Tofu House
4646 Convoy St Ste 116, San Diego, CA 92111, United States
One of our favorite restaurants in San Diego. We have to hit it at least once every time we visit. Reliably tasty and decent value. We had hot stone bul go gi, pan fried tofu, and the kids split the japche with chicken added. Excellent as usual! No leftovers!Hot stone bowls = general burn hazard and VERY hot food. Be careful or you may burn your mouth!
Grandma Tofu & BBQ
4425 Convoy St, San Diego, CA 92111, United States
The best Korean restaurant in San Diego, hands down. They have the best soft tofu soup around plus banchan (side dishes) are aplenty, unlike so many other places where they bring out two or three then frown when you ask for more. If you have any special requests, just ask. If possible, theyll accommodate you with dishes they even dont have on the menu; just make sure to go early when the owner is there as hes the one who can help you with special orders. The food is just so amazing.
Tofu House
9089 Mira Mesa Blvd, San Diego, CA 92126, United States
Every time we go to San Diego (from Miami) we go to this oddly named Korean restaurant. They specialize in dishes like hot stone rice, or boiled tofu which are served on/in extremely hot dishes and allow for further cooking at the table. Boiled tofu is a misleading since you can get this dish with all kinds of other ingredients. The tofu is only a base ingredient, and boiled means very hot and liquid soup like consistency. Every dish weve had here multiple times has been delicious. We need a Tofu House in Miami! PS. We used to go to the one in Convoy, but the parking there is brutal....
Buga Korean BBQ Restaurant
5580 Clairemont Mesa Blvd, San Diego, CA 92117, United States
Buga Korean BBQ Restaurant has the All You Can Eat BBQ Menu and also the A La Carte Menu. We went for option B of the AYCE menu. This restaurant is very modern, stylish decor, clean and large dining table and plenty of elbow spaces between your table mates. They have excellent air quality control equipment to remove the smoke and grease from grilling meats. A big plus! Restaurant has variety of side dishes which we liked. A lot of Korean BBQ restaurants have reduced the number of side dishes nowadays. We loved the meat quality and the steamed eggs were very well prepared. Also, loved their warm, steamed rice wrappers. The only thing we didn’t like was the tofu stew/soup which was salty and watered down. We will be back to try the a la carte dishes.
Tofu House SDSU (Korean BBQ & Wings)
6061 El Cajon Blvd suite 4, San Diego, CA 92115, United States
My partner is Korean and has declared this Korean-adjacent or Korean-inspired. It has all the elements of Korean food within being entirely auntentic. It’s GOOD. He loved the soups. I liked it cuz it was spicy. I am not a fan of tofu and thought I was getting a bulgogi as a stir fry and not a soup. My partner ordered wrong. The meat in this soup was minced, tender, and melts in your mouth. The japchae was some of the best we have had in San Diego cuz we can’t remember the last time we had a local restaurant’s taste decent. This will definitely be a popular spot for us when the weather cools off to enjoy these hot pots.

Jai Jus
470 15th St, San Diego, CA 92101, United States
I recently discovered this hidden gem in my neighborhood. The owner, Ingrid, is the sweetest and most welcoming person you will ever meet. From the moment I stepped inside, I felt like I was visiting an old friend. She was incredibly knowledgeable about her products and made some great recommendations. Now, lets talk about the smoothies and juices – they are top-notch! Every sip is packed with flavor and freshness. Ive tried a few different flavors, but my personal favorite is the Morning Train – a delicious blend of coconut milk, dates, kale, banana, vanilla, almond butter, hemp, chlorella, and spirulina. Its the perfect pick-me-up before the day begins, very filling too!Overall, I cant recommend Jai Jus enough! Ingrid's warm and friendly personality sets the tone for everything else in the shop – a great atmosphere and fantastic tasting products. If youre in the market for a delicious smoothie or juice, this is definitely the place to go. Five stars!PS. They use the left over pulp from juicing to make dog treats! My dog loves the peanut butter and sweet potato one.
Meraki

The food here was delicious, I was blown away. We started off with the marinated olives- they were good but the least exciting part of our dinner. I ordered the hummus salad and my boyfriend got the steak aguachile. The hummus salad was one of the best salads I've ever had- it was so well balanced. The roasted veggies were perfectly cooked and a little bit caramalized. The hummus was not your typical hummus, it was filled with herbs and had a really fresh and tangy taste. Everything in the salad was so fresh, it tasted like it was purchased at the local farmers market. They used baby squash, purple cauliflower, and fresh but tender kale. I can't speak for my boyfriend's food, but he really enjoyed it. The one suggestion I have is to add a few more vegan options to the menu as I would love to come back and try something new. Offering bbq'd tofu as a protein for the salad would have been great as well to make it a bit more filling. The service was great and our server even offered some free truffle fries which were crispy and delicious. Everything was reasonably priced as well. Would absolutely recommend!!!
Palm Thai Cafe
4370 Palm Ave, San Diego, CA 92154, United States
We had a nice time at Palm Thai. The atmosphere is nice and they go some led string lights giving off a warm glow. When you walk in their menu is available both printed and on big TV screens displaying it behind the register. The food was also really good and they bring it to your table. The staff were friendly. The veggie pad Thai with fried tofu was a great vegetarian option. It had a tanginess from the like juice, crunchiness from peanuts and bean sprouts, and spiciness from the level of spicy you choose when you order. The tofu egg rolls were also great and came with a sweet peanut sauce for dipping. The shrimp tempura come with a sweet and sour sauce.Theres also self serve water dispenser if you want water and you can buy Thai tea/coffee and bottled and canned soft drinks.
FISH GUTS
2222 Logan Ave, San Diego, CA 92113, United States
It was good to get there 30 minutes early, because we got in right at open. Not too long of a wait for the food after you order, about 8 minutes or so. Got fish and chips, not a fan, potato cubes were kinda raw in the top dressing of this taco. The fish was good alone in this one. Baja was good, no complaints. The winner is the Swordfish and it was awesome, 100% my favorite. Ambiance is basically like a hole in the wall taco spot. You sit on stools and the plate sits on a little bar table thing. The wait staff was awesome, very humble. Loved them and the smiles that came.Drove down from LA on fathers day for this experience recommended by my brother who lives in Las Vegas who saw the hype on Instagram. It was good, I got to try it and enjoyed it. Definitely not suited as a family spot with little children. Go single or coupled up, maybe if you got a baby so young that sits in a stroller and sleeps the whole time youll be fine. But not for young kids under 12 I feel. They wont sit. Will I be back? 50/50 split decision. It will not be a dedicated trip to eat here. Rather a if Im ever in the neighborhood driving by and the line is not maniacally long.. sure.
Kin Saep
4710 Market St, San Diego, CA 92102, United States
This place was formerly So Saep and now under new name and ownership. Max occupancy for this place is 18.It was the Lao Pho that caught our eye since the other known place that we know serve this dish is in OC.We got Lao pho, Crab fried rice, Fried chicken wing, Chicken satay and Panang curry. For drinks we got Thai tea which was sweeter than my liking. The cococane was refreshing and naturally sweet. Fresh sugar cane with real slices of coconut. We came during lunch and the service was super quick and everything tasted delicious. In and out within one hour. The chicken satay is on the dry side but dipping in the peanut sauce made it better. The curry was a level 6 spice but it was not spicy and my tolerance is low. My new favorite place for crab friend rice. Lao pho tasted like viet pho and even better than some viet pho places.Overall, we will for sure come back for the other dishes.
