Shan noodles with chicken, and deep fried whole fish were delicious. Would order again. The deep fried battered chicken chunks and tofu not so much.We appreciate that each dish came with separate serving utensils, that isnt always the case at Asian eateries. So if you are sharing with friends and dread the accidental double dip, fear not.Shan noodles were mixed for us table side, and lemon squeezed for us. It was a great punchy mix of bright bold flavors. The pickled greens were funky and pungent, when mixed up with the fresh greens, lemon juice, etc. It all comes together. The whole fish was fried beautifully. Squeezing the giant whole lemon chunk left our fingers sticky from the sauce it had been drizzled with. Would have liked it to be wedged for easier squeezing. We liked that the fish wasnt drowning in the sweet sauce and only the lower half near the tail had sauce. The upper part near the head was mostly dry. This suited us fine but if you like more saucy, then you can always use the serving spoon to scoop extra sauce from bottom of plate and drizzle. The tofu was interesting, well fried so it was crisp, not greasy, like fried tofu can be. The inside was indeed soft like the menu described. It is different from regular (your average firm Korean, Japanese, Vietnamese, taiwanese, Chinese etc. tofu) tofu, has a sour smell and taste kind of like slightly spoiled regular tofu, but with a mashed potato texture. The chicken chunks had a warmed over odor and flavor that I could not stomach, but if you arent sensitive to that you may like the sticky sweet General Tso type sauce. Batter was too thick for my liking but if you like hush puppies and bready items, you may like this.Note for people with food allergies: The older male server was very communicative and proactive regarding possibility of cross contamination. Other young female server looked like she didnt want to be there, made a face when asked for the menu, and was the opposite of the male server in every way.If you have a mango allergy, they do store mango together with other produce, and use the same cutting board and wok. We took a chance knowing I may get probably a slight case of hives (in the Mission and really wanted some Burmese) because we were some of the first customers of the day, and they checked that no one had cut/cooked mangoes yet.

Tokyo Sushi
27039 McBean Pkwy, Valencia, CA 91354, United States
One of the biggest challenges in moving to the area in Valencia coming from the west side of LA is the lack of choices of great quality restaurants in terms of food and service. I still used to drive to WLA / W Hollywood/ Santa Monica / BH area for my usual go to restaurants, specially more so when it comes to sushi! But, because I wanted to get to know the new neighborhood I am in, I have tried several sushi places, in vain. Then one day, while I was at the next door Pete's coffee, I saw a sign ( in a banner saying new management, TOKYO sushi, Grand Opening!) And so I did come and try with my son and my daughter-in-law. My gosh! I'm so happy I did! The service is amazing and everyone is very friendly, including the husband and wife owners!Such a great find for us! It's also a very quiet place where you can actually bring business partners for meetings and spacious enough if you wanted a private dinner party with no loud ridiculous music! It's actually very relaxing to go to this place unlike the other places I've checked out in Santa Clarita.Their fish is always fresh! Love ordering my always fresh toro sushi / sashimi here, along with their Santa Barbara fresh uni! And if I feel like super hungry, I like ordering their Bento boxes. But if I want to watch my diet, I can go for their poke bowl. They have great sashimi as well and lots of awesome choices of rolls, but they can custom make anything for you as well.I can't understand how this place is not as trending as all the other sushi places here in Santa Clarita that are so hyped up! This place serves great quality of fresh fish and the service is impeccable! And oh, they also have a loyalty points incentive that I just discovered also as well!Do yourself a favor… if you like good quality of food and awesome service with a nice, quiet unassuming ambiance, go and try Tokyo Sushi next to Peet's Coffee by the Homegoods shopping complex on McBean Parkway!Parking is ample and easy / plenty!

I came here for brunch a couple weeks ago with my wife and a few friends as our very first dine-in restaurant since the pandemic started and it did NOT disappoint!Ive always enjoyed asian fusion restaurants (if its done right), but most of these restaurants primarily focused on dinner, this may be the first asian fusion brunch restaurant Ive been to. Not gonna lie, I was a bit skeptical at first, but this place really hits it out of the park. Their menu selection has just the perfect balance of go-to brunch dishes with an asian twist to them.Even though our entire party were all vaccinated, were all still a little bit covid paranoid and it was very reassuring seeing how spread out the tables were inside the restaurant. At the end of the day, its a restaurant looking to turn a profit, so we didnt tables to me yards apart, but it was enough for our entire party to be extremely comfortable. Our waitress also stayed masked up the entire time and was super friendly throughout our time there. Now, on to the part that were REALLY here for...the food!We ordered family style so that we could try as many things as possible. We ultimately ordered 6 dishes split between 5 people.Crab Omelette - my favorite here. The eggs were on point, the avocado & chilis added a nice kick to it, and most importantly, they do NOT skimp on the crab whatsoever. Mamas in North Beach has always been my favorite crab omelette in the city but this one gives Mamas a run for its money.Steak & Eggs with Chimichurri - Ive always loved steak & eggs, whether its making it at home or whenever I ate at a diner so its always been an all time favorite for me and I must say, I never thought of adding chimichuri to this dish and theirs really took this dish to another level.Korean Chicken & Waffles - waffles? good. korean chicken wings? really good. Together in a single dish made both even better! I was always used to regular fried chicken with waffles, but the korean chicken wings made this even better. The bit of spiciness in the korean chicken wings really put a kick with the waffles that Ive never experienced.Poached Chicken Porridge - this was ordered by someone in our party and I wouldnt have ordered it myself. Growing up in a Chinese household, jook was a staple dish...and I ALWAYS hated it. It was always just so bland. No flavor and just bits and pieces of meat (if there even was any). Alnicos may have been the first porridge dish Ive ever enjoyed in my life. The depth of flavors was something I never associated with jook and just like the crab omelette, they did NOT skimp on the meat here.Pork Belly & Beans - this was probably the most questionable dish on the menu when we were ordering. The description didnt really stand out much and we were pretty close to not ordering it, but Im glad we decided last minute to add it as well because it turned out to be one of my favorite dishes of the day. The pork belly was perfectly cooked, just the perfect amount of crunch and incredible depths of flavors.Ube Pancakes - I was never a fan of pancakes, I always preferred the crunchiness of waffles (see above), but Ive always LOVED ube. Ive only ever had this dish at a restaurant in Honolulu and taking a bite into these brought me back to the beaches of Oahu. The ube pancakes combined with the coconut flakes was just on point. It was so good, it was half gone by the time any of us realized we forgot to take a photo of it!Our waitress also mentioned they may be offering dinner in the future and if their dinner menu is as good as their brunch menu, I look forward to making a return for dinner! All in all, it was a wonderful experience and the food was great!Alnico was every bit worthy of our first dine-in meal after getting fully vaccinated.Hell, Id go even if I didnt get the vaccine yet!Might even be worth it if a vaccine didnt exist!Just kidding...not really...

Sushi Shio

Went for Valentines Day, met with disappointment. Had a 9:30pm reservation, didn't get seated until 10 (others around me had to wait up to an hour past their reservation times). Not a single one of the wait staff acknowledged the wait or apologized (first time I've ever experienced this kind of delay at a restaurant), had to aggressively flag people down to even check in, otherwise we were left unattended at the front (and no ETA given). The food itself was decent, 6/10 - fresh fish but inconsistencies in how they used the wasabi and some errors in the order that they plated compared to the menu list (and the staff wasn't explaining it either). Their fatty tuna was the worst fatty tuna I've had at an omakase because it was sinewy, also flavor was off. The rest of the fish was fine. I was impressed by the non sushi dishes, shoutouts to the abalone risotto.TL;DR - the poor service combined with the slightly above average food quality does not justify the $125 price tag I paid. Maybe I'll come back one day, but not willingly in this lifetime

Gyu-Kaku Japanese BBQ
27025 McBean Pkwy, Valencia, CA 91355, United States
Three of us ordered the Beyond Bibimbap Bowl. Weve had this dish before from the Sherman Oaks location and loved it. It really missed the mark here. The menu photos (and our memory of this dish) show it served with white rice laced over the toppings. In this case we were served what seemed like fried rice with so little of anything else in it. Theres an option to order double of the Beyond meat which we didnt do because, again, weve had this dish before from the other location and felt it wasnt necessary. In this case, the Beyond meat was such a non-presence in all three of our bowls. There was so little of it...and in fact so little of anything else but the rice...hardly any mushrooms, the onions had some presence. And it just plain didnt taste good...This location should examine there own menu photos of what this dish should look like and provide at least a noticeable presence of the main ingredient thats in the title of the dish. Also the edame side we got was very overcooked. Our kid who devours edamame said how do they screw up edamame. We dont know son, they just did.The vegetable spring rolls werent bad, the miso soup too...but the Beyond Bibimbap Bowl which is one of only 2 vegetarian mains on their menu was just terrible and has turned us off from trying this location again.

No its definitely not fancy or a date venue but pho is good, service is usually pretty fast and its the only pho place I know of that also has a sister Korean restaurant right next door that allows you to order from both menus (warning - Korean food is about 1.5x to 2.5x more expensive per person and service isnt as great but food is quite good for what it is).

Olive Seed
4901 Valencia Ave., Yorba Linda, CA 92886, United States
First visit to the Olive Seed. IMO, they have a better rating. We stopped for a quick bite. One orders at the counter. The menu is very impressing. Although against my better judgment, I ordered the braised beef Eggs Benedict. My husband ordered brioche French toast with glazed fruit on top. It was astonishing what was presented. My eggs Bennies ws perfect. It was served with a small amount of salad on top of an ample amount of the roast beef. The hollandaise sauce over it was spot on! I requested the tater tots which were hot and crispy. I also ordered a cappuccino which arrived hot (not luke) and it was delicious. We will certainly return to try other items off the menu. Although my Benedict was a wonderful and unexpected surprise. It will be difficult to order anything else. They are literally right door to Bristol Farms. Near Yorba Linda and Imperial Highway in Old Town Yorba Linda.

If I could give 0 stars I would. I dont normally shop here and I will never be back again. I went up to pay for my 3 items at your store and was completely ignored through out my entire transaction.Due to covid sanitation measures, I wait for the cashier to signal to me that she or he is ready for me to come forward and set my items down. The cahsier and bagger were so locked into a conversation that they never ever once acknowledged me. No eye contact. No wave. Nothing. I slowly tipped toed forward maybe thinking Im out of her vision and said hi, how are you? Nothing. Still locked in their conversation. I tip toe forward a little more and repeat myself. Still locked in their convo. I am once ignored. I set my items down and she begins to ring me up, and considering I had 3 items I mentioned that I do not need a bag, and that I have my own. Still. Locked in their conversation, I am merely a ghost, I am once again ignored and my items are bagged anyway. Finally I realized your two employees were not going to acknowledge my existence. I paid, said thank you and have a nice day and still, not ONE word was said to me by your employees. Not. One. I could have been lit on fire and they would have never known. Im not asking for a life story, just acknowledge my human existence. I no longer have my receipt so I couldnt tell you who assisted me, but I do suggest letting your employees know that a simple hi, thank you and youre welcome goes a long way.I will continue shopping at Sprouts, where their employees not only greet you, but geniuly care about their customers.

Mr. Sushi
23360 Valencia Blvd, Valencia, CA 91355, United States
Worst Sushi and Service of my life. Let me preface this by saying Im easy going - always cut places slack. It was really busy tonight etc. Even so, I am well-traveled and have a seasoned pallet. I know what to expect in different environments. I cannot remember a time where I left a place so put off and concerned that I wanted to warn other patrons. So what gives? This night was like Hells Kitchen meets Leaving Las Vegas. Why the utter lack of quality, and customer service Mr. Sushi? An off night? I think its much, much more than that. This goes up to management and it needs to be addressed. And I feel its worth sending a warning to future patrons about possible health code violations. Our night begins. After a 30 minute wait to be seating, not long for Friday night, we take our place at the corner of the Sushi bar. Space seemed friendly, clean and one of three Sushi Chefs takes our order almost immediately. All seems on the up and up. We decide to go with the all you can eat, which for me is about 1/2 a roll. I have a small appetite. I dont mind though because I have some favorites here. One is the Jalapeno mussels. My husband and I each order some. Mr. Happy says Yes, of course, what else would you like? My husband orders the Seaweed Salad, which arrives quickly and is up to par. I am content to wait for my mussels. How about cucumber salad the chef grins at me? Im thinking this is Soon a huge plate of sweet soggy, oily brown cucumbers are plopped in front of me.Ugh, I grimace at my husband. This taste horrible. ): If I had, know that would be the last food wed get over 30 minutes I might have been a little more enthusiastic. In that time, we watched Mr Happy fling his sauces, spin, twirl and pirouette through the sushi bar. We waited some more. After 30 minutes, I flagged down a waiter and ordered Tempura.Catching Mr Happys attention proved more of a challenge. His eyes darted here and there but seldom focused on anything. Are our Mussel orders on their way? Yes, Yes. Theyre coming. He stumbled to what looked to be a small oven and came back with a beer in his hand. Then I watched stumble to the kitchen and do a spectacular twirl back to us with a large piece of food hanging out of his mouth. Im not sure what it was, a sandwich? I was thinking, Well at least he gets to eat.I got someone elses attention and order a roll for myself...asked if it could be a small one, half an order. Why waste food? The happy drunk chef scoffed at me. NO. it cannot vary from my menu. Huh? I am asking for less food. We waited again...tick tock, tick tock. Tick tock. My husband repeated our orders. Finally, Mr Happy, or Mr. Inebriated, started cracking jokes about no White Man Rolls. I only make Mexican Rolls then inquired about getting a job as a plumber with another customer. Evidently he too sensed his limitations as a Sushi Chef.So the night ends. I was served one disaster of a roll, messy, tasteless and Ive felt unwell since tasting it. My husband received several pieces of Sushi, almost all the wrong fish. Salmon shouldnt be hard to decipher for a Sushi Chef. We never did see our Mussels. So basically our dinner consisted of soggy cucumbers and seaweed for dinner and a hefty $65 + bill. Thats a bit much in my opinion. We told the waiter I only had the one roll, but no one cared. Thats the part that bothered me the most. Restaurants are a service industry. Places that succeed are ones that care about their customers. We were there for at least 145 minutes. Dont ignore us because we are kind, well-mannered people.I went out on a date night with my husband and ended up with an empty wallet, and sick stomach. Hoping food poisoning isnt the icing on the cake. So bad fish, bad service, and questionable actions of the staff....hmmm. How many other Sushi choices are there in Santa Clarita? Dozens...maybe more. Why would we choose to go back again?
