Taco Bell
40020 CA-49, Oakhurst, CA 93644, United States
The food is always what you would expect from Taco Bell. Ive had mixed results with service here. Depending on who works there, you might be able to get a large cup of water for free. Other people will charge you a dollar in sour cream just because you want a large cup of water. Im not some oversized behemoth, but I do require a lot of water. A little 8 oz cup doesnt amount to much when Im trying to enjoy my food.I have a love-hate relationship with the atmosphere there now, hence the three stars. As with most corporations, cutbacks is a CEOs favorite word. Its very sleek and modern, and with the right friends, it can become a very awesome spot to chill inside. It feels so clean and fresh. The lack of workers and a second physical cash register (self-serve kiosks dont count: congratulations to the corporation for finding ways to eliminate jobs) takes away so much life from the updated look. Keep this renovation, but put the human element back. Ill make this five stars.Overall, Taco Bell is sometimes the cheap way to get a basic meal. Healthy? Not really. Economical? Certainly.
Papa Murphys Take N Bake Pizza
40004 CA-41 Suite 103, Oakhurst, CA 93644, United States
Used to be a 5 star rating for me but after today January 26th it goes down to a two star. I arrived at 7:30, 30 minutes before theyre supposed to close and they have a sign on the window saying that theyre closed early due to the up and coming storm. here it is 8:30 after having to go figure out what else Im going to do for dinner because I came specifically for pizza, lo and behold still no wind, still no rain or snow. Just rubbed me the wrong way and I wont be going there for a long while. I had a really long day at work myself and wanted to get home before the storm hits at 9:00 like the news said it would. Already had been to Vons and spent 15 bucks on hot wings and soda to go along with it.

Stumbled upon this amazing place on a random bike ride up into the hills. Upon arriving we were greeted by a couple of future employees who adorably informed us we didnt make it in time for the tritip, it was sold out. The hospitality didnt stop there and although it was closing time we were treated like royalty and ate like kings. It was no surprise the tritip sold out because everything we ate was unbelievably delicious. The staff were amazing and the establishment made you feel welcome and at home. We loved it so much we stopped back by a second time on our way back home. This place is Veteran ran and the people here love what they do. If I could give more stars I would, this has been the best experience of any type in a long time. A meal at north fork BBQ is all you need to restore hope in humanity and be reminded of the good, genuine people that are in short supply. Well worth the drive from fresno, I made the ride from a bit further in Hanford and I plan on doing it again. Hats off to North Fork BBQ, you deserve every bit of your success. You are appreciated!
Mountain Oaks Cafe
40282 CA-41 Unit 9, Oakhurst, CA 93644, United States
All the good reviews are justified - coming here was an incredible experience. The menu and the pictures online may not look so special or different, but the everything we tried here wound up being one of the best examples of it we ever had, anywhere. It also feels so cozy and homey inside, like a throw-back in the best way possibleShout out to Joe, our server. He is what every customer, and business owner, wants. Friendly, helpful, efficient...he clearly knows the menu inside and out, making excellent recommendations based on what we ordered and any questions we had. He was friendly and personable at the same time as being efficient and doing his job impeccably well. He was a big part of what made our breakfast here special. And the food...oh, the food. The tastiest pancakes I can recall, a delicious country friend steak that was also so tender, and so much more...we were stuffed and had plenty of food left over, which we gladly tucked back into later in the day.We will be dreaming about this place for a long time. Dont miss out!
Bees Bakery Cafe
40250 Junction Dr, Oakhurst, CA 93644, United States
This happened 07/24/2023. I hope the owners of this place read this, because they should be embarrassed and downright ashamed of their establishment and service standards that the staff is lacking. Two weeks ago, I went to visit my family and heard about Bees Cafe. I wanted to take my nana there with my niece and it was the worst decision I made. We had the displeasure of getting unacceptable service (or lack there of) from waitresses who cant even manage to wait on tables or check to see if everything is tasting okay or if we were missing anything; both of which were huge issues at our table. My nana had ordered a bowl of Macaroni and Cheese and was served a COLD BOWL of pasta with a chilled fork. We tried flagging down a waitress but all were too busy flirting with the cooks or too busy on their phones with each other not paying any mind to what was going on in front. We were sitting at the table in front of the display counter, where you can see pastries. After a few minutes of waiting, I got up and went to the counter with the Mac and cheese just wanting it to be heated up as my nana was really hungry and couldnt manage anything else. I stood there for several seconds until one waitress saw I was there and she came over bewildered. I told her about the chilled fork and cold Mac and cheese and asked if we could just simply have the Mac and cheese nuked in a microwave to save time. Without as much as an apology, she took the cold dish and took it to the back. We thought we were going to get it back in a few minutes, but it turned out they lack communication with cooks or team members. We watched and waited over 15 minutes and stopped timing after it was clear my Nana was not going to get her food. To pass the time, we had a timer on, wondering when my Nana would get her hot bowl of Mac and cheese order. We figured they were probably remaking the Mac and cheese but we should have not assumed that they would give us the courtesy. After waiting so long, my nana had enough as one waitress was taking a food order that had been sitting in the window for far too long. When the waitress passed by, my nana asked if she could speak with her about something. When the waitress came back, we told her that we were still waiting for Mac and cheese and her response, Oh, you didnt get it? We couldnt believe that this whole time, they were oblivious to what orders had come and gone out and the lack of communication between staff is abysmal. There is no excuse for four or five waitresses in the front to be standing around doodling on cups, taking selfies, or leaving multiple food orders sitting in the window and not check tables. Is it a lack of communication? Is it a lack of trying, or is this a lack of management and owner engagement and not holding staff members accountable for their actions?Where were the owners? Where was the manager? Where is a Supervisor? All of which were not there or were uninterested in what was happening in the front. I felt bad for the waitress who finally came to help us as we were frustrated and needed to get the hell out of there. What is upsetting, is I spent over $68 dollars, plus tip at the register. That tip was not earned as it is ridiculous that the POS asks for a tip when services are not given. This place will not last long.
The Elderberry House
48688 Victoria Ln, Oakhurst, CA 93644, United States
We've eating at The Elderberry House (EH) quite a few times including a New Year's Eve. In the past, the food and service has been exceptional. With Thanksgiving coming up we decided to do something different and go to EH for Thanksgiving dinner. The reservation was made several weeks before and noted that we had one person in our party with Celiacs (needs gluten-free). EH called us a few days before to confirm our reservation and that there was one person who needed gluten-free accommodations. On Thanksgiving Day Eve we arrived early so that we could order a cocktail. The bar was busy and so when it was time for us to be seated our drinks hadn't arrived so the waitstaff offered to bring our drinks to the table. So far so good. The first three courses were progressively more delicious than the previous one. Then the third course arrived. It was a foil gras torchon served with bread. The gluten-free bread was small and looked like part of a hamburger bun.On the fourth course when our gluten-free party was given tortellini they were smart enough to asked the waitstaff before eating it. It was quickly taken away. In the meantime while we were waiting for the gluten-free version to arrive, I had no utensils so I waited until the waitstaff returned with the gluten-free dish to ask for utensils. This was the second time I had to ask for utensils. There would be third time before they started bringing utensils prior to the food being served. The sixth course was turkey breast with leg meat confit. Both were incredibly salty. I could understand the confit possibly being salty but the turkey breast? It was at best difficult to get down but when paying around $500 for dinner for two we decided to get through it.The seventh and final course was a pumpkin parisienne sucré which I quite enjoyed but for the gluten-free person they got the same thing but without the “cake”. Needless to say that was disappointing for them. Then the bill came and our cocktails were not included. So doing the right thing we brought it to the waitstaff's attention. They came back and said that they had taken $10 off. It was a little surprising to me that such an upscale restaurant wouldn't have made more of an effort. In retrospect I do regret a little being honest but it's done now so after posting this I'm going to let it go.Overall there were great moments but there were also moments where we were left wondering what was going on; to have inconsistent service, our gluten-free person feeling like they got less than the standard meal and then a feeble attempt at the end to make things right. I'm really hoping that it was an off night but will not be coming back here anytime soon.
Hounds Tooth Inn
42071 CA-41, Oakhurst, CA 93644, United States
Not handicapped accessible. I made the reservation in early April. I called the staff at their local 559 number to confirm accessibility (ground floor accommodations) and a private bathroom. The woman I spoke to said there would be no problem. I let them know that neither of us could climb stairs. My husband is on crutches and has Cerebral Palsy. I walk with a cane and have spasticity and swelling in both legs. I got there and my requests were not honored. The woman knew I booked through AARP/Expedia and the fees were nonrefundable. She said that she gave all the ground floor rooms away to Yosemite hikers that week. I asked for help with our luggage and was told there was no one to assist us. We went to dinner and came back and were 3/4 of the way dragging a heavy suitcase and toiletries bag up the stairs step-by-step, when the woman told us we could have a room at their other property, but we would have to call them, pay again for that room, and then try to get our money back for their first room from Expedia/AARP. We were shocked at this lack of effort to assist us. We had paperwork clearly stating no refunds on their first room. We declined this effort to get another room payment out of us. My husband was visibly frustrated with the stairs and we noted they would not help us with our luggage. The woman then sniped that she would now assist us, but we had our bags up the stairs at that point. She seemed very angry and said we were liars about requesting accommodations beforehand. We assumed she had just booked our current room to someone else and wanted us to leave, but we had struggled to get our luggage up the stairs without falling and had prepaid for our room, so we were staying. We got to our outdated (late 70's styled room in mauve) with dingy soiled furniture and pealing wall paper, and we went straight to sleep. Some appliance woke us up on the hour with gurgling and hissing noises. It was four o'clock, and we decided to just get up early and leave, since we could not sleep soundly. The water was bitter and sulfury (not drinkable-possibly toxic), so we choked down our pills and went to check out. We were told there were night staff, but there was nobody there on duty. We used the phone on the wall by the front desk to attempt to check out and got a hostile man who said checkout was 8AM. We said we were leaving early and wanted a receipt (since they had taken my credit card number previously). He was hostile and said they would charge us if we trashed the room and he would not check me out until 8AM. I noted I would take pictures of the room before we left, because of the comments he made on the phone. He barked at me to leave the key on the front desk. At breakfast, locals noted that they probably did not want to honor the Expedia agreement (they get a portion of the fee) and did want to get the extra fee out of us, knowing we could not get reimbursed for the first room. We talked to our credit card about the experience, and they suggested closing the account, because they had our credit card information and seemed angry and bitter. It was an unfriendly experience.
Oakhurst Grill & Whiskey 41 Lounge
40530 CA-41, Oakhurst, CA 93644, United States
I liked it very much. The food was very good. I had the O.G. Burger with Trailer Park Fries. These fries were superb, just loved them. My husband had the Ricky Sasquatch. We know portions in America are large but this one really was the largest he ever ate. My daughter, who is a vegetarian, had the ravioli. Also this was very good. For the rest, the staff was really nice and the restaurant itself was home-like. We had Lso a nice view on the mountains.I can really recommend this place to people staying here.
Petes Place
40093 CA-41, Oakhurst, CA 93644, United States
I was staying in Oakhurst for a couple of days and a local recommended this place to eat. Im definitely not a picky eater, not hard to please. I ordered the Vegetarian Breakfast Burrito. When I pulled up to the window, I noticed both of the man and woman making food without a face mask and gloves. Even if we are not in a pandemic, gloves should be worn to make food in a restaurant. On top of that, the burrito was extremely bland and flavor less. Keep in mind I am a vegetarian, then I come to find the burrito had bacon bits mixed in. Waste of $11. I would not eat here again, even if its for free!
Plazuelas Mexican Restaurant
40015 CA-49 Suite 203 - 204, Oakhurst, CA 93644, United States
Traditional Mexican food in Oakhurst. This place serves authentic Mexican food. We initially were put on waiting list as the restaurant is extremely busy, however we got the table after 5 mins of waiting. Since we are vegetarians, the server recommended Huarache and salsa verde enchiladas and we decided to try both along with lemonade and margarita. Huarache was a unique dish, loved the flavors, tasted amazing. I have never had an enchilada with green sauce before so was a bit skeptical about salsa verde but I was blown away by the taste and flavors of the enchiladas, simply amazing. We felt that the Lemonade was freshly made and margarita was great. The staff is welcoming and extremely friendly. Last but not the least the salsa given along side chips had a unique taste, I would surely come again to visit this place, a must try.
