Used to be our favorite Chinese restaurant in Bakersfield. However over the course of the last several years the food has become so bland that it almost inedible. When something has hot peppers beside it itbis supposed to be at least warm, not fit for my 8 years old grandchild. Will definitely be finding another Chinese restaurant. Might be back to the bar as the drinks are fab.

Lived in Bakersfield 60 years and never went to Great Castle Chinese restaurant because of its location. Finally decided it was time I should try it on November 17 2020 because of the reviews online and what people have said about.Walked in and no one was there to greet me for 5 minutes.Finally a man walked into the reception area and expressly ordered me to sit down here and not there ...your not allowed to sit where you want to.Ordered the Chicken fried rice and Pot stickers 2 beers. This man stared at me nearly the entire time I ate tasteless Chinese food. Very rude, made me feel like I was not welcome and that I should pay right now...You Pay Now Before Eat. Never again will I return.Rice Bowl and Bill Lees is sooo much better.

Ive been coming here since I moved to Bakersfield in 1988. The lunch specials were only $1.99 back then. Today, they are $11.00 and change plus tax. The food remains delicious to this very day. My ultimate favorite is chicken fried rice because they make it so good. Always plenty of chicken & egg & veggies. Plus the price is very reasonable. For example, a smaller plate of chicken fried rice at Myoshi costs you $18. At lams, its cheaper, and you get more rice. Their prices are very reasonable, and my family and I drive from the Rosedale & Allen road area JUST to come eat here. The menu is very good and offers you a huge variety of food to eat. My mom & dad are in their 70s and wont go anywhere else for their favorite menu items here. From Hot tea thats delicious to crispy noodles with hot mustard or sweet & sour sauce to dip them in while we wait for our food is one of our favorites as well. Their egg flower soup is unique and tasty. I enjoy sweet & sour chicken thats extra crispy while my mom enjoys broccoli beef. We cant thank the owners & staff enough for the 35 plus years they have been serving us. Ive known you guys a long time. Your very wonderful people, and always friendly whenever we come to eat there. Just amazing food & service. Once a Scotsmen.. always a Scotsmen.So if youre ever in their neighborhood, you should DEFINITELY stop in for a meal cause you wont regret it. Dont forget to take home any leftovers so you can eat it later ? Yummy

I have been going to this place for 3-4 years. I have tried EVERY SINGLE ITEM. Some better then others but i think thats more of my personal taste. At first food was great for the price however the prices have been going up every year, however that cam be said for everywhere in California as it stands now the amount of food is fair for the price. The quality of food is great if i had to nit pick id say there is consistently more vegetables in their dishes then meat but not to the point id complain about. The customer service there is great from the cooks to the cashiers. Best of all the food comes out fresh faster then most places ive been to without a hit to quality which cant be said for other restuarants.

Went came here for Fathers day since it didnt have a wait time, It should have been a red flag. The server took a bit to greet us, once we ordered our drink my wife asked for sweetener for her tea which never came. The food is comparable to B rated fast food Chinese restaurant. My daughter became ill from the sushi, I informed the front desk who said they where calling the manager, we paid and left and not once did we see or speak to the manager. First time at P.F Changs, unfortunately will also be our last.

The food was good and it was hot. The line was long. The counter service was terrible. One older lady (the manager) working the food line and one young lady working the cash registrar. The older lady was intrested in trying to up sell your order. (you order a Bowl, for a dollar more make it a plate) She ask a questions and did not wait for an answer. The older lady did speak loudly or look at you directly. She skipped over people in line and had to double back.The younger lady at the register could have been faster at the register, but she had to finish orders that were incomplete (side orders & extra items).Plus the younger lady had to sort orders that were out of order because of the older lady.The seating area was only about a quarter ways full. The of the tables werent wiped down and self service drink area was a mess.Ive been inside this particular store before during lunch and dinner rush. Gotten better and faster service. Ive seen the place look a lot cleaner and kept in better shape during those busy times.Hopefully its better the next time I visit. Hopefully this is not a new onwer or manager style of trying save money and increase the stores profit margin.

They food is good but always surprised on how stingy they are with their food, i went in there with a few friend and spent a lot of money for such little food. We were better off going to a different Chinese or Cantonese restaurant. They have a variety of selection but when you see your plate youre like really! So another reason why I support more local small restaurants than franchise or fast food.
