Patakan Thai Restaurant
711 Fair Oaks Ave # M, South Pasadena, CA 91030, United States
WOW. It is hard to find really good thai food and this place gets it right! I am so grateful that the noodles in my pad thai were not soggy and sticking together in a lump. They were the perfect al dente. This is honestly the first time Ive had pad thai since I moved to LA and was really impressed by the doneness of the noodles. My boyfriend had the green curry and said it was delicious. He also had their mango green tea and claims it is his new favorite beverage. Haha. I went back to Patakan again and had the beef pad see ew with Chinese broccoli. It was awesome. Everything I expect and want from pad see ew. I am so glad I found this place! Where have you been the last 5 years Patakan???
Red Corner Restaurant
701 N Fair Oaks Ave, Pasadena, CA 91103, United States
This place is the one I always prefer. I visit a lot of restaurants but to this restaurant I constantly return again and again. The crew is very amicable and the cuisine they cook is so fresh and tasty. I never decline to have a nice meal here. Highly recommended.
Asian n Cajun 2
8121 Greenback Ln, Fair Oaks, CA 95628, United States
This place is pricey but fantastic & worth every cent. Always order the garlic noodles but the garlic fries are good too. The General Tsos is great, the Mongolian beef is probably the best thing on the menu. The fresh steamed rice & hot tea are both excellent. Chicken lo mein is superb. My family eats here a lot because its close but its also very fast & the food quality is incredible. Id go as far as to say its the best Asian food Ive had in the Citrus Heights/Fair Oaks/Orangevale area. I just wish they would lower their prices a bit. If they did wed eat there even more frequently. I hope this place thrives. They deserve it. Easy 5* restaurant.
Panda Express
1216 Fair Oaks Ave, South Pasadena, CA 91030, United States
Great pick up options like curbside, pickup, or traditional ordering. Parking in the rear or on main road Fair Oaks.Reason for lowering stars is that there is always an issue with arriving to pickup app order.App shows 1 time and confirmation email will show another time.I end up waiting 5-10 minutes and have to walk in to ask if my order is ready.Should have intercom speaker and call out name every 3 minutes in case order was made sooner than pickup time.Lastly, any time I ask for certain items via app like chopsticks, sauces, etc. They NEVER provide it which means they do not read the note.
Chef Bo Sacramento
2310 Fair Oaks Blvd, Sacramento, CA 95825, United States
I have had a couple of solo lunch plates here, within the last 6 months. Not really special, but standard & consistent Chinese food. However, recently I fed my crew of 6 workers one Saturday when we were on a particularly tough project. We ordered from Chef Bo based on a take out menu I had. My crew was very hungry and on a time deadline, so they ate, in spite of the poor quality of the food & the preparation. My order also was dreadful. But for my training I would not have finished. Even the Hot & Sour soup was watery and unpleasant. When I have time I will stop in and try to share this experience. I wont be eating there for the foreseeable future.
Panda Express
8929 Madison Ave, Fair Oaks, CA 95628, United States
I've switched to the vegetables instead of rice and chow mein. Now, I've had a gastric bypass, so I don't eat very much. In fact, one of these bowls with the main dish on top of it usually last me three meals. However, I often need to get a small side of the main dish because they never EVER give you enough to fully complement the side dish. Well today when I switched to the vegetables, that woman served up such a small serving of vegetables in my bowl, as well as my main course that you would've swore she's paying for it herself! If y'all recall when Panda Express opened it was incredibly impressive how they gave you so much food for the price. Now it's totally unimpressive how little food they give you for the price, and of course, the price now is twice as much as it was when they first started. Half the food twice the price that's Panda Express!! And this one falls right in line with the rest of them cheap cheap cheap.*** UPDATE-after having gone back to this panda express again over the weekend I think I'm done with this one for good now. These people act like they paid for all the food that's cooked in that place out of their own pockets, which we all know isn't true!! Plus the new night managers are boring, barely borderline friendly, and stingy as hell with their serving sizes. Basically it's not some place I care to give my hard earned American money to anymore. I'm so tired of Panda acting like every broccoli flower, green bean, or piece of chicken is going to financially break them, like they're on the verge of bankruptcy all the time or something. For crying out loud people, if I pay you for an order of something I want that container stuffed full, especially if I'm paying your à la cart prices! I don't want half an inch of space at the top by the time I get home and it settles. This is exactly what you do too! You know it, I know it, we ALL know it!! So I'll be going back to Roseville for my Panda Express from now on, or to a real Asian restaurant, and Panda can continue serving up their partial orders to whomever chooses to continue paying to much for to little from their boring minuscule little menu!! I know It won't be me!!
Szechuan Garden
4804 San Juan Ave, Fair Oaks, CA 95628, United States
I have been a long time customer of Szechuan Garden. However, on March 6th, my mother had food delivered to her house and there was an awful smell to it. After pulling the food out of the bag, it was found that the mongolian beef had a horrid smell to it. Due to our busy schedule, we were not able to call the restaurant that night, hence why we had it delivered. We ate what we could but were not able to even take a bite of the beef due to the horrid smell. The next day we called the restaurant and informed them of the situation and the lady on the phone rudely interrupted me and stated we dont have rot food. I was polite and informed her that we have been long time customers and have never had an issue but would just like the credit for the beef that we were not able to eat. She kept yelling at me telling me WE HAVE LOTS OF LOYAL CUSTOMERS, WE DONT CARE ABOUT YOU!, if you want to prove to me your food is rotten, you bring it to the restaurant!. Finally, we drove down to the restaurant. We asked the lady if she was the one we spoke to on the phone and she immediately got defensive show me the rot, show me the rot! My mother gave her the food and she refused to take it. The manager did not want to give us a refund of the food or give us a credit for the next time we order from them. Then one of their rude customers started yelling at both me and my mother, telling us to just get the F*** out you fat B**** (please note, this lady was at least 100lbs bigger then me). We were not trying to cause a scene and politely came in with the food as they had demanded. The manager wound up THROWING $10 at my mother and told us to get out. Needless to say, we will not be ordering from them again.Szechuan Garden, you have lost a loyal customer due to your lack of compassion and professionalism. We will be contacting the health board regarding your standard of food.
Shogun Sushi
7330 Fair Oaks Blvd #10, Carmichael, CA 95608, United States
I am extremely disgusted with my experience from this restaurant. I say disgusted because I was served ROTTEN TUNA on 6/11 and I have waited 8 days now for a refund (promised by Alex the owner)...still on 6/19 I have had zero communication since this incident.I have gone to Shogun sushi for close to 10 years. Ive gone there for multiple birthdays in my family, special occasions, as well as normal casual dining nights (it was easily the best in the area for such occasions).Unfortunately, that is not the case anymore. Shogun has been run by a new sushi chef and staff for the last 5 months (according to the owner).I was given ROTTEN TUNA. It smelled terrible and was placed in a box with all of my other food. I called and spoke to multiple servers and hosts and I was treated like I was the problem. It took 3 phone calls because people kept hanging up on me and/or dismissing the problem. One of the staff members (a host, who was a young man) told me my fish was torched which is why my tuna had a brown color to it without checking with anyone. He told me such false information rather than escalating a problem to the chefs or managers. The fact that he just said their ROTTEN fish was torched and that was the reasoning for the color, and then to just hang up assuming he was right to do so is so alarming.I also spoke to a hostess who put me on hold and then told me the sushi chef/owner will call me back. (Again let me remind everyone, this ROTTEN fish was in the box with my entire order and they didnt find it important enough to handle immediately.)I wanted someone to address my problem before they kept serving rotten fish but it was very low on their priority list. Im sure its annoying and frustrating to deal with customers problems but it felt very important to me to address food safety concerns but it didnt seem important to them at all.It wasnt until I refused to leave information or stay on hold that I finally talked with Alex (the owner). He told me they were sorry and he would look into the order and they are just starting out (5 months now) and he would talk to the staff about food quality. He promised me a full refund on my order. It has been 8 days and I have yet to receive any refund, store credit, or even a phone call or anything else trying to remedy the situation. I told him my money was the least of my problems. My biggest worry was their handling of the situation and how little it mattered to the entire staff (hosts, hostesses, servers, and sushi chefs.) He assured me he would communicate with the new team and train accordingly. He promised me a full refund on my entire order, and yet It has been 8 days. I do not think this restaurant understands the severity of the problem or the gravity of their responsibility to serve food that is fresh when giving a community raw options. It is very important to note that it only takes 2 cases of food poisoning in order to become a food outbreak with the health department. This establishment does not care about food safety, serving their community, as well as any form of understanding or respect.I would truly discourage ANYONE from eating at this restaurant. If you enjoy quality fish, avoid at all costs. They serve ROTTEN fish and dont care to remedy the situation. Each staff member I talked to was dismissive and rude and acted as if I was the problem for calling to complain. I am never a Karen or Kevin. The entire staff from hosts to servers and sushi chefs all dismissed me. I was hung up on twice. Please avoid this restauarant. Life is too short to waste time or money on such a place.
Bento Box Fair Oaks
2449 Fair Oaks Blvd, Sacramento, CA 95825, United States
Food is great. Unfortunantly last night I ordered for a pick up. According to the prices for this restaurant on their own website, my order should have come out to $43.22+tax. My actual charge was $56+tax. When I asked about the disparity in prices, I was told that new prices have been in effect for a long time, and that the prices advertised in their website are no longer the correct prices(bait and switch and illegal in California). Deluxe combo plate says its $15.99 on their website, and I was charged $23. I was charged $1 and $2 more than advertised for the rolls, and $2.50 more than advertised for the pot stickers. Either the employees are ripping g off th3 customers and charging them more at checkout, or the owners are in on the scam. Either way, wont eat there again, and I have been a customer since the place first opened in LohmannsUpdate: to whomever replied to my review as the owner.I had already contacted your restaurant a few hours b4 you posted your reply to contact you. I left my name and phone number, however the employee who answered the phone said they were busy getting ready for opening, and would have you clal me back. Apparently that messege never reached you.
Saladang Garden
383 S Fair Oaks Ave, Pasadena, CA 91105, United States
FOODSPICY THAI FRIES $12The seasoning was tasty, but the texture of the fries was mediocre. They were akin to grocery store frozen fries. The portion was large, though, too much for two people.LEMONGRASS SOUP (TOM YUM) Small w/shrimp $10Pleasant broth, but the soup contained too many inedible ingredients. The galangang slices felt and tasted like raw ginger. There was quite a bit of some kind of woody shoot (bamboo?). The texture of the lime leaf was unpleasantly firm/waxy.PUMPKIN CURRY w/ chicken $15 & WHITE RICE $2.50Enjoyable, but not spectacular.GREEN BEAN & SHIITAKE MUSHROOM STIR-FRY w/ beef $16Sent this one back. The veggies were good, but the beef was tough and overcooked. It seemed like it had been microwaved. Some pieces were cool or lukewarm while others were piping hot.SERVICEThree different young ladies helped us. No one was rude, but neither was anyone particularly friendly. When the soup was brought out, the server asked us what else we had ordered. The fries and entrees arrived shortly after. No one came to see how we were enjoying our meal, so I had to flag someone down about the stir-fry. She did offer something else, so I asked to see the menu again. She left to get us a refill while we looked at the menu but forgot to come back! Eventually another server came along. We were going to order a salad to replace the stir-fry, but it had been so long we just asked for our bill. The girl who had left the menu did come back with the refill and to bus our table while our check was being processed. She said, rather bluntly, I forgot to come back. Did you want something else? She never apologized about the stir-fry or the failure to return for my replacement order, nor did a manager ever appear.ATMOSPHEREThe website boasts: with exquisite décor and elegant ambience, it is the ideal setting for romantic rendezvous. The patio looked lovely, but it was a chilly evening. None of the outdoor heaters were operating, so we opted to sit inside. The dining space has high ceilings and concrete floors, but it felt more abandoned warehouse than hip industrial. There are no booths, just open floorspace with tables and chairs. The food is brought out on noisy rolling carts, which added to the overall cafeteria feel. We didnt get the romantic vibe we were hoping for.OVERALLIt was a disappointing experience for our anniversary dinner. It might be okay for a casual lunch on a nice day to sit outside, but we likely wont return.
