Gordon Ramsay ABSOLUTELY needs to pay this place a visit and turn things around. This is the first time in years I went to a restaurant that looked and felt like an episode you'd see on Kitchen Nightmares. The old uncomfortable green seats. The dated feel. The endless menu: always a bad sign; either stick with a dozen or less things you can do really really well, or do nothing; offering so much means a whole bunch of bland or potentially stale items as no business can possibly keep fresh ingredients, at all times, for THAT many different plate options. Case in point - I ordered the chicken verde enchiladas and the tortilla chips were stale, the beans were dried out and inedible, whole bunch of overcooked brown rice (WTH), there was this bizarre slice of Cantaloupe just pressed up against it all, and the enchiladas were nothing authentically Mexican. The plate was just piled high with stuff. The enchiladas were hot - I'll give them that, but the flavor was completely forgettable. It was like ordering Italian food at a Mexican restaurant. Awful. Funny enough, I was in the mood for spaghetti and sauce - I asked the waitress what she thought of the spaghetti and she goes, “(pause) It's ok...” and that's when I asked her what she recommended for first timers, and I went with the enchiladas because I felt her recommendation to be honest. She was very nice. Probably honest too - just unfortunately not the best food critic.Dessert was also massively disappointing. They didn't have any of the signature pies I'd heard about. GF ordered a mountain chocolate cake sundae. The cake was barely warm and tasted like cheapie cake mix from a box you get at Ralphs... The only things that were edible were the vanilla ice cream and whipped cream on top. Honestly, I could have just dug out two scoops at home and put some cream on it.Disaster. GF talked it up sooo much. Said it would be a surprise, as she came here a lot in her youth. She lost points tonight on place recommendations...Bloody Christ! Was going to give it one star, but it got two because the waitress was very nice and, again, honest. She tried. The kitchen let her down.
The Yellow Chilli Tustin
2463 Park Ave, Tustin, CA 92782, United States
I had visited The Yellow Chilli in Buena Park for the first time for a buffet. The price of buffet is bit on higher side as compared to other Indian restaurant in orange county. But The Yellow Chilli in tustin is a fine dining restaurant with à la carte menu. I visited twice to this location and I was more satisfied on my second visit. We ordered their shaam savera (veggie mains), and it was really good (must try). Its something different from traditional cottage cheese recipe. Also we ordered their bread basket just to try different varieties of bread and turns out to be it was not a good call. Garlic naan is good but other two breads (Lachcha paratha and Peshawari naan) was a bit let down. In rice, we ordered Nizami Tarkari Biryani and it turned out to be good. You probably might have figured out that Im vegetarian so Im not sure how there non-veg varieties taste like.If you are looking for real upscale fine dining experience for India food then you should definitely try this restaurant.
sweetgreen
15090 Kensington Park Dr #400, Tustin, CA 92782, United States
We recently visited Sweetgreen and tried the Miso Glazed Salmon, Crispy Rice Bowl, and Shroomami. The salads were delicious, incredibly fresh, and the portion sizes were just right. Each dish had a unique blend of flavors that made for a very satisfying meal. The Miso Glazed Salmon was perfectly cooked, the Crispy Rice Bowl had a delightful crunch, and the Shroomami was bursting with umami flavor. However, we felt that the amount of dressing provided was a bit too little for the portions. A bit more dressing would enhance the flavors even further. Despite this minor issue, we found the prices to be reasonable considering the quality and freshness of the ingredients.Overall, we are really happy to have discovered Sweetgreen and will definitely be coming back. Highly recommend giving it a try!
India Kitchen Tustin, CA
14131 Red Hill Ave, Tustin, CA 92780, United States
Loved their vegetarian samosas (not pictured). The sauces it comes with was super tasty with a great kick of spice on the mint one. Not oily/greasy. Comes with 2 pieces that were smaller than the samosas I’ve had at other Indian restaurants.Ordered 3 entrees (Chicken Makhani, Paneer Tikka Masala & Baigan Bhartha) and they were all so flavorful! Wish we were offered a chance to adjust the spice level as a spicier version may have been better. The dishes it was served in seem small but they were definitely filling for a party of two. The biryani rice served (not pictured) was smaller in portion size than the average serving size in other Indian restaurants. Also ordered two Garlic Naan which made up for the small serving of rice. (Pictured is one order of the Garlic Naan). Overall, great flavor for the price!Service was great and food wait time for dinner was def less than 30 minutes.Clean bathrooms & plenty parking spaces! Would come back again!
Ikes Love & Sandwiches
2487 Park Ave, Tustin Legacy, CA 92782, United States
Pains me to give such a low review since I was going to the original Ikes in SF years ago. But they have become a chain since and it shows. Some of the staple sandwiches that made the place great, are gone #BringBackThePapaSam! Anyways, I digress. I got the halal chicken sandwich with avocado. I could immediately feel that they went light on the signature sauce (another staple that has now been down-played). There was one girl qork the whole place, which was empty, and she didnt want to be there. Now Im not knocking a teen for not being overly enthusiastic about making sub sandwiches, but if youd ever been to the original ikes, youd know it was a fun place to work where people were cooky, laughing, and having fun. Today, at least this location, looked like a dying Arbys. Too bad.
Taco Bell
1075 N Tustin Ave, Anaheim, CA 92807, United States
1075 N Tustin Ave, Anaheim, CA 92807I order from Taco Bell regularly. Went through the drive through here and wanted the PROMO... July 22, all day, a FREE Flaming hot Dorito Taco. Well, there were two of us and I specifically said there were TWO OF US and wanted 2 tacos. Then I was told theres only 1 per order. So we get only 1. So after... I go back inside as a walk-in and ask for a single free taco, and the two women argue with me for 5 minutes that I never said there was two of us in the car. They should have just said no problem... thank you for trying our promoted item. After being annoyed at them, I decide to try an OTHER Taco Bell 5 mins away. Well they were very courteous and gave us two free tacos NO PROBLEMS. That OTHER girl even gave a smile and said have a great night !
Rakkan Ramen - Tustin
2427 Park Ave, Tustin, CA 92606, United States
Stopped by this place after the moves and realized that this ramen place is good for vegetarian. I plan to introduce my friends to be here to try. I like the name of the restaurant meaning optimistic or optimism.
Brew Hawg BBQ & Root Beer Co.
665 N Tustin St suite j, Orange, CA 92867, United States
From the street, Brew Hawg is hard to notice and you could easily drive past it and not even know that BBQ could be found in the little business strip. The place is located back from the street and the parking lot; without much signage, even when youre standing in fron of it, youre not sure.Out in front of the restaurant, there are a few tables for dining and relaxing outside. Once inside, there are a few table scattered in front of the walk up, counter service. The menu is comprised primarily of sandwich plates and meat plates. My wife and I decided on the sandwiches and chose to give the brisket a try. The meat plates with two meat choices seemed like a lot of food for lunch. We were looking for a meat plate with just one BBQ choice, but it wasnt on the board. The staff was friendly and was helpful in describing the menu choices. She was also provided excellent service offering refills and servicing our table. The brisket sandwhiches were amazing. Good hunks of smokey BBQ flavor. The combination of the tart cranberry slaw and the brisket was delicious. Based on just the meats, Brew Hawg would rate another star higher. I really wanted to give this place a higher review, but the side dish was a bit of a disappointment. The rather small helping of garlic mash was a bit bland, with the consistency of instant mash potatoes. A strange after taste followed each mouthful. My wife ordered the coconut creme corn. The corn looked like the soft consistency of canned corn and looked a bit watery. As a do over, Id pick beans, fries or potato salad next time. I was a bit disappointed with the rootbeer. I found it unflavorful and a bit dilluted. After having one, it isnt something Id look forward to ordering again.Competition is tough because there are lots of restaurants in the area for BBQ. Improvement could be made by offering a single meat place and excelling at fewer flavorful sides to improve the quality and overall experience of the meal.
Nekter Juice Bar
2937 El Camino Real B, Tustin, CA 92782, United States
Really disappointed with this place. I've gone 3 times in the last week and keep trying to validate it. They either get the toppings wrong, don't give enough toppings, toppings are poor quality, and or provide poor service. Not to mention I always order online because it takes forever otherwise. This morning I waited over 20 mins in store to be given three different bowls that were all wrong and not what I ordered in the first place. They ran out of pitaya and didn't tell me until I was there even though I prepaid using mobile order. We subbed açaí, then every bowl they handed me was wrong. Finally just left with the third bowl which had bananas in the base which I strongly dislike and specifically subbed out on my original order- oh and it literally had 1 strawberry on it.They don't read the order, chat the whole time and don't care about the quality of food or service provided. No one tried to make me feel anything less than swindled out of another $11 bucks. Yesterday the pineapple on my bowl looked like it came out of a can. I'll update this if they reach out, I tried calling and no one answered the line.I'll be frequenting the orchard hills location moving forward. The first time I tried that place I realized what the pineapple should actually look and taste like.
Green Tomato Grill
1419 N Tustin St, Orange, CA 92867, United States
Great place for healthy food, vegans, and vegetarians. I tried the blueberry waffle, chickpea curry, and jalapeno mandarin lemonade. The waffle and curry were both vegan and delicious. The lemonade was refreshing but I couldnt taste the jalapeno or mandarin. My friend tried the teriyaki bowl and said it was good. The prices are standard for a healthy restaurant, and it was clean.
