Restaurant large, plenty of parking, Every time I visit my grandson, he insists we eat here. {he is only six} What the heck, grandparents are allowed to spoil their grandchildren.

Usually have good experiences here. Today we placed an online order. I know they're busy so we showed up 20 minutes after the order was supposed to be ready and it still wasn't ready. When we checked the order they left out half of one of the entrees, and gave us 3 rangoons when we ordered 12. We went back in to tell them that the order was wrong and the girl working the register asked us if we need 7 rangoons. We told her we needed 9, because we paid for 12 and got 3. The girl hesitated and looked towards her manager. He said asked us what we needed and we repeated what we had paid for. He looked at the girl and just nodded as if she was allowed to give us what we had already paid for. When we got home we noticed they still shorted us 3 rangoons. There was no silverware or sauces either. All the stickers on the food showed exactly what we had ordered and they are the ones who royally messed up, yet were acting like we were trying to scam them or something. Terrible customer service. Food was subpar. Rice wasn't even cooked all the way.
China Gourmet

Attention wine lovers! Huh? Wine in a Chinese restaurant? Yep, especially curated to go with Jacks excellent Chinese food. Among the whites: 21 Rieslings, Gruner Veltliners, Alsatian whites, Chenin Blanc, Chardonnays (including Bourgogne Blanc), sparkling, and rosés. Among the reds: Oregon and Santa Lucia Highlands Pinots, Red Burgundy (Volnay), Cru Beaujolais (Chénas), as well as Cabernets, Cab blends, Syrahs, and Zins if you prefer to go bigger. Our favorite dishes include the Pepper-Salt Spiced Prawns, the Chow Fun Dry Sautéed Noodles with beef (Chinese comfort food), Roast Duck, and Baby Book Choy with Chinese Black Mushrooms. The restaurant is nicely decorated with comfortable seating, the service is attentive, and Jack is a welcoming host. We’re local and dine here often. Update June 2022: My wife and just ate dinner once again at China Gourmet. The food and wine were excellent, as always. I note that there is a recent review that begins, “Oh god. So nasty.” Of course, we all have different tastes and experiences, but I would point out that the vast majority of reviews for China Gourmet are overwhelmingly positive. And the wine list is still outstanding!

I want to thank the Paso Robles Country Club for really going above and beyond for making my wedding day so special. To Amy (venue/wedding coordinator) she is absolutely amazing, a beautiful person inside and out who genuinely cares about your day. My uncle had passed away the day before my wedding, and I was blown away with the amount of love and support I was shown. I was so worried and stressed to tell them I wont be having my wedding. They werent concerned one bit about me giving them the news, they werent concerned about them losing out on an event they could have had. They were so understanding, and told me to reach out to them when I was ready to pick another date and if they had to move some things around, they would. I was blown away. Thank you so much to both Scott and Amy for being there every step of the way. Im so grateful and so lucky to have had my wedding here. It was absolutely beautiful, communication was so easy, received so much help, so much advice. The garden area was gorgeous, so green, with so many plants, vibrant colors between the trees, plants and fencing, fitting 150 seats easily. Bridal suite was to die for! So much space for you and the girls to get ready. So chic so rustic, modern so perfect! Huge vanity, huge mirrors, fridge, counter space, couch, closet, room, restroom, 2 oversized sink vanity, pub table area. No matter where youre standing in the suite, youll capture so many great photos! Club room and veranda- absolutely stunning. You get both the indoor and outdoor experience with these two attached next to each other and better yet the view of the golf course, palm trees, ponds. They also did my catering- (BBQ) All everyone talked about for weeks after my wedding was the food- which is so rare at weddings!!!!! Food was to die for. We did buffet style. And this was definitely the highlight of most everyones night!!! They did an amazing job with food presentation and serving, that I want to have all my parties here! Lol. You truly get so much more than what you pay for. So much more than what you would get if you booked elsewhere. Pricing is so reasonable and affordable that you can do SO much! I cant thank them enough for everything. If you are considering having a wedding here, you will not regret it! They have an amazing staff there, so friendly, so honest, so great, it really is about YOU there! Thank you so much!

Original review in 2019:Delicious pizza! I get the gluten free. And the gelato is DELICIOUS, too! Portions are small, though. They provide little spoons, to make it last longer.Update in Dec 2021:We went here recently, and our experience wasnt as great, as in the past. There prices seemed to have increased. They are high! It would make more sense to charge such prices, if it was a regular sit-down restaurant, but it is not. They only bring you your pizza, they dont actually serve the tables and bring drinks, etc.My pizza was not cut all the way to the middle, so I had to tear every slice with my hands, and being gluten free, it did not hold up well to tearing. The tables are packed in, so there is not a lot of room to walk over to the soda machine, to get your drink. You kind of have to walk through the maze of tables, if theres someone in the way of the small walkway. Perhaps they have so many tables, because it gets very busy and packed in there. But that tells me that they should probably be in a bigger space/building.The water from the soda machine tasted really strong like chlorine! And we could even taste it in the soda/fountain drinks. Also, in the womens restroom, there are only two stalls, and one of them was out of order. And there is a large space between the handicap stall that is open, to where you could see out and people could see you inside, if they were looking.I hope they take a look at this review, and make some changes. This has been a favorite of ours, for some time, but not so much now.
Thai BBQ & combo
630 1st St STE B, Paso Robles, CA 93446, United States
This place is a hit or miss when it comes to food. Sometimes the food is really good and other times it is just okay. The drunken noodles the first time I had them were so good, a very memorable dish. As was the Chili Basil, which was so good and super flavorful. Then I go back thinking I found another good Thai restaurant, but I was wrong. This time it wasnt that good at all. The great expectations quickly plummeted with the first bite.I got the Mongolian Beef, and it was so salty, that I felt like I needed to go on dialysis afterwards. The drunken noodles this time around had no flavor whatsoever. It is like they didnt care that day when making food, which is sad.
Basil Thai Restaurant
828 11th St, Paso Robles, CA 93446, United States
We stopped in paso Robles for dinner at Basil Thai. Food was mostly disappointing. Almost everything is overpriced - a few more dollars more than most Thai restaurants in SF and NYC. We ordered $14 Seafood Tom yum soup, all we could find for seafood was baby squids and one or two small scallops and two mussels...not that awful for fish ingredients, except that the broth was too sweet, which ruined it. Their $16 BBQ chicken was way dry and a day or two old. Pretty disappointing. Only dishes I liked here were green papaya salad and tiger cry was ok to order too, so kudos to Judy for these good dishes. Judy was not present this evening. We like the people and most food in Paso Robles, but we will not come back to basil Thai. Still tipped the waitress-manager a good karma 15% and shouldve comped us back 50% on just the old chicken out of courtesy. She was fine and friendly as a waitress until we pointed out the chicken issue and she basically responded with a shove off and smile. Crappy attitude for this likely seasoned pro running the place that night. Youre welcome for the courtesy tip and thanks for doing a good job serving us until the surprise pushback on the bad chicken. Why? Anyway, for sure Judy and her capable kitchen should cut out the overuse of sugars/sweeteners based on our review and others reviews, and should cease serving these old dry chickens.
Deeds Bar & Grill

DEED'S BAR AND GRILLSeveral times a year our couples golf group drive up from Arroyo Grande to play golf and have lunch. Last week we invited a new couple to our group and raved about the golf course and the great restaurant. After playing golf, we entered the restaurant and asked for a table of 8 (4 couples). I asked the Manager if separate checks would be an option. To my embarrassment, the Manager immediately said “no, for a table of 8 we only accept three credit cards or cash with one bill.” We then asked the waitress and she looked rather shyly and said, “I'll have to ask the Manager.” In the past, this was not an issue and we always had competent, willing staff who would give each couple a bill and we would always, in turn, give a hefty tip. By the way, it's not like the restaurant was super busy; otherwise, that could have/would have been an excuse. I am not sure why 3 credit cards with one bill as opposed to 4 credits cards with 4 bills would have been such an inconvenience—you have a capable staff. In fact, it took us quite a while to figure out the bill what with some having drinks and some not having drinks—you know how that goes!) In the end, we all just put in the same amount (using cash only!). No one in the group was happy about this new arrangement. Sadly, next time, we may consider going into town for our luncheon and by-pass Deeds altogether.
