Tofu King
5394 Walnut Ave, Irvine, CA 92604, United States
No longer a cash only restaurant, they require a minimum to run a credit card. One of our favorite places for Taiwanese cuisine and especially the stinky tofu— one of the best places in LA. Need to add the chili sauce to the tofu and the preserved cabbage to complete the true Taiwan experience.
Kaju Soft Tofu Restaurant
5408 Walnut Ave, Irvine, CA 92604, United States
I always loved kaju but this spot is even better. the employees is what makes it great.I usually eat the usual here because its what I crave for. I always wanted to try other things but my usual just wins all the time hahaMy usual:The highest level of tofu soup with intestines. My friend told me to get oysters and add intestines, and this time I did that. GAME CHANGER!!! SO GOOD! getting this way from now on...alwayswith that, will get beef galbi.my friends and I would just share a combo and order an extra tofu soup so we dont have to share.New things I tried:Seafood Pancakes - ahhh love it. it is packed with all these seafood. every bite literally has seafood in it. Shrimp, octopus, etc. its huge too! You either just have to eat that solo and not order anything else or share it with friends. I recommend sharing it. Only thing I would request is have they make it more crispy.Bibimbap... I never tried it at Kaju and wanted to. I couldnt decided which one to choose from. Either the mushroom or seafood. I thought, lets keep this day all seafood. and wow! glad I chose seafood. I now know that I will be ordering this in the future.

Saiga Vietnamese Eatery
17805 Sky Park Cir Suite B, Irvine, CA 92614, United States
Okay, I feel so relaxed right now. Its been super hot outside around like 90 something degrees on average. I know the first people think of when they see a Vietnamese restaurant is pho. Theres so much more stuff to eat besides pho though.I noticed Saiga opened a restaurant in Orange and decided to check it out. Their first location was in Irvine in the Sky Park Circle area near where I usually got o get my haircut and that location was really good and I did try their pho and egg banh mis there. However, this location is a bit different. They dont have pho on their menu, but Im honestly okay with that cause there are so many pho places. The point is it was so hot today and the most relaxing thing right now is a refreshing drink and some garlic noodles. That plus eating on the beach is literally the most relaxing day.I ordered their garlic noodles with pork belly cause pork belly is nice and tender and they add plenty of garlic and its just relaxing. I also tried a tofu roll from another restaurant not too long ago which made me feel inclined to get their tofu banh mi. Their tofu banh mi is so crispy. I chose to get to without cilantro and jalapenos which is perfect for me.I also got some of their drinks cause its super super hot outside. Their lychee lemonade is more on the sweeter refreshing summery side and their lychee green tea is a bit less sweet and kinda reminds of the green tea bases for boba drinks. Im not sure which one I like more. I think it basically depends on my mood though.Their location here isnt super big, but definitely bigger than their Irvine location. Definitely grab a bite here and head to the beach. So bomb!
Rooster & Rice
15354 Alton Pkwy, Irvine, CA 92618, United States
Im so happy this location is open now! The food is DELICIOUS - really tender and juicy chicken, flavorful sauces, fluffy rice... its a simple, quick meal that tastes amazing but still feels healthy. I got the Original and the popcorn chicken and loved both. Also, parking is easy and the service was efficient and friendly, so basically I think Ive found my new regular lunch spot.Side note - They had a really cool balloon arch for their grand opening, and the inside in general is on point (clean, good decor, and the mural on the wall is soo cool how it incorporates all the big landmarks/symbols of OC). Seems random to mention these things, but I personally love when restaurants/businesses show this level of careful thought and fine-tuned detail because you just know that it translates over into the quality and care of their food, how they run the kitchen, etc. Cant wait to come back, Im craving their popcorn chicken again already!!
Jopok Topokki Irvine
3825 Alton Pkwy, Irvine, CA 92606, United States
I really love the quality of food here, they are very delicious, fast service and very kind, and it feels like I'm almost in Korea. Korean Sausage and spicy rice cake (Topokki) are my favorite Korean food but I couldnt find anywhere around here that has the good taste and quality I wanted. Now I found a place in Irvine!! I feel so lucky. I usually get Korean Sausage and Topokki but yesterday I tried different menus from there, which were Kimbap, Rose Topokki and a Fish Cake Udon.OMG! My friend and I were amazed. First time trying out Rose Topokki. I loved the vienna sausages with cheese in there that really rich the taste of the Topokki and for some reason the taste was less spicy than others but more rich and creamy.Fish Cake Udon was a kick for us ~ wow~~ you must try this. It doesn't taste like any other regular udons out there. It is a really good combination with Kimbap and Topokki.Just LOVE LOVE LOVE their food!Sometimes I get a little hesitant when I try new menus but I was so glad I did. Known for the Best place for Korean sausage and Toppokki. I strongly recommend you try these two first then try other menus from Jopok, you'll be glad you try different menus from there, too.
Zesty Olives - Irvine
2750 Alton Pkwy Unit 131, Irvine, CA 92606, United States
I can confidently say that Zesty Olives Mediterranean Grill is one of my favorite places to eat in Irvine.Located at the Diamond Jamboree Shopping Center next to Sul & Beans, this place stands out among the populated Asian cuisine in the area. The food is exceptionally delicious and freshly made. The hospitality and service for this fast-casual dining spot is superb. And the price point for the food quality is unbeatable! Some of my favorites were:* Beef (Halal) Wrap - so so good. The beef was super flavorful and the pita bread came out warm and slightly toasted yet it was still fluffy and chewy. The added greens provided a nice crunch and the tzatziki brought out the freshness of the tomatoes and onions, while the cheese added a bit of savory-ness to the wrap. This was a definite winner.* Mahi-Mahi Grilled Fish Plate - This dish came with a side of fresh green salad. The fish was grilled to perfection (see my photos). It also came with rice and pita bread - and a side of the most delicious homemade sauce made by Yana!! I'm not sure what was in it but it was chunky and zesty (zesty olives, maybe?) and made a perfect dip for everything we ordered! We all loved it so much! Yana also had a hot & sweet sauce that was also really good and could potentially be a great side dip to some Filipino dishes! This fish plate was delicious and plentiful!Zesty Olives is a small location where you can place orders to go or dine in. I have done both but I've always found it best to dine in and eat the food fresh from the grill.Overall, Zesty Olives Mediterranean Grill serves delicious and fresh quality dishes. Yana and her team are so friendly and welcoming. This vibrant and colorful, small eatery is hugely a stop for great cuisine when I'm in the area! I highly recommend you give them a try! You know I'll be back! :)
Lao Ma Tou Hot Pot - Irvine
4230 Barranca Pkwy, Irvine, CA 92604, United States
My fiancé and I have been here several times and its always a wonderful experience. The servers are fast, attentive, but most of all welcoming and warm. They are thoughtful and always grab things for you even before you ask (clean plates, aprons, water). As someone who is not Asian but eats hot pot regularly since its one of my favorite foods, there was a point when I needed guidance on what to order and which sauce goes good with what (one of my close friends is Chinese and she taught me) and this place is the best for that. I saw other non-Asian couples here and the servers were teaching them how to mix the sauces and guiding them through the different broth options. Ive been to many hot pot restaurants and the food has always been good but this place takes prize for checking off every box. Super high quality items, all delicious! What we usually order:- Mala spicy broth level 5 (I dont recommend this level of spicy unless you have super high tolerance) OR regular bone Broth if were eating here with someone whi doesnt like spice.- Any of the beef cuts are good- Pork belly- Shrimp balls- Lamb- Quail eggs (MUST)- Tofu skin or bean curd- Hot pot noodle- Enoki mushroom- Lotus root- Rice, for those who dont like noodles
Kuan Zhai Alley
8691 Irvine Center Dr, Irvine, CA 92618, United States
Food: Most of the food is pretty good, nothing out of the ordinary, just home-cooked Sichuan cuisine, but the braised pork is reheated twice or multiple times and is very unpalatable.Environment: The environment restaurant is very small and crowded. I booked a table for six people the day before, but it turned out that there were three tables for two people put together. The only round table in the corner was not given to us, saying that the round table had been booked. The result From 12 noon to around 2 oclock when we left, the round table was always empty. The rectangular table that is put together is not suitable for Chinese food. During the meal, we need to keep picking up food for the friends across the table, otherwise they will not be able to reach it.Service: Other peoples tables are given stainless steel cups that look better quality, but our table is full of disposable plastic cups. I dont know what the meaning of this distinction is? When paying the bill, there is a compulsory big party service fee of 18% of the food price. On this basis, the option of charging a tip appears for the second time. I have to say that your eating looks are too ugly! Wont go there a second time!
All That Shabu
15315 Culver Dr #145, Irvine, CA 92604, United States
Love the AYCE and all of the options provided. Buffet style with so much variety, lots of noodles/veggies/seafood and a lot of good sauces/condiments. I love eating the fried tofu with the peanut sauce they offer. ? The staff are super attentive with refilling broth and meat selections and do a great job keeping everything clean. Big fan of the self-serve soda and ice cream as well as the hot food section, however the tempura was cold. Def one of my top favorite restaurants!
HiroNori Craft Ramen
2222 Michelson Dr #234, Irvine, CA 92612, United States
Updated review from my previous 3-star one:I came back here with my girlfriend and my toddler. Service was excellent as usual- I think thats something HiroNori prides itself on is at least good service, even if youre not a fan of their food. I ordered the same thing I had last night, which was the Tonkotsu Ramen but I added corn and that made a difference for me.The last time I felt there was so little food that I finished my meal really quickly, even though I wasnt that hungry and had so much broth leftover. So this time, I ordered extra ramen on the side. But then to my surprise, I ended up having just enough noodles to broth this time around, which meant I now also had this extra ramen with nothing to eat it with. Portion consistency might be a problem then? I didnt want to just throw out the extra noodles that I already paid for, so I asked for extra broth to-go. That cost an extra $7.00 for just broth. Between what I was charged for the extra broth and the extra ramen, I literally couldve just ordered a whole other bowl of Tonkotsu Ramen. If I knew that, I wouldve done that because at least I wouldve had a second meal with the egg, chashu and veggies. My updated review gives this place four (instead of the three stars previously) because I did enjoy my food more this time around and I do like the atmosphere and consistently great service. The broth still doesnt do it for me the way some of my other favorite ramen joints do but its a solid place.°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°All hype, no rage. I went on a mini-food crawl a couple weeks ago and decided to include HiroNori as part of it. Thank God I was traveling solo because when I put my name into the system (SO THANKFUL for that automated system), it told me 142 other people were ahead of me. I thought, Sweet Baby Jesus, what did I get myself into? However, in the few minutes that it took me to park my car properly (I had just left it in a what looked like a parking spot because I couldnt find one originally), I received a text message saying that my name had already been called. WTF?! So I actually sprinted back, afraid of losing my spot.I was greeted nicely by several different employees. Service was absolutely excellent, could not complain at all. It was a small, simple menu. I chose the Tonkatsu Ramen. It wasnt bad. Broth was okay and noodles were the perfect al dente. It didnt automatically come with corn and they were so skimpy with the amount of noodles. I wasnt super hungry but I think I finished the whole thing in about five minutes and I wasnt even trying! If I hadnt had phenomenal ramen at other Japanese places, I mightve ranked it higher. I loved how they already included the gratuity for you. Awesome blossom! Overall, though, everything was just okay.
