This is one of our favorite Mexican Restaurants every time we get together in San Mateo. Its in Redwood city. The only thing negative about this place is to find a parking space. Most of the street parkings are closed off due to being worked on. I had to park 2 long blocks away and walk in the cold and light rain LOL.Anyhow, the restaurant is nice, high ceiling and quite big. The hosts are quite pleasant and helpful. We had to wait for all members of our party showed up to be seated even with reservation. The place is quite noisy from birthday parties to just plain get together like ourselves. The appetizers are quite tasty, we liked the nachos, guacamole, very rich and filling. The chips are light and crispy with 3 dipping salsa dishes. My Margarita was quite good although they only offer on rocks and not blended.Let me warn you, the dinner plates are very big, if you have the appetizer, its better to order a la cart instead of the whole combo plates of any kind. Youll be taking some home for lunch the next day.I ordered the fish taco plate, the fish wasnt breaded fried, not crispy like some other restaurants, but with all the veggies, quite tasty and no fish smell. The rice and beans were great, but its big so I took the rest home for lunch.Everyone in my family ordered different plates and theyre all huge and delicious from wet burritos, shrimps, salads, etc.The prices are a little high, average $30 a plate, but for the restaurants atmosphere, the area, I think its reasonable. The important thing is the service is attentive, fast, pleasant and the foods are excellent, except the walk back to our cars on the street.Ive been here twice and I do like it. Well always come here if Mexican food is desired.

Up until today one of my favorite lunch places in the area. Went there at least once a week for the past two years. My all time favorite is the Pesto Chicken Sandwich. Its served cut in half so you can perfectly see the bit-sized chicken strips. For the first time today, mine were cold and clearly pink inside. Its chicken, so I decided to have the sandwich replaced. Better safe than sorry. Went back to the register to quietly tell them about it. Spoke to the manager in charge, an older male who seemed like he would actually be the owner. Now, instead of acknowledging and being sorry for this, he first doubted that its actually raw inside and showed me a plastic bag of chicken mentioning that this is how we buy it and its already pre-cooked, obviously not realizing that the mistake could have been on the supplier side too. Showing him the pink chicken pieces one more time, he agreed to make me a new sandwich. Once I got it, he left with the words I hope this does it for you.Didnt say sorry once but actually made it sound like its my fault. While these things can happen, the owners attitude is not only out of place but outright ridiculous. Got him that 1-star review and lost him a life-long customer.

FETE FRAICHE INC

Cannot stop raving to friends about the food at Fete Fraiche, delivered to my door twice a week and never a disappointment. Marissa makes sure every dish is of high quality and so tasty. Farm to table, the food is beautifully presented in little brown boxes with perfect instructions for reheating. I suggest following the oven method but she gives microwave and stove top as well. I feel as if I have a restaurant styled meal every night. Make sure to get her Whole grain banana pancakes and/or Whole wheat blueberry cake, very healthy - no sugar added and yet beyond delicious! She just added her savoury scones and THAT is a must!!! Ask her about her Pistachio shortbread cookies. They are a slice of heaven and youll thank me for suggesting it.Basically, if you use DoorDash or other restaurants for dinner, you are missing out, they cant beat Fete Fraiches food, hands down. Ive ceased all other food services and delivery from restaurants, I am trying to diet and basically forget to eat. Marissa keeps me on target with all the fresh, healthy foods. I only have one issue: I have to order more servings now as my husband eats everything faster than I order. Oh and her Gazpacho soup!! Yum. Basically everything on her menus is worth it (they change their menu weekly with new yummies!!)

I recently dined at this newly opened restaurant and had a fantastic experience. The staff was incredibly friendly and provided top-notch customer service throughout my visit. I ordered the fish and chips along with a cup of drip coffee, and also tried their tomato soup of the day. Everything I tasted was absolutely delicious. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming, making it a great place to enjoy a meal. Ill definitely be returning for another delightful dining experience!
Falafel and things
975 Veterans Blvd, Redwood City, CA 94063, United States
I came here after seeing the very high reviews, and drove right by it since I didn't realize it was a food truck. Parking on a Wednesday night along the street was pretty tough but found a spot around the corner down the street (seems like there was a church service starting) I ordered ahead online and my food was ready when I arrived.Ordered the vegetarian plate, chicken and steak plate, and a hibiscus tea. Veggie plate came with three large falafels (crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside) three dolmas (fresh and tangy) babaghanoush (my favorite, smoky and creamy) hummus with some sort of creamy sauce on it (I'm never impressed with hummus so it was standard), a couple of pickles (too salty for my taste but my bf liked them) and shredded lettuce and cabbage/raw onion mix.For the chicken/beef plate I asked for extra hot sauce on the side but it came on top of the meat so it was too spicy for me to enjoy. The rice had good flavor and the pita was warm and soft but I couldn't eat much of it. Also came with lettuce/cabbage/onions.Hibiscus tea was very refreshing, I added club soda to it since I don't like drinks too sweet and it was perfect. There were a few gritty bits that took me by surprise that I think might have been from the sugar? But it was delicious.Overall, good value with the amount of food for slightly lower than usual Bay Area prices. I live in the city so would probably go back and try something else if I was in the area.
Taza Deli & Cafe

Walked there while waiting for new tires to be put on at American Tire. Everyone we spoke with at restaurant couldnt say enough good things about Taza Deli.
Sushi Shin
312 Arguello St, Redwood City, CA 94063, United States
If I could give 10 stars, I would, if I could give 20, I would too. This is a well-deserved, one star, Michelin, restaurant. Jason and Betsy, the host and master chef couple of Sushi Shin run the show with passion and love!Just by watching Jason preparing the food, and listening to his explanation of the origin of the materials of each dish, oh my, the restaurant becomes a sanctuary of Japanese cuisine.Everything is so uniquely and beautifully crafted. The layer, the texture, and the waves of aftertastes of each dish is an adventure of its own.The order of the appetizers, soup, tea dishes are also well-designed.Sharing this exclusive experience with another 9 guests is like attending a masterclass of Japanese Cuisine.Of course, the customer service is so good. Their friendliness and personal care makes you feel like a royalty, yet very homie as well.Oh yeah, remember to check the restroom. A very classic Japanese experience as well. We’ve been there twice. Highly recommend!!

This is my #1 favorite Mexican place in Silicon Valley! Their veggie items are especially delicious — they fry up all the veggies with fresh garlic when you order. Yum! I recommend the veggie quesadilla. Also appreciate the free chips and salsa with your order :). It's an independent restaurant and The owners are really nice. Ranzan
921 Main St, Redwood City, CA 94063, United States
Kaiseiki Dreams ?**4.5 Stars**I first made reservations at Ranzan in Redwood City over two years ago. Shortly before our dinner, the pandemic shut down indoor dining and our dinner was not meant to be.But because of that reservation, I was on Ranzan’s mailing list and among the first to know of their take-out offerings. Those take-out offerings, in particular their saba sushi, became my favorite pandemic takeout item and I was lucky to order many timesFlash forward to today with indoor dining at full capacity and strict takeout only a memory for many, I had an opportunity to return to RanzanRanzan specializes in Kaiseiki or a style of Japanese dining featuring numerous, small intricate dishes and popular in cities like KyotoHidden on an unassuming street in downtown, Ranzan features the full Kaiseiki experience in ways that made me reminisce about both ryokan and Kaiseiki dinners I had in JapanThe space is quiet and serene with high ceilings and the service is warm and friendly with the servers in full kimono both polite and happy to answer questions about every dishHaving tried all of Ranzan’s takeout offerings, I wasn’t sure what to expect but I can happily share that my meal exceeded my expectations and is one of my best meals this yearThe food is not only beautiful but a labor of love with numerous dishes featuring touches and additions that all amplify and enhance the excellent flavorsEveryone loves the A5 Miyazaki Wagyu and fresh sashimi but I found joy in even the simpler items like corn soup, potato dumpling and asparagus jellyFor those with a special occasion or who wish to be reminded of Japan, Ranzan is very special indeed. Wakuriya and the former Kaygetsu are the best known Kaiseiki restaurants in the Bay Area, but I’d now firmly put Ranzan on that list too? Takao May Menu $228/pp / Asparagus Jelly / Dry Aged Cucumber and Karasumi / Fried Baby Sweetfish, Green vegetables with tofu sauce, Nagaimo and okura / Corn soup / Sashimi ~ Kochi, Hamo, Shimaaji / Potato Dumpling / Ginger Sorbet / A5 Wagyu / Uni So-men / Chawanmushi English Peas / Abalone Soup / Anago tempura / Mozuku with agar jelly and scallops / Hagama rice with octopus / Miso soup with Eggplant and scallions / Minazuki?Ranzan (Redwood City, CA)
