Sushi Ai

In the plaza by the movie theater. One of the people behind the counter is rude, no doubt. Weve been twice and its not that shes just having a bad day.Check out the whiteboard by the register for specials. For prices and special rolls, theres a folding paper menu on the counter by the register. They have sushi, udon, gyoza (pork and chicken mix, here), tempura chicken cutlets, chicken teriyaki miso soup... Sapporo, sakes, fountain drinks, and more. The flavor is comparable to other Japanese restaurants Ive tried in California. The tea is bag tea, though, not a house/family blend. This little place gets busy quick and theres only one register, so come early before the dinner rush. The ordering system is counter style, but then youre through the line youre free to select a table. Our order came out in less than 10 minutes, but we showed up right before the rush (set your expectations realistically). They have had to raise prices due to covid, unfortunately. But they still get busy and have some limited seating out front thanks to the spacious plaza.

Surprisingly good Korean food for a Japanese restaurant. The new owners are Korean I think. Food was on the pricier side, but worth it in my opinion.

Sushi Teri
5746 Calle Real, Goleta, CA 93117, United States
Bustling local family-owned restaurant serving up fresh sushi and a variety of Japanese food dishes in a large tastefully decorated space. We love the spicy edamame and miso soup as starters, followed by the Linden, Red Dragon and Monkey sushi rolls. The sushi is always fresh, delicately delicious and layered with flavor. This is our favorite Japanese restaurant in all of Santa Barbara County.

Santa Barbara Fish Market Goleta Market & Resta...

When I first noticed that SB Fish Market not only an outpost, but also a restaurant in Goleta, I was stoked! Now I no longer have to drive to the marina, look for parking and wait in a line of tourists for the same delicious, fresh seafood. The inside of the store had a plethora of products: canned items (fancy caviar, pickles, olives, etc), condiments and sauces (including many Asian-specific items), cold beverages, freshly prepared to-go items (seaweed salad, uni, slaws, sashimi and more). If youre in a hurry while on a lunch break, grab a drink, bag of chips and a prepackaged meal, and youre on your way! There is also a glass display stuffed with local and non-local seafood selections. Fish fillets, Channel Island Uni, shrimp, crab, oysters, scallops, clams, squid and everything in between! I encourage you to buy any and all things that are marked as local. Support our local, hardworking seafarers! Now on to the restaurant:I wish I could give 5 stars but theyre new and have some hiccups to work out. There are two lines (though it is not clear): one for the restaurant and another for the fish counter. Unfortunately the space is small so they end up running into one another. Staff was very friendly, patient and willing to answer questions. The outdoor patio has many tables yet limited space. Everyone is squeezed together like canned sardines. The staff who delivers the food can barely fit in between the tables and chairs. As for our food:It could have been better... And I suppose I should have ordered the Fish n Chips that looked spectacular. My partner ordered the Tuna Melt which didnt have cheese--a bit odd to be considered a melt. We also thought it would have been better with a slice of tomato. The tuna definitely was fresh and not from a can, so that was pleasant surprise. I had the Oregon Bay Shrimp Rolls which were decent but very plain in flavor. Luckily there was a bottle of mayonnaise so I made the shrimp into a little shrimp salad and then it was much better. Perhaps they should season the shrimp better. The brioche bread was nicely grilled, however, the Caesar Salad wedge was underwhelming. All in all, Unid to check this place out! I hope to give the restaurant another try after some time.

Nikka Ramen
5701 Calle Real, Goleta, CA 93117, United States
A must go if you’re in the area. My family and I have been searching for an authentic Japanese restaurant, this is the closest to authentic. The gyozas are amazing! Their ramen is very reminiscent of the ramen we used to eat in Japan. Having lived in Japan, we have high expectations for our ramen and this place did not disappoint. Highly recommend you give this place a try. We went on a weekday for dinner and the place was pretty busy. They seem to be very popular in the area.

Nikka Fish Market & Grill
5722 Calle Real, Goleta, CA 93117, United States
Excellent food. Everything was delicious, fresh and hot. You order at counter, pay, then food & drinks come to you. It helps to know what you want if you're in a pinch for time, not our situation while on vacation. Ordered 1/2 dozen of raw oysters on half shell, they were delicious. Tasted like Hama hama's for sure, the distinct mellon finish and they were very fresh. We had calamari as an appetizer, personally I'm not a fan of the giant rings & prefer the smaller bodied squid, which are more tender & not stringy. Aside from that, the shrimp salad my wife ordered was excellent, my ahi Tuna sandwich was excellent and the fish and chips.... well, how can you mess that up. I'd go back, the cioppino looked amazing & I want to try it.

Choppa Poke
7000 Hollister Ave #102, Goleta, CA 93117, United States
This place used to be amazing. I would honestly go here multiple times a week! I would also schedule lunch meetings here and tell all of my friends to go there. The owners and employees did everything possible to take care of you.Recently this restaurant changed owners and names(from pokeme to choppapoke). It has now turned into a place that although I enjoy the food I would rather avoid this place altogether.1. The prices were raised significantly. When this place opened you could get a large 5 scoop bowl for $10 now a large is $15 with only 4 scoops.2. The employees rush you to make decisions and scold you for asking for more. Today I asked for extra cucumbers and the employee says that really is too much.3. The owners and employees are constantly screaming at each other in Chinese. Which is slightly uncomfortable (and I speak Chinese which I dont think the employees knew haha)4. This tables are not cleaned very often. I went in at 3pm and we found one table that was not coated in masago. So in summary the food is good, but it may not be worth the effort and cost to get it. This review honestly makes me sad to give because I have loved this place for soooo long.

Convenient shopping center with many little shops and restaurants. I like Nikka Ramen and Nikka market. Both are authentic Japanese.
