K-Grill & Tofu House
617 San Mateo Ave, San Bruno, CA 94066, United States
I went to K grill & tofu house for dinner with my family and we had a great time. The restaurant is located on San Mateo Ave in San Bruno, and it offers authentic Korean cuisine. The restaurant is spacious and clean. The service was friendly and attentive, and our food came out fast and hot. The menu has a variety of dishes, such as soft tofu soup, bulgogi, bibimbap, seafood pancake, and grilled meat. We ordered the Pork Bulgogi, which was thinly sliced pork marinated in a sweet and savory sauce and stir-fried with onions and carrots. It was tender and flavorful, and it came with a bowl of rice and some side dishes (banchan). We also ordered the Combo Soft Tofu Soup, which was a spicy soup with soft tofu, beef, seafood, mushrooms, and vegetables. It was served in a hot stone pot that kept the soup bubbling throughout the meal. The soup was rich and spicy, and the tofu was silky and soft. The soup also came with rice and banchan. The banchan included kimchi, potato salad, bean sprouts, spinach, radish, and seaweed salad. They were all fresh and tasty, and we could ask for refills anytime. We also ordered the Haemul Pajeon, which was a large seafood pancake with green onions, squid, shrimp, mussels, and clams. It was crispy on the outside and chewy on the inside, and it had a lot of seafood in it. It was served with a dipping sauce that added some tanginess to the dish. The portion was generous and we shared it among ourselves. The prices were reasonable for the amount and quality of food we got. I would definitely recommend K grill & tofu house to anyone who loves Korean food or wants to try something new.

I recently visited Las Katrinas and I must say I was impressed with the dining experience I had. From the moment I walked in, I was greeted with a warm welcome and a welcoming atmosphere that made me feel at home.Las Katrinas specialty is burritos, quesabirrias and molcajetes, and let me tell you, they did not disappoint me at all. The burritos were simply delicious. They were generously filled with fresh, flavorful ingredients, and the flavor was authentic and satisfying. Each bite was an explosion of flavors that transported me directly to Mexico. However, what really captivated me was the quesabirria. This dish is a perfect combination of a burrito and a quesadilla filled with juicy meat and melted cheese. The outside was perfectly browned and crispy, while the inside was tender and full of flavor. I cant express how delicious it was. It is definitely a must-try in Las Katrinas. Also, I cant fail to mention the molcajetes. These traditional Mexican dishes presented in an authentic stone molcajete were impressive. They were filled with tender meat, spicy sauce, beans, guacamole and melted cheese. Each spoonful was a perfect combination of textures and flavors, and the molcajete added a special touch to the presentation. The service at Las Katrinas was exceptional. The staff were friendly, attentive and knowledgeable about the dishes they offered. They helped me choose the dishes that best suited my preferences and were willing to answer all my questions. As for the atmosphere, the restaurant has charming decor that reflects Mexican culture. Soft background music and dim lighting create a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere. It is the perfect place to enjoy a quiet meal or a gathering with friends and family. In short, if you are looking for an authentic and tasty culinary experience, I highly recommend you visit Las Katrinas. The burritos, quesabirrias and molcajetes are simply delicious and the atmosphere will make you feel like you are in Mexico. You wont regret trying their exquisite dishes!
Banh Mi House
2701 San Bruno Ave, San Francisco, CA 94134, United States
Real French bread. 5.00 average price. Not the cheapest (Saigon Sandwich is 4.00, the one in Oakland China Town is 3.75!) But pretty good! And $5 is not a horrible price for a meal. Right? Actually pretty damn Delicious. We got a pork and Pate one for 5:50 and a five spice chicken for $5. I think the tofu one is 475. So for the Portola with all the Chinese restaurants and Vietnamese as well this is about as good as it gets. Most of the Vietnamese restaurants there are not very good.
Societea Tea House & Eatery
446 San Mateo Ave, San Bruno, CA 94066, United States
Ordered a CTC (cinnamon toast crunch), machagato, popcorn chicken, and classic vietnamese sandwich.CTC was creamy and tasty. it didnt really taste like cinnamon toast crunch but still good. Stir it as you drink otherwise you will get all crumbs in the bottom. It has the cheese foam on it but it mot salty loke some places.I recommend trying this if you like creamy milk teasmMachagato is a spin off of the affogato. Green milk tea with green tea ice cream and a shot of matcha. After mixing it up, it kind of just tasted like a matcha latte. It was ok but I wouldnt recommend it unless you just want a matcha latte.Popcorn chicken was good. Meat was tender. I would recommend this.Viet sandwich had a good amount of meat in it but 2 major problems. 1) it was the wrong kind of bread. I dont know what kind of bread it was but it didnt taste like the typical viet style french bread. 2) the pickled daikon and carrots were WAY to sour, to the point that it was overwhelming rather than complimenting to the sandwich. Not recommended.1.31.2021Went back again. This time we got the mangonada and strawberry matcha. We liked them both ?. If there was just a tab more match flavor in the strawberry matcha then it would have been perfect. Also very pleased that manager messaged me back telling me that they fixed the issue with the pickled daikon and carrots. Show that they ready care about their products and services.
Ichika Izakaya
851 Cherry Ave #34, San Bruno, CA 94066, United States
Happened to pass by and find this place. With this less reviews, the food is amazingly good!Afterwards realized that because it was just open for 10 days. Agedashi tofu is both crispy enough and soft enough, with the perfect-balanced broth;the taste of Yakitori can rank in top 5 of my experience all over the United States, even comparing with Izakaya in LA or NY;grill oyster is recommended by the chef, I would say it‘s a must have, chubby and creamy and rich but not over flavored, bring out all the good side outta a huge oyster;Kani Chawanmushi has no difference with the taste in Michelin star restaurant. Not quite having much nigiri this time, will come by and try that part. Overall surprisingly awesome!
Minari
449 San Mateo Ave, San Bruno, CA 94066, United States
First time visit and happy we tried it out.We went to San Mateo avenue because there are lots of wonderful choices. The first few places we wanted to try were closed and we ended up at Minari. The dining area is nicely open and tables spaced out so you are not back to back with other diners. We were promptly greeted and after putting in our orders, banchans followed soon afterwards. It was a nice variety. Two items not normally served at other places included (very mildly) spicy bean sprouts and marinated seaweed. It was as delicious as all the other banchans. Our mackerel was nicely done, crisp on the outside and moist inside. The mackerel was a decent size. The bibimbap was a generous portion with delicious vegis and perfectly cooked rice. The seafood in the seafood tofu stew was good too.Everything was very delicious and service was very prompt.Water is self serve.Minus one less star for the plastic container for the bibimbap sauce. Personal bias against use disposable plastic ware for dine-in.Would definitely come again.
Amami Sushi Bistro
312 El Camino Real, San Bruno, CA 94066, United States
The whole experience dining in Amami Sushi Bistro was so horrible I wish I could give them negative stars. We arrived around 7:10 pm on Wednesday and there were people waiting to be seated. We asked how long it will take them to get us seated for party of 2 and the answer was about 40 min. We told hostess that we are ok seating on the bar if it speeds the process and she informed us it will take about 20 min to wait. While we were waiting somehow people who came after us were seated before us. The first couple was seated prior to us was because they are apparently regular customers and all other customers apparently had “reservation.” We were the last ones who were seated after 1 hour and 40 minutes wait. We ordered appetizers and the main course, however, somehow the main course came before the appetizers. Also, the meat they served was undercooked and raw. The service was very slow, and we experienced avoidance. The food was ok, nothing special, the only dish I liked was the octopus. The same hostess who got us seated after 1 hour and 40 minutes wait was serving our food. She offered the ice cream on the house for their poor services, but I refused to take it. I felt quilty for taking my disabled combat veteran husband for taking him there and putting him through this horrible experience. He has a bad leg from the war, and it was very hard for him to wait outside standing for 1 hours and 40 minutes. Also, he was the one who was served with raw undercooked meat. Normally, I would tip 20% for services but this time I left 25 cents. My husband said it was too generous.
Gintei Japanese restaurant
235 El Camino Real, San Bruno, CA 94066, United States
After my wife and I dropped off my mother-in-law at SFO airport, my stepson wanted good Japanese food. I wanted to drive back to the East Bay to this spot in El Cerrito, but we were a bit famished and searched online for the closest spot. I saw how many stars Gintei had online and decided that we go ahead and try it (that was my mistake). This is not a regular Japanese restaurant... this is an elegant Japanese restaurant, which basically means high prices for little portions. I knew we shouldve bounced when they didnt have a bento box on the menu. What they did have sounded delicious and even though they were quite pricey, my wife figured it was okay since we were all together as a family. I know that sounded cheesy, but I appreciated her trying to make me feel better for picking this horrible restaurant. I ordered the Dragon Roll and pork belly... my stepson got the steak, and my wife got the tempura. When we asked if rice came with the order, the server giggled and said no... I have no idea why she giggled... we still ordered rice for the each of us. I was thinking maybe she giggled because rice would cost as much as one of their entrees (since it wasnt shown in the menu) or that we were eating their elegant food incorrectly and to the server we became the joke of the night... but the joke was on us... the portions were small, individual-appetizer-small... I hesitated to ask if I could taste what my wife and stepson had because that wouldve practically devoured their plate so I decided to just take a picture of it as proof... I should have put a dollar bill or a quarter next to the item when taking the pictures but the server was eyeing us and we had another plate coming and we didnt want any secret sauce. Instead, if you peep out my pork belly dish, theres a boiled egg sliced in half. Next time you eat a boiled egg, peep out the picture I took for comparison and youll see what I am talking about. When the check came, the only one thing that got stuffed was their cash register because we spent the equivalent of a week of groceries. Hahahaha! Wow, did I make a mistake of choosing this place or what? This spot used to be Tribu restaurant and before Tribu started going downhill with their quality which eventually led to them closing, we couldve fed a family of 8 at Tribu with the price we paid at Gintei. I gave one star because I cant give no stars... the food was just okay... nothing to write about... I usually dont give bad reviews so dont take this as one... take it as a warning!
Z-One Kitchen
130 El Camino Real Suite C, San Bruno, CA 94066, United States
The food here is pretty good. They have some of the best Xian cold noodles in the bay area. The Chinese hamburger is not bad, with a generous amount of pork in it, which is mixed with green bell peppers. The Chinese hamburger contains more bell peppers compared to other restaurants, which can be good or bad, depending on your preference. Their pork and leek dumpling are pretty average, the lamb soup is okay, and the grilled meat is slightly above average. The cucumber salad is not made with Persian cucumbers, but rather a variety with less crunch, and a more squashy flavor. The service is efficient, with nothing to complain about. The kitchen at this restaurant is not walled off, so you can see them preparing your food, which is pretty cool. If you are looking for Texas Barbecue, look elsewhere - they only serve Chinese barbecue. If you enjoy Xian cold noodles and Chinese hamburger, this place is a great choice.
