Pick Up Stix Fresh Asian Flavors
7150 Avenida Encinas, Carlsbad, CA 92011, United States
Stay far away from this place, the manager is rude and ignorant and lacks any kind of customer service. I ordered Fire Cracker Tofu because we are strict vegetarians and when we got home it was chicken. I called the store and told the manager about the mistake, he kept insisting that I ordered chicken when I didn't, he continued to argue with me and insisted I bring it back. I told him I lived on the other side of Carlsbad so I asked him if he could give me a refund, he insisted I bring it back and then he would, I said I can't because I'm handicapped. Now this he didn't care about, he just wanted me back in the store to return the food so he could give it to someone else. He said, “well I can check the cameras.” I said go ahead and check them, he said, “I can't now but I will tomorrow.”I asked to speak to the manager, he said “I am the manager.” Wow I can't believe a business would treat a customer this way for $23!!!I asked his name and he hung up on me!Tomorrow I am calling the corporate office and report him. It's very sad because I really like their Fire Cracker Tofu, you couldn't pay me to do any kind of business with this guy.The company needs to give customer service training.2/9th updateI finally received a call from his regional director, she was applauded by the managers treatment. She stated that they would reimburse my money (which they did) and also send me a couple of coupons for free meals. She said if I download their app she would send them to me via the app, this never happened.
Chins Szechwan - Carlsbad
2820 Roosevelt St, Carlsbad, CA 92008, United States
Stumbled upon this Chinese restaurant the other night while driving home. The waitress working was so kind and maintained great customer service while juggling bunch of phone and delivery orders.Black Pepper steak - 10/10Honey walnut shrimp - this isnt something I usually prefer at a Chinese restaurant but the waitress recommended it since its the most popular 10/10Ma La Three Flavor - had shrimp, chicken, & beef. I love the numbing spice and got a 5 out of 5 spicy. Dont be hesitant to order 5. I would say its a pretty normal spice and Im not one to eat too spicy. 10/10Chow Mein - the noodles are fried and it comes with the sauce that you pour on top. I didnt expect the whole thing to be fried and its usually not for me. Overall still great flavor just wouldnt order again. 8/10Salt & pepper wings - amazing! Must get this when you come 10/10
Surf Brothers Teriyaki And Catering
2708 Loker Ave W #103, Carlsbad, CA 92010, United States
Nine times out of ten the food quality is very good, I enjoy the steak more than the chicken. I have been going to the store in Encinitas most of my adult life. I moved jobs and now Carlsbad location is closest to me for lunch. The last three times I went in has been a struggle. I called and spoke with one of the owners who identified himself as the older brother and asked that I give them another chance and to call him before I went in so he could cover my meal for me. I went down today and tried to call him but was unable to get ahold of him so I went in and ordered anyway. While I was ordering I asked if they could make sure there was enough rice. The woman taking my order squinted at me and acted like she didnt understand, I had a hard time understanding her too so I thought this was totally possible, so I spoke slower and enunciated my words. She then asked if I would like to forgo the salad for extra rice. As I had obviously failed to communicate the first two times I surrendered to her idea. she then turned to me and said sorry they already made it, sorry. Then proceeded to try to help the next customer. I told her if my food could not be made correctly then I would like a refund please. This too was met with resistance by both her and the person who eventually gave me my refund. Everyone makes mistakes. its how those mistakes were handled and how I was treated for pointing them out that leaves a bad taste in my mouth. I will still try the Encinitas location, if I am ever in the area, but as for my employees and myself, we will not be returning to Carlsbad.
House of Bao

One of the worst culinary experiences in the history of eating. I must stress it is only this location in the Carlsbad Outlets - we love the others. The woman who helped us could not have cared less. She was uninterested and watching a show. We asked for dumplings and she said they were sold out (if that's the case, mark it on your menu) so we went for BBQ pork buns. She pulled them out of a cooler and microwaved them for like 12 seconds. Then she just handed them to my husband in zip lock bags- no carton, no napkins, no dipping sauces- just two hot zip lock bags. The buns stuck to the zip lock bags and were only partially warm. We wound up throwing them away. What a waste of money. Do better. Jesus Christ.

Blue Ocean Robata & Sushi Bar
2958 Madison St #100, Carlsbad, CA 92008, United States
I recently made the mistake of ordering takeout from Blue Ocean Robata & Sushi Bar, and it was a complete disaster. From the moment I tried to picked up my order, it was clear that this restaurant had no regard for customer satisfaction.Firstly, we ordered directly from their website and got a confirmation email and texts on the order and prepayment via CC and when to pick up food. I was surprised how long the initial time to pick up was (just under an hour) given it was quite early (5pm), then when I went to pick up the order is when it all went south! As I was pulling in I received another text saying the order would be available for pick up yet another 15 minutes later - so we are now at 1 hour 15 minutes for a small order at a sushi restaurant? So I then went in to see if I could get some status on the order. At first they were confused on whether if it was a Doordash order or a pickup and finally said it was in the process of being packaged up, so I waited outside for a while. A Doordash driver showed up and then they motioned me in to see if that was my order, it was not. At that point I was very specious about what was going on with my order and started to ask a lot of questions, they put me off and said they would check on it. The manager proceeded to help several other customers and ignored me. After that he started to search for the order and said they had no record of it. I showed them the texts I had received that even had a link to display the order from their website, but he still insisted they had no record of it and then started to place the blame on me that I did something wrong while ordering? Saying that all the orders go to Door-dash (trying to blame them) and then saying maybe I ordered from a different location (I showed him the correct address from the text & link I had). I asked for a refund immediately, he refused saying he couldnt and offered to make the order and have me wait another 45 minutes, REALLY? At this point my dinner and evening were ruined, but the manager showed absolutely no empathy, caring or any remorse.Lastly, the customer service was non-existent. When I called to express my dissatisfaction with the order, I was met with indifference and a complete lack of empathy, they called me non-compliant - I didnt know a customer was to be Compliant!. It was clear that they had no interest in rectifying the situation or making things right for their customers. It was a clear display of their disregard for customer satisfaction. In conclusion, I strongly advise against ordering takeout from Blue Ocean Robata & Sushi Bar. The lack of customer service make it a complete waste of time and money. Save yourself the disappointment and find a different restaurant that actually values their customers and takes pride in the quality of their food.
Kaiseki Sushi
1935 Calle Barcelona #172, Carlsbad, CA 92009, United States
My husband and I tried Kaiseki this past weekend for the first time and everything we ordered was spectacular!! The most freshest, highest quality ingredients Ive had from a local sushi place in a very long time. The place is very tiny. I think it was the old Cold Stone. We ordered takeout and will probably continue to do so in lieu of dining in. The staff was super nice and helpful. Please plan on waiting patiently for your food! For reference, I called at 2:05pm on Sunday when it wasnt super busy. Our order was ready at 2:55pm...so almost an hour. Many of the items weve tried we never had before and they were excellent: The black cod, butter fish, black snapper...all fantastic. The Catalina and Salmon Citrus Roll awesome! The portion of the yellowtail sashimi seemed to be smaller than what Im used to but absolutely worth it...it was the best yellowtail Ive ever had and Ive had a lot! Price point is what you will get most places out.
Krave Asian Fusion Restaurant
6021 Innovation Way Suite 130, Carlsbad, CA 92009, United States
I felt honored to be invited to participate in a soft opening event for Krave Asian Fusion. Although their menu is heavily invested in various Korean Fried Chicken dishes, there are also noodle, burger, fish, and vegan options available (although I didn't find any Gluten Free items).Executive Chef and owner Will Chen was present and was careful to explain that this isn't his first launch, but rather an expansion of his initial footprint first planted in Orange County, California (where his fried chicken has been recognized as award winning). Both the number of courses and portions at this event were generous. Each of the chicken dishes featured very distinctive flavors with my favorite being the “Chinese Chili” offering. It was covered in a sweet and crispy shell with a tender and flavorful chicken center that reminded me of the Lemon Chicken dishes that I've enjoyed elsewhere. A close second for me was the “Spicy” version. I sampled it immediately after the “Mango Habanero” (which was pretty spicy and created apprehension about the “spicy” dish that was to follow). Surprisingly I found the “spicy” dish to be less so than the “habanero” dish.To round out the chicken dishes I also sampled the “Soy Chili” (which I found crispy, but not as sweet as the “Chinese Chili”), “Lemon Pepper” (which was a bit salty for my palette), and the “Taiwan 5 Spice” (which had a very thick and crunchy shell).Their other offerings included “Taiwanese Garlic Noodles” (the garlic smell was wonderful and the noodles were light, but buttery, possibly because they were sautéed in olive oil) and the “Loaded Kogi Fries” (the Sriracha Cheddar Sauce was a 2/10 on the hotness scale while the Jalapeños achieved the high score of 6/10).If you enjoy Korean Fried Chicken, Krave is worth your time. And that's…Henry's Take.#sandiegokoreanfriedchicken
Gelsons La CostaCarlsbad
7660 El Camino Real, Carlsbad, CA 92009, United States
If it was possible to give zero stars I would. Had an experience here where we ordered a special cake for a special occasion two weeks before the date we needed it, was told everything would be taken care of and we should pay for it when we pick it up. The date come, March 5th, they claim to have lost the order, didnt make the cake, didnt try to make it right and not even an apology. Basically shrugged their shoulders and said whoops, I guess it wasnt ever made.So we were stuck picking up a cake from a different store and were very upset obviously. When I went online to express my displeasure at the way the whole situation played out on their customer service form on their website. Its been WEEKS now and no response. This place doesnt give a darn about me, you or any of their customers. If the roles had been reversed and I was responsible for basically ruining someones birthday cake I would, first, apologize, second, see if there was anything we could do to find a comparable cake, and third, let my manager know what happened and see how they wanted to help - thats how you MAINTAIN customers. The way we were treated is how you LOSE customers - and the only reason for this review is because of the fact that no one in management cared enough to contact us after reading the customer comment section on the website.I work right down the street and will be taking my business elsewhere from here on, even though I have to drive further to do that. I want to give my money to a company who cares about the experiences of customers in their stores.TLDR: GELSONS couldnt care less about their customers, they want your money, thats it. They dont care to retain longtime customers. If you have a problem be prepared to deal with it yourself without so much as an apology or solution from ANYONE working for this company.
Sushi Kuchi
7180 Avenida Encinas #100, Carlsbad, CA 92011, United States
Hidden gem in Carlsbad. Warning to all the Sushi Aficionados out there though. This is not your high end sushi by the coast or like one of those fine dining sushi that you bring your partner on a special date. This is a sushi restaurant plain and simple. So I have to rate this based on mid-tier level Sushi Place standardsLets start with the food. The food is amazing, the fish are fresh and the portions are just perfect. Price-wise its not that expensive, because if its expensive, Id rather go to a fine dining sushi restaurant. So they just priced their food just right. We tried unagi, tuna and the oyster and non of them failed. Yes they arent cooked but the chef is confident enough to serve it to us, you guys wanna know why? Heres a little Sushi trivia for you guys. When they are that confident in the kitchen that means that they stand proudly behind the FRESHNESS of their fish, mollusks, echinoderms and crustaceans. Now when it comes to service, they are welcoming but I must say that the front requires more training. I ordered a Sake but our server forgot to put it in our bill. Since I am an honest customer, I did point out that it was missing and they are grateful about it. However what does a well trained restaurant do for customers like that? I dont know maybe a free dessert at least to thank them, but nope they just let us walk away. I mean I know it isnt necessary but I just feel that nowadays, how many honest people/customers are out there? Might as well give the good ones reasons to keep on coming back right? Again its no biggie but Im just sayingLast but not least and this is the reason why it went down from 5 stars to 4 stars. Its the ambience. I feel that the place is a bit crowded. Like for example the table next to us is super close i could literally hear the guy breath next to me.Overall, we had a good experience. Wed definitely comeback. Maybe when we do, they do changes that would make this 5 out of 5 in my book
