PHO BOI Dimsum & Noodles House
1252 E Mission Rd, San Marcos, CA 92069, United States
I had been hankering for some pho all week. So when the weekend came I decided it was time to grab some. We didnt want to drive too far and we so Pho Time had great reviews so we decided to check it out.Its a great little hole the wall Vietnamese restaurant. The service was friendly and prompt. We were seated quickly and were promptly helped with our order. My wife and I are Rare Steak Pho eaters 100% of the time. We dont deviate too much, so thats exactly where we went to on the menu. We ordered large bowls and were excited for our experience. The bowl was huge and broth was very flavorful. One of the better pho bowls Ive had in awhile. The meal came with the standard fixings of vegetables to throw into the soup. This was some great pho, and I was not dissapointed at all. The rest of the menu looked amazing and am looking forward to coming back to try something else. I really liked that this wasnt like most Vietnamese restaurants that have a 30 page menu, it was simple and perfect. We will be back for sure.
Panda Garden
742 S Rancho Santa Fe Rd, San Marcos, CA 92078, United States
Firstly, I normally do not go out of my way to give negative reviews. I only do so rarely and if I feel that there is a very good reason for it.I DO want to say that the people there are very friendly. The manager/owner greeted me pleasantly and the waitresses were also very nice. Normally I go to Pan Asia Buffet off of Nordahl drive in front and to the left of Walmart. The food there is exquisite EVERY time! Ironically, the people there are not terribly friendly, but the food is absolutely excellent! However, I was tired after working today, and my bank is in the same parking lot as Panda Garden (Citibank by Del Taco) I didnt feel like going all the way across town to the always dependable Pan Asia Buffet, so I thought that well since I am here, why not... I ordered the very simple honey spicy shrimp with a few added pieces of chicken. Both the shrimp and the chicken were SUPER tough and hard and I could honestly barely chew them.I ate about 1/3 of my dinner and I just could NOT finish it. It was so awful, I didnt really want to take the rest of it home. I politely told the waitress, almost apologetically, that the food was just too tough and I couldnt finish it. Interestingly, NO apologies were given, NO comments, NOTHING... AND, to add insult to injury, even though I left about 2/3 of the food on the table, they still had the nerve to charge me full price WITHOUT ANY APOLOGY, COMMENT, NOTHING! So, I quietly paid the $20 or so for about 5 or 6 pieces of tough, almost inedible chicken and shrimp.I see people go in there, and I guess they have their regulars. I cant imagine WHAT the hell they order, but what I had was truly atrocious AND I really did NOT appreciate that they made absolutely NO effort even to apologize or adjust the price, again, NOTHING! So, I felt that I really had to come here and leave this review.I just simply will NEVER EVER go there again. I will make the drive across town to the Pan Asia Buffet, no matter HOW bloody tired I am, and for about the same price, maybe a few dollars more, I can have an absolutely LOVELY dinner with delicious food and a HUGE variety (I most highly recommend the teriyaki chicken, it is to friggn DIE for! ?)

Yesterday I happened to witness a woman accidentally tear off the skid plate on her SUV from a curb stopper in front of Noodles & Co. in San Marcos. After hearing the horrendous sound I saw a couple of guys immediately jump to her aid so I thought no need to assist. After placing my order I step back outside and the women was now alone with two kids desparately trying to get a hold of her husband with no help in sight.I got the jack out of my car and start raising the front end to attempt to push the skid plate back into place.Plenty of people walked by without even bothering.SPOILER ALERT: I know next to nothing about cars but I was at least trying. I was just the guy who happened to have a shiny new jack and tire iron that saw it happen and felt morally obligated to assist.Truth be told I wasnt even sure I was doing it right and was a little concerned that I was going to damage her car further.Thats when the CEO of CID Auto Body & Paint showed up and jumped in to help her (and me) without hesitation. He was dressed really nice in slacks, button up, and nice dress shoes but he didnt even hesitate before crawling around on the ground and getting his clothes and hands dirty. He obviously had plans to be somewhere else doing something else but he stayed until the skid plate was sufficiently neutralized from additional damage and would at least get her home or to the nearest body shop. After he was all done he mentioned that he had an auto body shop and gave her a card. There was never any pressure or quid pro quo like I will help you out now but you have to take it to my shop immediately. It was more like calming her down on how bad the damage was and repair cost from someone in the know with credentials to prove it.The husband showed up right as we were wrapping up and thanked us profusely. Frankie, the CEO, didnt stop there. He removed the jack and carried it over to my car and helped me put away the jack and tire iron then he introduced himself to me as the CEO and gave me his card.I just thought to myself if he is willing to do this for complete strangers and on his personal time outside of the office, I can only imagine how he treats his actual customers and what lengths he goes to help them with their auto body and painting challenges.Needing auto body work isnt something you ever hope for or even plan for. Its more of a trauma you experience coupled by having to quickly find a company you can trust only adds to the trauma. Thankfully, I have already found the right company now I just hope I will never need them. Thanks for restoring my faith in humanity Frankie.
Eugenio Italian Ristorante
679 S Rancho Santa Fe Rd, San Marcos, CA 92078, United States
Eugeno Italian Restaurant in San Marcos, CA. Wow, what a wonderful find. This Italian restaurant is truly special. Appertizes, entrees, and deserts are all special recipes you do not normally find in a small, intimate neighborhood restaurant. We truly enjoyed the:Calamari ( fresh, tender, and plentiful )Special garlic bread ( made with a special bread that takes two days to rise )Lobster bisque ( a large bowl of savory bisque with floating croutons and cheese )Salmon capachio ( fresh and delightful)Veal pamagnano ( two huge cutlets in a wonderful meat sauce with pamagnano cheese with pesto rigatoni on the side. Veal comes with roasted potatoes and vegetables or a side of pasta.Lasagna (one of the best meat sauce recipes I have ever had)The desserts were wonderful. Creme brulee and tiramisu were fantastic. We took home plenty of everything for our next days lunch.Remember to make a reservation as seating is limited. ¹Dont hesitate to try Eugenios Italian Restaurant.Anna and Tim will take care of all your meal needs.
Banh Mi San Marcos
706 S Rancho Santa Fe Rd, San Marcos, CA 92078, United States
French Baguettes at a Vietnamese restaurants. Well to be fair this place is all about the sandwich and less about say Vietnamese food. The equivalent to the po boy. Its a skinny French baguette filled with assorted meats, daikon, jalapeno, carrots and a buttery mayo. After years of latenight Lees in Orange county I was craving something a little closer to home. Lees has the distinction of being open late, really late and having a large menu of inexpensive, what I call snacks, 1 is never enough. This is not lees, they are larger, meatier, but for some reason I still prefer the daikon and slightly less expensive version from Lees. I like the larger, softer rolls they use here and man do they slather on the buttery mayo. It either masked the jalapeno or the jalapeno was weak and didnt complete the flavor experience. I love how their #1 is just a combination of 4 other sandwiches. Came out pretty quick and just a part of a ducket more expensive they get the leg up on the bread alone. The shop is small and they offer a clear noodle soup which sounded interesting, probably not pho, but something else. Ill be back, I must make the menu my own.
Curry Craft Nordahl - Indian Restaurant & Cater...
763 Center Dr Suite #101, San Marcos, CA 92069, United States
Food: 4/5Service and Setting: 3/5Value: 3/5I have been visiting new areas and found Curry Craft and decided to visit. The restaurant is spacious and clean, in particular the buffet section looks very well maintained. Going in, you sort of just serve yourself. When I found someone who worked there, he just gestured to me to eat haha. After you get some food and sit, they will bring you a pitcher of water and ask what type of naan you would like. It is a dollar more for garlic naan. Curry Craft's food is a notch up from the typical Indian buffet and worth a visit! I read a passionate review from someone saying that the food was very spicy, but I found it to have almost 0 heat, but rather everything sort of leaned on the saltier end. I wish that they would put napkin dispersers on all of the tables as it was very odd to sit down and forget to grab them at the buffet, but everything else was great! The water glasses were particularly well cleaned. I have arranged the foods from best to worst for your ease of reading! The ratings are done on a buffet scale, not a normal scale.Bhindi Masala: 5/5This is the crown jewel of this buffet. It was absolutely delicious with a unique seasoning. Be warned, as you eat it the slimy texture of the bhindi (okra) will start to manifest itself, but this is seriously delicious and well made!Tandoori Chicken: 5/5They do a good job with this dish here. Each piece has a nice bit of char, though I legit got a leg that turned into charcoal. It is not too dry and has a deep savory flavor. I think this tandoori chicken can hold up against any non-buffet version! A pricey item and a great option if you want a straight protein.Vegetable Pakora: 4.5/5This is one of the better vegetable pakora I have had even in non-buffet style restaurants. The pakoras were not dry and the batter coating the veggies was fully cooked. The pakoras are mostly onion and have a strong yet sweet taste. This dish was particularly salty.Dal Makhani: 4.5/5This was pretty standard. I like my dal makhani to have a lot of deep flavor. This was not that, but it did have a rich creaminess and solid nonetheless.Garlic Naan: 4/5Great naan! It was crispy, fresh, buttery, and had tons of garlic and cilantro. The only thing that was odd was that I felt that it did not match the food. The copious amounts of garlic were unable to be tamed by the mild curries served, it may be in your best interest to get plain!Gulab Jamun: 4/5I definitely prefer warmed gulab jamun, but cold was a refreshing way to end the meal.Paneer Pakora: 3.5/5I think they put this out by mistake, but I got the last one. Bland by nature, the paneer pakoras were lightly battered.Chana Masala: 3/5I love me some chana masala but I was disappointed that it tasted fairly generic with a little extra cardamom.Butter Chicken: 3/5The butter chicken is better than the chicken curry and has a very familiar taste. I found it to be a bit too rich with dairy.Raita: 2.5/5I liked their raita though it was very cucumber forward. Slightly thicker than what I am used to.Samosa: 2.5/5Like most of the food, pretty standard. I found the wrapper to be quite thick and the filling to be the most salty of the food here. This was surprisingly the spiciest thing I ate with a clear kick of chili.Chicken Curry: 2.5/5This one was pretty average, almost forgettable.Vegetable Korma: 2/5I was never a fan of vegetable korma and Curry Craft's version is similar to the rest. It was a creamy and sweet curry with a mixture of veggies.Mango Lassi: 2/5I bought this separately and it was pretty meh. It was very sweet and thick and not cold enough.Rice: 2/5The rice tasted pretty fresh but the overall bite was dry.Saag Paneer: 1.5/5I found the taste of this to be slightly odd. It had a gluey texture and was bland in the oddest way, very hard to explain.Kheer: 1/5Kheer is literally my favorite dessert and I was so sad when I tried it. There was a distinct Windex flavor that never seemed to go
Ramen Mik
157 N Twin Oaks Valley Rd UNIT 132, San Marcos, CA 92069, United States
This is a new ramen location in San Marcos. Here are my straight forward notes.Food: 5/5I ordered the takoyaki to start and a bowl of the Me So Delight Ramen. The takoyaki was nice and crispy on the outside with nice tender pieces of octopus on the inside. The takoyaki had a nice drizzle of Kewpie Mayo that didn’t drown out the flavor. The ramen was very rich and flavorful. It did have a hint of salt on the back end but not to overpowering. The noodles were nice and supple. The char su pork was really on point but the egg was the star. It was super rich and was definitely still soft in the middle. Overall very nice bowl of ramen and takoyaki.Service: 5/5I felt the service was fine. There were two waitresses and they were sweeping through the dining area quick and overall were attentive to everyone that was in the restaurant.Ambiance: 4/5Definitely much more simplistic feel. No real decor on the walls and lighting is toned down. It actually reminds me a lot of ramen shops in actually Japan. The only thing they are missing is the ticket machine ?. They are getting a 4/5 because I do wish it was a bit more lit in the restaurant but I’m nitpicking.Overall score: 4.5/5Can’t really complain about this ramen shop. Menu is simple, easy to understand, and the food is solid. I definitely recommend and will comeback.
Muay Thai Kitchen
740 Nordahl Rd, San Marcos, CA 92069, United States
I used to have a good review about this place and would have recommend it, until now. They dont really have AMAZING food but it was good enough in a pinch for some thai food. I would swing by this place out of convenience but now its more inconvenient than not. I get my order about 45 mins before closing I order two small dishes nothing demanding no alterations. I also made this order with all tofu and requested that and confirmed it with the woman on the phone. Long story short I come home and there is shrimp instead of tofu. By the time I get to my box theyre closed. No big deal I toss the box and figure Ill call the next day. I call the restaurant to let them know and they actually demand I PROVE the order was wrong. I told them I tossed the food and that seems like a wierd request to ask for a picture. Moving on I decided it wasnt handled with respects to the customer or self responsibility over a small mistake that could have easily been corrected with a replacement and not a once over by staff and requesting proof of the error. Im done here. There are plenty of restraunts that would have just replaced it apologized and moved on. There are alot of other REALLY great thai places around town. Some I havent tried yet. Ill be looking forward to trying all of the other thai places because this place isnt worth supporting.
China Bros
137 S Las Posas Rd Suite 150, San Marcos, CA 92078, United States
Youre average joe Chinese spot in a pretty easy-to-get-to location. I had the lunch special which comes with egg drop soup, which was perfect for the sore throat I had going on.I had the hot garlic cause with chicken option which was definitely hot enough to cause me to sweat but definitely not overpowering. Im a spicy eater, so it will definitely be on the spicer side for some! Lunch Special was enough to fill me up when I was hungry ?The experience would be about middle of the road between what you would have at Panda Wok off Rancho Santa Fe and Panda Express. Not as expensive as panda ex, but food is still good compared to the lower quality you would get at Panda Wok.With some of the cooks having a laugh/singing here and there, and exceptionally fast service with a clean dining area. Its much preferred over the cheaper establishment @ Panda Wok. Ill definitely be back!
Thai Thai San Marcos Restaurant
801 S Twin Oaks Valley Rd, San Marcos, CA 92078, United States
We have been going to Thai Thai Restaurant for years first at their Fallbrook branch and then in their Vista branch when they opened. When Thons crew moved to open the Oceanside branch we followed and now here in San Marcos. We love all kinds of food and often try new Restaurants but Thai Thai is the best Thai food weve been to in both customer service and taste. Over the years weve probably tried every dish in their menu and have no real complaints. Of course we have our favorites like Pineapple Fried Rice, Papaya Salad, Shrimp Fresh Spring Rolls, Mussaman Curry, Tom Kha Soup, and Tiger Cry Steak. All the dishes have options of proteins or vegetarian and spicy levels from 0-10. Im a wimp so 0 or 1 is my usual option while my son & hubby goes for 3-5. This is authentic Thai food so watch your spice level choice. The highest anyone of our friends and family has ever tried is an 8 (that was our first time ever) and no one in our group has gone that high since (hahahah). They have an excellent lunch menu that includes soup, Cucumber salad, and appetizers plus your choice of rice and main dish. They do serve beer, wine, and other beverages. I wish they served spiked Thai tea or spiked Thai Coffee (hahahaha).Overall, the price is about average, the variety of choices is superb, the ambiance is relaxing, the service is friendly & fast, and I would rate the food a 4.7 out of 5. I recommend you try Thai Thai Restaurant in San Marcos.
