Absolute best meal, best and most knowledgeable service. Creative menu, expansive, well stocked bar with great great bar tender. Jimmy, the manager, is friendly and informative. Ambiance is sublime. Best Restaurant in Hermosa. My son is Celiac and they accommodated, modified dishes, and used separate utensils and cooking surfaces. My favorites: oysters with tarragon different and refreshing, chicken skewers really great flavors, ribeye a standard but done perfectly, Caesar salad best, sorbets, Japanese whisky selection.

I looked like a typical sushi place but I sat at the counter and turned out it’s like having an Omakase experience. (yes, the menu is pricey indeed, but for the quality I think it make sense). It very stood out that I can 100% tell the sashimi is better than a random sushi restaurant or Japanese supermarket. The owner was around and he said that they have limited golden sake. I have no idea because I’m not very into it but seems like they have a big collection.I barely found free parking at Hermosa beach. There were some spots a few streets away from the beach. You just have to walk a bit. It’s only 1hr parking though.
California Sushi & Teriyaki -Fat Kitty

Casual local Japanese restaurant in Hermosa Beach. Great food, friendly service, extremely reasonable prices. Local crowd seemed to be mostly regulars. Order at the counter. I would definitely go back. Recommended, give it a try!

The service was friendly and it looked very clean. The quality just seemed very low. We couldnt even eat more than one bite of the ss roll. We ordered the apparently fresh bluefin and toro sashimi and it was just meh. The roll recipes all have too many ingredients. I dont want 4 to 5 kinds of fish per roll. I want something that I can tell what it is and I want it to taste good. They should cut their menu in half and the list of ingredients for the rolls in half. Oh, and the wasabi was the weakest Ive ever tasted.

Japonica is my favorite Japanese restaurant in the south bay. Try the Crispy Rice fried sushi.

We came here for a friends birthday. There was 10 of us. The restaurant was about half full so it wasnt super busy at the time. There was a few problems that we ran into while we were dining here.First, some of our drinks kept getting ignored or delayed for at least 20 minutes. Our waiter started blaming us for ordering it with the wrong staff member. Yes we did order some of our drinks from different people because we couldnt find our waiter most of the time. He was busy doing something else even though the restaurant was only half full. However, the drinking in question was ordered directly from him and he couldnt explain why after 30 minutes the wine was still not out. Its not even a cocktail all they had to do was pour it out. At one point I told another friend he wasnt getting his drink because the bartender would just standing around doing nothing and he had place his order 20 minutes ago. My friend had to get up and go to the bar to tell that bartender himself that he had ordered drink 20 minutes ago and its still not being made. One person had ordered his steak medium rare and it came out as well done. It was way off so we had to send it back and get it done again. It was more delayed of course. For the price point of this restaurant, this seems unusual that the chef did not know how to cook this steak.I wasnt sure if our waiter was trying to be funny or rude. If he was trying to be funny, his joke s had fallen flat because you just came off as rude most of the time. For example, he refused to take our order because the first person still hasnt decided and he insisted on taking order in the seat that we were sitting in and the first first person that he was taking order for wasnt ready even though the rest of us were ready and he couldnt just skip one person and get the rest of the orders. So he told us he was going to come back when everyone was ready. The second person was ready to order but he ignored him and just kept going off about how we need to be ready. In fact, the first second person kept getting ignored throughout the evening.Overall, the whole experience just left the sour taste in our mouth.

If youre looking for a great spot to sit in the sun & brunch, look no further. The first time I came here was years ago. I am not sure why it took me so long to come back, but glad I did come back.We came on a Saturday, and there was a steady stream of patrons. Its not required but Id recommend reservations.Food:I ordered the Salmon Benedict. It was actually not what I thought it would be, but in a good way. Its basically eggs Benedict with smoked salmon, but instead of the english muffin, you get potatoes. I was pretty hungry but wasnt able to finish. The portion is very generous. Same goes for the fried chicken and waffles. You wont walk away hungry. The chicken was fried well. Juicy on the inside and a nice crunch on the outside. TBH, I did not try the waffles, mainly because I was busy eating my salmon and did not want to change the flavor in my mouth.H&P also offers bottomless mimosas with a variety of juice/mixer options.Ambiance:Its a cute spot right on Pier. I love that you can sit in the sun. Its not a true outside patio and I dont think youre allowed to bring dogs in, but the front does open up, so you get sunshine & a little breeze. If you overeat like I did, take a little stroll down to the pier after, to walk it off.Service:Service was friendly and fast. Our server was on top of coming around for mimosa refills & overall had a really great attitude. It got pretty busy but she kept smiling and just like with us, I heard her funny/witty exchanges with other customers.
Fusion Sushi
1200 Pacific Coast Hwy, Hermosa Beach, CA 90254, United States
The location was convenient and the food was acceptable but nothing special. The service on the other hand is HORRIBLE. i think I ran out of courtesy and patience. This is the second time they do not give us part of the order and give us a hard time about it. They claim that we are scamming them. This time.We ordered 4 rolls and an order of sushi and a crab hand roll and 2 miso soup and extra ginger.I pick up the order and ask to check it. The lady says no.Of course when I open the order at home, no extra ginger is included. The big issue was the pink lady which is spicy tuna on crispy rice. She corrected me for what to call it while picking up but it was missing from the order. We called to get a refund or go pick it up. The lady on the phone claimed we are trying to scam them. What!? With a $10 roll!? Are you mad!?Anyway here pictures of the order with NO “pink lady” in it. Never ordering food from here ever again. Too many other sushi places in this area to be loyal for someone to offend you like this. See ya!
