Jang Goon Sushi & Korean BBQ
9671 E Stockton Blvd, Elk Grove, CA 95624, United States
SO glad this place is finally open, Ive been driving by for weeks waiting for it. The wait was completely worth it, the food and service are impeccable. The layout is just right for the size of the building. I was also impressed with all of the interior modifications that have been done since the last tennant. All the furnishings, prep area and sushi counter look brand new and well chosen. The beer selection is much more than I expected with plenty of Japanese staples as well as a few unexpected but welcome additions. Since it was my first trip I ordered the Spiderman roll (soft shell crab and cucumber) it was fantastic and the soft shell crab was done just right. I also ordered a chicken katsu bento box which was also wonderfully executed. As a certified sushi nut I cant tell you how excited I am to add another great sushi bar to my repertoire!

Oz Korean BBQ - Elk Grove
2605 Riparian Dr, Elk Grove, CA 95757, United States
This place is pretty popular so be prepared to wait 15 to 20 minutes. The food smells so good out side of the restaurant and lures you in. They have good seating and a bar. ( Good strong drinks ) The staff will take your order of meats you want to eat and then light the grill. They bring you sides of vegetables, rice, Korean style dishes and your meat. You cook the meat on the grill yourself. This place has good ambiance and is a favorite spot of Elk Grove, Ca.

Ember Korean BBQ

Very wonderful experience! As someone that has tried Oz, Gangnam, JJ's, Gen House, Bulta, and Blue House (ranking / preference in that order), this one definitely can slot right next to Oz.First, the cons, the menu felt a bit limited and the meats don't feel as good of a cut as Oz, and the meats don't have a great selection of marinated (mainly soy/garlic which is pretty light on the flavor). They also don't list desert until they offer at the end (ice cream) so not sure why that wasn't on the menu.Pros: Absolutely super tasty home-made popcorn chicken. Beef Bulgogi is solid. Cheese Ramen and most standard appetizers like the Jap Chae tasted slightly better than the rest of the KBBQs. Scallion salad was absolutely delicious too like a nice umami salad. Jeon (Korean pancake) was a big hit too.The wait was only about 5 minutes at 830PM on a Saturday whereas Oz and others were like 60-120 minutes. So that was really nice. Atmosphere is beautiful too- maybe because it's relatively new but I love the vibe.Lastly, as others have said, the service is absolutely A+. They did like 5 grill changes for me, legit we ordered the Korean pancakes and it came out before the server was even done taking our order (because it's on a tablet). Super fast. Servers and extremely friendly and feel genuinely nice. They explained many dishes we weren't sure about in good detail and they did so happily. Servers kept checking on us too.A unique thing at this restaurant is you can get a half order too! Which was awesome because sometimes you just want to try things and don't want to waste. So I ordered half on a ton of things just to get a try. Super smart and helpful!Even though the meat wasn't quite as good as Oz, it was still solid. The service, speed, atmosphere, appetizers, and half order option more than makes up for the shortcomings. It may not be everyone's favorite, but I do think you'll have a solid experience here for sure. Keep it up Ember!!

We visited here on a Friday night so I assumed the wait would be long because the restaurant is new, popular, and Id heard there can be a wait. There was a 30 min wait if we wanted a table, but since there were just two of us, we were able to immediately take a seat at the island behind the bar. So if youre willing to either sit at the bar or at the island just behind the bar, you may be able to cut down or eliminate the wait time. The decor is very modern (like!) and there were quite a few TVs around the restaurant (maybe 6?). Our server greeted us promptly and took our drink orders. We tried the citron flavor soju and we enjoyed its light Sprite-like flavor. For an appetizer, we ordered the Salmon Avocado Ball. I wanted to try it because it looked so unique and sounded yummy! It had a great flavor with crab, avocado, and cucumber inside and seared salmon on the outside, drizzled with sauces. I liked the mix of flavors-it all went well together. For dinner, we ordered the Bibimbap with bulgogi and a small combo plate of fried chicken- half soy garlic flavor, half spicy. I really liked the soy garlic fried chicken because Im a lightweight when it comes to spicy. I got an especially spicy bite of one wing and had to stop eating the spicy because my tongue was on fire :P But thats just me. My husband loved the spicy ones.I would have liked to try more other foods, but I was too full so it looks like we will have to come back!

Z Town - Asian Gastro Bar
8409 Elk Grove Florin Rd, Elk Grove, CA 95624, United States
This place is exactly as you would expect from an Asian late night bar type of restaurant. The food was surprisingly good in terms of less Korean sweet flavoring in there food. Which is a plus in my book. Will definitely be a turn off for others. The only downside is the price to portion ratio. It is some of the worse I have seen.

Im 100% Korean, I lived in South Korea for a few years and visit often because I have a big family. I also know how to cook Korean dishes and cuisine, nothing I ordered tasted good from this so called restaurant. I should have read the reviews before I spent over $100 on my Grubhub order. This place is a disgrace to all Korean restaurants, I tried calling to see if I can talk to somebody over at the restaurant to ask for the owners contact information and the phone just keeps ringing. The soondubu jige was bland and had absolutely zero veggies which is weird plus the chicken bulgogi might as well be retitled as teriyucki chicken. All the authentic Korean restaurants are off of Bradshaw and Folsom and Watt Ave. Pine Tree House, Sa Rang Bang, Blue House, OZ BBQ, YD Tofu House and Jiu Jiu Korean BBQ (formerly known as Korea House).

I think this is the first dedicated ayce hot pot restaurant in the area. Korean style shabu that also serves good sushi for dinner. Meats were great. Soup bases were also amazing. Having a cold bar for all the veggies and side dishes is a great option. Service was awesome as well. I hope this place sticks around for the long run. Really good stuff!

Pops Premium Meat Shop
10044 Bruceville Rd #180, Elk Grove, CA 95757, United States
When Pops first opened up shop... the 2 younger of my 4 sons heard that a new Butcher opened up in our neighborhood and that their House-Made Sausages are FIRE! So they said they were gonna go get some and ask if I would throw them on the Traeger. Im pretty sure they bought 2 of every variety and they were beyond FIRE!!! THE BEST weve ever had!Everything that we have ever purchased from Pops has been excellent but my most recent experience was, as always better than than the excellence than i already expected.I purchased a rack of Baby Back Ribs a Tri-Tip Roast and marinated them for almost 48 hours in Black Pepper Sauce that I also purchased at THE POPS PREMIUM MEAT SHOP.I have been barbecueing for about 40 years and smoking for at least 15 .... And Ive had some really good baby back ribs and tri-tips throughout those years and I dont know if it was the marinade that Dan suggested or if it was the superior meat, or both... but I have to say that it was not just excellent but it was the SUPERMOSTEXCELLENTFLAVORFULGREATTASTING smoked meats that Ive had in a long time if ever!Thank you Bryan and Dan!!!

West Coast Taco Bar
8791 Elk Grove Blvd, Elk Grove, CA 95624, United States
I was raving to my sis about this place and how the food was so good. I was half right this time, maybe it was an off day for them? The asada fries and the watermelon bro drink (definitely get it with the chamoy and tajin) was super delicious! But my all time fav, the Bitchin Cali burrito was not good this time ?... the shrimp was so salty that we couldnt taste the other flavors in the burrito. And the Korean Seoul taco, the meat tasted like straight up soy sauce. The service was great though and so was the chips and salsa. I love seeing this business thrive from their food truck to the restaurant. I will definitely be back but please dont let it be salty. The Bitchin Cali burrito was the best thing that happened to Sacramento lol.

Tanuki Izakaya & Ramen
7119 Elk Grove Blvd #125, Elk Grove, CA 95758, United States
My all time favorite foods are served here! Katsudon, katsu curry, shrimp tempura curry, and croquette curry. I have been let down by other Elk Grove restaurants trying to find katsudon that actually follows the actual Japanese recipe (side eyeing Satori Sushi and a few other places so hard right now ?).Im not a person who thinks only Japanese people can make good Japanese food, thats silly. But I do like it to have the right flavors etc if its not presented as fusion or a spin on traditional foods. Most of the Japanese restaurants in our area are run by lovely people from many ethnicities. I like to know ahead of time so that I dont do something dumb like order the items in Japanese (sometimes I forget and ask for ramen kata me and then feel like I was both dumb and rude when the server is like Uhhh what now?). I used to live there and it kind of comes back when youre having the food! The staff here is not Japanese but they are super excited about making good food and greeting customers. Tanukis food is authentic and tastes good. The staff is polite and pays attention to detail. Everyone makes you feel welcome. I have been here maybe 10 times and ordered both dine-in and takeout and the order is always accurate, huge portions, and delicious. The curry is exquisite. For you white people, it may be a bit on the hot side of medium compared to store bought Japanese curry roux. It pairs well with croquettes and shrimp tempura! This restaurant is not good for bringing someone to if you want to talk quietly about deep stuff, Its small and loud like a good ramen shop tends to be. We always end up watching the TVs. There is usually something on with k-pop. No, its not those 2 very famous in the US groups that start with B, so stop asking lol. Its stuff with older SM or JYP artists hosting a variety show or some mvs. I tend to see stuff with Eunhyuk and Donghae from SuJu on the screen a lot I think. I have seen a ranking awards show but it was an old one.I really like the decor. They invested well in it and its very nice.If I could ask for an item that they dont already have, I would like matcha latte, soba noodles, chuka soba, yakisoba, or kids size items. A small ramen or udon with fish cake in it would be super! My kids eat like soooo little and they never want the same thing as each other so having them share is out.I would also adore if they did DoorDash for delivery! Because parking here SUCKS.All in all a solid 5 stars. Thank you!
