Umigame Japanese Kitchen
13608 Ventura Blvd, Sherman Oaks, CA 91423, United States
Came in yesterday evening expecting nothing less than the very best that I normally have experienced at this restaurant. However last night was a not so pleasant experience. Our waitress “Ayumi” was pretty rude overall. She took our order and never came back to our table to see how we were doing. She completely ignored us and had a rbf expression on her face every time she looked in our direction. I wound up speaking to the owner who apologized for the rudeness of Ayumi. He was gracious and offered to comp our next visit. I respectfully declined a free meal. I let him know that I appreciate the gesture but it would be much better to retrain his rude employee as having people work for you that are rude can be harmful to a business! You can lose a good customer as well as many future referrals. Employees and the expressions they wear can make or break an experience that people have in your restaurant. Ayumi, you really should do better! I still would come back again and hopefully it will be a better experience than tonight. The food is still very good and the rest of the staff seem pleasant.

Most unique menu ive seen at a japanese restaurant. live oysters, sea urchin in shell, pork belly skewers, steamed clams with sake butter, etc. very cool ambiance; fun but not corny. great quality fish. a definite spot to watch.

Tamashii Ramen House
14531 Ventura Blvd, Sherman Oaks, CA 91403, United States
OK, this is officially my favorite noodle shop in the San Fernando Valley. I have eaten here once before, in the throes of a raging cold. The Spicy Chicken Ramen hit the spot, opened my sinuses, and gave me blissful relief. Here, on my return visit, my dining companion and I started with a wonderful tempura sweet potato appetizer. They gave us 7 pieces instead of the 8 that was promised in the menu, but rectified the problem quickly. My dining companion had the special of the day: chicken cha siu. This was not typical Japanese cha siu, thats normally exclusively made with pork. Also it had a Chinese flair, with a lovely sweet caramelized red sauce. It was served on what looked like a mountain of rice.I had chicken curry ramen. Normally its served in a curried broth with a dollop of curry sauce floating on top, but Tamashii has the curry mixed into the noodles, without broth. Shades of the curry spaghetti you can occasionally get at House Foods Curry House restaurants, but this was way better.Since I am a fan of Kawaii culture, we had to end our meal with steamed buns that looked like cute little piggies! They were stuffed with a sweet Ube (Filipino Purple Yam) stuffing...a sweet way to end our meal.I totally recommend this place, and wish I had more than five stars to give.

Nomura Sushi Restaurant

I was in the valley and wanted sushi take out. Found this spot on Yelp and loved that they had a 15% off coupon for checking in on Yelp so I tried it out. When I ordered on the phone the lady was very nice and said it would be ready in 15 minutes. I got there 20-25 minutes later and it was not completely ready but they were very apologetic about it so I didn't hold it against them because it was short and I was able to check out the restaurant. The place is small and on the 2nd floor right when you get off the escalator. They have outside and inside eating. There were only about 4 parties (mostly outside) eating here. I was surprised it was so empty on a beautiful Saturday night. I ordered the spicy edamame, spicy tuna on crispy rice, and a salmon avocado roll with a side of eel sauce to go. I was excited to try the food, the salmon avocado roll was ok and very big. I normally like my seaweed inside of the roll not outside. The fish tasted fresh though. The spicy tuna on crispy rice was good, loved that it came with spicy Mayo and eel sauce. And the spicy garlic edamame was ehh. I'm used to more flavor with it, but maybe it was like that because I got it to go. All in all I'd give the service an A and the food a B. There was nothing special about this place but I would still come back and try something different because the people were really nice, food's ok, it's convenient, and quick. I'll make sure to update this post when I do.And P.S, if you park in the lot in the back, make sure to get your ticket validated. I was in there for 5 minutes and the cashier tried to charge me $3 after he told me I had free parking for 2 hours. But he gave me a pass and said he told me “2 hours free with validation” so now I know for next time

Traditional sushi at it finest. Our gracious and generous Chef Neio, meets the challenge of crafting traditional Japanese sushi while, appealing to the delicate palates of todays modern consumer. He wields his craft with the mastery of a seasoned professional and produces some of the finest traditional sushi that can be found in the valley. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, suitable for, date night or celebrating landing a big deal. Almost as amazing as the ambience is another sterling stand out. This restaurant is immaculately CLEAN. Sazanami sets a new standard for me when it comes to the cleanliness of any restaurant, sushi or otherwise.

I adore this small family-run Chinese restaurant! Often, the Hot n Sour Soup will tell you all you need to know about a place, and theirs is outstanding. Every dish Ive had here has been superb, from the Double Fantasy special, to the Triple Mongolian, the BBQ ribs, Monks Feast all veggie plate, to the Chow Fun. The food items are fresh, the sauces are light and flavorful, and portions are generous. Service friendly and personable. Prices on a par with other Chinese places, but food quality much better here. The only drawback is the parking, but I always manage to get a spot. Highly recommended!

This place is an out of the way sushi/ Japanese restaurantThe Sushi is freshly made and full of flavor and the teriyaki chicken its a great option you can also pick several side dishes like rice cucumber salad pasta salads and more they have Fountain drinks as usual there is an ample amount of seeding indoors and Outdoors the floors are clean the restrooms are kept very tidy there are big screens showing the news and big tall floor-to-ceiling windows that give the restaurant a very open space feel there is no table service but there staff is very friendlyI would definitely visit again and enjoy the combination would you get teriyaki chicken and California roll with rice and one salad, it is the best combo in their menu, in my opinion
