make this one of the best in years. As a Mom who is totally exhausted by Christmas morning, (any parent who handles 99% of the Christmas duties understands) making dinner is the last thing I want to do. That is why we always go out. This year we obviously could not, so I FBd Umi in advance and they told me they would be open for Christmas, New years eve and New Years. FYI, they are also open for Mothers Day (wish I had known that sooner). They catered our Christmas with the freshest, most delicious and healthiest serving of sushi Ive ever had in the central California region. Im from the bay area, Ive lived up and down the peninsula and coast and have visited all the great sushi spots, I would put Umi Sushi up against the best of them. A million times better than Mikuni. Ive been coming here for 5 years now and the quality and quantity has always been beyond impressive. And the price can not be beat. We ordered 3 lunch boxes, Beef Teriyaki - soooo good, Mixed shrimp tempura and chicken Katsu (all served with basic california roll, miso soup (really good), rice and green salad. We also got a 3 maki roll special (2 tekka maki and 1 California roll #2) and one 2 maki roll special ( 1 tekka maki and 1 Hamachi roll) and each come with your choice of miso or salad. We also ordered a lion king, red dragon & ichibon roll (all of them are amazing!!!) and 2 extra sides of rice (my son cant get enough of their rice). It came out to a little over $100 with a 20% tip. Really? Amazing! If you love fresh sushi that doesnt need to be covered with sauce to hide that fact that the fish isnt fresh (although the sauced rolls are good too) this is your place.Ive posted pictures of some of the sushi. Sorry I couldnt get all the food, it was devoured as soon as we got home. Needless to say, it was immensely enjoyed :)
Relish Burger Bar

So overall this is a nice place to go. We sat outside and they had live music. TBH it was one guy and he played and sang well, but it was not a band. It was a cool night and the outside was very nice with decent views. The only down side to outside was the loud car noises being right next to a high speed busy road.Food: burgers smelled and tasted great. I personally had the burger that had brie cheese and bacon jam, it was very good. I ordered it medium and it did have some pink. The char on the outside was great. Flavors were great with a good meat to bun ratio. The bacon jam provided a little bacon flavor with a tiny bit of sweetness. That balanced the nutty slightly bitter brie out perfectly. I had a side salad which was giant pieces of lettuce and two slices of cucumber and tomato. Burger was great, side salad was meh at best. Everyone else had fries including one order of garlic fries, the fries were cooked great. Golden, crispy, soft in the middle and no soggyness .All burgers are 1/2 pound according to their menu. They did not look like half pound burgers but they were plenty big. Service was very polite and nice, but very slow. Pricing was a little high but not too bad given the location of EDH. Burgers were in the $16-$20 range. Small menu outside of burgers. My son had the vegetable patty and said it was very good and he would order again. If service was faster and the burgers were $1-$2 cheaper, would have given 5 stars.

So I ordered their O.G. Cottage Pie on Doordash, and I gotta say I was pretty disappointed. The food did taste pretty good, however the presentation and portions were very subpar.I would expect that something like a Shepherds pie, without any structure of its own, would be served in a bowl. I was rather shocked when I saw that the stew was tossed into a generic to go box, where it inevitably all sloshed to one side. This is not the fault of the delivery driver, and this would have almost certainly happened no matter what.Next, I would like to address the portions. In the photo, I have a tea spoon (NOT a table spoon) for reference (Note that the photo is taken after I have only taken a single small bite from the front left corner of the dish). So, you can see that I was only able to get about 8-9 smallish bites from this meal that I paid a whopping $21 (not including delivery fees) for! I dont think its unreasonable to be at least a little miffed when I pay $21, and I get what I would consider to be a kids-sized meal of a dish that is generally associated with large, hearty portions. The only redeeming aspect to this dish was that yes, it did taste very good (thus the 2 stars and not 1), and I bet if I had eaten at the restaurant I would most likely have had a better experience. However, in this age where online and delivery orders are far more prevalent, I think the best way for restaurants to avoid reviews like this is to simply not offer delivery until sloppy orders like this never happen.

Most recent experience 2024*Yes Im here again to celebrate turning 47 again!Ive always had nothing but excellent food and service here; Matt was great and went into great detail to explain each dish available; personally, Matt is one of the best employees Ive encountered on my visits here and I hope he stays as he is not only incredibly well versed on any dish you inquire about, he also makes a perfect filthy Martini that exceeds the others Ive had that I have reviewed. Add to that, he is quite hilarious and engaging with the customers which is always a plus.Anyways, the food (see pics) speaks for itself; the Oysters (3 different types) were fresh & chilled perfectly; the crab was perfect, the Filet carpaccio was perfectly seasoned, sliced the right size and just so amazingly soft Id literally eat that everyday if I could. My scallops were cooked perfectly, which is actually quite hard to do as they are a delicate food. The filet was perfect as usual (Ive reviewed this place previously in 2023) and one of the main reasons I come here, as this restaurant is really the only place that I prefer a filet over my own cooking one at home. The mushroom saute had a mix of seasonings that went well; the spinach and cheese dish was a nice break from the norm, definitely a comfort food and would be great with steak or chicken.Matt was again so nice and brought out this amazing fig dessert that was a perfect palatable finish to such an amazing dinner with my amazing friendMatt also brought me out my favorite, fresh berries with whip cream to celebrate my 47th birthday which Ive been consistently celebrating for a few weeks now?Really, if you want amazing food and impeccable service by a staff that is very engaging and customer oriented, I cannot recommend this place enough; the filet alone is a reason to come here.2023 review*Absolutely love being here; the filet is cooked perfectly & the dirty Martini's are super dirty?Special occasion with special friends!
