Super Wok Chinese Restaurant
5418 Reseda Blvd, Tarzana, CA 91356, United States
Super Wok is a great Chinese restaurant in the valley. The food is tasty with less salt than most Chinese restaurants, which leave you waking up at night thirsty. They even include salt-free and healthy dishes. Portion sizes are large and include rice. We ordered egg rolls (which were crispy), Kung Pao chicken (spicy, but not hot) and beef chop suey (crispy vegetables and slices of beef). Everything was cooked perfectly, flavorful, and not over salted. We had a plate of leftovers. The interior is nicely decorated and very spacious and service was friendly and attentive. This will be our go-to restaurant for Chinese food from now on.
Szechuwan Garden
18900 Ventura Blvd, Tarzana, CA 91356, United States
I moved out to Los Angeles from New York over a year ago and since then I have been trying to find a Chinese restaurant that compares to the ones I love in New York and finally I have, Szechuwan Garden. I had a wonderful experience here and I already cant wait to go back. The restaurant is very nice inside, I adored the peaceful vibes and gorgeous decor. The service was very good and the food was absolutely delicious. My party and I all ordered the lunch special (choice of soup or salad, an egg roll, choice of rice, and an entrée) and every one of us was extremely happy with our food. The crispy noodles that we were served when we sat down were so good that we asked for more. The egg flower soup I had was outstanding and I am sad that I am not eating it right now. The chicken with soft noodles was so plentiful and tasty that I took it home and ate the rest for dinner. I cant recommend this restaurant enough!

VIPs Cafe
18345 Ventura Blvd, Tarzana, CA 91356, United States
VIP's cafe is welcoming, serving classic staple food with a bang for your buck. Here's the break down.Environment:As mentioned, very welcoming with a mom and pop diner vibe. The waiters and waitresses will fix you up, if any trouble comes when deciding what to order. The interior has recently (couple years now) been refurbished, offering a nice mid century blend. There are plenty of seats whether it be dining at the counter, with two people, four people, or a party of 6+. Lastly, there tables situated in the patio, facing Ventura Blvd, with shade offered.Food & Drinks:They offer a vast menu for food and drinks, whether it be for breakfast, brunch, or lunch. You can't go wrong with the pancakes, French toast, and staple breakfast options. The burgers are standard sized, I believe their pattys blended by VIP's. Lastly, it's a great spot to sip on some mimosas, thank me later.Overall:VIP's is a classic spot to go to whether it be a lunch break, time alone, or gathering with friends and family. The interior elicits mid century dining (furniture). A well cleaned restaurant with hospitable workers and owners. The food is well portioned, and honestly for the price it is a bang for your buck. The food isn't extraordinary, but rather nostalgic and filling, it's not meant to be a Michelin oriented plate or experience. Example, the cheeseburger ($13) comes with two sides, whether you want onion rings, coleslaw (try this one out, imagine taking some to go and putting it on some bbq), fries, or some of their other side options. If you've read up to this point, I always like to leave a bit of crumbs to the readers. Free validation for the parking lot, with vast amount of parking. Coffee comes with free refills. Tons of famous people come to this cafe, just take a look at their walls with pictures of such people.
Garden Wok

Poke Tiki - Tarzana
18509 Ventura Blvd, Tarzana, CA 91356, United States
I've been eating here at Poke Tiki consistently since it opened years ago. Mainly due to how close and convenient it is when visiting my parents. The portions here are reasonable and will likely leave you sated. Ordering a large bowl let's you choose 4 generous scoops of protein, medium 3, small 2 etc. I usually go with the large. The quality of fish is decent, but I can think of an array of poke/sushi restaurants in the Valley with much better fish. My two favorites here are the tuna and albacore.Poke Tiki has just the right amount of variety when it comes to their toppings. They've even been adding new ones over time. My hope is that they eventually add more sauces as they are quite limited and rather one-note.Regarding pricing. A large bowl used to cost $16.95 and now costs $19.50. All other bowls has seen this $2.55 increase. Other Poke Tiki locations give you an extra scoop of protein (large - 5 scoops instead of 4), so I don't see why the price has increased here yet you don't get more protein? The restaurant itself is small and a similar set up to a Chipotle or Subway. Due to Covid, there is is still no indoor dinning, only outdoor. Keep that in mind if you choose to eat there.I'm still a huge fan of Poke Tiki and will continue to go here. The restaurants near it in this strip mall usually go out of business after 1 year, but Poke Tiki has managed to remain there for years, which is a testament to its consistency. I only wish they would add some more variety in sauces, more quality in fish and stop increasing prices, but that seems like a tall order.
Apey Kade Restaurant
19662 Ventura Blvd, Tarzana, CA 91356, United States
I had been wanting to try this place for a long time, and Im so happy I finally got to. Id never had Sri Lankan food, and it was different from anything Ive ever had before. The flavors are indescribable, and incredible. Everything tasted fresh. My expectations were high, and they were still exceeded by a marathon. I dont have the words to describe how stunning the food was. I had the vegetable hopper. It was a plate of noodles and a spicy vegetable salad (? Im not sure what it would be called but it was good), with three side dishes to put on the noodles- a coconut soup, a green-bean vegetable dish, and a squash curry. I went with my dad, and he ordered the same as I did, but his came with a dahl- like food instead of squash. I think its really cool how you can order the same thing and still get some variation, while also being able to have confidence that everything is delicious- my dad and I shared our side dishes, so I can confirm that the dahl was amazing. The people running the restaurant were helpful and kind, and the inside of the restaurant while small was impeccably clean. The food was quite spicy, which I loved, but if you dont like spicy food you might not like it as much. The spice is different from other spicy foods that Ive had, though, so if theres just a particular brand of spice that you dislike, you should still give this a try. Also, its a vegetarian-friendly place, which is always lovely to find.
Mon Japanese Restaurant
19463 Ventura Blvd, Tarzana, CA 91356, United States
I *really* wanted Ramen for my birthday dinner. Its been cold and windy out and I just wanted something light. After ruling out a few places I found this restaurant. My boyfriend was kind enough to order and pick up take out for us.He said that this place was really cute and looked like it would be a good place to go back to for date night some time. He also said that since it was a weeknight he had no issues with parking but could see it turning into a nightmare on nights that were busy. That said - I ordered the Tokyo Ramen and he ordered the Mon Original Ramen. Funny enough, when I tasted mine I didnt really like it (Tokyo Ramen has seaweed and it was throwing me off). So we switched right away and were both very happy! We both got spice level 1 and I found it to be the perfect burn I was looking for.I cant wait to go to the restaurant some day to try other things on their menu. Im really happy I found this place!
Beas Bakery
18450 Clark St, Tarzana, CA 91356, United States
Update January 5, 2024. Baked goods are still great as ever. The owner must have noted some reviews about service. It's improved. It's still annoying when they're busy and 2-3 employees are chilling and chatting. Then after a few minutes they regain awareness and ask if anyone needs help. It's hard to not like this classic bakery tho.Damn. I feel for the owner. I know they can't be on scene at all times, but if they were they wouldn't miss out on sales. With this economy it's tough to find help and the help knows it and carries that IDGAF swagger. In their minds the customer is the enemy. If you can get a better job get it. Why sabotage a legit iconic business like Bea's? They are heartless thieves basically stealing a paycheck and costing the owner $.$$. Every little bit counts and they don't get it that there's a lot of options- including skipping pastries all together. But, the snot nosed help doesn't pay the rent every month so they don't care even a bit. And that's probably why I was alone in a bakery on a Sunday morning. And with one customer, me, and 3 idle employees, none of them with the energy or will to ring up a $5 pastry that costs the owner $0.18 in materials. Damn. I feel for the owner.
Pho So 1
19548 Ventura Blvd, Tarzana, CA 91356, United States
Extremely upset, I ordered take out last night (writing this today because I didn't have time to yesterday) for my family and I. My family had sent me to go order and bring food home for all of us. I had never had pho before cause it never really interested me but I thought to give it a shot yesterday. I asked the guy at the front whats something they recommended and he said the beef pho that also came with another meet but I couldn't fully hear what he was saying because I'm hard of hearing. Anyway, now I have my food and go home and time for dinner right? When I got my bowl I opened it and there was a bag of RAW cold meat INSIDE my bowl with COOKED meat. How is that okay??? Doesn't that violate some kind of health code?! There was literally a bag of raw meat touching my noodles and everything. I don't know what that bag has touched. I couldn't believe my eyes. I called the restaurant to ask what is that and they said I have to cook it myself at home. What is the point of ordering take out if you end up having to cook something??? What if I was on the go and was going to eat in the car, how would I be able to cook that? So unbelievable. The meat that was cooked was dry and cold. Don't come here.
