Wako Japanese Restaurant
211 Clement St, San Francisco, CA 94118, United States
I first discovered Wako while wondering the streets of Clement. The exterior caught my eye…it was simple and clean, gave a very traditional Japanese vibe! We ordered their 7 course omakase, chirashi bowl, and grilled miso black cod.The place is really small - seat max 25 people. The chef and the waitresses were all Japanese. The service was amazing...the waitress was very attentive. She promptly took our orders, brought out the dishes one after another perfectly timed, cleared the table as soon as we were done with each dish, rearranged our plate settings for prettier presentation as she saw fit, wiped the table in between dishes, filled tea/water frequently. Service itself is always an experience at a traditional Japanese restaurant! Now the food…. It was definitely quality over quantity. Omakase was a good option for variety. We tried the house sesame tofu, small salad, 2 slices of eggplant (or was it 1 slice?), tempura, 4 slices of sashimi, 7 pieces of nigiri, miso soup, and blueberry panna cotta. Hmmm I’m missing one dish but can’t recall what it was!! Everything was so delicate, fresh, delicious and nicely presented! The chirashi bowl was equally impressive. One thing worth of noting – sushi rice was warm….yumm. And oh boy, my favorite was probably the miso black cod. It was so moist, tender, and just melted in your mouth good. Overall a great experience, so excited for another authentic Japanese restaurant in the Richmond! Tho probably can’t return too often due to $$$!
Miyako Japanese Restaurant
641 Camino De Los Mares # D120, San Clemente, CA 92673, United States
I love Miyako! Best Japanese restaurant I know I recommend it to all my family and friends. Jay makes the best b&j ceviche and they have the best hot tea! I had to ask for a 3rd order of the ceviche even though I was full just because it tasted so good. There sushi is to die for and the fish is so fresh. You dont want to miss out on this diamond of a restaurant.
Harajuku Sushi
1812 Clement St, San Francisco, CA 94121, United States
We ordered a take out of 4 sushi rolls. As you can see from the photos, the sushis were all crammed together into the box, so when we try to pick one up with our chopsticks, the sushi is falling apart.I’ve also noticed that they are not using Japanese jade rice to make the sushi, which makes it not authentic cus Japanese jade rice are more expensive and sticky in texture which explains why the sushi roll is falling apart. The size of the rolls are also much smaller than other Japanese restaurants in town.
Tomo Noodles & Dumplings
101 W Avenida Vista Hermosa #620, San Clemente, CA 92672, United States
I would say the location is nice and clean. The staff are friendly and were helpful when I had an issue with an order. But for this being called a noodle and dumpling place, the ramen was subpar. I ordered the tonkotsu and the broth was bland and had little to no flavor. The noodles were stuck together. If you have never had ramen dont try it here. The shoyu egg was decent. The pork was decent. But overall the centerpiece of the ramen the broth was not good it was food thats it. I also got potstickers and while the breading was thicker and done better than most iv seen they were just okay decent. For the price I paid 9.50 for a small bowl about 3 cups worth including the broth, and 6.50 for 5 potstickers that were average size, it was not worth the money. Iv had ramen from quite a few places. Iv had it on the east and west coast and Japan itself. From Okinawa and mainland. I also make cheap homade ramen that is better than this. The only reason I didnt leave 1 star is because the staff are nice and the location is nice and clean. If you want good ramen dont go here honestly its the worst ive had.(edit) From what I see this restaurant is bad now since it was fairly new when I went. If you want good ramen find somewhere else. If you never had ramen please dont try it here its no represented good here at all. For all that Im changing my review to one star.
Super Bowl Express
1622 N El Camino Real, San Clemente, CA 92672, United States
OMG, OMG, OMG ? ? ? WOW!No exaggerating, no kidding, my first time here and Im blown away. ? Crazy Good ?I was out Saturday ridding my 23 Phantom, heading south on the coast road. I was actually heading to a different place Ive been wanting to try and I was so hungry I about to chew my own off, when it hit me, this aroma of teriyaki chicken cooking on a grill, ahh mann I had to have it. I had to make two U-turns ( you know the coast road, No crossing the double solid yellow lines) to get back to Super Bowl ExpressAnd I am here to tell you it was Well worth the effort. The staff is real friendly, youre met with a hello and a welcome as you walk into this little Mom & Pop restaurant. The restaurant is very clean and their is indoor and outdoor seating. The menu is very extensive for the size of the restaurant ? and the portions are very generous, and prices very reasonable ? this is a Good Meal & Value establishment ?I had the teriyaki chicken bowl (first item on thier popular item menu) it was cooked fresh, and served on a perfect sized bed of white rice with a mountain of grilled teriyaki chicken on top ? then instead of drowning the chicken in teriyaki sauce, the staff lets you choose how much sauce to add, same goes for the green onions and sesame seeds. ? along with a medium fountain drink. ALL for less than $15.00 bucks.I ate every ladt bite except for about five kernels of rice, that I got tired of chasing around the bottom of the bowl ? it was sooo good???Now let me be completely honest and forthcoming, this is really a very nice hidden gem and have been in business for 31 years so you know they have to doing It Right bit they are a mom & pop shop, the owners are doing the cooking putting in the love first hand, and cooked fresh, so be prepared to wait a couple of minutes for your order ? but it is worth it ? if you only have limited time, they do offer and recommend that you phone in, your order in advance ? but if youre not in a hurry stop in have a sit down, and try this place, I cant wait till next time I come back, maybe this coming weekend. ?Enjoy ?Tell them Fred sent you ?
Big Fish House
2109 Clement St, San Francisco, CA 94121, United States
What a Sushi find!!! The sushi here is fresh and very, very good. The Big Fish House imports much of its fish directly from Japan. It also skillfully acquires local catch to round out its inventory.Located in San Francisco, Outer Richmond District, at 2109 Clement Street, between 22nd and 23rd Avenue. Parking is metered along Clement, free if you find space along the Avenues. We reserved a spot by calling in, but you can just walk in as there is plenty of seats. Our group was blown away by the Big Fish House. We were also very fortunate to meet Julie, the restaurant owner. For starters we had Edamame and a Poke bowl. The Maguro was so fresh! Our next dish was a platter of 14 Day aged Maguro/Tuna sushi, Albacore sushi, and Salmon sushi. I felt the aged Tuna flavor was indeed much richer with surprisingly less fishy taste. The Albacore and Salmon were also so fresh and flavorful. All nice thick cuts. Note: The ginger and wasabi were top of the line, quality that you expect from a Nobus type of Sushi house.Next up was a Pike-Sanma. Japanese call it a katana fish due to its shape. It was served the traditional way, salted, broiled and delicious.Next a Veggie tempura platter. It had a nice batter, healthy portions, cooked to perfection. Our final dish was the Big Fish House signature, “Chicken Wings. Mega Tasty and Mega Crispy is how I would describe it. Its light battered and deep fried. This is a must have here! The restaurant has a very intimate setting. Large comfy couch (waiting area) in front, 8-10 sushi bar seats, several large tables, healthy selection of drinks and sake! With Julies excellent service, beautiful presentation, delicious sushi, and very obvious ability to select the finest sushi, I give Big Fish House my highest recommendation.
Fuku Ramen
2110 Clement St, San Francisco, CA 94121, United States
From the decorations to the food, one could hardly call this a Japanese restaurant. We tried three different ramens and the takoyaki. Everything was extremely bland, the taste was off, and the ingredients were not fresh.I can not in good faith recommend this restaurant and your dollars are best spent elsewhere.
Izakaya mayumi
2221 Clement St, San Francisco, CA 94121, United States
Small Izakaya packed with unique food items like Akedashi Mochi (rather than tofu) or Beef Intestine udon! We enjoyed the vibe of small, hidden intimated shop. The staff is nice and the food tastes amazing. Some dishes are small portion but some are huge like grilled octopus. It is quite an adventure to explore all the food you dont find in a typical American Japanese restaurants so have fun!
Mikawa Ramen
2435 Clement St, San Francisco, CA 94121, United States
Very casual and straightforward Japanese restaurant. Went in for dinner and had the Chicken Karaage as an appetizer and the Chicken Curry Udon. Both were excellent! Wish the Curry Udon had more veggies, but the chicken cutlet was tasty.
Oishinbo Sushi
202 Clement St, San Francisco, CA 94118, United States
Ive been wanting to try this takeout sushi spot since it opened. Apparently, picked the wrong weekend. Tried to order online yesterday around 6:30, since it says its open Sat till 8. But while it said open for orders initially, it changed to closed for orders when I was ready to check out. Next morning, I see its now also open for Sun lunch till 2 and the website is open for orders. Tried again, successfully this round. Order email confirmation received, says to wait for restaurant confirmation. Says orders take 20-30 or 25-35 mins. I wait and wait, no response. Call after 50 mins, message says unable to answer phone now. Since I live just 6 mins walk from there, head out to check and hopefully pick up. I know its a one-man operation, so maybe he cant answer the phone. Guess what, closed! At 12:55. Guessing, it was never open this weekend. Not sure why he didnt close orders on site or put a notice on his door since business is not open at stated open hours. Emergency, I bet. Now I have to dispute my cc charge for goods not received. Hoping hes ok!!
