Ikes Love & Sandwiches
2235 The Alameda, Santa Clara, CA 95050, United States
Going to a concert at Mission Santa Clara, I was looking for a good place for some dinner. We live in Gilroy and are not familiar with this area but the pictures of the sandwiches looked good! Parking was definitely a challenge, but didnt take too long. There were SO many selections and different sandwiches, they listed probably 30-40 sandwiches (about 1/3 vegetarian and also listed chicken as halal). They prepared our sandwiches very quickly and the sandwiches were delicious, absolutely a place I would go to again. The restaurant had a very pleasant atmosphere and they gave us lollipops for dessert!

They work there to sign my card.I explain. He finally taken card.but Still charge me $7on a chicken pizza.I ordered FAMILY.He gave me a LARGE and charge me diff for Family not Large Size Pizza.I went to car and sent sis right bk in.I wasnt feelin well.Well he wouldnt change pizza to Family and was rude to me.He said once I go out I cant change.I guess he think i did something to pizza. I Never would do nothing like that. Macondo Colombian Fusion
1545 Webster St, Alameda, CA 94501, United States
This place will leave you speechless asking for more! Fresh Chicken, Fresh Beef, spices on everything was superb.Started off with the Arepa's:Colombianisimo: pulled brisket w/ hogao cooked to perfection in between a masa formed pocket with cheese and house sauce.(this was the favorite)Birria Arepa: slow cooked beef w/ pickled carrots. The beef was some of the best Birria meat I have ever tasted!Empanadas:Chicken/Beef were both good but I would choose the chicken because of the sauce that it was paired with.(game changers)Dessert:Arepa de cholco con queso, I wish I had someone making these on call. Like nothing I've had before and will be returning for moreAuthentic Colombian food here in the Bay Area is very hard to find but look no further this gem is a must try.The only thing this place needs but doesn't is a small bar style seating or a couple tables(4 max)
Bread & Breakfast - Burbank
321 E Alameda Ave #H, Burbank, CA 91502, United States
Basturma Burrito ???The Basturma has a subtle smokiness and was well-spiced. I think the air drying process gave it a very concentrated beefiness which had a great umami taste. The eggs were cooked just right without being too chewy nor too wet to make the tortilla soggy. I think it would have preferred the hash browns a smidge crispier to contrast with the wetter/softer ingredients. And a bit more pan searing of the burrito may give it a nice toastiness. I do have to be honest though that, considering the price of the burrito, I was expecting a bigger portion. Also, the sauces were very good! The creamy one had a solid herb blend and mouth feel. And I thought the other one had a refreshing lightness to it.All in all, a nice blend of flavors, but just needed a bit of a bigger portion to let the flavors tie together. A nice experience with good customer service.
Island Savoy Market
1200 Lincoln Ave, Alameda, CA 94501, United States
I heard great things about Savoy and finally decided to try it out. I was told Deli has a nice vegetarian selection. A bit disappointing: the only veggie selection is the grilled cheese sandwich. Admittedly, it was good. Theoretically, you can build your own sandwich, but again - not a lot of variety for a vegetarian preference. The wine selection is good if you are looking for a mid-price wine: $13 to $30 range.Overall, not the place I would run into for a quick shopping trip. Items offered are of high quality but not enough variety or choices. Has the basics covered, but that's about it. My corner “mom & pop” store offers more items for lower prices, so I will likely stick with that for my daily routine. What I did like about the Savoy Market is the spacious atmosphere, ability to sit down to eat the sandwich (have not tried outdoor patio yet) and to drink a beverage from the coffee/tea counter. This place is definitely a great addition to the neighborhood.
Chong Qing Noodles House
1635 Park St, Alameda, CA 94501, United States
Pork & Chive dumplings were good. The Pancake was deep fried and greasy. The Cold Noodles were OK but also very oily. The menu offered only beef and pork dishes, with a couple vegetarian options. No shrimp dumplings available, and the other seafood advertised on the window wasnt available. Now when I look at the menu posted on Google, this restaurant has changed. This is no longer the 4.7 stars it used to be. We were very disappointed.
May Thai Kitchen
1319 Park St, Alameda, CA 94501, United States
We visited May Thai on the Sunday before thanksgiving. It’s been busy since the holiday season started. Three of us were dining for dinner and two of us Re vegetarians. The food was beyond delicious. We ordered the coconut milk soup with tofu (vegetarian), side order of rice noodle to go with the soup - the best combo ever; pad Thai with beef; pineapple fired rice with tofu and pad see ew (custom made vegetarian version). The owner P was amazing, and super attentive. We originally wanted to order the pad thai with Tofu and she was honest with us that the pad thai source is not vegetarian and it won’t taste like padthai without the source so she recommended the pad see ew instead, which turned out to be prefect. Not many restaurant would care about little details like that. Her effort in making sure that our dishes are vegetarian is above and beyond. She also check in with us about the food after they were served. It’s definitely a five star restaurant for the excellent food, amazing customer service and warm/cozy atmosphere. You gotta try it out! You won’t regret it. The Thai ice tea was also perfect.

The Park Street Tavern
1901 Park St, Alameda, CA 94501, United States
A group of vegetarians, pescatarians, and meat eaters headed out to the Park Tavern for the first time during COVID times. We made reservations ahead of time and choose to sit outside in their open tent on a drizzly cold night. The staff was attentive, the heat lamps kept the tent cozy and warm, the tables had adequate distance, and the food was outstanding. It was a Friday and BONUS!!! They have a Beatles cover band do a show and they are amazing but during these strange times, you will be asked not to dance which is reasonable. However, if you want to hold a conversation, I suggest you request seating inside the restaurant which was relatively empty. We dined and dashed. Normally we would linger in conversation but we really wanted to be mindful about allowing the restaurant to have as much business as possible by allowing them to turn over the table. We will be going back.
Abigails Moroccan Cuisine
1132 Ballena Blvd, Alameda, CA 94501, United States
We went to this place for dinner on Saturday before a concert. We arrived a bit after they opened so we had enough time to enjoy. When you first arrive, it looks like a run down business parkl complete with weeds in the front. We initially thought the place was closed. Upon entering the building we were met by a very young lady who was wearing sweat pants and a tee shirt.. Hard to know she actually worked there.. We were escorted to our table which there are only about 5 total in this small space. No music going on.. the ambiance was very strange. They have this curtain where I guess they are preparing the food, but we didnt smell anything cooking. There was a man wearing a medical mask serving water which was very off putting.. Are you wearing that mask for my benfit or yours? The salad was served so fast almost like fast food.. makes you wonder.. You only get two choices, lamb or chicken and the food came very quickly after. I have had much better Moroccan cuisine at other places.. I think they cook this stuff early in the day somewhere else and serve it.. it was not that warm or good.. just OK. The bathrooms are an adventure to find. so just more strange experiences. The ONLY thing good in this whole experience was the dancer. She was absolutely lovely and made the whole experience better.
