WaBa Grill
1170 Broadway, Chula Vista, CA 91911, United States
I recently visited WaBa Grill in Chula Vista and had the pleasure of interacting with Colten at the register. I have to say, Colten was an absolute delight to talk to! From the moment I stepped up to the register, they greeted me with a warm smile and friendly demeanor. They were incredibly patient with my questions and took the time to explain the menu items to me in detail. Not only was Colten kind and attentive, but they also displayed an impressive level of efficiency and organization. Despite a long line forming behind me, Colten was able to keep things moving quickly and smoothly, ensuring that every customer was taken care of in a timely manner.Overall, I was very impressed with their performance and believe that they are an asset to the restaurant. Their positive attitude and dedication to excellent customer service truly made my experience at WaBa Grill a memorable one. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for delicious food and exceptional service.
JCK Asia Kitchen and Bar
2322 Proctor Valley Rd suite 104, Chula Vista, CA 91914, United States
You cannot believe how excited I was to see a Chinese restaurant opening up. And when I visited the first time, I found that it was actually an AUTHENTIC Chinese restaurant. And when I say authentic, I truly mean people and cooks speaking in Chinese - both Mandarin and Cantonese! But that wasn't all… the food is absolutely yummy and to get soup dumplings, yummy pan fried dumplings and noddles within walkable distance… I am so tempted to go every week!My kids love the string beans… and that's a complete win! My two older love the dumplings and my husband even said the beef ribs soup was pretty good!I'm definitely a fan and will be heading there more! The menu is small, but everything is made with a lot of thought and done so well!So support local business and head over and try them out!
Vanitea Cafe
525 Telegraph Canyon Rd, Chula Vista, CA 91910, United States
This review is for my phone interaction with a barista who “wasn't comfortable” providing her name because she was terrible over the phone and probably didn't want it to come back to her. But she was working at 2:50pm when I placed an online order and then called immediately. I requested my order be canceled as no time or materials were wasted on making drinks because I called immediately to cancel my order and a refund wasnt offered or yet given.I live in rancho, but when I opened up their ordering system this location was pre-selected as my pick up and I didnt realize it until the order was placed. Screenshot of the order below shows location, order pick up time, and the time the order was placed. I immediately dialed their number, and let them know I ordered to their location when I meant to order to the rancho location. The girl was laughing at me, told me were not really supposed to cancel the order and refund customers who order to the wrong location. I politely pleaded that I live way too far and called right away asking them to cancel. She then tried to tell me (while giggling) that they had already made the order, so my choice was to come pick it up. I got upset and said thats a lie because I placed the order and immediately called them to cancel. My time stamped order and time stamped phone call prove this despite her claim that it had already been made. She put me on hold and then came back giggling saying her manager wasnt there and it was just her and other baristas. She said I could email their manager and told me the info is found on their website. I asked for her name for reference. She told me shes not comfortable sharing her name and then just hung up the phone on me. Im so upset and dumbfounded at this procedure as she called it. Hoping to hear back from management about getting my $10.88 back.

Look for the Taco Bell plaza, the “MJ” sign is really small so look for Yogurt Time sign. This place is a blend of Asian-Mexican cuisine. It has yogurt, smoothies, burritos and rice!I got the 805 burrito ($15) which is under Special Style menu. Choice of meat was loganisa (they said it's the most popular), choice of fries was seasoned fries and choice of egg was over easy. Added shrimp for extra $2.50. Lumpia was also in this burrito mix. Also came with a drink. This burrito is massive! I ate half and that filled me up all day. The season fries (Cajun fries) were crispy so it had a satisfying crunch with every bite. Or was it from the lumpia?? Either way, it was so good. The added creamy house sauce was bomb to the taste buds. Then the egg yoke oozing out was just gratifying. Oh and longanisa was the perfect meat choice that added a bit of sweet and spicy.BF got Buddha Bowl, comes with red rice, 2 meats (we got longanisa and sisig), 2 eggs over easy style, salad w house sauce topped with green onions and sesame seeds. He said longanisa was better than sisig. It wasn't crispy compared to other places. Had the same sauce as the burrito. Also a winner. Came with a drink.Lollicup is next door but I decided to get a drink here called Thai/Mex which was a mix of Thai tea and horchata. I mistakenly thought it was milk tea but it's actually yogurt smoothie like a shake. Not my favorite and didn't sit well with my stomach. However, they gave out free yogurt sample and OMG, no wonder why this place is called “Yogurt time and deli”. 9 yogurt flavor options. I got a blend of ube and pandan. It was rich, thick, and flavorful. Both flavors were distinct and powerful. For sure coming back for more. Thank you for the “free dessert”. You gained a customer!
Teriyaki Grill
380 3rd Ave B, Chula Vista, CA 91910, United States
What a lovely, CLEAN, casual atmosphere on 3rd Avenue! The employees are kind and attentive and the food is freshly prepared but... The portions were very disappointing. We enjoyed a very tasty salmon bento box but... for $18+ you would expect to get a decent portion of rice to go with the salmon filet (decent portion of salmon but I was struggling to find any rice or Teriyaki sauce on the plate! See picture.) The vegetables were delicious!!! Only two, tiny fried gyoza come on a small bed of mixed salad. The ginger dressing for the salad is served separately and was good but it was so much compared to the amount of salad you get.The actual white plate that the food comes on is huge and adds to the illusion that the food portion is small, which it totally is. It did not scream bento box.The lemongrass curry sauce on the wings was super yummy even though the wings could have been much crispier. They have canned sodas, canned Thai tea and green tea, Sapporo and other beers.I would reluctantly go back to try some other menu items but I wont expect good portions.

Izakaya Naruto
1216 3rd Ave, Chula Vista, CA 91911, United States
I love this place so much, we live down the street walking distance. The food was great the guys working were very nice and welcoming. We could tell they were new so our food took a little long to get, I was understanding of that. What I did not appreciate was the owner just looking over his workers and telling them whats wrong. He couldve stepped in and helped, model the work for them. I had ordered the crunchy roll and it took an hour to get, our original server had taken it to a different table so I had to wait longer. At the end, another server, (he seemed like he was training our server) took care of the bill he said he would take the crunchy roll out, I didnt ask him to but it was a nice gesture. When the bill came it had the crunchy roll and when I asked him, I thought you said youd take it off the owner came up to us and said they dont normally do that because its a restaurant and situations happen. I then responded, The server said he would take it off, I waited a long time and it got taken to a different table. He then started talking a different language with the server who got my bill and I could only think he was badmouthing me. I explained to the young server, We love your food its amazing, it seems there are new people so I understand the turn around time is not ideal. He said thank you and also seemed nervous afterward, dont know if he got in trouble for taking the item off of our bill. I still left them a good tip. My intention is not to badmouth the guys working. I appreciated all of them and again the food was well worth it. We would come back again, hopefully then the service will be more efficient. But the owner...he was not nice, did not seem nice to his workers and not understanding. Maybe other people take advantage, we were not trying to take advantage. Kudos to the team serving, making the food, taking phone orders. No hard feelings, you guys are awesome!
Mexipino Craft
1660 Broadway #14, Chula Vista, CA 91911, United States
As you can figure out, the restaurant is Mexican-Asian fusion. Everything from Tocino to Bangus (pronounced bangoose with a soft g) to Chilaquiles. They have traditional Mexican, Filipino, and American style dishes available on the menu. I was impressed with the food and service. Me and the friend had the Mexipino Hash and Chilaquiles, paired with coffee and a refreshing calamansi drink. Very tasty and generous portions. We will be back to try the rest of the breakfast and lunch menu. I would recommend this place!
Kanpai Restaurant
301 Palomar St, Chula Vista, CA 91911, United States
I have been coming to this restaurant with my family since I was 4 years old in 1994 after my dad retired from the Navy following his last stint of service in Misawa. While I don't remember being four eating there, I can tell you every experience I have eaten there has been incredibly enjoyable despite not remembering the first. Beside the food always being amazing including the last time a month ago, they are always incredibly consistent.Misako, more often than not was the one serving our table for at least 20 years( probably have eaten here with my family 300+ times). The other reviews stating their amazing hospitality are not wrong in the slightest. To the other familiar and long time faces of the staff, I'm sorry I don't remember your names but you have always provided the same amazing service and food! I'm pretty sure the man behind the sushi bar and grill has been there as long as I can remember. While I no longer live in Chula Vista anymore I always look forward to visiting two places when I come back: Kanpai(“Cactus Butt” we called it lovingly, as it had a great sign logo of a raccoon with a spikey looking tail in the past holding a lantern, I was sad to not see him the last time I was there, but that didn't change anything about the experience, food or service!) and home. Thanks again for being the best Japanese restaurant I've ever been to (including a few in Japan!)
P.F. Changs
2015 Birch Rd Ste 1401, Chula Vista, CA 91915, United States
This is not your typical 5-star review. Its not about flawless execution or unparalleled excellence. No, this review is about one persons exceptional problem-solving skills: Manager Jesus. Thanks to his swift actions and ability to handle a challenging situation, PF Changs Eastlake earns all five stars. So, a big thank you to Jesus, the hero of PF Changs Eastlake! Now, if youre interested in the gripping story of what happened, get ready for a rollercoaster of inefficiency, staff mistakes, and one managers exceptional ability to turn things around. If youd rather skip the drama and go straight to the verdict, rest assured that the food at PF Changs Eastlake is excellent, especially their gluten-free options, and you can trust that the manager is more than capable of tackling high-pressure situations like a boss.We placed a larger take-out order of $100+ on July 7th around 6 pm. We parked outside at stall #4 and called the number on the sign. However, the system had long prompts, making it less than ideal. When someone finally answered, they lacked professionalism and struggled to understand the name on the order. They assured us the order would be brought out when ready and asked for the stall number. After thirty minutes, we called again, hoping for good news. This time, a different person answered and we asked about our order. Surprisingly, they didnt ask for the stall number, assuming they had it from our previous call. We then saw a staff member hand a bag to someone outside the restaurant without any questions. It seemed like a mistake had been made. Concerned, we went inside and approached the hostess stand. When we asked about our order, we were told it wasnt ready, which seemed odd. We requested an estimate of the wait time and noticed staff gathering behind the stand, indicating a problem. When the hostess returned, our suspicions were confirmed—they had given our order to the wrong person.Frustration peaked after waiting over an hour amidst inefficiencies and unprofessionalism. We decided to ask for a manager. Jesus, the hero, came out and listened to our concerns. He apologized sincerely and assured us the order would be remade, though there would be a wait. Remarkably, Jesus offered to comp the entire order. We were truly grateful. We waited at the bar and discovered Voodoo Ranger, one of the best beers on tap, adding a glimmer of positivity to the situation. Around 7:40 pm, Jesus personally handed us our order. His attention to detail made all the difference.Heres to you, Jesus! Your exceptional skills in managing high-pressure situations deserve applause. Thank you for swiftly resolving a predicament caused by a staff mistake. It is for this reason that PF Changs Eastlake earns a well-deserved 5-star review. I have no doubt that the restaurant will learn from these incidents and improve its processes. To future patrons of PF Changs Eastlake, expect excellent food, especially the gluten-free options. And if, by some unfortunate twist of fate, you find yourself caught in unforeseen events, take solace in knowing that Jesus, the remarkable manager, will be there to save the day.Happy dining!
