Our favorites include Vegetarian Haka Noodles, Vegetarian Schezewan Fried Rice, and Tofu in Garlic Sauce. Not to mention, the place offers great, friendly service and has a wonderful ambiance with both indoor and outdoor seating options. Highly recommend giving it a try!

Fried chicken wing - Dont underestimate fried chicken wing, you can taste a good one compared to bad ones and this is one of the best Ive had. Good garlic flavor and crispy fried flavor.Baked Spaghetti Bolognese - I was surprised how good this is. They use the good cheese and you can smell it. Crispy cheese on top and the sauce flavor is very good as well.Baked pork chop over rice - The sauce is above average. However, the pork chop could use more marinate, garlic and sesame oil. I think the pork chop they use is pork loin. Using more fatty pork will make it more tender and juicy.Portuguese style baked chicken rice - The flavor of the sauce actually was pretty good but I thought it taste a little sourness. All in all, Im pretty impressed because I didnt expect its this good.

SC Noodle House

New fusion restaurant at San Carlos. It serves Thai, Chinese, Vietnamese, and Korean dishes. It has full bar service. We didnt make a reservation and get seated right away. It was not busy when we arrived but after thatvit was packed. The interior is very nicely decorated. We ordered rare beef pho and salt and pepper wing. The dishes were ready pretty quickly. The service is goodThe chicken wing is yummy but a bit salty. The soup of the pho is not hot enough and also too sweet for me. I can taste a strong onion flavor, and sweetness is from the onion. I prefer less sweet. The meat is tender. Overall, the food is good, but if you are looking for authentic pho soup, this might not be the one. Next visit, we will try other dishes. Price is a bit high but reasonable. The restaurant also adds 3.25% for good living wages on the bill. If you want to try various asian noodles and cusines under one roof, you should give it a try.

New Canton Restaurant

What a nice surprise! We stopped in for take out. I was expecting the usual fare as far as menu selection for a small Chinese restaurant; and I was also expecting the usual range/depth of flavor with the meals (especially being outside of San Mateo and Millbrae). The menu caught my attention as it featured a lot of dishes beyond what youd typically find. We ordered pretty standard things, but will look forward to trying some of the house specials next time! When we got home and opened the boxes . . . I was very surprised to see a rich color to the food. And the flavor definitely matched. The portions were generous and well-balanced in terms of the provision of meats/fish and veggies. The noodles were soft and chewy, the pan-fried dumplings had a nice thick and chewy shell/skin with a solidly fried bottom. The sauce on the chicken was thick, with just the right balance between salt and spice. One or two dishes were a little on the greasy side, but nothing to complain about. We had leftovers tonight, and the dishes really soaked up the flavor! Even better the second time around.Order: Pan-fried dumplings/potstickers; beef chow fun, rock fish and asparagus, and kung pao chicken. We made our own rice and veggies (fried dandelion greens w/ garlic and salt).

We found this cute Chinese restaurant in San Carlos with very sweet amiable servers. Food is really good!!! I was pleasantly surprised. We ordered the beef chow mein, the noodles cooked perfectly. The Squirrel Crispy Fish is excellent! The Prawns with snow peas is great! The peas were nice and crispy. Also ordered the pot stickers. We will definitely be back and thats coming from a restaurant snob ?. I definitely call myself a foodie and this is one of the best Chinese restaurants in the Bay Area!!!

I was in San Carlos, my friend and I was looking for a Chinese restaurant and glad I found this restaurant. It was not yet crowded when we came but we were greeted and seated. I think this is the same restaurant as the one in Burlingame. I ordered the Tan Tan Noodles and my friend ordered his favorite orange chicken. Ordered pot stickers as well. Servings are huge so I saved some for the lunch tomorrow.

Ordered :Creamy Egg Noodle Soup : 3/5Shitaki Mushrooms with Braised Tofu : 3/5Will order again : 3/5, No. Was a decent place to try in our search for our new favorite chinese restaurant, but nothing special for us to make us come back again.Food is sort of ok, not very flavorful and we had to add to the flavor via the use of salt, soy sauce & chili.

Edna Ray Chinese Restaurant
1890 W San Carlos St, San Jose, CA 95128, United States
We loved Edna Ray in Los Gatos and Willow Glen. We were so sad when they retired last year. Saw the article that a younger family member reopened the business in San Jose on San Carlos. We were thrilled and tried it tonight. We were disappointed and hope its growing pains. I hope the niece will talk to her elders about their recipes. Tonight our Edna Ray Chow Mein had a hint of a burnt taste and the sweet and sour pork was over cooked and beyond crunchy. The combination rice was close to what the original owner did and the Peking chicken was nicely prepared. Since they have only been open 5 months we will try again in a month. We wish them well and hope to up our review to 5 stars soon.Update one month laterAs promised we went back to Edna Rays today. In our opinion they are up and running and the four dishes that we ordered were excellent and up to par with what we remember from their Willow Glen and Los Gatos restaurants. As long as the food is fresh, hot and well prepared with the original recipes we will be back on a regular basis. Thank you Edna Ray!

Shiki Bistro

I ordered dinner from here through DoorDash last night and tried to leave a review on DoorDash, but they don't seem to be putting it up. This was the worst sushi I've ever had and I got really sick ( violent stomach aches and vomiting). The sushi rolls, seaweed salad, nigiri and hand roll looked and smelled like old fish and like it had been sitting out for awhile (I should have been suspicious that it was delivered within 15 minutes after ordering on a Saturday evening). It all just seemed like very poor quality and not fresh, NOT what you want when ordering sushi especially. Even the shrimp nigiri was horrible and a rip off- they literally sliced the very top of the shrimp and placed on a bed of old smelling rice (see pic). The seaweed salad looked and tasted like it was from out of a can and was like soup with all the syrup-like sauce on it. The snow dragon roll just tasted like fake crab and mayonnaise. And the tuna hand roll was just as bad. Just for reference I do not have any food allergies and I am a regular sushi eater. I was excited to try this place out after reading some good reviews and it being my first sushi in California and man was I disappointed and sick. Save yourself the risk please and order elsewhere! I'm a nurse and just wanted to warn others.Side note: no chopsticks or soy sauce were given and there was not an option to add to the DoorDash order.
