ManSun Japanese Restaurant
21190 Golden Springs Dr, Walnut, CA 91789, United States
It is funny. A Japanese restaurant but serve you Korean kimchi. A restaurant that doesn’t have sea urchin then tell you roe is the same thing. A restaurant that the waitress barely speaks English. Not a real Japanese restaurant and people don’t know what they are talking about. Good luck.
Yoshinoya Walnut

I usually do not like to leave a review unless the service was really good or really poor. In this case it is the latter as I arrived there with 7 people waiting on the side and I was sure if they had ordered. But after asking someone they all confirmed they ordered and so I went off to place my order which was not a problem. After 20-25 min later everyone had left with their food and a new batch of 7-8 people arrived and order. At this point I was extremely upset as this is suppose to be fast food. I went to cashier and ask if my food was ready and provided my number. The person informed me that he is going to make it right now. At that point I had enough and requested a refund. At the end I had no food and wasted about a half an hour of my time.Avoid this location at all cost. Horrible slow service and employees that frankly do not care about your time. Would give it a -5 star if I had the option.
Baek Oak Korean & Japanese Restaurant
21080 Golden Springs Dr, Walnut, CA 91789, United States
This little Korean restaurant in the market is our second kitchen when we are too tired or too lazy to cook and want some comfort food fast. Many traditional korean, japanese shusi, and udon selections. Price is right and not expensive if you include all the free side dishes. Can get a little busy on the weekends and local come for a quick bite.
Domo Sushi & Roll
1375 N Grand Ave, Walnut, CA 91789, United States
Small family-owned and run Japanese restaurant across the street from Mt. SAC College. Plate meals are very reasonable, good deal for students. Sushi is more expensive, although not unreasonable. They use wild-caught salmon for the sushi. Very unusual, premium stuff! Great service.
Mazesoba Hero
1247 N Grand Ave, Walnut, CA 91789, United States
This place is good! I have previously only tried this style of noodle from Menya in Arcadia, and not sure if this is just a new style to enjoy ramen noodles. If you are a eggs Benedict lover, or someone that loves runny eggs, having this addition to a noodle bursting with flavor is delicious. I have visited twice, and have had a great experience with the friendly staff. The place is right across from Mt. Sac, it isn't the biggest place so if you are looking for 8+ this wouldn't be the spot. The place looks modern and clean.FoodThe two times that I came, I gave the Champion Mazesoba a try. It is so good with the runny egg plus additional two soft boiled eggs and the cha-Siu. I'm glad I gave spicy a try as the first time I got it with no spicy. The first time I also tried the Crown Mazesoba. It was also quite good if you like Karage, that is fried and sweet.I will definitely plan another trip sometime in the near future again. The good thing is that you also do not have to drive far into Orange County, or 626 area to get this, as it is right in Walnut. Until next time!
Poki Maki by Mr.7

Spotted this place while getting gas. Stopped by and was quite surprised at how spacious it is, but also, its 100% self-service.You order at a kiosk (so card only), and a robot server will come by with your food. Youre also expected to get your own utensils. So there is 100% no interaction with the staff. This point is absolutely great if you have social anxiety or just dont want to talk to people. One thing though, is that you cant 100% customize what you want or not want on it, as you order a set bowl and order extra items if need be. Im personally used to ordering a completely custom poké bowl, but this was fine I guess. The food came out at a reasonable amount of time, and I was surprised by the amount of food there was in the bowl. Mind you, Im a petite Asian girl who doesnt eat much so this is a lot for me personally. As for the food itself, it tasted pretty good. Fresh enough and delicious enough for a craving. I ordered the salmon tuna and spicy tuna poké bowl and a Hokkaido milk tea. The milk tea itself tastes pretty good as well.Overall, pretty good first impressions.
Papasan Rolls and Bowls

Google Maps really doesnt do this place justice for some reason. When you search for restaurants in the area, this doesnt even show up as a dot on the map and you have to really zoom in to find it. We found this place through a Japanese friend of ours who goes there every week(!).The food here is great - and thats underselling it a bit. From the sashimi to the ramen (and oh the tempura...), this is the best in the area and you cant really miss. Do a search for other Japanese restaurants in this district, go to each one, and youll find that this place is as good and authentic as it gets (incidentally, its also one of the cleanest which is weird to have to even mention). We know because thats what we did.Not only that, but the chef puts in the extra effort in the little visual details of how Japanese food is usually put together that other places dont even bother with. This actually makes me curious where the chef used to work or train before opening his own place. If you work in the area or find yourself here and are looking for Japanese food, this little mom-and-pop shop is the best youll find. If you have toddlers, theyll get a kick out of the robot cat server.
Sake Sushi

Just like many others and as a local, the reviews are correct about wait times. This business must not thrive off financial need rather than preference of their time in general. We placed a phone order with two separate bills, was told two different wait times. Understood as one order would come first, but it was a 45 min difference. We have ordered before and are aware they quote the wait time and regardless when you arrive it's never ready. I'm only writing this review because it was more of a poor customer service when we arrived. We showed up for the first order after the 45 mins knowing it would be a bit later and thought to have a beverage while we wait, mind you it's a very larger order so we're happy to accommodate a short period after the estimated time, the woman at the counter yelled from their Covid ordering station from across from the back sushi bar, “I said 1.5 hours”, we said we're aware and would like to wait in the restaurant and order some drinks. After speaking with the server we confirmed none of either order had been started on. People in the restaurant looked to have been waiting as well. Overall I'm thinking they generate enough business to keep them content so regardless of reviews they will still get business. This area doesn't have a lot of options for Sushi so it'll continue to run this way. They also have better pricing than the only other option nearby. Sushi in Walnut doesn't really jump out when thinking “let's get sushi”, but I'm sure it fills the craving.
Stuffers Kitchen & Coffee Bar

What the hell did I just eat?! I was working in the building next door and saw laying around. While I was leaving work, I decided to stop by an try a loaded cheese steak... I wasnt expecting anything special, so I was blown away when I bit into a perfectly ratioed meat to cheese to vegetables to roll sandwich! Oh yeah, that chipotle mayo really set the whole thing off. I will be volunteering to work out of our Tustin office a lot more from now on so that I could sample more of Stuffers menu... BTW: Customer service was amazing.

If theres a grander word than Grand then thats the word that describes Grand Island Mansion. Being an old Hollywood boy now 72 this castle in the air has rich historical pertinence. The roads into the lush property that sits down below the levee alongside the Sacramento River are two. Tongue in cheek Ill report the road to Grand Island Mansion Suri put us on in my dear friends new shiny black Mercedes Sedan is an extremely rocky road. The narrow road winds over Hill and dale with plenty of sharp swerves and its full of various pot holes, some the size of a Jacuzzi, expect this nightmare/daymare to last almost right up to the fancy front gates to the mansion. If you take this route in which is a scenic drive beginning on the levee road at Isleton, youll see scattered farming communities, beautiful old Delta Victorian homes nestled there in the peat dirt backwoods of Walnut Grove. When we arrived after the treacherous drive I thought it wouldnt have been as bad if I had only taken a handful of Dramamine. Freeway5 is the fastest most suitable route to Grand Island Mansion. You take the Walnut Grove exit, turn towards the river and keep driving until you see the sign for GIM. Arriving you are suddenly in view of a sea of towering Italian cypresses. Then right smack in the middle of those tall trees sits in all her ivory glory elegant historical Grand Island Mansion. Breathtaking it is.. suddenly you may hear yourself saying gee am I dressed appropriately for this palace? Sunday brunch is what we came for and we were soon seated at our table by a beautiful hostess dressed in white frilly finery. Reservations are required although we didnt know that and still this marvelous hostess said follow me. Long story short so not to spoil the many surprising discoveries you will make after brunching on exquisite prime rib and a host of exotic entrees and divine desserts, all you can eat for $49. Grand Island Mansion was a home away from home for the Lewis W Meyers family, doubled as a duck hunting lodge, not to down play such elegance. Hollywoods elite classic film stars such as Clark Gable, Marlene Dietrich, Tyrone Power, Edith Piaf often stayed there just to name a few. You will see their names affixed to the doors to their private changing rooms nearby the magnificent outdoor pool just beyond the ballroom. The upstairs bedroom suites are stunning to say the very least, each one adjoined by incredibly large gorgeous bathrooms the size of Texas, all bedrooms lavishly furnished having verandas overlooking lush green gardens. A spacious theater is a must see, to think Gable and Dietrich kicked back in that theater gave me the goose bumps. The entire time we were walking the hallways and grounds of Grand Island Mansion our jaws were dropped never returned to their rightful positions until we returned to Stockton ?. The rich history of the Meyer family that built this castle in the air is riveting. When the stock market crashed in 39 the home built for duck hunting expeditions by the ultra wealthy family overnight belonged to the family no more. Its definitely a sad sad story. Over the years since the great depression many twists and turns the property has seen. Today the mansion is owned and managed impeccably to please the public, Im trying not to write a novel here. ? The full history along with stunning pictures any one of you can Google and read about. Right up channel across the river from the Grand Island Mansion sits The Ryde Hotel another eye pleasing historical building from a long gone era. It was once owned by horror movie star Lon Chaney (The Wolf Man). I give Grand Island Mansion not a 5 star rating but a 10 star rating. Its quite spectacular, sitting out there in the middle of nowhere along the aged levee road in Walnut Grove, who knew? GjF
