Stockpot

Ordered the Spicy Beef Noodle Soup (BBH), Rice Clay Pot & Spicy Tamarind Chicken Wings. The BBH was okay, different from other restaurants. The Rice Clay Pot was good. The tamarind chicken wings were delicious. Would recommend the Rice Clay Pot & Tamarind Chicken Wings, but for me personally; I wouldnt order the BBH again. Not that it was not good, just not what I am used to. However, if you havent tried the BBH; you should try it. Enjoy!Update: 03/31/2023Ordered the BBH again today to make sure my taste buds werent tripping, but unfortunately; same result. Note to self: please skip the BBH at Stockpot and only order the Tom Yum soup. Anywho, another great visit. ?Update: 09/14/2023We have visited here many times before the last review, but didnt provide the updates. In any event, today; we ordered the Seafood Pho, Cambodian Noodle Soup (Kuy Teav Phnom Penh) & Spicy Tamarind Chicken Wings. The Seafood Pho was tasty. I didnt really need to add a lot of the condiments. The Cambodian Noodles was also another one of our favorite. The pork heart has its own unique taste and we love it! Until next time...
China Wok
512 Sacramento St, Vallejo, CA 94590, United States
Often times, good quality Chinese food is hard to come by. This is due to the fact that there are so many you can go to, pretty much in any city. The usual end result? They all taste the same or similar. Panda Express doesnt count, just in case you were wondering. Sorry, thats a fast food joint. Its an OK one, but im not going to call their fare there chinese food. But back to what I was saying, so many Chinese restos are just a dime a dozen. Vallejo is no exception, of course. Fortunately, good Chinese food can be found here thats not just the average sorta what youre used to type of dealy. China Wok happens to be one of those places.A bit of a back story. China Wok wasnt always called China Wok from what I remember. Its located on Sacramento Street in Downtown Vallejo, where I spent 17 years of my life. I had only eaten at its previous incarnation once, the night after we moved to our little apartment right up the street. I cant remember how it was. However, I can tell you that the food today is really good. People are so used to greasy dishes with salty fried rice or overly steamed white rice. Or at least, thats what may come to mind when they think of typical Chinese food. However, the opposite is the case here. Dishes are freshly cooked, not greasy at all, and well seasoned. Rice, fried or steamed, is prepared just right. Steamed veggies arent a soggy mess, they still have a bit of bite to them. Food is given in a good amount as well, so they dont skimp on their serving sizes. This is just some feel good food right here.Service is always friendly, quick, and always reliable. Orders are taken quickly and the food comes out just a few minutes later, even for a nice sized party. Prices are extremely reasonable as well, especially the lunch specials. I think I really only have one gripe that I can think of. Sometimes the floor has this odd... I dunno... stickiness maybe? Its definitely odd to the step, but not really all that off putting as youre not going to be walking around here all that much.If you look hard enough, Vallejo has some nice little food gems. China Wok is definitely one of those places in my opinion. If youre ever feeling like some Chinese food and youre in the area, this place wont disappoint.
Yo Sushi
114 Robles Way, Vallejo, CA 94591, United States
I enjoy the food here BUT today I witnessed some things that is making me rethink coming back. A young man in a black hat and a black warriors hoody was sent out to wash the windows... It became clear that he had never done this before OR he has but nobody checked his work and advised him how to do the job correctly. Now this can overlooked BUT what cant be is how he dealt with cleaning tables. Heres what happened: while wiping windows he was stopped stepped into a chair then onto the bar table against the window in order to plug in a cord to a ceiling outlet then step down and continued wiping ( very poorly mind you) the windows. Then stopped again went to the back and came back with a cleaner and a white rag. He cleaned the table ( about as well as he did the windows... Poorly... Then used the rag that he cleaned his shoe print up with to wipe down the rest of the bar table...not good Then went back to wiping windows. He then returned to the back and this time returning with only the cleaner and the white cleaning rag and SAT DOWN at a table in order to wipe it down.I assume with the same white rag.I then saw him at the front area handling to go orders... Didnt see him wash his hands or change his gloves( from previous cleaning tasks).I dont know if he was just lazy, uninformed, or what but it didnt make me feel good about how things get cleaned at yo sushi.
VIET PHO RESTAURANT
1774 Tuolumne St, Vallejo, CA 94589, United States
Hubby & I were curious how 52 people before us gave this new restaurant 5 stars, and after dining here, Im happy to be giving the 53rd 5⭐ rating! For starters, I loved the menu: it is straight to the point with pretty much all of the classic dishes one would expect to see at a phở restaurant, without extra visual noise. The owner, running the joint by himself, impressively serviced multiple orders for pick-up, another table, and us, all the while being professional, personable, and speedy. Since this was our first time here, hubby & I decided to order the main item on the menu: the special phở. Even before the first bite, as I inhaled the aromas of my bowl, I could tell this was going to be good. And was it good! The broth was quality, with body, a hint of creaminess, and FLAVOR. And the bowl was well presented with a very decent amount of beef atop the phở noodles. This was a perfect spot to drop in on this cold, rainy day. Our tastebuds are happy & our tummies are satisfied! ?

Ive been going to this place for a while. Loved the soup until the other day. We noticed a bad odor of fish last two times and realized it was from the mop. Another time they gave us the wrong noodles and when we asked if we could get the noodles we asked for they started arguing, took the soups back, grabbed the noodles out and switched them and brought it back in seconds......last time I ate there I found a long white hair in my soup as I was half way done. Never again will I eat here nor would I recommend this place to anyone .
Panda Express
972 Admiral Callaghan Ln, Vallejo, CA 94591, United States
Horrible experience. Please note I post very few negative reviews. Zero plans to go back. I walked in at 8:33 and walked out at 8:53. Waited in line for 20 minutes with only six people ahead of me. There were literally seven staff members sitting there. So there was more staff than customers. By the time I got to the front all the teriyaki chicken was gone and she told me they would start more. The same lady that was walking around as the manager, drinking her soda, and not helping while the line just kept getting longer. When I walked out of the store with no food the line had now 16 people. I post very few negative reviews. This was just an awful experience.
3 Star
4380 Sonoma Blvd #357, Vallejo, CA 94589, United States
My dining experience is limited to about half a dozen dishes. I have a couple favorites, a few decent and a couple not worth trying.Lets start off with my favorites. The garlic sauce wings are fantastic. Crunchy, cooked in a sticky gooey sauce that is sweet and slightly spicy. I come here every so often for the wings alone. They are seriously that GOOD.I tried the tomato and egg soup yesterday and was very pleasantly surprised. It was full of egg and fresh vegetables. Chunks of tomato, al dente squash, large slices of mushrooms, and green onions. Not the bland tell-tale mix of frozen vegetables consisting of peas and cubed carrots that Ive encountered at some other restaurants. The chicken congee is good and I particularly enjoy it when not feeling well. Its a childhood comfort food for me. Filling, warms you up on a cold day, and just enough flavor. The garlic rice makes a great staple and a nice change from steamed rice. The pork tocino lunch special is decent as well. It comes with a fried egg, garlic rice, and tomato. The pancit bihon unfortunately I didnt like at all. I took a few bites then took the rest home. Tried it again the next day and ended up tossing the entire dish. Last of all there are several grades of rice and it makes a huge difference when a restaurant uses a lower grade of rice. Im not crazy about their steamed rice and will order it only if the dish Im having is better with plain rice. The restaurant itself is very basic. The staff, some are nicer and more attentive than others. The garlic sauce wings are 5 stars. The tomato and egg soup 4 stars. The other dishes I would give a 3-3.5 except for the one I didnt enjoy at all of course.
Midori Japanese Cuisine
3440 Sonoma Blvd, Vallejo, CA 94590, United States
Ok, first off, just telling you how awesome and big this was is impossible so the photo is for scale.I ordered the Chicken Teriyaki Bowl. Thats the small portion... Let me say that again, pictured is the small portion, and its $5. The large portion items are $7, and I saw one, its easily twice the size. My girlfriend ordered the Sweet & Sour Chicken, just as big and very yummy. We also got a Ebi Roll, and a Spicy Tuna Roll, all top shelf items with out question. My only grip is no soda fountain, so we had to get Snapple. But all of that, 2 bowls, 2 rolls, and 2 drinks. $28. I can not tell you how good this food was for the price. On our way out, we decided heck with it, lets get a smoothie. They are like $3.50 for a small, which is the perfect size. I had a banana and my gf had a mango. It tasted like they just crammed a ton of fruit in there. It was heavy like a milk shake, and tasted like heaven. Soo amazing, and I know I will be showing up again when the weather starts to get warm, like it already is. They do have a large version of the smoothies, and I think thy were like $4.50 or so, and the sign says 64oz, but I saw a few people order them, I think the sign lies, they were HUGE!!! Soo worth it.In conclusion:The scary part about this place is how good and cheap it is. Its also right next to the house, just as close as McDs, and basically the same price for a simple meal.
Surukis
145 Plaza Dr #201, Vallejo, CA 94591, United States
I love coming to Surukis because hello, the location is great. I can get all my shopping done & eat sushi?! IN THE SAME PLAZA. They always have specials going on and the Bento Box one is usually a steal. Plus, if youre lucky, youll walk in when their chicken teriyaki is the special and order some shrimp tempura on the side.I always get their handrolls, edamame or their spicy chicken wings (which arent even spicy). They taste so good. & they have daily specials too during the weekday. Monday is $1.99 handrolls, tuesday is 0.99 spam masubis (I believe), Wednesday (I think) is Chicken Teriyaki bowls, and Thursday is their spicy chicken wings. Although a lot of people give this place a bad rep because customer service a lot of the employees here are high school sophomores-seniors, as their first job. & that is no excuse but the place does get packed & busy and the frustration seems to all go to the FOH employees. I asked once why a couple orders came out faster than others and its because they have one chef working on hot food items & another on the sushi. & if theres one person doing each thing, obviously it makes sense why other foods come out faster than others. & when it gets like that, & the hot foods are done, Ive seen the other chef help the sushi maker out.I wish this place was a little big, I know that the place would fill out eventually as it already does. Call in ahead of time & expect your food to be ready in about 20-30 mins during busy hours, or 15 mins during non-busy hours. Plus, I like that this place allows you to customize your bento, not like other sushi places in the area. & you honestly cannot beat their teriyaki sauce. Ive tried other sushi businesses in Vallejo but this one HANDS down has the best sauce. So believe me, the wait is worth it.
The Loft Shabu Sushi and Thai
8308 Bennington Ct, Vallejo, CA 94591, United States
Easily the best Thai food in Solano County, and probably the best Pad See Ew in the bay area. Ive tried Thai food in Santana Row, in SF, and all around the bay, but The Loft is definitely a standard above. The Pad See Ew has amazing flavor and is really filling. Portion sizes are GREAT. Pad Thai and Drunken Noodle are also among the best Ive ever had. Tom Yum Soup was good, but nothing extraordinary. Increasing the spice level is really just adding chili pepper flakes, so do be careful when turning it up, as you might inhale more than you taste!Delivery is a great plus!* UPDATE 3/23*IT HURTS ME SO MUCH to crank the review down to 4-star from 5, but Ive been here a few more times since my last review, and I felt like I should update a bit. Now, most things have not changed. Flavor, still amazing. Service, still attentive, Ambience, just as cute as before. But the portion sizes :(The last 2 times I came here, I had to order TWO entrees to get ALMOST as full as I used to be with just one order from before. At first I thought maybe my appetite is getting larger, BUT one time I ordered a pad see ew to-go (which they usually fill their black tray right to the top), and it barely filled their tray halfway! This is not good Loft!I definitely went a few more times to hope that sizes would grow back, but unfortunately not yet. Lets hope the next time I swing by portion sizes are back to the great way they were before!
