Ami Sushi
755 Arnele Ave, El Cajon, CA 92020, United States
I have tried food from this place before multiple times and all I can say is that it is worth ordering and dining inside the restaurant, dont do takeout the quality is poor. I did take out and immediately started to eat it in my car. I got the Philadelphia roll and it wasnt cold at all, it was barely room temp. Fresh sushi should be cold always and not warm or even lukewarm because it can cause illness. The fish from the roll was kinda chewy and tough even though it looked nice presentation wise. When I had it inside the restaurant it was very delicous and cold idk why takeout has poorer quality. I ordered the miso soup and it was bland. It was salty of course but it didnt taste like anything else. There wasnt enough tofu pieces in it. I only had like 2 tiny pieces of tofu and the rest seaweed which tasted fine. I didnt taste the paste much at all. It needs more flavor. I also ordered unsweetened iced green tea, I was hoping for it to taste like green tea but nope. It just tasted like regular water. I didnt taste green tea at all. It was colored so I know its iced green tea but there was no flavor of it at all. How sad. I also had the green tea mochi icecream ball and weirdly enough this one tasted very strong but it didnt taste like green tea or macha, it tasted very perfumey. Howcome this one has a very strong flavor but the unsweetened green iced tea had no flavor? I wish this place knew how to make green tea flavored items and be consistent.

Probably the best Gluten free(and vegan) restaurant we have ever been to.We are no vegan but we cannot eat gluten. We are also Japanese family. We didn’t know what to expect but this place surprised us completely. Their fish taco(that’s not made of fish) is incredible. We will come back next time we travel to San Diego

The bowls are all the same size just with different proportions served do to the size you choose I think he said on the proteins. I also grabbed there brown sugar tapioca drink. my goodness this food was Sooooo good and tasted so fresh. ? us family of 6 loved it. We tend to buy one thing to taste and we all aproved. Even my 13 month old ?Place is also very clean. I dod spend about 26 dlls rounding it up. I did add several extras. Okay sushi, presentation lacking, not having a Japanese Sushi Master very apparent.. More of a sports bar feel than Sushi Restaurant

While the food was good in taste, the customer service on the other hand was atrocious. After placing my order and paying I was not given a receipt. They also forgot an item on my order and when confronted they just told me I didnt order it. Then when I asked them to show me my receipt they told me they couldnt find it. Then while eating my food one of the Ladies working at the establishment said she found my reciept. When it was given to me it was in pieces and hastly taped together. So in short I would not expect much in terms of customer service when coming to this establishment.

Ive only ordered takeout from here, and never ordered in-house, but I can say that the service here is pretty fast and the staff is nice and pretty chill! Ive tried both the Seoul bowl (when I want something spicy) and the Tokyo bowl (when I want something more mild) and love, love, love both of them (cant wait to try more!) My mom ADORES their TJ bowl (which is medium spicy!) We eat here when we have doubts about what we want for dinner, so you can safely say itll never fail you! Get the 1/3 pound bowl of you want a good-sized meal, but of youre a voracious eater or are famished, get the 1/2 pound bowl. You wont be disappointed! I also appreciate that if you dont want to order a pre-formatted bowl, you can build your own. Ordering online is easy!Tip: when you do it through Clover, you get points; however the options to create your own bowl and ordering a pre-formatted bowl are kinda mashed together, so if you picked a pre-formatted bowl, dont add any toppings that werent included in it. One of the staff members kindly pointed this out to me when I made this mistake, and they did their best to make the modifications I wanted. If you order through Google (Postmates) and not Clover, this issue isnt present.Overall, A++, Pokedon! ?

This is a review of mine and my friend's horrifying experience at Tappi's Cafe located in San Diego, CA. Please note that we are two African American women in our early 20's. The both of us found 2 thick black pieces of hair in our food. Which we politely notified our waitress about and requested our meals be comped our waitress then responded “of course I'm very sorry about that ladies have a great day” she then took the unsanitary meals away. Being that she bid us farewell we gathered our items and left a tip for her troubles and proceeded to exit the establishment. Upon getting into our car a large angry man “whom we had no previous interaction with” chased behinds us screaming we did not pay for our bill. Then proceeds to argue with us claiming the waitress never told us that our meal was comped. Because we had no problem paying for the food we went back inside to do so and get clarification about why our waitress told us it was comped. He began to rant, scream, and belittle us about why it made no sense that our entire bill would be comped at that point we requested to speak to our waitress and he dismissed us and continue to request payment. We paid for the meals that weren't affected and again asked to speak to our waitress. The waitress came out and confirmed that she said our entire order was comped and we were good to go. The angry man then responded, manipulating her words saying that she only meant the unsatisfactory meals were to be comped. We continued to go back and forth with him about the way he followed us out of the establishment, embarrassing and intimidating us. There was never an issue with paying for the food but we were told our meals were comped so there was no need for him to scream at us instead of consulting his waitress about why she told us the meal was comped before getting his approval. After getting us to a justifiable point of confusion and irritation with his actions, he continuously told us to calm down and watch our language and explained that it made no sense for them to comp our entire meal. To end the interaction, he said that he'd refund us our money but we were no longer welcomed in the establishment which was completely fine. After being treated like that we would never step foot in an establishment that treats its customers like that, especially customers of color during these sensitive times. Overall the interaction with this rude, angry, perturbed man screamed racism and we highly recommend that you save your money and dine elsewhere, especially people of color!

Kuro Sushi

I really want this place to succeed, but i need to give my honest opinion as well. For the most part, this place is overall great. The atmosphere is awesome and the staff is amazing as well. The food tasted fine, but overall the texture of the food is just wrong. My pork tonkotsu ramen came with large, rough chopped, hard vegetables such as cabbage, broccoli, carrots, also what i think was zucchini. That itself ruin the experience of eatting the ramen. not to mention the pork they put in was a lean cut as opposed to a fatty pork belly. Dont get me wrong the soup and the noodles were on point. The other thing i have a complaint I had was my sushi. The rice was mushy as if it was cooked with too much water. My rolls fell apart as i picked them up. Heck, my crunchy roll didnt have a crunch to it. Overall it tasted fine, but for the pricing im paying, i expect a higher standard.again a good place to go to! if this place ensures their rice quality and rethinks the veggies they put into their ramen, they will be heads and shoulder above the competition in this area.oh notable things! their seaweed salad is amazing and their cucumber salad as well.

The Purple Mint Vegan Bistro

I was super excited to try this place out and I really appreciate the options they offer. It is cool to see a vegan Asian food place as I dont see these often. I looked into the place a lot before going and was excited that they have a men online as well as pictures/reviews of their food. The food was good but I was very disappointed by the service at the restaurant. We called in a pick up order and they did not tell us the price over the phone. We should have prodded but the guy hung up very quickly. They also did not tell us that we would be up-charged for brown rice. When we got to the restaurant, I was surprised by the charge because the prices didnt match what I had seen on their website. They told me that their prices had changed quite a while ago (so why not update the website quite a while ago?!) and that brown rice was an additional charge which is in the menu and online. I have searched online extensively and have not found anywhere that they add a charge for brown rice. This would have been totally fine with me if they had mentioned it but this in addition to ALL of their prices being wrong online is quite frustrating. I would have changed my order had I known that the prices online were incorrect. They were very dismissive in the restaurant and clearly not willing to admit any fault on behalf of the restaurant. I have reached out to the restaurant about this but have not heard anything back. I think others should know to be wary of this place and definitely check that you are being charged correctly.Update 8/28: no one has contacted me back from this restaurant regarding my experience and communication with the staff. Certainly wouldn't recommend going here when they can't bother to reply to customers who have been wronged.
