Veggie Lee Restaurant
1169 W A St, Hayward, CA 94541, United States
It's not often I can go to a restaurant and order everything on the menu. I usually have to scan the menu for something plant-based or at least pescatarian. At Veggie Lee, a vegan Chinese restaurant, the sky's the limit. The restaurant also accommodates the practice of some Buddhists who eschew garlic and onions. Those ingredients are not included in any of Veggie Lee's dishes and that fact is clearly marked on the menus.I have ordered Veggie Lee offerings through delivery service many times. I have only eaten in the restaurant twice. On this visit, I ordered from the lunch menu. My rating is more a reflection of the limited wheelchair access within the restaurant than the food or the service. My dining partner and I ordered pot stickers as an appetizer. The filling was wonderfully textured and flavorful. The outer shell was soft and crisp. I could have made a meal of potstickers and may do so in the future. We had hot tea with the meal and I heartily recommend the citron honey tea, a cold drink I've had with many Veggie Lee delivery orders. My entree was preceded by hot and sour soup. The spicy soup with small tofu chunks was an unexpected delight and prepared my palate for the entree, vegan sesame chicken.I ordered the vegan chicken with brown rice. It was so tasty. The flavor and texture made me want to be more adventurous and try more items on Veggie Lee's menu in the future. The sesame chicken entree came with broccoli. My years of plant-based eating have led me beyond broccoli. It was well-prepared, but I'm not in love with broccoli any more. Sorry, broccoli. It's me, not you. We also ordered green beans. The crispy green beans were packed with flavor, but were salty in spots. The disappointing part of my dining experience occurred when I had to use the restroom. The spaces between tables and booths are narrow. As long as waitstaff wasn't taking someone's order, I could clear the pathways in a small manual wheelchair. The barriers started when I left the dining area and approached the hallway to the restrooms. There were high chairs for children stacked at the beginning of the hallway. I could barely scrape (and I did scrape) by. With a larger wheelchair or mobility device, I wouldn't have been able to access the restroom without asking for help. Asking for help to the restroom is not something adults enjoy doing. The sink in the ladies room is far, far away from the counter edge. I had to lean far, far forward to reach it. That isn't something I can do all the time. The thought of having to leave the restroom without washing my hands is not a good thought. My recommendations to the restaurant to improve accessibility (because I'd like to come back) are to 1) consider replacing the sink and counter with something that isn't set so far back or, at least, give customers the option of using hand sanitizer in an accessible location within the restroom; 2) consider replacing restroom doors with ones that aren't so heavy; and 3) please, please, please move the high chairs.
China Best Restaurant
University Plaza, 26775 Hayward Blvd, Hayward, CA 94542, United States
China Best has been our #1 go-to Chinese restaurant as long as we have lived in Hayward. There is not a single dish of disappointment, but our absolute favorites are: walnut prawn, combination chow fun, salt & pepper pork, and Mongolian beef. Last night we had friends over, so we picked up: peking spare rib (aka sweet and sour pork ribs), eggplant and tofu in garlic sauce, combination pan fried noodle, and fish fillet in black bean sauce. Its making me hungry again writing this post. The owner is an absolute sweetheart. When I first started going to the restaurant, I was pregnant with my second child and made extra requests like not adding any salt to salt &pepper pork... now I think about it thats ridiculous but she made it happen for me with always a smile on her face. Its a family-fun restaurant that can be trusted by local residents.
Tins Teapot Bistro
320 Jackson St, Hayward, CA 94544, United States
Tins Teapot is my favorite Chinese restaurant in Hayward. My husband and I come here for dim sum or Cantonese dinners every week, and we never tire of it.Im a vegan Chinese-American, so its harder for me to find a really good Cantonese restaurant with plenty of vegetarian menu items. I love their Hong Kong style chow mein which comes with lots of Chinese veggies and veg-friendly gravy. For dim sum, I get the vegetarian dumplings, green onion pancakes, tofu dishes, Chinese donuts wrapped with rice noodles or the Buddhas delight version with mixed mushrooms.I am particularly impressed with the high quality, more expensive Asian vegetables they use as opposed to other restaurants just using carrots, celery and American brocolli. In their veggie noodles, they put in sweet snow peas and mushroom dishes have exotic mushrooms and white fungus.I am impressed that Tins Teapot has the most diverse clientele Ive ever seen at an authentic Catonese restaurant. All are truly welcome and I appreciate the efficient and good service!
Hong Kong Seafood Restaurant
661 W Tennyson Rd, Hayward, CA 94544, United States
Ive eaten here a few times. The food has mostly been ok and sometimes like today not ok.I ordered chicken chow mein. But the chicken has such an off taste I cant eat it.I dont mean off as in spoiled. My guess is that because its a seafood restaurant, they cook it in the same pans as seafood, and it smothers the chicken in seafood flavor (I HATE seafood). Or maybe its something else. But it has just a horrible taste and Im throwing it out. There are better Chinese restaurants all over nearby. My favorites are both at Foothill and A, Sunflower 2 and Chefs Experience. Tin Fu on Harder is decent.

Stopped by here to eat the lunch special. Havent eaten here since the beginning of the pandemic. Just dont get around to this part of Hayward anymore. Its still a little hole in the wall (maybe 10-tables?).I had the garlic prawns with fried rice and an egg roll. You also get a cup (filled, for a change) of hot/sour soup. The soup was excellent and the garlic prawns were delicious. The fried rice was very good. The plate was full with food. If youre hungry, come here. I normally finish most/all lunch specials plates. I just barely finished it.While I have had better chinese food (for lunches), I have never had more food for lunch. The portions are very generous. Service was good too (I ate in). This place is also extremely reasonably priced too. Most luncheon specials are $9.28 each dish (fish/seafood is $9.98). The whole menu is very inexpensive. I can see taking a family here and not spending more than $30 for lots of food (most dishes are less than $12). I really gave 5-stars because the food was good and the pricing excellent. Most chinese restaurants have raised prices exponentially. These folks, not so much. I am very impressed they have held the line on prices and the food is still good. You just cannot beat the value proposition here.Ill be back. This will be perpetually on my to do list for chinese food.Edit: ate here again (luncheon special)/12/11/22. Had same dish as previous. While food was OK, portions have gotten smaller. I finished my plate quickly. Hot/sour soup was warm/temp. not hot. It also tasted watered down. Fried rice tasted old. I got 6/six prawns this time (got 9 previously). I suspect this place is now trying to maximize profits, so they are making portions smaller. Which is fine and it justifies the pricing. They have another waitress (I wasnt sure she understood english?). Shes borderline for service but Ill bet she is new. Ill still return but I adjusted to 4-stars (from 5) because this is a step-back from my previous visit. Maybe they had a bad day/Sunday?EDIT - showed up on NYE-day at 3pm, with the doors open and the illuminated open sign on; sat down and then was promptly greeted and told they were closed [with no further explanation or apologies]. So, I stood up, said OK and walked out. Probably, never to return..........

Its not your traditional Chinese restaurant with the food is always fresh and good. There are definitely specific times when its crowded in the line is out the door but thats when customers know that theyre pumping out really fresh food thats nice and hot.
Great River Chinese Restaurant hayward CA foothill
22218 Foothill Blvd #2711, Hayward, CA 94541, United States
Hello I'm a YouTuber and I came in to try the food for the first time. I ordered the Mongolian beef which was a 10/10 we also ordered the bbq pork fried rice and fried chicken wings which were fried in a fish like batter and the rice was fried to perfection. However we did order one dish that was chicken and chowmein but we were giving a dish called pan fried noodles witch had thinly sliced chicken that looked undercooked the noodles were fried so they were crunchy and the sauce was very bland and it was a slimy sauce. We asked the lady if we can please exchange the dish as it was wrong and she told us no we can't that we can order something else or get something else and pay half for the dish. Even though we did not touch the dish usually I'd get really upset because places should fix there mistakes and not lie or try to get more money from you witch was awful. However we still tried it to make the video and the only thing we were disappointed in was the effort that was not made to make things correct. This place would have gotten a 5 star rating however if you don't order correctly you're stuck with that dish or if they make a mistake they will not fix it . I give the food a 6/10 service 4/10. Mabe will try again
Frannies Restaurant
219 Harder Rd, Hayward, CA 94544, United States
This was a great experience! We were at a loss after another Chinese restaurant in the area was closed, so we quickly looked at Frannies online and made our way over! The food was hot well seasoned and the portions were large. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for good Chinese food.
Elite Dumpling
24036 Hesperian Blvd, Hayward, CA 94545, United States
One great Chinese restaurant!. This is actually one of my very favorite restaurants I frequent whenever I crave Chinese food. Its tucked away inside of a strip mall by HesperianBlvd. & Winton ave. in Hayward CA. They have a whole bunch of good tasting foods including their daily specials that comes with a small bowl of hot soup and a piece ofspring roll (that is if you eat there but everythings to go now due to the return of the 2nd wave of this awful pandemic). They carry all the typical Chinese recipes that youve alreadyknown and love. The only caveat about this place is that you need to put an order with minimum amount of order costing at least $20.00 (if you wanted to use your Debit /Creditcard for some unknown reason why which is really not convenient to the customer if you ask me). But its a highly recommended Chinese restaurant regardless and a must try if you happen to be in the Winton Avenue district in Hayward CA.
