California Pizza Kitchen at Marina Del Rey

Great ambiance. Great Pizza! its menu selections of quite improved over the years. Theres more finesse to The soups appetizers and beverages, wow! Feels festive. However, service on a weekday was a little bit slow and they ran out of bread and we had to ask twice for it until they told us they had to make more. And it didnt come out til the main course came out. Id like to have bread on the table within minutes after sitting down, just as fast as water comes out. That is a standard of a pizzeria or Italian restaurant. Most of the waiters are great. Depends who you get . Photo shows view from inside looking at cozy Marina Del Rey holiday mall setting.

Rojeh Melikian, MD - Spine Surgeon
4551 Glencoe Ave Suite #145, Marina Del Rey, CA 90292, United States
I have been dealing with neck and upper back pain that extended into my right shoulder and down my arm for pretty much the last decade. Herniated discs, spinal stenosis, cervical radiculopathy, spinal cord compression (thankfully without symptoms)—these words dominated my 30's and 40's. I have seen eight different spine surgeons in LA—orthopedic and neuro—as well as a handful of physical therapists, chiropractors, and physiatrists. Among this cast of characters were some highly decorated, highly recommended practitioners, who would look at my imaging, listen to me describe my symptoms, and then tell me something completely different from the last doctor I saw (who was also supposedly “the best.”) It was super frustrating.Until I saw Dr. Melikian. I think my appointment with him might have been the first one that didn't end with me crying in my car afterwards. He seemed like a *real person* who saw me as a *real person* too. He asked me what I did for a living, asked how old my kids were (I seriously don't think any of the previous surgeons EVER asked me that simple question!), and he listened intently. Does he remember the answers to those questions? Probably not, but I don't even care, because his bedside manner is phenomenal! He's also clearly knowledgeable about developments in spine therapeutics and technology, as well as the strengths and weaknesses of the different implants (but in no way tried to sell me on a particular product, which I felt a previous doctor did do.) Dr. Melikian spent time going over my imaging, gave me plenty of time to ask questions, and gave an objective assessment of the condition of my spine. He didn't dismiss or minimize, but he also didn't try to scare me or pressure me. (He even made me laugh—if you want someone with a real sense of humor, he's your guy!)But the most important thing he gave me, that no one else had given me yet, was simple: hope. Not false hope for perfection, but just realistic hope that he could actually help me feel better.I'm writing this review with tears of gratitude in my eyes, one week to the day after having a two disc replacement (c4-5 and c5-6). I woke up from the surgery as many others do, “pain-free,” but I knew I was on a ton of drugs and didn't want to get my hopes up. I didn't trust that the nothingness I felt in my right arm would stay once the narcotics wore off. (So I got off them as fast as I could!) All I can say is, so far, so good, and the hope is still going strong. My muscles and nerves are still recovering, but I just had my first post-op appointment (also satisfyingly thorough) and all is normal and progressing as expected.Everyone at the surgery center in Marina Del Rey was fabulous, by the way—the nurses, OR nurse, nerve monitor, and anesthesiologist (I forget his name, started with an “A”, but I got a rockstar there, too!) It was obvious they all held Dr. Melikian in high regard, too, and I felt secure, safe, and cared for, all around. (And I dont want to forget Cecilia, his assistant...she is competent and wonderful, too!)I can't believe that I waited as long as I did for this surgery, but I'm also glad I did, because it happened at the right time and place, with the right doctor. While ADR still seems like a young-ish procedure, even if something weird happens, or I have a new pain flare-up, or I need a subsequent surgery later on at a different level or something, I will go wherever Dr. M. is. He has my complete trust, and my spine is (literally!) in his hands from now on. I wouldn't have found my way to him without these reviews, so maybe this will help someone else find him (and some hope!), too.

Nonstop Sushi & Sake Bar Marina Del Rey
4025 Del Rey Ave, Marina Del Rey, CA 90292, United States
Wondering what to do for date night? nonstop sushi is the spot. we came for early dinner at the marina del ray location where we enjoyed the patio and perfect sunny weather with our dog. we ate and left no crumbs.the food: we ordered a signature yummy yellowtail roll, a classic spicy salmon roll, and indulged in the nonstop sushi special. the nonstop special comes with 8 pieces, and we picked halibut (FRESH fish, just got in yesterday) spanish mackerel, yellowtail belly, and salmon belly.i gasped when i put the the yummy yellowtail roll in my mouth. the yellowtail was so fresh and it was a perfect blend of cilantro and ponzu. it was perfect - i didn't even need to add any other condiments to it. the spicy salmon roll was a classic, time-tested recipe. the nonstop special was so delectable - the fish was as smooth as butter.the service: shout out jake! i think he's the owner? he took care of us for the evening. he made sure we were fed and full, including our dog. thank you!
Irori Sushi

Omg this was amazing. You definitely get what you paid for - and more! You take your shoes off at the door, which was cool for us to do with our 3-year old who likes to take her shoes off anyway. You sit on the floor, but have a huge leg space below the table to set your feet if you want.We had sushi, miso soup, dumplings, and rice. Miso soup was something I’m used to (we’re from Georgia, btw), dumplings were so-so with me but my husband and daughter loved them, sauce was not my fave - but I think that’s the normal sauce it comes with, rice was super sticky and our daughter actually ate it! Back home she doesn’t like it - I guess because they don’t make it there like they did here - super sticky and soft. Even our 7mo old ate a decent bit because it was soft enough for him to gum!The sushi..I mean wow. Bravo. So fresh. Accommodating (I don’t care for cucumber in my rolls, but like cream cheese). And the eel sauce was perfect for me. It’s so thick at the restaurants I go to back home, but here it had a slightly thick consistency and was fabulous. The rolls? I was expecting like the ones back home where they’re kind of small. Oh no. These are massive. Philly Roll, for example, I’m used to being just one sliver of salmon and a small slice of either cream cheese, avocado, or both. I was a little hesitant when I ordered as it’s about $8(?), but wow. Dare I say I feel I was slightly under charged for what I got?? I even have a side, like in another roll, where the meat spilled out the back side, too! Very generous. We got the Rainbow Roll ($20) and the Spicy Tuna ($8.5?) as well. Rainbow roll was absolutely amazing, and the spicy tuna - well, that’s a ton of spicy in a ton of tuna. If you like it hot - that’s what you want to order. But, I’m not much of a spicy food person, so I could be whimping that a bit.(Sorry I can only add the pictures I can - it was all so good we ate it too fast!)All the servers are so nice and loved talking to our two kids. It was beyond cute. (Thank God our baby was in a good mood because it was way past his normal bedtime, though it was only 7 here - 10 back home.)Go! The sushi, omg. I had to order one more philly roll to go! So good. Can y’all move to Atlanta??
Moto Azabu Sushi Bar & Grill

Update 2022: We returned almost 3 years later and it is still our favorite sushi restaurant here. The service is truly extraordinary. Taka is wonderful and takes the time to talk to his customers. All of our food was incredible. Its worth every penny.2019: Would highly recommend! The sushi rolls were amazing! The CA roll was made with fresh fish, rather than the usual imitation crab. We could tell everything that we ordered was made fresh. The miso soup, the eggplant, the corn tempura, the rolls and edamame were delicious. One of the sushi chefs made us a special treat and it was much appreciated! The service was outstanding. We left wanting to go back.
J Nichols Kitchen

Went there for a business lunch and the service was good although the server kept bringing an incomplete order. No water even after it had been requested and also we asked for two of the salad dressings and she brought only one. The other issue we had is this is not a restaurant for vegetarians. The only vegetarians options are their sides and their side salad and possibly their soup. I had the tomato soup which was awesome. The sandwich portions looked like a lot of food and looked inspiring but I was not feeling a sandwich. The restaurant was busy and their is adequate parking.
LOCANDA POSITANO
4059 Lincoln Blvd, Marina Del Rey, CA 90292, United States
I recently took my 9 year old grandson in to live w me. He wanted spaghetti. Due to financial restraints we dont go out to eat, often, but I wanted a special night w him. We chose this place as it is close to home. First, parking is impossible. So you must pay $8.00 for Valet. 2nd the little front room was very crowded and noisy w one waiter. (I asked to sit in the back room and was told they only open the back room, too, on week-ends.) Menu= expensive. No child menu available. I asked Maitre d if a dish on the menu includes spaghetti. He pointed to Chicken parmesan. ($33.00) ( does not include a salad, soup or vegetable) I ordered one Chicken Parm dish and a side dish of Brussell Sprouts ($14.00) as the dish came w no salad, soup, or vegetable. Then the Maitre d proceeded to separate a 4 table in to a SMALL 2 table, after we had sat down.) = No room to keep water, water bottle, bread, 2 bread plates, two plates of food and a side of Brussel Sprouts ($14.00) on. So I placed our water bottle and brussel sprouts on table next to us which I told him, no one would sit at because it was against a wall on the left, and had a LARGE pillow on the cushioned seat=no room to get in/out) (Maitre d attitude, very snobby and not accommodating) He moved the Brussel Sprouts dish, BACK ONTO our tiny table.( The dish was half hanging off the table and I felt sure it would fall to floor.) There was no room for me to comfortably eat my food let alone, try to help my grandson. WHEN I CUT INTO THE CHICKEN PARMESAN I COULD NOT CUT IT. IT WAS AS HARD AS A ROCK. I mentioned this to the Maitre d and he wanted to remove my whole plate from me. The spaghetti and sauce was good ( thats why I give 2 Stars) Thinking back I should have demanded they make me another chicken parm. I asked for a sharp meat knife to cut it. I STILL COULD NOT CUT THE CHICKEN EVEN WITH A SHARP STEAK KNIFE. My grandson was getting upset and I had hoped for a pleasant evening without any stress on him. I think the chicken parm was pre-prepared and then stuck in microwave for too long. It was hard and rubbery. The food came out too fast for it to be freshly made. (Next week is my husband and my anniversary. I was going to go there. Not now. ) I paid $51.58 for ONE horrible chicken parm dish that I told waiter about and Maitre d that I could not eat the chicken. They were not concerned. No one offered to make me another chicken Parmesan. They just wanted to turn the table and did not want a scene. I will never go back. I cannot recommend. A dessert menu was offered to table next to ours. But not to us. Not fine dining. Terrible service
SUGARFISH by sushi nozawa
4722 Admiralty Way, Marina Del Rey, CA 90292, United States
So Im a Sushi lover. From the mountains of Hawaii to the Coast of Lebanon to the AYCE of Studio City Sushi Bars. But you know. This place just has that attractive dark side vibe.A late Monday night and the place is busy.I go alone. Bar seat for one please....5 min wait. Good deal.As soon as I am seated I am quickly greeted by a nice young lady who asks if this was my first time. I reply with a Yes and she says Welcome! Let me begin by breaking down the menu. All in all a simple menu. So I go with the Nozawa and a Water with Lemon to drink. The place has enough pictures on Yelp to show everything. The presentation is extremely simple and very consistent with what you see on Yelp. So dont worry. You will get your experience the exact same way.Now. There are people just Lally gaging and talking over a single piece of sushi for 10 min. And then they order again. Some people are doing the same Nozawa experience. The whole thing took about 20 min total. They start with your drink, edemame, and a small disc of Wasabi and ginger.I am not fond of the processed powder style wasabi. I like the real Wasabi. The real fresh grind wasabi. Which sadly they do not carry. I ask for a small side of Sudachi Ponzu. But regretfully to keep the Nozawa experience they do not give any out. I understand. So the sushi rolled out. With about 5 min between. Each presentations.Starting with the Tuna Poke. Good clean fresh. Nice small cuts and well soaked. The Albacore. Salmon were great. I also liked the Toro hand roll.I can go on and on. But the bottom line is. You get great sushi and a nice little worry free dinner. Just sit there and enjoy the time with a friend or a small group of 4 or 6 maybe. The place is definitely not big enough to handle large groups of 8 or more. The end you get a nice bill with gratuity included. So no real need to tip unless you want to give more then 16% that is already added.I had not eaten before going. So I was Huuuuuungry. I left feeling better but not full. So if your a big eater. Grab a small sandwich next door at Mandecino before your clean and easy experience at Sugarfish. An extremely nice once In a lifetime experience for me.But Im a Sushi holic so I crave large quantities of sushi all the time. So back to the slums of Midori Sushi AYCE I go.Ill probably be back one day, With my wife, On a date night since now she is jealous of my little rendezvous. But Im definitely grabbing a small bite to eat first.:)Enjoy!
VENICE RAMEN
515 Washington Blvd, Marina Del Rey, CA 90292, United States
Live right down the street, so I come here relatively frequently. Service is extremely quick and friendly.Dining area is fairly small, but there is a small counter seating area for solo diners. The place fills up, but Ive never had to wait for a seat.Restaurant has a small focused menu. I have tried a few different types of soup and the dumplings. I was not a huge fan of the dumplings. Soup is very good, although it can be a bit bland and Ive had better elsewhere. Is a bit overpriced compared to other hole in the wall Ramen places.
