Supreme Sushi Restaurant
737 San Benito St, Hollister, CA 95023, United States
I don't know what it is with these Japanese restaurants in Hollister. This is the second one I've gone to that does not use an umami or dashi base. I suppose this is better than the other restaurant in town, which gave me hot water. (Bleh!)I ordered the chicken udon, and all I got was hot water with soy sauce and mirin. Though I got a lot of chicken and a lot of noodles, I had just a few pieces of vegetables. In other words, this isn't what you would typically expect from a Japanese restaurant. You expect a lot more, with far better quality. For the ~$15 they charge, that's rather pricey. I've ate at other Japanese places in in the Silicon Valley where you get much more food (and better food) for the same price. I guess that's what happens when you don't want to drive an hour out of town to San Jose. You get what hand you're dealt and just have to play the best you can.Update:I have responded to the owner and emailed them on Feb. 25, 2024. To date, they have not responded to my email with their offer to make things right. They cant miss my review or say they dont know who I am, because I have included it in my email.Take these owner responses with a grain of salt. Its damage control on their end, often with no real attempts to do right for the customer. They just want others reading the reviews to think the business is accommodating when inaction on their part to follow through in these kinds of situations translates to downright lies.
Miyako Japanese Restaurant
321 San Felipe Rd, Hollister, CA 95023, United States
For a small town like Hollister and to have had quite a fair taste of Japanese restaurants both in Japan and around the world, this place is not too bad. A wide range of sashimi and fairly fresh. The dinner set was surely worth the value. Wasn’t too impress with the roll that came with the set. Will for sure try the sushi and other rolls on the next visit.A good selection of Japanese beer to go down with the meal ?. Decor was typical of a small town. Service was satisfactory.

When I first noticed that SB Fish Market not only an outpost, but also a restaurant in Goleta, I was stoked! Now I no longer have to drive to the marina, look for parking and wait in a line of tourists for the same delicious, fresh seafood. The inside of the store had a plethora of products: canned items (fancy caviar, pickles, olives, etc), condiments and sauces (including many Asian-specific items), cold beverages, freshly prepared to-go items (seaweed salad, uni, slaws, sashimi and more). If youre in a hurry while on a lunch break, grab a drink, bag of chips and a prepackaged meal, and youre on your way! There is also a glass display stuffed with local and non-local seafood selections. Fish fillets, Channel Island Uni, shrimp, crab, oysters, scallops, clams, squid and everything in between! I encourage you to buy any and all things that are marked as local. Support our local, hardworking seafarers! Now on to the restaurant:I wish I could give 5 stars but theyre new and have some hiccups to work out. There are two lines (though it is not clear): one for the restaurant and another for the fish counter. Unfortunately the space is small so they end up running into one another. Staff was very friendly, patient and willing to answer questions. The outdoor patio has many tables yet limited space. Everyone is squeezed together like canned sardines. The staff who delivers the food can barely fit in between the tables and chairs. As for our food:It could have been better... And I suppose I should have ordered the Fish n Chips that looked spectacular. My partner ordered the Tuna Melt which didnt have cheese--a bit odd to be considered a melt. We also thought it would have been better with a slice of tomato. The tuna definitely was fresh and not from a can, so that was pleasant surprise. I had the Oregon Bay Shrimp Rolls which were decent but very plain in flavor. Luckily there was a bottle of mayonnaise so I made the shrimp into a little shrimp salad and then it was much better. Perhaps they should season the shrimp better. The brioche bread was nicely grilled, however, the Caesar Salad wedge was underwhelming. All in all, Unid to check this place out! I hope to give the restaurant another try after some time.
Seabrisas Eatery
155 Skylane Dr, Hollister, CA 95023, United States
My husband and I stopped here for a very late lunch/early dinner on Monday, April 11th and were so pleased with our decision. The patio was pet-friendly which was a real treat as we travel full-time in our Class B RV/campervan with our pup and dont have the opportunity to dine outside with her as often as we would like. Im terrible with names, but our waitress was top-notch - very friendly and efficient and super sweet to our pup. It was a fairly cool and windy day, so I started with the clam chowder and it was very, very good - on par with, if not even better than, most of what Ive had on the New England coast. The real standout was my entrée - I opted for the parmesan crusted halibut in the lemon caper sauce and it was to die for. I love seafood and its always my top choice both when dining out and cooking myself. We lived in Florida for several years, so weve had A LOT of really good seafood but I can honestly say this is the best fish dish I have ever had. The execution on the parmesan crust was exceptional as was the sauce - so so good! My husband had the salmon Florentine which was also very good, but just couldnt quite live up to the halibut. We both had seasonal sauteed vegetables that were seasoned and cooked perfectly, as well as mashed potatoes that were very good. The chef came out to help our server light the patio heater for us, and he was also very friendly and sweet to our pup. We were not expecting such an exceptional meal in what seemed to be the middle of nowhere and I really wish we had had the opportunity to return before leaving the area but it just didnt work out for us to visit again. My husband has been wanting to get his pilots license for years and now this has officially gone on the list of places he wants to fly to just to eat here. In the interim, I need to try to copycat and perfect this halibut recipe.Dont sleep on this place - you definitely wont regret the trip to eat here :)
Poki Bowl
1210 E Park St suite 104, Hollister, CA 95023, United States
Ive been coming to this place around the time it opened (about 4 years), and both the food and service never disappointed me. The service is quick and great. They make sure your bowl is made right, just like they have done mine for 4 years. The food is also great, especially after 4 years. Even after going to other Poki places, none can compare and compete with Poki Bowl. The other places Ive been to made it complicated to order. At Poki Bowl, however, its simple and extremely easy, especially for newcomers. Id recommend anyone who loves seafood or sushi to come to this franchise, especially the one in Hollister. Its worth the money.

Choppa Poke
7000 Hollister Ave #102, Goleta, CA 93117, United States
This place used to be amazing. I would honestly go here multiple times a week! I would also schedule lunch meetings here and tell all of my friends to go there. The owners and employees did everything possible to take care of you.Recently this restaurant changed owners and names(from pokeme to choppapoke). It has now turned into a place that although I enjoy the food I would rather avoid this place altogether.1. The prices were raised significantly. When this place opened you could get a large 5 scoop bowl for $10 now a large is $15 with only 4 scoops.2. The employees rush you to make decisions and scold you for asking for more. Today I asked for extra cucumbers and the employee says that really is too much.3. The owners and employees are constantly screaming at each other in Chinese. Which is slightly uncomfortable (and I speak Chinese which I dont think the employees knew haha)4. This tables are not cleaned very often. I went in at 3pm and we found one table that was not coated in masago. So in summary the food is good, but it may not be worth the effort and cost to get it. This review honestly makes me sad to give because I have loved this place for soooo long.
