SA BY THAI Restaurant
62 W Santa Clara St, San Jose, CA 95113, United States
This Asian restaurant is right at the edge of the heart of downtown area. This restaurant is open till midnight. However the quality of the Thai food is pretty mediocre. I mean I would love it if I were drunk. If people cant even cook chicken properly then they have some issues. The soups are blant and when you ask em if they can make it Thai level spicy, they will throw some jalapeños in you face. Wow! Limited parking. I would have given it two stars but I feel like th eery will get better. I will give it one more shot soon.
Shus Korean Restaurant
3258 El Camino Real, Santa Clara, CA 95051, United States
Went here for dinner with my little family last night. Tables are set in safe social distances from each other. Family-owned business and they were super nice. Just a few minutes after putting in our order and food was already coming out. They move fast here! Customer service is top-notch and the food...oh the food was oh so AMAZING! We loved every dish we had. Very generous portions too! After our little girls (age 1 and 3) were done eating, they were doing a little exploring by walking back and forth down the aisle. The owners never minded them nor did the other customers that were dining in as well. Everyone was too busy enjoying their delicious dinners! The Bossmom kept waving and saying hi to them. I loved that most. Thank you Shus! Loved the friendly vibe here. We highly recommend this place if youre craving delicious Korean cuisine. We will definitely be back again!
Udupi Cafe Indian Restaurant & Catering Service

I really wanted to like this place, tried 2x before pandemic and the experience was really good one time and so so the 2nd. Decided to give it another try as it's been a few years.I went on Wednesday evening and they were offering live dosa in addition to regular menu service. Decided to try it as they offered 6 or so varieties and it was unlimited for $17.99.The first couple of dosa came out very dark and crispy so had slight bitter aftertaste. So the next rounds instructed cooked to make it less brown and it was slightly better. I tried mysore masala, andhra masala, onion, gongura paneer, cheese dosas. You are probably thinking I am a pig and how was I able to eat this many dosas. They were mini dosas luckily otherwise no way I can try all of these varieties.I didn't find most of the combinations that impressive in terms of flavors unfortunately it could be due to the fact stuffing of dosa wasn't very generous thus insufficient amount to bring out the flavor. Even the potato masala wasn't that great as compared to other South Indian restaurants. They gave pani puri for those who got live dosa. I didn't find it very good and would be disappointed if I had paid for it separately. Puri was too crisp and lacked taste. Stuffing didn't seem to be traditional potato Chana but tomato onion mixture. There may have been potato but was such a scanty amount I missed it. Pani was meh, not terrible but not great either. The coconut chutney and sambar were delicious and the saving grace of the meal. You get serve yourself from the station set up next to live dosa. Sambar is vessel that stays warm which is awesome.Overall not sure I will do live dosa again as I felt I overate to feel I get my $ worth lol. For 2 ppl this meal + mango lassi came out to $50 after tax and tip. This is tad pricy when food wasn't satisfying taste wise. Those of you with less discerning taste and big appetite definitely come here.I love the concept of live dosa. And will come back to try their breakfast buffet sometime in near future.
Beijing Restaurant
1460 Halford Ave, Santa Clara, CA 95051, United States
This Korean-Chinese restaurant has stood the test of time. Typically, these restaurants are popular for a year or so, and then, as more people go through it, the food quality goes down in general. Beijing isnt an exception. When they first opened, the dishes were great including the staple that Korean-Chinese restaurants must get right - THE JJAJANGMYUN. After a couple years though, I felt the food quality drop. Rumors had it that the chef had left or the owner had changed. And it really went downhill. However, in more recent times, like 2018, something happened where food quality started to go back up. Not just the black bean noodles, but all the seafood or meat dishes also got an upgrade. Wait times were kept under control while the service improved as well as the food. And most importantly, the price remained minimally increased. Korean-Chinese cuisine is the staple of weekend eat out for a regular down-to-earth Korean family, And this restaurant is just that, perhaps the only one in the Bay Area. Super happy that Beijing has remained truthful to the authenticity that it needs to stay truthful to the needs of the Korean community here. And yes, weve already been here too many times. And returning for more!
Thai Chili Cuisine

My total was 14.14 I gave the woman $15.25 and she asked me if I needed change… yes I replied that’s how business/money works. How rude to have the audacity to think I’m going to give her free money for a pick up order. Can I go in there sometimes and ask for free food?? I doubt it. so insulting! This employee needs to be fired immediately. I’m writing this review without even having taste of the food. Usually at Asian restaurants the cashier is also the owner so I suspect she owns the restaurant. I do not own a restaurant and I’m never going to own one if I give out free money. I did work in a restaurant for many many years and I never got a single tip. If she wants a tip here’s one for her learn some manners learn how business works and don’t assume the extra money belongs to you. What an arrogant person. Furthermore if you’re going to ask the persons name when taking order learn how to listen, learn how to spell names, or don’t ask at all!!!!
Tong Soon Garden
3240 El Camino Real, Santa Clara, CA 95051, United States
1st time trying this place because theyre open a bit later than others near me. Checked their website for menu and prices. Called an order for carry out, ordered 2- 6pc potstickers, 1 General Tsao Chicken and 1 Honey Walnut Prawns. Assuming the prices on the website were accurate, I didnt ask for a total over the phone. Should have been about $34-$35 plus tax, according to the website prices. When I arrived to pickup my order, the older Asian lady said $71.80... ?? In semi shock I said aahh.. that doesnt sound right. She showed me a menu with prices, I said thats not what your website says. She said those prices are over 10 years old. Ok, well Im pretty sure thats not MY fault, definitely False Advertising/Illegal in some way and COMPLETELY RIDICULOUS!!my receipt was not itemized so Im also very sure a Gratuity %age was included secretly.Typically, whatever type restaurants across the country, have a policy statement (somehow), stating Parties of 4-5 or more will have a 15-20% Gratuity automatically included in the final bill.DINE-IN ONLY!THAT DOESNT APPLY TO CARRY OUT ORDERS!You did NOT serve me throughout my visit!BUYER BE AWARE!! If you dont care about being ripped off, thats on you.Not to mention my food was very Sub-par.Will never go there again and will continue to tell everyone I know.Honestly wish there was a NEGATIVE 1-5 rating available.Good luck!
Teriyaki Madness
2020 Wyatt Dr Ste 120, Santa Clara, CA 95054, United States
DONT EAT HERE! LONG AZZ WAIT TIME for PLAIN FOOD!I had a TERRIBLE experience at this store today. We put in for a pick-up Order to be picked up at 1145am today, we got there at 1150am. We didnt receive our order until 1239pm. The employees are rude and did not know how to prioritize orders (HELLO time mgmt). In fact, I asked to speak to a manager several times and the employees in the front said they the manager is busy. Multiple people got their order before us and multiple people were complaining. After SEVERAL times of asking where my order was the two girls working in the front continued to reassure me its coming, and even after my constant asking, they still reassured me its coming AFTER almost 1 hour of waiting. THIS IS NOT GOOD SERVICE!!! IF SOMEONE IS ANGRY AND IS WAITING YOU DONT MAKE THEM WAIT LONGER AND KEEP ON SAYING ITS COMING! AND YOU DONT TELL THEM THE MANAGER IS BUSY AFTER ASKING MULTIPLE TIME TO SPEAK TO A MGR! THIS IS A BAD STORE WITH BAD HORRIBLE SERVICE. TO THE STAFF: Please TRAIN your employees and those that represent your company that they need to do better processes for putting in orders in a timely manner, IF it was ordered earlier, take care of THAT first. I KNOW THIS isnt fast food, but it isnt a sit-down restaurant either with a full-blown gourmet kitchen. Waiting 1 hour for service is not acceptable. I will continue to put this on my endless reviews online.
Paiks Noodle
1520 Kiely Blvd, Santa Clara, CA 95051, United States
The FoodThe first time I ate at this place, Hong Kong Banjum Paiks Noodle, I thought it was a Hong Kong restaurant. But the Hong Kong here is actually the phonetic for the Korean (홍콩) and Banjum (반점). I have tried a variety of dishes from this restaurant:- jjamppong (Spicy Seafood Noodle Soup)- jajangmyeon (Blackbean Sauce Noodle)- Jaengban-jjajang (Stir-Fried Blackbean Sauce Noodle)- tangsuyuk (Sweet and Sour Pork)- Gunmandu (Fried Dumpling)I quite enjoy most of their dishes, and the Gunmandu are fairly unique. The tangsuyuk is nice with a slightly crispy and mochi like crust wrapping the pork. But I enjoy their noodles the most, they are also unique when compared to other Asian restaurants. The only thing I wish is probably more meat in their dishes. They have been extending their menu so Ill return another time to try their new selection. The MiscellaneousThe restaurant is in a small plaza, which extends to a bigger plaza, so plenty of parking? The inside of the restaurant has a decent amount of seating, but lines can also get quite long. They have a semi open kitchen so you can see how they prepare some of the food. The service is pretty efficient, the server and staff are pretty sincere. Their menu is not super big, but slowly expanding. The price is quite reasonable also. If you are a noodle type of person, definitely give this place a try.
Panda Express
4701 Great America Pkwy, Santa Clara, CA 95054, United States
The food is always good, but the one thing is that they give the people who actually PAY SO MUCH MORE. Chinese workers are just selfish. They give you the tiniest bowl for dining pass. One time I was carrying an empty red paper cup that originally cannot be refilled. One of the workers said to me hey uhh by the way you cant refill that. I said I know because I was just going to throw that away anyways. BUT EVEN IF I DIDNT WANT TO TGROW IT AWAY, DOES THAT RED COCA COLA CUP EVEN LOOK LIKE A REFILLABLE CUP TO YOU?So greedy and also dumbIts not worth it, theres a panda express literally 5 minutes away in Santa Clara, just go there, they even allowed our swimsuits in because we wanted to go to the water park but it was closed. If you are craving for panda, eat there then come to great America, or else just use your dining pass on Maggies chicken because the servinga they give are so much more
Deedees
341 Lafayette St Wellness Center, Santa Clara, CA 95050, United States
I had heard from various friends, over the course of last two years, about a good vegetarian Indian restaurant in Santa Clara called Deedees. Now the name sounded odd to me and call me stupid, but I put off visiting the place purely based on that. I am used to seeing Indian sounding names for Indian restaurants- a Shalimar or a Madras Cafe or a Bangalore Cafe or a Andhra Bhavan or Aachi Aappa Kadai. So the name Deedees rang no bell and didnt really work for me.Fast forward to last week when a good friend suggested that we meet at that place for a weekday lunch. I figured if nothing else, I could claim that I had been to Deedees and write a review about it. On a surprisingly warm Bay Area afternoon, three of us met for lunch at Deedees. The place is slightly bigger than a hole in the wall, not too far from Santa Clara University. It is hard to find and pretty small. We arrived a tad earlier than peak noon hour and were able to find a good place to sit. I took a peek at the buffet and it seemed, well, different. And so started an excellent culinary experience.Deedees, as I researched once I got back to my computer, is a Gujarati style restaurant with a history. It made its name at a previous location in Mountain View until the economy and a series of unexpected events brought them to their current location in Santa Clara. They were trying to regain their past glory and going by the food, I can confidently say they are on their way.The buffet had some native Gujju dishes, of which I recognized Gujarati Kadhi, Khaman Dhokla, and Shrikhand. They also had poori's instead of the usual naan. The sabzis were excellent. There was also lemon rice. A lady brought warm rotis (not naans) to our table. The food was great. It felt close to home cooked. The typical masala flavors of an Indian buffet were surprisingly absent. And then there is the Shrikhand. It was heavenly. I went in for seconds and enjoyed every smooth and buttery inch of it.I kicked myself for not going to this place earlier. Now I know where I am recommending folks at work. Deedees reminded me that sometimes, its all about the food. The name is just that.
