Best pho in North County. We moved home to Carlsbad after 12 years in Seattle which as some of the best Vietnamese restaurants and this District 1’s broth and preparation is on par with those in Seattle. We order from here at least once a week.

Jeune et Jolie
2659 State St Suite 102, Carlsbad, CA 92008, United States
I had one of the best dinners of my life here. We celebrated my wife's birthday and had a wonderful experience. We sat near the executive chef's prepping station so we got to hear him call out orders as they came in and his staff respond “oui chef” with each order. This made it feel almost like we were dining in the kitchen adding another layer of excitement to the evening. The ambiance is very Art Deco and highly stylized with no detail left untouched, from the circular shapes noticeable on the table edges, bar top and mirrors to the fine gold finishings it had that staple of old time elegance. The bathrooms even had a level of detail you would expect from a trip to four seasons or the ritz Carlton. The tables were far enough apart you could drift of in delight with your family or embrace your neighbors and delight in the decadence you are being served. We ordered the chef's prefix 6 course menu and I have to say it was the perfect amount of food and will earn them a Michelin star. The first course was a soup served in a hand crafted double shot glass. This little taste of soup was by far the best soup I've ever had, it had all the components That made me want to have a bowl of the stuff I knew at that moment we were in for a special treat. Next up was an oyster served chef style with his blend of horseradish and beat that we're so well balanced I was speechless. We then we served a seared ahi with roasted capers, white bean paste, Demi-glaze and bitter salad. Next was a Asian infused dish that had a rice portage topped with egg yolk mushrooms bacon dust and a tasteful amount of spice. This Asian infusion was reminiscent of the Tofu house off convoy or the new Vietnamese bowl place in the windmill food hall, which was such a great turn in the meal to prepare us for the Scallop with an olive oil foam and shredded Brussel sprout, I have never had a scallop taste so sweet in my life! The texture and taste was incredible and not just while eating it but while we talked and waited between courses the flavors of each course lingered in a very pleasant way. Next up was the main event the wagu beef with a potato cake of sorts this was a perfect slice of potato and meat to tie the meal in a bow. My wife finished with the black cod in a bone broth and I have to say I may have enjoyed that even more than the beef!I didn't realize a dessert was included in the Pre fix but was so delighted to have some sort of layered mouse strawberry deconstruction cake that was such a treat. My wife loves chocolate so we also indulged in a chocolate peanut butter cake with a side of ice cream that was incredible, I may come back here just for dessert some time! So good. And for her birthday if this wasn't enough they brought out a blood orange cranberry gelatin and Carmel sea salt cream tart that mixed so amazingly I had goosebumps while eating it.The executive chef was very friendly and we were able to complement him and his entire staff and thank him for the delightful meal.We will be dining here again. Please enjoy my photos and video of our date night.
Caf Topes
3091 Roosevelt St, Carlsbad, CA 92008, United States
Bright open airy cafe with a surfer vibe in the heart of Carlsbad Village. Food and drink choices are creative and delicious! Delighted to find Cafe Topes sources from some of our favorite local establishments (Prager Bros bread for toast-so good. Seaside market tri tip - oh wow - you must try anything with this in it or on it - I can't even describe the flavor and deliciousness of this famous “Cardiff Crack”!) Service with a smile was friendly, efficient and fun. We hardly sat down and already our coffee drinks were arriving. Delicious rich strong smooth and beautiful coffees! Food was well prepared and all ingredients were fresh and of the highest quality. I had veggie scramble and was surprised to find so many types of veg included, even green beans and asparagus. Absolutely delicious. Nothing over salted or greasy. My husband said his sausage breakfast burrito (with house made chips) was the best breakfast burrito he's ever had! We are excited about returning soon to try anything/everything else on the menu, especially the cinnamon rolls. We visited mid- week, mid-day, so no problem finding street parking and no line to order at the counter. Weekends you may have to be patient. It's worth it!? PS- dog and kid friendly. Inside or out it's spacious. Front tables are along the sidewalk, side of building is fairly large patio with umbrellas enclosed with a fence.5/16/24 - and we are back again! Same amazing friendly welcoming service. Coffee drinks and food both come out really fast. Hubby said his mushroom cheeseburger was really good - on par with what he makes at home. Not sure he's ever said that about a restaurant burger! I had The 222 with French toast (great crisp on outside, custard-creamy inside. Amazing). Sub'd avocado for the meat. Eggs perfectly cooked, fluffy and light not dry. Fruit on top was actually ripe and delicious.Another exceptional experience. We will definitely be back again to try more!??
Tabu Shabu Bressi Ranch
2674 Gateway Rd Suite 190, Carlsbad, CA 92009, United States
This was a great dinner experience. I never had a Japanese hot pot dinner before. It reminded me of a mix between German style fondue and Vietnamese Pho.Here - the broth was great. I had ribeye as the protein and it was sliced super thin. The veggies were plenty. The waitress was great advising regarding how spicy it could be.Service was great and the overall dinner experience was really good. I was glad the place was fairly empty as it was indoors only. The restaurant was clean and the service was great. Restroom is an all gender style bathroom but it was clean as well.
Cinpolis Luxury Cinemas La Costa Paseo Real
6941 El Camino Real, Carlsbad, CA 92009, United States
First off i want to say I am a loyal Cinepolis rewards member and have always had a good experience at your theaters. I usually go to the Vista location but today, I visited the La Costa location for the first time and I was excited about experiencing the luxury advertised. I went to watch Bad Boys in room 6 at 4pm with my husband. I paid $12 for 1 ticket and used the complimentary ticket i had earned with my rewards points.Unfortunately, my entire experience was just awful from the second I walked in, to the second I had to leave without even finishing the movie I paid to watch in luxury. When I walked in, no one greeted me or even acknowledged me, it was not welcoming at all. Then when I asked a staff member about the cinepolis combo, they replied I dont know and left me hanging to figure it out on my own. That is terrible customer service.I arrived to my seat at 3:30pm and promptly pressed the service button so I could order some food. It took 20 mins for someone to come take my order, and another 20 mins for the food to arrive. I ordered 1 bottomless popcorn, 1 bottomless soda, 1 hersheys pretzels, and a meat lovers pizza. I understand the pizza taking longer, but I expected the soda, drink, and pretzels to be served faster than 20 mins. Then in the middle of the movie, the screen blacked out and i had to get out of my seat to notify staff. It took staff 10 mins to restart the movie. About 30 mins later the screen blacked out again and I got up for the 2nd time to complain to staff. It took them another 10 mins to restart the movie. At this point I just wanted to leave and get a refund because this luxury experience was not what I paid for nor expected. So for the 3rd time I go to complain to the manager and just ask if I can get a refund as I no longer intended to stay for the rest of the movie due to all the things going wrong. The manager then said if I went back to my seat, he would be giving everyone complimentary tickets. So I went back to my seat and a few mins later the manager walked in and started handing out little folded papers. I opened mine to see what was inside and saw mine was empty. I looked around to see if it had slipped out of the folded paper but didnt see it. So for the 4th time I got up to complain. I told the manager I didnt receive anything and he treated me like a liar and said it has to be there. I told him I looked for it and he said he would look for it himself. So I went back to my seat. A few mins later 2 staff members walk in with the manager and they start looking for my missing free ticket. All this was very distracting. They couldnt find it and they left again. At this point I decided my whole entire experience had been completely ruined and I just wanted to get my money back and leave. I got up for the 5th and final time to complain. I gave the manager back his 1 complimentary ticket which my husband had received and just asked if I could be fully refunded for my waste of time and money. He refused to refund me for the $43.92 for the food and only refunded me $12 for the one ticket I paid for. I was never refunded for my complimentary ticket that I used with my rewards points. The manager stated he couldnt refund me for the food we had started to eat. Keep in mind we left a full soda and bowl of popcorn in our seats. I am writing to request a full refund because this was just unacceptable. I paid for a luxury experience...I paid to eat food while enjoying a movie. If I was just going to pay for food without enjoying a movie, I most certainly wouldnt pay over $43 for what I received or even for what I did eat. I would greatly appreciate it if you could have a corporate member respond to my issue in a prompt and professional manner so that we may resolve this matter as soon as possible. Thank you.
Windmill Food Hall
890 Palomar Airport Rd, Carlsbad, CA 92011, United States
Super disappointed with this place. Let me preface by saying the lady that worked here was very nice and helpful, but the food was AWFUL. And very expensive...not the best combination. We went for the Sunday buffet and I urge anyone who wants to try this to reconsider. It is $30 per person first of all, so you would expect this to be a rather decent buffet. Barely any options (the pictures of the buffet are false advertisement because they dont have half the stuff they advertised) It was cafeteria food at best, which might not even be fair to say because my high schools cafeteria had WAY better food than this. I think they may have just bought a bunch of stuff from Food for Less and dumped it into metal trays. The orange juice was 80% water and 20% juice. Not an exaggeration. It was orange in color but tasted like water with a faint hint of orange. Youre really going to cheap out on the only beverage option (besides gas station tier coffee)? Sunny D would have been a major upgrade. I wouldnt visit this buffet again if it was $10 per person..or heck, even free. This didnt come anywhere close to Dennys quality with a worse atmosphere and double the cost. I fully understand now why we were the only patrons for the buffet....
Kinaly Lao & Thai eatery
2508-C1 El Camino Real, Carlsbad, CA 92010, United States
When I walked into the shop, it was very quiet with just one customer inside. Im not sure why, as the food I had is great. The restaurant is quaint and clean. Although there was no one up front to take my order for a few minutes, once they came out, I was greeted with a smile and a very polite cashier. She was attentive to my order and very pleasant to talk with. I placed my order to go and then stepped out for a few minutes while they prepared my order. The menu here is robust. I chose the pad see ew with tofu as my protein. I additionally ordered their Thai spring rolls with tofu as my protein. The pad sew ew was extremely flavorful! The portion is huge and actually fed my daughter and I. The flat, glass noodles were tender and packed with flavor from the brown sauce. You get hints of sweet, savory, and a mild hint of garlic as well. There are plenty of vegetables and tofu strewn within the dish. Excellent is what comes to mind when I think about its flavors. The spring rolls were my highlight. The rice paper wrapper was pliable and held up to the heavily stuffed roll. You could taste the fresh flavors of the thinly sliced and crisp carrots, bran sprouts, rice noodles, fresh mint, and crunchy lettuce. The peanut sauce served on the side for dipping was creamy, with a great combination of sweet, spicy, salty, and savory. A perfect compliment to the dish!
Starbucks
7130 Avenida Encinas, Carlsbad, CA 92011, United States
This location is closed yet again!, most likely more water pouring down from the ceiling. Anyway, this location has the worst staff. First and foremost Leah is not only rude but a fat liar! She has no idea what customer service is. She makes up stories about customers and hates the people she works with. Shes a real winner! Only Starbucks would higher her and keep her. On top of dirty bathroom and tables inside that are ALWAYS DIRTY!Im hoping with this closure and bad service this location will end up like the Starbucks in Del Mar on 15th street that is now closed permanently! Yes!Dont bother with the horrible customer service and management at this location. You can get coffee anywhere and better. Keep the real coffee shops going and run Starbucks and its privileged brats who work there into the ground. The more Starbucks I see closing its doors the better. First it was Starbucks Encinitas on the 101 and now Del Mar. Hopefully this location is next.
