Thai on Ventura
17544 Ventura Blvd, Encino, CA 91316, United States
We found this restaurant just by chance and saw the Yelp reviews, which motivated us to try it.The restaurant itself is small and they made the best of the limited space. Nevertheless the atmosphere is cozy, nice soft jazz music is playing in the background and it’s absolutely clean. The service is very friendly. The menu offers a big choice of different Thai food. I think everyone can find something to please their palate. We ordered chicken Satay as an appetizer. The chicken meat was deliciously flavored & juicy. The TOM KHA SEAFOOD SOUP(Coconut soup with mixed seafood, lemon grass broth, kaffir lime leaves, lime juice, coconut milk, mushrooms and fresh chili) was served in a flaming bowl to keep it hot. I ordered it medium spicy, which was quite hot enough for me. The taste of the broth was absolutely delicious, and it was loaded with succulent chunks of white fish, mussels and more shellfish. I loved it!My husband ordered PAD THAI (stir-fried rice noodles in special sauce with egg, bean sprouts, roasted peanuts, and green onions) with chicken. It was a huge portion, well flavored & delicious. The price, quantity and quality relationship is very fair for each dish!We will surely come back and try more of these delicious dishes.

California Pizza Kitchen at Encino

Worst restaurant and service. Take your business elsewhere. Took 15 minutes for our orders to be taken, since no waiter was available. Soup that I ordered was never served and waiter forgot about it. Simple cucumber drink took 10 minutes to be served because they didnt know how to make it. Very unpleasant, unprofessional service from waiter and all staff.

Look no further, tons of sushi restaurants on this block, stop here! My brother and I were driving around the valley looking for sushi spot at 8 pm on Friday evening and other spots were long wait or closing by 9 pm. Saw not much reviews on this place so was stoked to see what this spot is about.Well my brother and I were so glad we did! One of the best spots weve had, and Ive had sushi in motherland. When it comes to Los Angeles standard this place is the benchmark. The sushi and rolls here are not saturated with rice, its a perfect balance of fish with rice. Also their rice is delicious!Tried lots of items but you cant go wrong with anything here it seems. We ordered Toro, and baked salmon roll with eel and avocado and edamame with baked scallops. The service here is wonderful too! The owners are here jump starting the place and theyre lively and very sweet. The green tea is great too, the owner tries and drinks a lot of tea on her own time so she selects the stuff that she would drink herself. Make sure you try the mochi! Definitely coming back for other specials.
Mis Dos Cielos

This kosher Mexican restaurant was so awesome! The beef and chicken tamales were very delicious, and also the carne Asada taco was wonderful with a squeeze of lime. The tortilla soup was something like I’ve never had before, and I’ve made tortilla soup it originates from a part of Mexico with their own style recipes, somewhat spicy and unforgettable. We even ordered cactus tacos which is something I’ve never had before.The-atmosphere was nice and the place is clean. The service is very good. Highly recommend??
Shin Sushi
16573 Ventura Blvd, Encino, CA 91436, United States
Disclaimer: My visit to this restaurant took place over a year ago.I felt compelled to write this review after my recent visit to Japan and the experience I had with its incredible cuisine. After seeing Shin Sushi in the Michelin guide, I decided to book a reservation (required) for my birthday last year. The experience was quite a memorable one. The décor and general vibe of the restaurant certainly doesnt scream Michelin star, but the food more than makes up for this. The meal is Omakase style and started with an assortment of seasonal Japanese vegetables and small bites, each one unique and delicious. Then the sushi began and unsurprisingly was the star of the show. The chef took great care with each and every piece, expertly forming the sushi, explaining where the fish came from and what it meant to him personally. Every bite was bliss, washed down with what is the best miso soup (or any soup for that matter) Ive ever had - truly exceptional depth and balance of flavors. There was no dish that left me even slightly disappointed and dessert is highly recommended. It was extremely apparent that the chef wanted to provide the best culinary experience he could to each guest at his 8-seat sushi bar. On top of that, he was very friendly and a joy to converse with/learn more about.I felt compelled to write this review after my recent visit to Japan, where it was my mission to find excellent sushi almost everyday. I have to say that nothing we tried in Japan was equivalent to the meal we had at Shin Sushi (how lucky Angelenos are to have such incredible cuisine from so many different cultures). What a treat, I hope to be back soon.
Posto 896 Italian & Hungarian Cuisine
15615 Ventura Blvd, Encino, CA 91436, United States
My husband & I decided to try the Hungarian food from the Italian & Hungarian menu tonight. The soups, “Beef soup” & “Tarragon soup”, were served hot and with house-made bread. My main course was “Blood sausage and liver sausage, pan fried,“ and served with mashed potatoes (roasted potatoes were also available). My husband had „Chicken Paprikás with paprika, sour cream and homemade dumplings“. The dessert was called „Zserbo“, sweet yeast dough with walnuts, chocolate, and apricot jam. So absolutely delicious that we couldnt get enough of it!Every dish was authentic, and served in nice portions. I know that many people cannot imagine eating blood sausage, but if you had it before you would say theirs is excellent and very tasty. The very outgoing and friendly manager Péter (Pietro), is from Hungary, but also lived and worked in Naples, Italy, so spoke to guests in Hungarian, Italian or English.Because we asked, he explained where he got the recipes from. In addition to his time in Italy, he had worked at Ago, a very fine Italian Restaurant at which my husband had eaten several times, and has some dishes exactly as they were served there, with lots of family tradition for the Hungarian dishes. The service was fast, friendly, and pleasant, as was the atmosphere. You can have valet parking in front of the restaurant for $7, or find street parking. From our point of view, the food was delicious and everything was very promising. We saw many other menu items wed like to try, and will surely come back.

PastaBar
16101 Ventura Blvd #255, Encino, CA 91436, United States
For a place named Pasta Bar, pasta isn’t the star of the show. To be honest, I was a little confused on what concept they were going for - Italian? Asian? Seafood-focused (given its sister restaurant Sushi Bar)? But perhaps concept doesn’t matter when you should let the food speak for itself.Ultimately I felt that this menu lacked cohesion. The first course starts heavy with a salty kale salad topped with wagyu, followed by the sharp fish sauce pungency of a crudo second course. You are then introduced to the first pasta dish of the night, Dungeness crab enveloped by a sheet of pasta, which was just so-so. Then dinner proceeds with some tasty but juxtaposing courses: everything-bagel trout, spicy Calabrian ravioli, chicken with cherry sauce (fancy ketchup), and a woefully unassuming pork finale. I could pluck these menu items from different restaurant concepts.Pasta is just an accessory to the menu (except for the one truffle pasta dish that was the best one of the night). You would probably not notice nor miss it.The setting was intimate but luckily not stiff thanks to their hip hop playlist. Pacing could be improved. They talked at length about the sauce reductions that took hours to make. Yet the minute I finished the course, it would be whipped away - let me soup up the sauce with bread!Hoping this restaurant improves.
