Musashi Japanese Restaurant & Sushi Bar
72785 CA-111 B4 B4, Palm Desert, CA 92260, United States
Solid Japanese food in Palm Desert. Service is excellent, food is good. You’ll find the classic dishes and sushi along with some unique items I generally don’t see at other Japanese restaurants like enoki mushrooms with ponzu sauce and yodofu.
Shogun Restaurant
74225 CA-111, Palm Desert, CA 92260, United States
I wish to say this was mediocre at best! It was the worst Japanese teppanyaki experience we’ve ever had. The steak was the worst quality; seemed like it came from Dollar Tree! The guest was late that they set us with which delayed our meal for over 45 minutes, they brought us the wrong appetizer and we thought it was ours (tempura shrimp roll vs tempura shrimp) & the waitress charged us because we started eating it. Then our waitress didn’t check in on us, 1 single solitary time! For any and everything we needed I had to go fetch Lillian! If your goal is to have a dining experience, keep going! They ended up cooking our food then seating the other guest! Our fried rice had no green onions or carrots, there was no seasoning on our food and Carlos lost the darn spatula! He was nice but consumed with the fact he was cooking for us and would have to cook at the same dirty grill for the late party. Oh and they forgot my chicken with my combo! The management was in over their head clearly. If you have a party waiting to be sat, please wait until the whole party arrives before sitting them with a party who’s ready to EAT & that was on time for their reservations! I’d have to also agree that the restaurant could use a deep cleaning! I was EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED & the 20% discount didn’t scratch the surface! I wanted to leave & not go through the trouble of complaining which was evident by my untouched plate! Thought this was a meal that was disaster proof!
The Venue Sushi Bar & Sake Lounge
73111 El Paseo STE 103, Palm Desert, CA 92260, United States
I would like to be empathetic towards the staff at The Venue, but I cant. First, it took 20 minutes to order a drink and then another 10 minutes to get a glass of water. I ordered hot tea. I would have liked a refill but was never asked or given the opportunity. We were also seated and shorted 2 serving settings and had to ask several staff for chopsticks and napkins. Then it took another 2 hours for our party of 8 to receive food. The staff should have been transparent about the fact they had 1 chef rolling sushi for the whole restaurant at the beginningof service- not 90 minutes after being seated. The staff were clearly stressed out, but they didnt handle the situation well and eventually they all seemed to disappear to the kitchen. One of the people in my party ordered the cucumber salad. This was one of the last items we received. Im not sure why a cucumber salad required 2.5 hours of waiting. I eventually went in search of water to fill our empty glasses and then just ended up asking for a pitcher of water for the table to avoid needing staff to provide water refills. 6 people eventually received 1/2 their order, while 2 people sat with nothing to eat. It was awkward not knowing if we should wait or eat. We decided to eat, and 6 were done eating by the time the other two were finally served. The staff should have been honest from the start and explained they were down a chef, and dinner service would require extensive waiting. Granted, we received a discount on our bill, and they also provided a few appetizers while we waited. The flavor and freshness of the sushi was decent. However, for the $$$$$- ($20+ per roll for 2 maybe 8 pieces) YIKES... and consumer beware, they are small rolls. It was underwhelming after waiting and expressing how hungry we were.... ugh. After spending over 3- hours not eating sushi, we all went home still hungry and we all ate another dinner. Im extremely disappointed. I do not recommend.
Mitchs on El Paseo Prime Seafood
73951 El Paseo, Palm Desert, CA 92260, United States
Tonight, we dined at Mitchs on the El Paseo and Portola in Palm Desert. The place was packed! Outdoors we noticed a great beautiful white bougainvillea, which arent that common. Weve been many times here. There were five of us dining tonight, sitting outdoors in the evening. A bitter wind came up, and we all got chilly. But then they turned on these beautiful heaters. And we suddenly noticed that all the booths were lighted up and had been recovered in a new delightful, fresh print. Our waitress, Mallory, who weve had many times before, was her usual cheery self. Small complaint, despite specifically asking them to time the courses, they came on top of each other, and we did feel rushed. Our host bought a nice bottle of Pinot Grigio (See pic), which was excellent. It wasnt Silver Oak excellent, but very nice. For starters, the other guests split Caesar salads, our host had his favorite soup, French Onion. He noted they put chives in which is abnormal, but he thought tasted ok. I had the Caprese Salad, which was beautifully presented with Heirloom Tomatoes and Burrata cheese. The burratta was not as smooth as in past but still yummy. For entrees, the host ordered the duck and thought it was delicious; his date had an enormous pork chop (See pic), which was served with potatoes and green beans. She said it was on the borderline of being too well cooked, but was ok. The other two guests both had the filet mignon, which I double-checked was cooked a true Medium Rare. I had two orders of sushi, California roll 6 piece, and Crunchy Tempura (also known as a Carburator Roll) 12 piece. Couldnt eat the CA rolls and took those home (too full). We declined dessert & coffee but I took pix of the menu. Enjoy!
Sakura Palm Teriyaki House
72-355 CA-111 Suite A, Palm Desert, CA 92260, United States
A very nice and quaint, family owned Japanese restaurant. I ordered the chicken katsu curry with a ramune soda on the side. I have to say, coming here definitely beats driving out to Irvine or L.A. for the same cuisine. The food was great and I’ll be making another order in the future for sure!
Hibachi2go

Stopped here on our way to AZ and was pleasantly surprised with the quality and price! $39 for 2 cut rolls and sashimi plate!!! And Ono sashimi!!! We will be back! Great service and clean even tho looking for help. Will have to try their fried rice and yakisoba next time. Such a cute place with Japanese decor. Loved the chimes on the door as we were leaving. Good sign when there's Japanese customers. Looks like a family business and the mommasan chef came out to deliver food. Very friendly ❤️
Top other services in Palm Desert:
Katsuyama
74990 Country Club Dr #330a, Palm Desert, CA 92260, United States
Great menu and excellent service!! The food is a mix of Japanese and Korean and is authentic to both. I’m pleased that Palm Desert finally has a modern Asian restaurant with such a younger/energetic vibe. I would highly recommend Katsuyama, what a gem!
Chef Tanyas Kitchen - Palm Desert
72695 CA-111 Unit A6, Palm Desert, CA 92260, United States
Intended to try Chef Tanyas the last time I was out in Palm Springs. So I was very happy to see they have a newer location in Palm Desert which was not too far off from where I was staying for the labor day weekend.Such a great spot for vegan food, so I can definitely see what all the hype is about.ITEMS ORDERED:Modern Hippie Veggie (added seitan)TASTE:First off, if you just browse through a few Yelp photos youll see this sandwich looking very aesthetically pleasing & mine turned out just like that. This sandwich is not just looks though since it also tastes good as well as gets great marks for texture. It comes with crack cheese, avocado, gomasio (sesame sea salt), tomato, jicama, shredded carrot, cucumber, purple pickled cabbage, beautiful lettuce, mayo on country levain bread. I added seitan to make it more meaty.Theres definitely lots of ingredients in this sandwich but everything actually works out so well resulting in a fantastic sandwich. All the veggies were very fresh, & crisp which makes the sandwich kinda refreshing. Flavor wise, the crack cheese has a tart flavor that somewhat comes off as hummus. Sweetness from the carrots, light pickling of the cabbage, meatiness of the seitan & nutty flavor from the gomasio all somehow works together pretty much perfectly for a great bite. Id eat this sandwich several times a week & feel good about it. The levain bread has that sourdough vibe just so you know. Its also a well sized sandwich & can be shared among two if you are not overly hungry.SERVICE:The cashier who took my order was friendly & had a good attitude. Always makes the food taste better. You just place your order at the register and they bring the food to your table.I was there within 30 min of opening (11 am) on Saturday (Labor Day weekend) & I walked right in & ordered without waiting. But it did get busy since, as I finished my meal, someone was waiting to sit at my table.LOCATION & PARKING:This might be as much as a cool retail store as it is a fast, casual restaurant. Once you enter youll see the register among many other offerings. When you walk to the other room youll see a few tables as well as other take home items you can purchase (soap, seitan, books, etc). Theres also a few tables outside as well. Overall the place has a nice homely vibe which I like. They are located in Palms to Pines West Shopping Center, off El Paseo. There is ample parking so its very easy.Honestly, if I was local Im quite sure Id be a regular here. I was impressed my this sandwich enough Id probably get the same thing again, although I am intrigued by the other items, & the desserts of course. I definitely plan on coming back when Im in the area.Cheers!
JW Marriott Desert Springs Resort & Spa
74-855 Country Club Dr, Palm Desert, CA 92260, United States
Where to begin… we pulled up to this hotel because we had a boat reservation at 6pm and dinner at the Japanese restaurant onsite…. There is no self parking, valet only. The valet crew is majority younger men who geeked over our vehicle and made comments about who was going to drive it. When they opened the door they were surprised that it was a manual and all looked disappointed and called the one older gentleman to park it. This made me feel uneasy like the younger crew would have taken advantage if they could. Moving on to the boat ride, it was late and didn’t show up until 10 min past. We get on the boat and the young woman driving immediately states that it’s her 4th boat tour ever conducting and makes a comment that if anything goes wrong we could put the life jackets on that we’re in the front of the boat. There were 2 life jackets and 7 people aboard this. I first thought it was a joke until she kept stressing the entire party out by saying she was uncomfortable with going under the bridges and “she’s got this”. She complained about how fast the other boat in front of her was going, how small the entrance and exit was that the boat had to go through in the hotel. It made my anxiety cringe. We got dropped off at the restaurant and she said she had never dropped anyone off and the other staff told her to do it like a “drive through”, well she hit the boat on the dock and my husband has to grab the dock so we could try to get off of this nightmare of a ride. The water also smells horrible, if you do the boat ride before dinner, it WILL ruin your appetite. I thought this hotel was going to have professional staff based on the reviews and photos, it was not a good experience. It left me feeling unsettled the entire time I was on their property. I’m just glad that I didn’t book a room here, I will not recommend to anyone.
