Large portion for the Chicken Hibachi. I was disappointed with the flavor. Dish reminded me of my moms first attempt at stir-fry in the 90s, heavy use of soy sauce, large cuts and the rice was al dente. I believe the rice was calrose, which tends to be slightly al dente in texture. However, for nearly $20 I expected more. They did serve it with a side of mustard-based sauce and something similar to a ginger dressing, but it couldnt mask the heavy taste of soy sauce. With soaring costs of food, I just need to be pickier with what I choose to avoid disappointment. I might be expecting too much. The restaurant is small with few seats, all placed in a small space. You order at a counter much like a fast food restaurant.

Great Sushi ?! Staff is very friendly. The owner usually comes by the table to introduce herself and welcome you.The first time we ate at Shoyu Sushi we were going to have pizza at El Pizza Valoz. To my daughters delight Shoyu Sushi had just opened in the space that had been El Pizza Valoz. My daughter loves Sushi! She was so excited to have a new sushi restaurant in the neighborhood.Shoyu Sushi had only been open a week when we wondered in for the first time. Our little family of 4 was treated like family the moment we walked in. It felt like we had been invited into our long lost Japanese aunties home for dinner. The owner was so delighted when our 9yr old daughter ordered her own sushi. She complemented her on her on her taste and sushi knowledge. She really made my daughter feel special.The waitress started bring the sushi shortly after we ordered. We were amazed at the parade of colorful sushi rolls that began to arive at the table. The waitress brought the beautiful rolls one after another. As soon as the chef finished a roll she brought it to the table.After all the sushi arrived my daughter ask me if she could have the pickled ginger on my roll because she likes a lot of ginger. The owner must have heard her. She brought a bowl of ginger to my daughter and said she liked a lot of ginger on her sushi too. She then told my 4yr old son. Who had been less than enthusiastic about having sushi instead pizza for dinner. If he did a good job eating his sushi she would bring him a surprise if it was ok with mom and dad.My son ate his California roll. True to her word she brought out a giant desert plate of green tea ice cream and fruit. It had chocolate sauce all over it an spoons for four.We have been back several times since our first visit. The sushi is always great and the staff is wonderful.

Definitely one of the top sushi restaurants in Bakersfield, Miyoshi is a small, decently priced Japanese restaurant with very well done sushi rolls. Because of the popularity of the place and the number of tables, there can be an extensive wait during peak hours. The wait staff is very friendly and attentive. The rolls tend to be very large so be careful about over-ordering.

Ive been here twice since it opened. The service is friendly and accommodating. The ramen here is better than other Japanese-style restaurants in town. And it is priced cheaper. It seems at other ramen restaurants in town that by the time you get your ramen the toppings have cooled it down considerably. However, the ramen here is warm. Price wise, its not as expensive as another place in town. When you get an egg in your ramen here, it will be creamy, not overcooked. You can get Takoyaki here as well - pan-fried octopus balls. It doesnt take long to get your food and you can easily get out in 15-20 minutes.

I really thought it was the real authentic one like in Japan, Its really simple and small amazing menu. Orange chicken exactly same as Mc Donalds I felt like Im eating baby food lol & The fish wasnt that great. My buddy ordered ribs and he said doesnt taste anything like ribs and the other item he bought I cant remember for him it tasted like no flavor. I would blame any ethnic food to bring their own people to cook. When I saw an American white guy cooking I said OH NO!!!! No offense, When you want something authentic, The cook need to be from that ethnicity and with experience.So I would say if you have guests dont go there, They will not give a good impression food wise. The young lady on the front she is amazing and very welcoming.Nothing against anyone, I criticize restaurant and a lot of people follow my lead, So if you want a quick bite for your kids get the orange chicken, theyre are small balls weird but really enough portion for kids again.Please dont take it personal, Its my opinion, And Ive travelled the world.

This is a beautiful restaurant with a sushi bar - I LOVE a good sushi bar! The staff is attentive, and the sushi chef is meticulous in his preparation. The food is very fresh. The menu is quite large, so everyone can find something to enjoy here. This will be my destination in Bakersfield every time I visit town. I look forward to trying a new sushi dish and some Japanese beer or sake next time. See you there! Matane!

Definately the best sushi restaurant in town, and it rivals many of those in bigger CA cities. If you go there enough, you will see them breaking down whole fresh fish at the sushi bar.The presentations of dishes are appetizing and creative. There are no tacky Japanese lanterns in the modern and impeccably clean dinning room.Do not be afraid that they are frequented with take home customers or the non-Japanese name. Hi Sushi is a comfortable restaurant worth eatting in, but if you are heading home from work and need good eats at good prices, call ahead and pick up a delicious dinner for the family enroute.

My daughters favorite dinner out. Food is prepared fresh, consistent, reliable and tasty. Cant quite wrap my mind around the penchant for pop music played loudly in an ostensibly Japanese restaurant, but nobody seems to mind. Our family sticks firmly to only the sushi rolls, so cant comment on the full menu. Servers are prompt and friendly and weve never had an error with our order. Good northeast joint.

So we come here all the time and never had any problem until my two-year-old son was watching something on YouTube while dining which is no other problem anywhere else we didn't even get our drink order in and they said you guys can go to another restaurant because the baby can't be calm down and he's two who can predict the behavior of a two year old? I felt so discriminated on because my child was a little loud but if I came in there with 15 people, it would be a hey okay ?? Zero out of zero for me not to mention this was the first ever restaurant in my sons two years of life of them, asking me to leave because of a babynot only that I try to avoid the crowd and go during the day and because I feel like they had some clout that they would choose the only two other people in the restaurant we had to leave which is so sad.You are so wrong no one apologize you asked us to go to a different restaurant. Please stop because that is not how you respond to people first of all just rude. You can't tell me about my experience. You guys drop the ball . Really unprofessional to say to go somewhere else. I guess things will be different if I came in with 15 adults and we were doing saki shots and being loud would be more acceptable. FYI this is NOT A 5 star restaurant sorry not sorry
